Tate is a single dad to Lucy since she was a kid. Her mother died and her godmother Clara kind of was her surrogate mother. Now Lucy is getting married and needs both Tates and Clara's help with things..... They finally can admit their feelings for each other after so many years as just friends. But Clara was Tates late wife's best friend...... This could be a problem.... Or maybe not?? 😉 A sweet, romantic, bittersweet and beautiful story about getting a second chance at love for Tate and for Clara to finally find her HEA😍😍😍😍

After the death of his wife, Tate had the help of her best friend Clara in raising his daughter Lucy. Now that Lucy is grown up and getting married Tate is realizing how much Clara has meant not just to his daughter but to him too. I loved the relationship between Tate and Clara and I was cheering them on to get their happily ever after. This is a beautiful second chance at love story with likable characters and a perfect ending. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.

Tate and Clara know each other because she was his late wife Jennica's best friend. Clara has been there throughout all of Tate's daughter Lucy's life, she's her godmother. Lucy announces that she's getting married but she needs the help of her father and Clara since they want the wedding to be next month. Lucy tells her father and Clara that after she's married she'll be moving to the other side of the country. Lucy tells her father, Tate and Clara that her boss is keeping her busy so she doesn't have time to plan the wedding. Lucy sets up appointments for her father and Clara to sample cake tasting. When Tate and Clara arrive to sample cake they assume they're the brides parents. As Tate and Clara sample cake he starts to wonder why he never thought of her as something more. Tate notices Clara has some cake on her lips so he brushes it off and pops it into her mouth. Clara and Tate decide on the cake and then he gets a messages to go next door for his fitting. Lucy asks her father to take Clara to get fitted for her dress. Then Lucy asks Clara to go with her father for his fitting so he doesn't pick out something outlandish. While Tate tries on his tux he pulls Clara close to him and kisses her, but they are interrupted. Clara heads next door and tries out the dresses Lucy has picked out for her. When Tate appears Clara isn't sure about the dress but he tells her she's beautiful. Tate tells them he wants Clara in this dress so she gets fitted. When Clara tries to take off the dress her zipper gets stuck, so Tate helps her with it. Tate then pleasures Clara in the dressing room. Clara wants to keep this from Lucy she doesn't want it to ruin her wedding. Lucy invites her father and Clara over for dinner but Clara declines, telling them she's tired. The next day Tate mets Clara at the restaurant waiting on Lucy. Tate wants to tell Lucy but Clara doesn't while they're talking she walks up. Lucy asks what they're keeping from her, Tate tells her they're in love. Lucy tells them both it's about time, she been waiting. The wedding is a mixed bag of emotions, after the I Do's. Lucy makes a speech, that Clara is her fairy godmother, and she's looked out for her, she's always been by her dad's side, she's their rock, heart and soul of their family, their foundation, in her heart she calls her, her mom. Lucy tells Clara thank you for choosing them to be her family. Tate tells Clara. they should make this plus one official. Later Tate and Clara have a hotel room, he pleasures her then they make love. Clara tells him she loves him and Tate tells her he loves her she'll always be his plus one.

Choosing your family

His Plus One by Piper Cook is part of the multi-author Father of the Bride series. This story is a heartbreaker in several ways but also glues your heart back together with a sweet and warm love story. The story is about Tate and Clara. Tate was married to Jennica and they had a beautiful little girl named Lucy. But Jennica was taken when Lucy was still young leaving Tate as a single father with no clue. In stepped Clara, Jennica's best friend. Clara was also shattered by Jennica's death but she stepped in to help Tate, both through grieving over Jennica and raising Lucy becoming her "fairy godmother". But Clara became much more than that as the three of them formed their own family. Clara could not have children so helping to raise Lucy filled that void even as she missed Jennica. Now Lucy is about to get married to Graham and they will be moving across the country for a new opportunity for Graham. Lucy wants to get married within the next month, maybe two, and she is relying on both Clara and Tate to help pull it off. What Lucy does though is also play matchmaker, helping Tate and Clara realize their true feelings for each other after all these years. Let's just say that if you ever go cake tasting, tuxedo fitting and dress shopping you will never look at these the same way. Yummy and dirty naughty the whole way to the sweet HEA.

I really loved this story even if it has an undercurrent of heartbreak. I could see this situation in real life, and holy hotness with the wedding planning!!!

Tate was a single father of a little girl Lucy after his wife passed away tragically. Her best friend Clara helped out as if she was the mother figure Lucy didn't have. Tate tried his best but Costa was always there for both of them.
Once Lucy finished College she had announced she was getting married and also moving across the country with her new husband.
Lucy asked her dad and Clara to help with the wedding. Both agreed but when Lucy asked if either of them were bringing a date, it dawned on both of them at different times they don't want to bring a date as they wanted to be each others. So when Lucy told her dad to get a suit for the wedding and made Clara go along. It was them that he realized he was really in love with her.
Even though Lucy set everything up for them to spend time together to realized they were meant to be. They had to show each other that they loved each other. Took all those years for Tate to realize he loved Clara. Lucy always loved Clara and always thought of her as her fairy godmother.
The two of them figured out they had been played by Lucy but loved her for it.

Tate is a widowed single dad to Lucy who is getting married. Clara was best friends with Tate's deceased wife and God Mother to Lucy. She has been assisting the two of them since Lucy was a toddler. She was there for assistance with hair braiding for school, all the functions a parent would attend and the 3 of them formed their own little platonic family. Lucy is newly engaged and claims she doesn't have time to handle some of the details and asks them to handle things for her. These two have some chemistry & finally admit they have feelings for one another but don't want to say anything to Lucy so she can focus on her wedding. This was a sweet romance and I enjoyed this couple. Loved that they were together doing couple things and acting like the parents of the bride... but how did that happen, is someone playing cupid?? Read this short enjoyable romance to find out.

Tate tragically lost his wife and mother of his child Lucy when Lucy was still a baby. Since then Clara, his wife’s best friend, has been someone he and Lucy have included in their family. She’s always been there to step in and help when needed. Now Lucy has just announced she’s getting married and moving away. This has Tate wondering if Clara will move on now that Lucy has grown up and married. Clara has been more then happy helping Tate raise Lucy and has suddenly realized that her feelings for Tate are turning into so much more. This was a wonderful story with lots of feels. Tate and Clara are so busy raising Lucy that they put themselves second until suddenly they’re looking at each other in a new light. Tate and Clara are perfect for one another and have lots of heat and with the help of a ‘match maker’ they finally see the light. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Tate has been a single father ever since his wife died. However, if it wasn't for his wife's friend Clara he doesn't think e would've been able to do it alone. Now his daughter Lucy is getting married and she wants the both of them to help plan her wedding. This has Tate and Clara tasting cakes, going to get their clothes together and picking flowers. Things starts to change between them with each part they are planning. Soon they give into each other and admit they want to be together. What will his daughter say about them being together? Can they get their happy ending?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Clara and Tate . . .

When Tate’s wife died, her best friend Clara immediately helped him take care of his daughter. Clara was Lucy’s godmother and was a seamless part of the family even from that early beginning. Lucy announced her engagement and Clara again helps with all of the work that goes into a beautiful wedding. But Lucy was what brought them all together. Now that Lucy will marry and be starting her own family, will Clara step away? Or will Clara and Tate realize that the comfort of having each other in their lives is something that should be cherished? Do they realize they have been a family all along? Is there a HEA for Clara and Tate too if they take that final step and accept their love?

Tate and his daughter Lucy lost their wife and Mother when she was just a toddler. Bringing up Lucy would have been tough on his own but his wife's best friend, Clara stepped up to help. She became like a mother to Lucy and a member of the family. Now Lucy is all grown up and getting married. She has asked her dad and Clara to help with wedding arrangements. It is starting to sink in with Lucy moving away, that maybe they will not be in each others lives any more. Tate decides that he always wants Clara to be his plus one.

His Plus One…FINALLY!
OMG, I’m in love with Piper Cook’s “His Plus One” from the multiauthor Father of the Bride series! Tate, a widower and single father, and his longtime friend, Clara (who was a close friend of his wife’s and whom his daughter refers as her “fairy godmother”), are gearing up for his daughter’s upcoming wedding and helping with last-minute details. When they admit to themselves that what they feel is far beyond something platonic, the heat between them ramps up in a big way. These two are such lovable characters - so vulnerable, funny, and sweet - that I absolutely adore them and couldn’t put the book down!

This is a really sweet story about a father and of the bride and his wife’s best friend who together, have helped raise Lucy after her mother passed away. Tate has relied on Clara since her best friend and his wife died when Lucy was three. These two have been together and work together to raise a beautiful girl and it’s only when she is getting married that they realise what they have and acknowledge their love for each other and go to have their own happily ever after.

Single dad Tate has counted on his wife's best friend Clara since his wife passed away. Now his daughter is getting married and he is ready for more than friendship. Piper writes such beautiful insta-love stories! They touch my heart so deeply. Part of it is some of her stories have older heroes and heroines. Don't get me wrong, I love the 20 and 30 somethings but it is so nice to read about people closer to my age. But the major reason her stories touch me is the heart she writes into each one. She just gets me. This is a real quick read. Pick it up, you won't be sorry!

Wowsa this book was so good and had me enthralled from the beginning until the end and the storyline flowed throughout the book and you could definitely connect with the characters emotions. Tate is a widow with a daughter and Clara was his wife's friend but they're each otgers rock after losing jennica but now Lucy is getting married is this end of them being close to each other? It was such a great story.

I loved this story. While it's focused around a wedding, we focus on the father of the bride and the bride's godmother. This is a different take on the wedding story. It also focuses on an older couple which isn't often the main focus in a romance novel. It's a quick story, but it's got all the elements needed for it to feel complete. It even has a rather heartfelt moment in chapter 8 that tugs at the heartstrings, but in a good way.

When Tate’s wife and Clara’s best friend dies they spend years working together to bring up Tate’s daughter, Lucy. They are a couple in all things parenting and are each other’s rock and support. Now Lucy is getting married and moving away. As their lives change they realise the feelings they have had for each other all along. With a little behind the scenes push from Lucy they admit how they feel and leap into their own HEA. Sweet, emotional romance with amazing chemistry and lots of love!.

This was such a great book - I just loved it! This author is one of my favorites so I expected nothing less. Clara is essentially co-parenting with Tate. Lucy is Tate’s daughter and Clara’s best friend’s daughter. Unfortunately, Lucy’s mom passed away when she was 3 years old. Clara immediately stepped in to help and support both Tate and Lucy.
As Lucy prepares for her wedding, Tate realizes that his feelings for Clara run deeper.
I truly enjoyed this book. I highly recommend it!.

This one was better than #4, but it still had the issue of the page numbers not showing. I didn’t like chapter titles all of a sudden. But this story was way more believable since they’d known each other for a long time. It was really cute and just enough spice. This story really came together nicely, and it didn’t feel rushed.

I thought it was weird that the daughter gave up her cake tasting to get them together though. That’s kinda an important thing about weddings.

Bonus chapter was spicy!!!

Loved it! Another hit for Piper Cook. I love these Father of the Bride books. This one finds Tate and Clara, friends who are raising Tate’s days after her mother, and Clara’s best friend died when she was 3. Now she’s getting married and trying to play match maker with Tate and Clara. A great, quick read with great characters.

I thought that this was a great book. I really like Clara and Tate together. Even though these two have known each other for years, but now with Tate's daughter's wedding here, these two finally realize that they were each other's person. I really enjoyed this book and I really liked that this was a later in life romance. I would recommend this book and Ms. Piper as a great book.

If you like warm characters, charming humor, and weddings this is the perfect series for you. Clara and Tate have great backstories, intense feelings and emotions, as well as strength and determination. The storyline is well written, great banter and plenty of steam. Loved their connection and how they overcame the problems, while those close to them got even closer.

Sweet short romance that leaves you wanting more. Tate and Clara were such a great couple and the chemistry was off the walls. Considering the circumstances under which they ended up together this relationship was just so healthy all around and the support of Tate’s daughter Lucy made it all better as she was actually supportive and played a huge role through her tricks to get them together.

Clara stepped in to help Lucy and her father Tate when her mom died. Her mom was her best friend so it felt only right to help take care of Lucy. She and Tate are close but they have never crossed that barrier. When Lucy gets engaged and they assist with her wedding plans will they end up getting closer? Short feiends to lovers romance with a HEA.

OMG this book was AMAZING!!! This is my first book from this author. But by no means my last. Clara and Tate shows that love knows no bounds and the heart wants what it wants. But I gotta say I wish I knew I would need a box of Kleenex while reading this book. Piper Cook got this girl doing the ugly cry. 😭 I loved this book so much I went back and bought it. I see you Piper Cook! To got yourself a new fan. 😁

After her mother passed, Lucy and her father Tate relied on her mothers best friend Clara, to keep them grounded and on the right path. Now Lucy is about to be married and she plots to match up her favorite people. Laughed so much and loved the characters as they form a tight bond. The dress shop was very entertaining. Totally enjoyed the story and loved the ending.

Talk about a long overdue romance. I get that Tate was overwhelmed raising his daughter but to not see what was in front of him with Clara was kind of unrealistic. Their friendship was terrific but the timing of the whole wasn't what I was expecting.
