I love it when the strongest, smartest heroine with the biggest heart gets paired with a hero who’s just a little—or not so little—out of his mind and completely obsessed—or more like insane—about her. I love it.
Thank god it’s finally over—I wasn’t even a fan of this series, yet somehow, I devoured all the volumes in one go like I was possessed. I live for those wild, messy, toxic relationships in fiction, like, the ones that dive deep into the chaos, show the fallout, and make the characters realize they totally screwed up. But I cannot stand when they try to pass it off as some perfect love story with a ‘happily ever after’ that has no real growth or redemption. This thing? It had the nerve to paint all the abuse and manipulation like it was some epic, true love. And that totally ruined it for me. A tragic waste… though, the art was absolutely breathtaking.
"Would you sacrifice your honor to marry a Duke? In order to save her family from ruin, Chloe Verdier must find a groom for her sister, Alice. She soon runs into the handsome but arrogant Duke Thisse who makes a proposal that could save them. When Alice flees with a mysterious man, Chloe must seek out the Duke in the biggest gamble of her life."
So... general tl;dr poor girl marries rich-dickhead. Runs away with handsome counterpoints (possible nod to pride and prejudice), leaves sister to fullfill said contract with aforementioned rich toxic psycho. ... Starts out with showing that he's not so bad, leading his troops in battle (his father gets killed and beheaded etc).
2/5 the drawing is good. writing quality is below a telenovela.
It's still ongoing.. on season 2 now but damn the FMC is so strong and dignified! One of my fav so far. She has got a limp (which is a significant plot point in the story) and isn't physically strong but mentally and emotionally 💯 Her husband, the crazy Duke, is a bit unhinged lol and manipulative but totally obsessed with her! The art and the plot makes this one Amazing read! 👏
Para qué escribís un personaje femenino tan bueno, tan inteligente e interesante si igual vas a hacer que perdone todas las atrocidades que cometió el protagonista cuando ni siquiera se disculpó ni se arrepintió de haber hecho lo que hizo xd
Smart heroine who doesn't give a duck to hero's act. Even though hero is the worst person, evil manipulator... I don't care. cause I've seen him going crazy for her. He is super jealous, possessive and madly obsessed with her. I ABSOLUTELY loved IT
MMC alphahole Royalty Betrayal duh. angst Marriage of Convenience i think? 💭 MMC BIG RED FLAG 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 Has dark themes w/ tw but no r-19 scenes
Oh my god this story is INSANE I DIDNT EXPECT… i shouldve read this sooner and I am so tempted to read the Novel. The pain and the angst the FMC is experiencing :( I could understand why she was experiencing trust issues I WAS ABOUT TO THROW MY PHONE ACROSS THE ROOM BY THE END OF THE SEASON.
But this man bless his delicoous ass of a body. The FMC. I just love the flow of the story, but it was kind of too underwhelming on how the ughhhh so called mini villain went? Haha well thats just me. But I am still catching up with the next chapters and I NEED MORE. Its just getting juicier and juicier. She thought she could outsmart him, but mwhaha *evil laugh*
So glad Manta finally provided an official English translation for this novel. I’m a reader of the manhwa and have heard how good the novel is. Damien’s still a massive RED FLAG 🚩 but a well-written red flag nonetheless!!! Seeing his perspective was interesting and added more layers to the stuff I already knew happened. I also loved Chloe’s character and how even though she is a passive, dutiful character; she is not weak. Looking forward to seeing how their relationship develops in future volumes. The prose was also surprisingly great.
It started really strong it then it just didn’t go well. He didn’t deserve her and they didn’t even give him a good redemption arc it was just oh no she’s not dead and I will find her no matter what everyone says and completely ignored what he did or if she wanted to get back with him, he only cared to have her. They do make a better job with the extra chapters and I get why they hid them cause it would’ve been to obvious he did fall for her and the girls who like abusive romance wouldn’t be interested but i feel like they could’ve at least made more chapters of him regretting LIKE REALLY regretting her death and the lost baby cause it was NOTHING. Like what are these people teaching other people
Read vol 1 and it was so bad. The protagonist needs to stop crying every second page, the author needs to stop writing about Damien's blue hand veins every single chapter and for god's sake damien isn't cruel. His words just bite, the girl is overly sensitive and he's completely nonsensical bc the writing is bad not bc he's a complex character. Save your money.
Read season 1. I didn’t mind the beginning, didn’t like the middle, hated the ending. I’ve dropped this series. I don’t like manipulative asshole main characters.
