Hannah saved her friend from an arranged marriage... but who will save her?
Hannah grew up witnessing the brutality of the Bratva. How could she resist helping her friend get away from a merciless arranged marriage? It worked. Yelena married Aiden Savage and was living happily ever after. Will Hannah suffer the cruel fate her friend escaped?
Rurik Ismailov blamed only one person for his sister's defection — Hannah. So he takes her, and he's keeping her. She will pay the ultimate price... Rurik's eyes hardened into cold dark marbles, his nostril flared. Making each precise, inflectionless word even more terrifying. “My father gave you sanctuary. Paying off your filthy father and keeping you safe. And how do you repay us? By giving my sister away. To a private investigator who works with the police. Helps the police. Did you think there would be no consequences for betraying us?” Hannah swallowed down the tennis ball in her throat, croaking her words out. “I was helping a friend. As any Bratva would do for a friend. I was trying to save her.” “Save her,” He growled the words in her face. His hot breath plastered the words against her forehead. “From becoming a billionaire’s pampered princess? Her only requirement would have been to bear and raise his children.” “Do you even hear yourself? Barefoot and pregnant by a man not of your choosing. What kind of life is that?” “It is the life you signed up for with your foolishness.” Her eyes opened wide as her brows drew closer together. Her question was whisper-thin. “What do you mean? I will not marry Leonid.” “No, you won’t.” She winced when he tipped her head up, gripping her chin in a vicious pinch. “All this foolishness has only swapped your place for hers. You will pay for this offense... This is your sentence. And no one and nothing will save you from it. You’re going to marry — Me.” “It’s not going to happen.” But her lips trembled as she spoke.
Jailaa West grew up on the southside of Chicago. She fell hard for romance books in junior high school when she got her first book boyfriend. Aww, she remembers it like it was yesterday. That first kiss. When he swore his undying love. When they married in the epilogue. When it ended. Say what now? She quickly found another book boyfriend and then another and yet another. She’s been book-in-love quite a few times now and she loves it as much as the first time. Books have always given her a happy place; a heart full of hope, love, and a light when the world seemed dark. She hopes to do the same for her readers.
This book was just okay. It's a quick read and didn't have the feel of a Bratva novel. The storyline/plot was textbook criminal underworld but the characters and the mood seemed more Middle Eastern than Russian. I never really knew where the story took place and a substantial backstory was missing for each MC. The author uses some ethnic terminology with NO translation leaving the reader to figure it out. The book ends on a positive note but overall the story just didn't flow for me and felt choppy. This author has promise, but needs to slow down, develop her characters better and establish a good steady flow, letting the story play out.
Hannah is cast initially as a very strong girl who has seen her share of abuse from daddy dearest but quickly succumbs to the BIG O/instant love character within a chapter. After she has sex for the first time with Rurik all bets are off. All the pretense and banter about how she is not going to be sexually active with Rurik is gone once she has a few organisms. Another decent female MC hits the Big O dust.
Rurik isn't your textbook bad guy but certainly doesn't get the "groom of the year award" after what he does to Hannah on their wedding night. I mean what guy who is marrying a virgin goes from 1-100 when it comes to spankings, sexual kinks, toys and an intro to BDSM. The entire contractual/wedding spoof is a joke and wouldn't hold up in ANY court. It's almost laughable from a legal standpoint.
Rurik's character does begin to show his human side and tries to woo his new bride, but still has an ego the size of the Black Sea. He quickly realizes there is more to Hannah than meets the eye and puts in a good effort to make amends. Their story ends on a positive note but considering the short time frame that this story takes places in just seems rushed.
At first I was like... I don't think this book is for me...? I have a very hard time with books sometimes that have a blurred line between consent and not consent. I get CNC. It's not consent, but it actually is. But... just because someone is physically ready to have sex and shows signs, does that make is consensual? She very clearly said she didn't want it. They never spoke about a CNC kink. He literally said I will force you if I must because I get what I want. But in the middle of it, she was down for it. And the MMC even admits he forced himself on her. If I am anything to go off of, being pressured into sex is still assault. Especially with a power dynamic.
Just something to think about, I suppose. If you are into this, it is literally none of my business - let your freak flag fly. I am only explaining why I was wary in the beginning of the book.
I ended up continuing as it surprisingly did not trigger me. In saying this, he some what redeemed himself after finding out about her past trauma. Should that have mattered whether she had trauma or not? No, obviously not.
I was a little thrown off at first with the age gap, but after fully reading I think I'm understanding that they are a couple of years apart.
Rurik while demanding is also loving, caring and protective over Hannah. Hannah, young and inexperienced was also settled with false and negative views on marriage and the, unthinkable but confirmed actions of her father.
I hope to get a glimpse of the couple as the series continues. I would love to see how they grow and develop in their relationship, if only from simple conversations and possible guidance.
As for the storyline, there are unresolved issues, I wonder how the Ismailov's will handle the threats brought against them.
I knew after reading the synopsis alone that this Rurik and Hannah's story was going to be fiya.🔥🔥 And indeed it was! Rurik had an vendetta again Hannah for her betrayal against his family involving his sister Yelena. And for that betrayal Hannah would become good wife. Oh my goodness was this book a-ma-zing! The chemistry and fiery exchange of words between Rurik and Hannah made this book sexy, deep, sassy and very very jaw dropping. Jailaa West has delivered a very exciting, entertaining, jaw dropping, love me an alpha Bratva series. The storytelling was very well written and most definitely well worth reading.
I think the author could have given us 15 more words by adding the meaning of the russian words in the book. I don't understand why she had to strip if he cut her clothes off. What was she stripping out of...the pieces.of her shirt and bra. Seems she just opens her arms and let the pieces fall off. Then her legs went around him and her arms did the same but the author just wrote that he handcuffed her to the bed frame. Then I guess they changed a word struck it out but did not delete it from the "book". This is a very quick read more of an essay, even a short story since its less than 100 pages.
The story is excellent, but challenging to understand.
Actually, the first time I started reading this, I put it down and walked away. I came back to it months later and stuck to it.
A whole different culture, different traditions... As a result, I struggled to understand what was going on. Many of us have read enough stories with Bratva to follow the path clearly. But this one had twists thrown in that needed a bit more explanation. Written as if we would KNOW instead of needing clarity.
I enjoyed this, in spite of being seriously clueless. The Bratva I've understood was here, but there was more that I didn't.
Hannah took his stone heart and broke it just like his mother did to his father. Rural was patient and waited for Hannah to grow up. He watched her chatted chatter with his sister Helena and k job we she was it Gor him. But her father had other cruel p!and for her and She'll stoke her just in time to make her his. In the beginning he was a very unlike able person set in his ways. Hannah managed to soften his heart.
This story ended too abruptly with an unsolved mystery behind who paid Peter to do what he did.
Great read! Hannah is kidnapped by Rucik Ismailov who has known her for years because his family and her family work together and she's his younger sister's friend.Rucik marrys Hannah so he can protect her and have a family with her. It's Hot because they have feelings for each other. This mafia man will kill for her and she has to forget about the things she was told by her mother and the way her father was to her.😊.
Taken by theBratva Prince ( The Ismailovs Book 1). This book is very short, but it is funny, sexy, with plenty of banter, and some action. Rurik and Hannah Ismailov are a trip. 😂 They are imperfect but are a perfect match for each other. Check it out!👍🏽
I would of given this book five stars, but I got to the point that I realized that whoever edited this, really did a bad job 🤔. So much info was left out and too much trivial dialogue was left in 😕. Otherwise I really loved this story 😃. Thanks again Jailaa, I'll read the next book, but I really hope it is edited better 🤓.
Confusing and Clarity needed in storytelling. What time was this book written for the 1800’s or present day? One chapter is written about an airplane and mentions school but then they carry on like Russia is living like the Cold War. Love the author; this story not.
Rurik and Hannah’s story is truly every girl’s dream. To be wanted, cherished and protected. To love their alpha man. Great story. Great characters. Enjoy.
All's fair in love n war. Am old time saying but kinda fits this story. A very quick read but still all the drama, angst n loving in a good Mafia story. Loved the characters. Real short but a good read if you like Mafia romance. And a great H E A.
It took me awhile before I stopped considering Rurik a jerk. Hannah, I like. Both suffered at the hands of their fathers when they were children. I like the plot. The plot has action and steam. I will read the next book. I hope we find out how Rurik's sister is doing.
Hannah helped her friend Yelena escape her family. Now Hannah is caught by Rurik Ismailov to be his wife and he is not giving her up. Being the Bratva Prince is a hard life and Hannah learns some hard truths. When she is almost kidnapped, both learn that hate and love are closely entwined.
Loved all of it. A innocent girl not knowing anything about lust, her body or a man either. Loving Fearsely and still speaking her mind coming onto her husband too
Hot and heavy in just the right amount. Rurik knew she was his from the beginning, and she just gave him what he needed to execute his plan. They always fall first and almost ruin it with being so possessive and bossy lol.
This was interesting and definitely held my attention. It was short but packed with all the good steamy stuff. Looking forward to reading the next installment in this series.
Rurik who fell in love with her and wanted to protect her even when she was too young. she came into the relationship believing what her mother told her, she didn't know love or desire. or how to enjoy her husband. a forced marriage turned into a loving marriage.
Ah, those Brat a men. Love how manly and strong they are portrayed. And the women who are strong enough to stand up to them. Can't go wrong with a book like this.
He treats her like a slave he's so cruel to her, he is a terrible person so is her father, that man needs to pay for her childhood and the little girl he raped.
