“You are mine. Mine for as long as it amuses me to have you. Mine until your debt of shame is paid.”
Just a few more days and I will be out of the interstellar spy service, free to settle down and finally have a baby. But I’ve made a powerful alien enemy. And he hasn’t forgotten about me.
Sithren sees females of all species as possessions. He keeps a harem the way others keep zoos. Just when I least expect it, he captures me. Revenge isn’t enough. Sithren requires my complete humiliation.
I’ve faced monsters like him many times, but he’s not just brutal. He is also the most intelligent creature I’ve ever known. I have to escape before he breaks me down completely. This is much more than a war of wills. It’s a battle for my mind, my body - and maybe my baby.
Amazon Top 100, USA Today bestselling, and #1 bestselling author in multiple Amazon categories, Loki Renard writes sizzling hot, occasionally dark and twisted stories of dominance, submission and discipline.
This started off great. The plot itself was an interesting and compelling idea and the author has talent as a writer, that’s easy to see. But the FMCs constantly repetitive internal dialogue of “I’m not giving in” to the alien MMCs plans followed by “I gave in” every. single. time. got tired so fast. Every moment was just a set up like a comedy team performance. I prefer my spice to happen organically.
Alien romance is my favorite sub-genre. But I keep bumping up against authors who dangle the possibility of a plot with depth and nuance and instead snatch it away with a sudden erotic shove. There is no shame in writing erotica. Please just write it and stop doing this bait and switch writing that promises plot but doesn’t deliver on it. Be clear in what you’re offering. When I want erotica, I read erotica.
Tess has worked for the Alien Authority but now wants to settle down and have a baby. Granted she is a wanted woman. She tricked Lord Sithren and never expected to see him again. No such luck. He has found her and now she will be part of his harem. Tess isn’t about to be captured and be his pet. He can humiliate her but he will never have her mind and body. This is a battle of wills. You think Sithren is a cruel alien but we learn that isn’t the case. Tess is not only fighting him but herself. The attraction is there. She just isn’t willing to believe it. We learn about Sithren and his daughter Tethyn. He isn’t as bad as we are made to believe. He has a heart. He just needs Tess to realize he can give her everything she wants. And Tess needs to see if for herself. She also needs to feel the love that is there. I really liked this one. Yes, there was hot sex and discipline with a hot alien what else.
Harem is a feel good surprise from start to finish!! It begins as a sinister alien abducts a human female for nefarious reasons but morphs into something so much more. I laughed, mourned for what was lost, and even cried at one point in the story. You will recognize that moment when you read this fabulous story.
At its core, it’s a story about finding love where and when you least expect it but true love won’t be denied. Tess starts out hating the oh ssso sssexy Sithren, but if she can put aside her petty grievances IMO, she will be able to see what is standing right in front of her. Sithren knows Tess better than she knows herself in many ways and uses this to further his own agenda up to a point.
And I do mean oh ssso sssexy when it comes to Sithren from his ssscaly, ssscrumptious, body to that wicked, forked tongue that he is an expert at using!! He gives Tess exactly what she wants, HOT, dominating sex with a touch of delicious pain!! And Tess in her own way provides Sithren with what he needs by being a strong, intelligent, woman who knows how to survive.
Ultimately, this is a story about love, hopes, and dreams finding a way if you let them. If you love alien/human romance, I highly recommend Harem and if you don’t, please give it a chance. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
After what seemed like a successful mission for Tess that ended in utter humiliation for Sithren, she finds her ship commandeered and herself in his clutches. Pain and humiliation ensue, but also immense pleasure and even love. I was deeply moved by Tess’s strong desire to leave her old life behind and become a mother. Her best-laid plans are laid to rest, but what she gets is much more than she could have ever hoped for with the Authority. No connection matters but complete supplication to the Authority. No life matters unless it was lived in service to the Authority. And that’s no way to live. The cruelty of the Authority is on full display. This story also allows us to see Sithren in a new light. Apparently there’s more to him than being a misogynistic jerk. Much more. They’re both survivors capable of more than I expected. I felt so many things. Tess and Sithren’s story is a well-written, delightful, delectable literary work of art. It was a pleasure to read.
Loki renard used to be an instant buy for me,then the quality of the plots and likablity of the characters *to ME* went down. Then they did an upswing, and for better again. I enjoyed this book. Tess' whining about "the patriarchy" got old, really quickly, but the plot twist and subsequent storyline were very interesting. And tethys was the cutest!!
Harem (Possessive Protective Aci-Fi Alien Romance Series) by Loki Renard. I love a good sci-fi romance and this series has been waiting on my TBR for quite some time now, and as part of my reading challenge this year is to try to get through as many of my TBR as possible, coupled with the fact the fact that I had the entire series sitting, waiting- well it was a no brainer. #whodoesntloveagoodbingeread This is Lord Sithren and Tess’s story. She's a spy on the verge of retirement- and she's eager to get her last assignment done and dusted. But instead, she ends up in enemy hands- a powerful enemy out for revenge. He captures her and tosses her into his harem. She's determined to escape before he can break her.... but fate might have other plans. Sci-fi romance with drama, angst, darker elements, possessive alpha male, challenges, twists, chemistry, steam, BDSM, and more. Happy Reading…
A spy for the Authority, Tess is ready to retire and have a family. Her plans are derailed when an alien kidnaps her in retaliation for one of the jobs she did undercover. Taken to Sithren’s world, Tess is forced to become a member of his harem, and to learn a few lessons along the way…
This was a weird book in a way. Tess is not the most likeable of characters, but then I would say her past has definitely defined her. Sithren has his own demons to deal with, and Tess captured his eye during some difficult times for him. Despite the weirdness, it was an entertaining read, lighthearted and amusing at times. There is sex, action and adventure, and a little BDsM thrown into the mix. If you’re a sci-fi romance lover, then suspend reality for a while, and enjoy this SFR escape.
Oh, I so dearly Love Loki's stories and this one is definitely Awesome 😃. Fantastic storyline, great characters, yummy sexy scenes and intense moments will keep you turning pages long into the night 🌛. Thanks again Loki, you're truly an Amazing writer and I can't wait to read more 🤓.
Every book that I have read from this author is amazing!! Strong willed women, ruthlessly morally grey alpha males, fantastic world building, and the smexy times…🔥🔥🔥🔥🌶👌🏽!! You can’t go wrong when you want dominant, gives zero lucks alpha, as this author provides.
This was a hard book to get into but after a chapter or so it got interesting. I still haven't figured out exactly what kind of alien he was. I have an idea but nothing concrete. Do others feel the same way? Maybe the author could make it a little clearer what he or any characters like him are if she writes other books with this same type of alien.
Word building sucked(very repetitive) I just know this was written by a male. The insults which I suppose was meant to be dirty talk was so off kilter it distracted all the ‘intimate scenes’ not at all what I was expecting from a supposed strong female with battle skills being told to sit down her worth is naught compared to a male she is to breed and be quiet.
Don't get me wrong, the story is great. The problem is if you read Rebellion, the book before Harem, they don't mesh. I was pretty bummed. Things happened in Rebellion with Sithren and Tess that I was looking forward to read about. And I feel cheated.
4.5 🌟 The book is short but packs a punch, with unexpected twists and turns. Believe me when I tell you that you don't know how it will end by reading the first 2 chapters (or the title). 🤯 As often with this author there's some heavy emotional masochism for the heroine & it's pretty dark at times. Unbelievably human and raw. Maybe even a bit mystical.
Loved Tess and Sithren, they are so different to each other and enemies as well. Their journey to a hea is fraught with her issues of wanting to escape and have a baby and he’s keeping big secrets. Well written and a real page turner by Loki Reynard. Highly recommend.
Let me say first, that i love loki Renard. This author always delivers the good stuff. This book is no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, the plot, and of course the ending. Well developed story. Great characters n the best HEA.
She sacrifices everything and ultimately makes no changes to better females in that society. She only accomplished becoming that which she did not want to be - a kept woman.
I went in to this thinking, alien abduction story, blag, blah, blah. Nope, it starts with a revenge twist, then I assumed it would proceed as usual. Nope, plot twist. All very well done and an excellent story.
I didn't expect Tess to be easy, and she wasn't. I didn't expect the story to unfold in the delightful manner it did. This story was well worth the wait.
Unique, interesting, and steamy plus lots of alien babies- I can’t get enough of this series I haven’t been disappointed yet! I am excited to read the next book 📕
