When best-laid-plans fall apart, all you can do is pick up the pieces—and host a gallery exhibit.
Nic Walker and Vincent Blake lead charmed lives—or so thinks their neglected friend Juno. But when Juno’s plans come crumbling down, it’s their boyfriend Charles who reaches out to get Nic to help. Nic, Vincent, Matteo and even Taylor are there with solid plans for assistance, including an emergency art exhibit called Electric Dreams.
Amid an unexpected revelation about Matteo’s past, a surprising romantic development in Daphne’s life and a personal challenge of Nic’s, the gang comes together to help their friends and demonstrate what real loyalty looks like. Nobody ever said life was easy, but sometimes a challenge can bring out the best in people—and remind you of the true meaning of friendship.
Queer erotic romance. Incendiary encounters, stealthy romance, multiple genres. AE Lister is a Canadian non-binary/gender fluid author with a vivid imagination and a head full of unique and interesting characters. They write consent-based kink with a dash of romance.
Fans of Nic, Vincent, and Matteo are going to thoroughly enjoy A.E. Lister's Various Intentions. There are a few interesting surprises as the trio's network of found family gradually increases. And there are lots of positive, heartwarming, and hopeful events in their future as well. This is the third installment in the Persuasions series, so you'll need to read Various Persuasions and Various Distractions first, in order.
One of my favorite aspects of this series is getting the intimate details of Nic's continuing journey. Told in the first person, from Nic's point of view, we get to see inside this interesting person as they face the challenges life throws at them. Getting older, waning interest in structuring scenes for two frisky boys, maintaining platonic friendships, as well as some of the emotional aspects that surrount Nic's journey.
A.E. Lister always writes stunning erotica, and with the chemistry between Vincent and Matteo growing in leaps and bounds, there are some wonderful scenes between the two men in Various Intentions. Plus these novels are filled with interesting details of this trio's day to day life in Ottawa, Canada.
an advanced copy of Various Intentions was generously provided by the author for the purpose of my honest review, all opinons are my own
A bittersweet ending… I adore this series and all of its characters. Nic, Vincent, Matteo and their beautiful, crazy, unconventional family are so incredibly wonderful and the heat is off the charts. I’ve learned so much through this series and am so grateful they will forever live in the pages of each book for me to visit again and again.
This series is so awesome, you got to read the previous two to fully enjoy this one. Nic and Vincent are in a steady romantic Dom sub relationship. In book two Matteo entered and now they are in a solid poly relationship. Add Taylor, Vincent’s seventeen-year-old gay cousin who needed a safe place away from his parents, and here we are, three men taking parental care of Taylor.
I adored Nic, he’s honest, flawed, and the way he expresses himself is just awesome. His doubts and thoughts about his Dom burnout at thirty-five were so natural. He’s the best friend you could wish for.
Juno’s partner Charles knocks on Nic’s door for help, Juno is in an awful state of mind. And there you go, Nic is the best friend!
Juno is an artist and business is going bad. To help them, Nic, Vincent, Matteo, and Taylor gonna help organize a kinky artistic event.
We can follow the three of them alternating having delicious scenes, drinking tea with Daphne, running errands, organizing the kinky event with all the sexy preparations, and finding balance with each other. Dang, it was more than entertaining, all interactions with these love people together. And the family expands even more. Gosh, I loved the healing tea drinking!
It’s such a friendly read, deliciously kinky, so much joy, fun, playful and respectful, with the most precious characters! Their dynamic was amazing, the three of them fit seamlessly, there’s so much love, care, and devotion. They are amazing characters who stand for their partners, family and friends. It gave me goosebumps, I wanted to live with them! Absolutely adorable written series, with a feeling-good vibe, it’s captivating, entertaining, and excellently developed. Please start with book one you’ll see how Nic’s family expands, from a somewhat lonely and hurt Dom, to the point in this story where he’s content and happy.
This series has some of the best characters and I really love Nic, Vincent, Matteo, and Taylor. To me, this one is definitely best read after the ones before it and I don't think it would stand on it's own very well. You really need to see how the relationships began and changed to understand where everyone is at with this one. While the first story is probably the one with the biggest emotional punch, I loved that we get to meet some new friends and really see Nic settle into life with his two boyfriends. Vincent is one of my favorite characters and it's really awesome seeing him embrace his style and it was a total treat reading about all the outfits he wears. I do love a man in soft/lacey things. There's something really sweet and endearing about his character that I just wish to bottle up. Taylor is also super cute but in an explodable kitten way. He is energetic, over the top, and a total sweetheart. Matteo gets a bit of drama in this one, but overall I felt that it was a very low angst read with quite a kinky punch!
The biggest thing to me was seeing the roles shift around a bit. It was super hot seeing both Vincent and Matteo take some more dominate roles and it kept it fresh! There's so much spice and these guys know how to heat it up! Nic is a true sadist at times and his boys love it!
While I love these characters, I do feel that this one feels like a natural end. Any more drama would just feel a bit over the top and I don't think Nic could add any more living things to his household! This is all from Nic's POV and I do wish that we got a glimpse of the life from the others just a little bit. If there is a follow up, I hope it's about Taylor in a few years to see how he's grown and what he's up to!
Oh, how I love catching up with Nic, Vincent and Matteo. These three are so great together. Here we have what amounts to a little slice of life with them. There’s no major plot device to hook us and make us invest. It’s them, these men making a life together and navigating changes, that make us invest.
Nic is our narrator and I love his perspective of life. I adore how he views Vincent and Matteo. He really has an appreciation for the life he has with them. Nic finds himself facing some Dom burnout and trying to find new ways to engage his boys. Lister really let’s us feel how Nic worries about Vincent and Matteo, how much he wants to be enough for them. I really appreciated this aspect of the book. It made the seemingly invincible Nic so human. Throwing in the ice skating scene was just the icing on the cake.
We learn new things about Matteo and see how perfectly he fits in with Nic and Matteo. Vincent always charm with his blushes and whimpers. We also get to see a sexy new side of Matteo and I was so pleased to see it.
I truly enjoyed visiting with these guys. Seeing Taylor and Daphne again, meeting Juno and Charles, it really was like visiting with old friends. There were so many good aspects of this book and so many lovely moments. Once again, Lister has given us a unique book with characters you fall in love with again and again. This was another hit for me.
I love stories that aren’t the usual. This one is one of those stories. That’s not to say this book isn’t good. It’s very good. I’ve been on the hunt for stories of people who are coming into their own, accepting who they are and being comfortable in their own skin. This is one of those books.
Juno and Charles are a good pairing, but they’re troubled and that made them more human. I liked how Nic’s role switched into a fatherly/best friend role with these men. I won’t lie, this is a hot book. I mean, it’ll melt the screen, it’s that hot. But there’s emotion to the heat. It’s not just kink. Plus, this story shows that sometimes the family you make is the strongest bond. Stronger than the one you’re born with. I liked that. Sure, there’s kink, but there’s family.
If you’re looking for a story that’s full of heart and heat, then this is the story for you. It’s not the usual erotic romance and that’s what makes it so good. Recommended.
Various Intentions brings the story of Nic, Vincent and Matteo to a fitting finale where the reader can imagine kinky domestic bliss for years to come... told from Nic's POV, the entire series has been an adventure in kink exploration and broadening the main character's horizons... this time while helping their friends to rebuild Juno's artistic fortunes...
This book, more than the others focussed on relationships and interpersonal communication more than just the kink dynamics and also introduced a few new side characters...
As taken as I was with the unfolding story and the ultimate wrap up of the series, I would have liked more direct kink scenes between the three main characters and I definitely think that Taylor deserves a spin-off story, whether it's a novella or full length novel - I'd love to see what kinks he and his partner(s) explore after being exposed to the various characters in this series!
This is the third novel in the Persuasions series and it's another amazing installment. We meet the lovely trio of Nic, Matteo, and Vincent again, along with so many of their close friends.
We read as the characters continue navigating life, helping each other out, and as their relationship really grows along with them.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Not a standalone. Must read books 1 and 2 before starting this book.
This was more slice-of-life than the previous two books. Understandable, since now Nic, Vincent, and Matteo have themselves a little family with Taylor. There was a surprise side character that added to the family, and near the end, another addition to the family which was all very heartwarming.
Friends Juno and Charles had more scenes in this book than the previous books, while Daphne and her new boyfriend are scarcer cameos but still make plenty of appearances via phone conversations.
I enjoyed the two kink play events in the book. The first one had more "sharing" type dynamic of everyone playing briefly with others in the event. The second had more demonstrations and displays.
I loved the more cohesive feel of everyone in this book. Even though there was not as much steam as the first two books, I enjoyed the slice-of-life everyday-things of this book too. A very fitting conclusion to this series, and highly recommend it for those that enjoy MMM and kink/bdsm in their reads!
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by the author.
