A beautiful, slightly slow burn romance read.

Lyla - an influencer and Harrison - a highly regarded journalist got off on the wrong foot when they met for the first time and it took them a while to smooth things over with each other.

I liked both main characters, especially Harrison. Tbh, it frustrated me that there was not even one chapter with his pov, since the whole story was told by Lyla.
He didn’t have the best of childhoods, hence his distant, reserved and hard demeanour.

Their relationship developed gradually and they didn’t fall in love from the first chapters.
Harrison was such a jerk to the heroine, exuding vibes of hatred and unwelcomeness. I wanted a deeper development of him, because any glimpses I had through their conversations and behaviours were not enough. There were so many wonderful aspects under his exterior that I would have never guessed and were not exploited here.

The secondary characters were very interesting, yet of all of them, Ben touched my heart. His relationship with Lyla was wonderful!!
There was a grand revelation towards the end, I didn’t suspect at all, that left me speechless!

This was the first book by K. Bradley and I will definitely give a chance to her next one, despite my displeasure of the single pov. I liked her writing style as well as the premise of this story!

I saw my friend's Dora review and read it.
I loved it! Great writing, very good dialogues.
I wish it had the the hero's pov and less about the heroine's job.
Thank you Dora 😍💝

MY HEART!!!

“Of all the stories I’ve heard and told, this one is my favorite. Because it’s ours.”

Lyla Foster is a 26 year old fashion influencer who runs a blog called Stardust Road. To bring more to her blog she decided to move to the city that never sleeps, New York City. With the help of her best friends fiancé; Sage, she finds a place quickly. Sages NYC apartment she doesn’t use. All is great until she discovers the apartment isn’t just Sage’s it’s also her brothers and he’s back from London.

Harrison Tyler is a 30 year old journalist who travels the world writing stories. But when he doesn’t need to travel he stays in his apartment in New York City. This time when he came home he came home to a big surprise, that surprise being Lyla. He didn’t want her there, so he tried everything to get rid of her.

That was until life started happening after certain events he decided not to be friends but something like that. Something they called insignificant others. Life keeps handing them curve balls left and right but together they power through just enough to figure what they are and who they are.

I loved every twist and turn in this story! Between the main characters, their family and friends you didn’t know what you’ll learn next and I loved it. As usual you have the obvious stuff that will come along in a romance story but there was so much more. I was definitely hooked on Lyla and Harrison from the moment they met. Lyla may be sensitive but she knew how to hold her ground and I love her for that. Harrison also grew and learned to love fully which was so beautiful.
I recommend this story to anyone looking for a quick romance book to read!

3.75 stars. Enemies to lovers. Forced proximity because roommates. I loved that the main female character had a close intimate friendship with a man who was not a love interest. And that she got along so well with his girlfriend. That feels super healthy to me.

The male main character comes off as a total ahole. They have a series of escalating pranks/jerk moves but he has a big turn around when he realizes he’s really hurt her feelings. He has a past lover that’s still involved in his life tho I’m also unsure about that part because it wasn’t clear to me what was going on. She acts like she’s totally cool with the female main character becoming a love interest after what I thought was a jealousy attack so I’m unclear without rereading. Tho.. they aren’t involved now. The female main character sort of goes on a date with another guy but it doesn’t go anywhere.

Overall, I liked it. I laughed and cried but also felt like the characters needed to grow more. I have a thing for healthy communication and both characters need to grow in that.

Finished it in one sitting! I just finished reading a very intense and heavy book and this was the perfect palate cleanser. Just enough emotions to make you squeal without being too over bearing.

If I had to be really picky with what I didn’t like, I would say some of the characters actions are lil questionable but nothing that deters me from the enjoyment I got from this book. Some characters though were amazing, for example her assistant. Hands down my favorite character.

My biggest complaint though is that it’s been touted as enemies to lovers. I don’t think it really fits that trope. To me a legit enemies to lovers, the leads originally have no positive emotions towards each other. This was more of male lead is a butthead to lovers. He was attracted to her from the start but needs to push her away cause of trauma. She thought he was handsome but a jerk. Not really enemies in my mind. The banter between them was top tier though. Personally I think it’s more of a grumpy sunshine trope plus forced proximity with some good ol angst. The angst was just right!

Either way, still highly recommend. I’m about to shove this book into other peoples faces.

4.5/5

This was great! Lyla and Harrison, single POV from Lyla’s view. I picked this up after following the author on TikTok. She’s really funny, so I wanted to give her book a try. So glad I did.

Lyla is blogger/influencer, normally reading about a character with an “online persona” is a bore, but I didn’t mind it here. It did NOT cause any drama. Harrison is a big grump. They end up sharing an apartment and Harrison is very clear he doesn’t want her there. They fight, prank each other, until Lyla just has a bad day and Harrison finds her crying. He realizes he went to far, and their relationship turns after that.

This was a good contemporary. There’s a little plot twist at the end that’s more about the heroine’s family dynamics than her relationship with Harrison.

This a debut, I’m pretty sure self published novel. There are some editing mistakes, continuity gaps. There’s a side character whose name changes at the end, and I’m pretty sure Lyla gets a text her assistant is on her way up to the apartment and a minute later she starts going down on her boyfriend…. In the kitchen! I’m not holding this against a new author though.

checked all the boxes, hit all the right places

If you’re looking for a well balanced, fun, fast paced romcom this is it. The banter is great, the characters are adorable, relatable and have great development. I would recommend this to anyone trying to get out of a readying slump. It captured my attention and made me want to keep coming back for each page.

Critiques: Lyla has a few moments of being a little immature, but here’s the thing - we all do!

** VERY SLIGHT SPOILER - I did feel a little bummed that we didn’t get to hear what he says when he proposes :( END OF SPOILER***

there was one chapter in particular and seemed like it didn’t get a final grammar edit, and once where Zane’s name wasn’t change from what I assumed was originally Jace. With the exception of that the pacing was amazing, the characters were lovable and even with these I still felt it deserved a five star rating

This was a super cute forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine romance with some additional twists that really worked. Lyla moves to NY from Seattle to expand her brand as a fashion influencer and moves into a flat on the Upper West Side that she winds up sharing with her bestie’s fiancé’s brother who wants nothing to do with her. The supporting characters were a delight and well enough developed to have their own stories (I’d love to read a book about Svetlana!) but they didn’t detract from the main story being told. I especially liked the subtle emphasis on love languages and how one may not be able to say the words I love you but it is overwhelming with their actions. Something I don’t think is portrayed super often in books!

I also just realized I’ve been following this author on tiktok positively cracking up at her romance trope videos. 😂

"I’ve never been in love before, but now…
I definitely see what all the fuss is about."

Just the right mix of slow-burn romance, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and spice.

I love the main and secondary characters. I love how the story unfolded and progressed. I wanna say I pretty much guessed what Lyla & Ben's "secret" was but it didn't really spoil the story for me.

There were also a few spelling & grammar mistakes and a few inconsistencies but I wasn't really bothered much.

Such a great debut novel and I can't wait to read Kathryn Bradley's other book and future releases.

To Lyla,
Of all the stories I’ve heard and told, this one is my favorite. Because it’s ours.

WOW.... I have no words... After a book like this I wish I had the skill authors does to express my gratitude for an awesome book!

I loved the story. The characters and the right amount of steam. I love steam in a story, but when it overpowers the story then it just becomes boring.

This book had a story to tell and the steam only enhanced it and did not take away from the story.

I loved it so much that I didn't want it to end. Awesome job! Think I just found a new fav author!!!

I love this book! I got so mad at Harrison I almost DNF but I’m glad I did. It takes a talented author to make you hate a character so much but then fall in love with him not long after. I read this on kindle but I’m going to have to get a physical copy. I will say I knew lyla and her bestie were siblings long before the reveal came but that’s ok. It made me understand the relationship way more than If I didnt. Such a good read!

Chasing Stardust

This was a really cute book. I found this author on TikTok and I’m so glad I did! I love a good grumpy roommate/sunshine girl story. There are some interesting twists in this book (a couple of which I very much saw coming within the first chapter) but overall a cute book.

4.5 rating. I believe this is the debut novel for this author and I really enjoyed the story. I think her MC were both interesting and just complicated enough to enjoy them getting together. The side characters added to the plot without taking it over. This is low angst novel. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This was cute, though not as good as the author's more recent release. I did appreciate that the FMC stood up for what she needed in a relationship and knew herself well enough to know that while it might have been an overreaction to some people she really needed it, but I do wish that there was some level of compromise rather than her just eventually getting what she wanted.

I’m torn on this one… Overall, I really, really enjoyed it. I finished it in one sitting, in fact. But Harrison did and said a lot of things that were toxic, and it felt like Lyla just kind of forgot about it when he apologized because “aw Harrison is sad”. Boy, get some therapy.

I haven’t been in the mood to read a normal, boy meets girl, enemies to lovers story. But this one hit me right in the feels.

DNF

I’m hate to have two DNF back-to-back, but I just couldn’t be bothered to finish this book. I really loved the story concept/idea, but the writing is painfully awkward and kind of clumsy. It didn’t flow at all - it gave too many boring details in an unnatural writing style, and it just lost my interest. The storyline also seemed to flop.
