Edgar Manley is a peculiar child who feels threatened by the world shifting around him. On one especially dreadful day, he receives news of his father's death and that guardianship will be passed to his estranged uncle. That night, while fast asleep, his mind becomes consumed by terrifying dreams inhabited by a voice warning him of an ominous narrative for both him and his twin sister Louise. The following day, upon arrival at his new home, the foreboding words come to fruition when the uncle disregards Louise as though she doesn't exist. Resentment fills his core as he grows convinced the new keeper has a hatred against her and prefers them both deceased.
Left to delve alone in his speculations exacerbates his animosity, allowing the evil presence to infiltrate his innocence, fueling his vengeance. Is the Shadow just a figment of his imagination, or is it a dark beast that possesses him, feeding on his unanswered prayers? Is this familiar narrative coming to a finish, or is this just the beginning?
Brigitte, "Gitte," Tamar was born in a small rural Oregon town. Growing up, she was enthralled by scary tales featuring poetic tones and consistently gravitated towards writing darkened narratives. In the different storylines, Brigitte explores the harsh realities of social issues faced by today's generations. This includes the dark outcomes brought on by peer pressure, addiction, homelessness, mental illness, childhood trauma, and abuse. She feels it is essential to share narratives that refrain from sugarcoating the topics society tends to shy away from.
Another goar filled horror story from gitte Tamar! This author really knows how to shock us! The descriptions are very full on and pack a powerful punch. A perfect read for Halloween for sure!
The main character is fantastically creepy. I could have closed my eyes at times throughout ,hoping it would spare me the horrors of what I was about to read🤣. This can be read as a standalone but there are three in this series. I still have to read the first installment. Individual characters are fab too. They serve their purpose well.
Shadows that tempt is still my favorite so far. Will defo read more from this author..I have had her on my radar for a while and I have read a couple of stories now.
Many thanks to the Author and Publisher through Booksirens for this spooktacular book! I received this for free and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This is a strange read. Horror? Yes. Gore? Yes. Lots of monsters and monstrous people. A child who is not a child. Violent, heartless, and sadistic. A twin who may or may not be real. Creatures and the dead in shadows. Shadows that have great power…
The plot is quite interesting, but I find the descriptions often repetitive and overdrawn. The pace and overall tension could be much improved if the writing were more concise. This is the third and final book in a series, but can be read as a standalone.
Disclosure: I received a free review copy via BookSirens.
This was another great entry in the Shadows That Speak series, it has a great suspenseful atmosphere that the other two books had. I enjoyed the way Gitte Tamar can write a realistic horror novel with the paranormal elements used. I hope there is more in this series.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
It started with Daniel Manley and came full circle to his son Edgar. The Shadow now has a body he can take over at will.
There are a lot of supernatural elements in this trilogy, and for once it appears that evil has the upper hand over good. It also begs the question "If th3e circumstance is right, would we all succumb to the whisperings of The Shadow, or only those of us who are born with an inherent evil nature"?
Think on it!
