This author knows how to write a good cozy. Meadowbrook was such a lovely place and the characters were diverse and quirky. Mary was an amazing friend, so honest and funny at times as well. But most of all, I loved Louisa's mother. And the romance that is brewing between Louisa and Eli was what made me smile throughout the book. Coming to the mystery, Louisa gets involved in solving the murder of a reviewer who trashed her shop after eating there. I, as usual, pegged the wrong person as the perpetrator so that ending was a surprise. I cannot wait for the next book.

Ms. Lindsey has delivered another top notch cozy mystery in this first book in her new cozy series,Thelma & Louisa Mystery Books. With her descriptive writing, I was intriguing by Meadowbrook, a cottagecore community. I had never heard of this type of community before but now I would love to visit one and experience it for myself. This is a spin-off series from her Bonnie & Clyde cozy mystery series but introduces a whole new set of characters to meet and enjoy getting to know them.

With a quickly paced plot, a few deft twists, red herring that led me astray, well defined characters that will only grow more as the series continues and then the dramatic reveal made this one great cozy mystery.

I voluntarily read a digital Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Welcome to the cottagecore community of Meadowbrook where Louisa Eggers has made her home with her favorite Polish chicken Thelma. Her mother would rather have her living at home and helping with the family business but she is working hard to have her own success with Souffle the Day selling quiches and souffles.

Her business has been open just three months and she had high hopes that a local food critics review would drive even more customers to her little cafe but instead, he gave her place a scathing review. When he returned she was hoping to change his mind so she served him up a delicious quiche. After just a few bites he keels over dead and Louisa is scrambling to prove her innocence and save her business.

Louisa and Thelma may have to crack a few eggs to get to the truth but she is not going to chicken out until she catches the real killer.

We first met Louisa in Burden of Poof, the first book in the Bonnie & Clyde Mystery Series but this book can be read all on its own.

Louisa is a wonderful main character. She has settled in the communal community of Meadowbrook, a neighborhood in Cromwell, Georgia with her inherited goats and her flock of chickens. She is determined to make a life there for herself which is the total opposite of the socialite life she was brought up in. She truly is living her dream until one little review could bring it to a very early end. A little quirky, she puts Thelma in a cage and takes her everywhere with her and the chicken loves it.

We also meet her friend Mary, who is totally driven by one thing, selling/trading her eggs. If Louisa’s cafe fails, that affects Mary in a major way. The friendship between the two women is there is just not a warm and fuzzy one yet. I do like the way they banter.

Then there is Eli. There is a palpable romantic charge between him and Louisa but she really doesn’t know much about him and why he has settled down in their little community. He and Mary are all in to help Louisa sleuth out the killer. He also steps up to keep her safe.

Louisa’s mother is a true southern woman who loves her daughter so much she will do anything for her but she really wants Louisa to come home and take over her rightful role at Laurelwood which has become a living museum. Louisa is happy to help but her life at Meadowbrook is her number one priority.

All the characters Ms. Lindsey has created are delightful, human, and animal. From the core characters to the supporting cast, they feel genuine and their dialogues feel true to life.

The mystery she has wrapped these characters in is very well-plotted with several suspects. She dished up some egg-citing twists that pulled me deeper into the plot as I tried to solve it all before the big reveal. I failed as the true culprit flew completely under my radar. I do love it when I am surprised at the end.

The author also tangles some romance amidst the mystery. Eli and Louisa are taking it slow but there is a wedding at the end that had me smiling and giggling a bit too.

No Farm, No Fowl was an egg-cellent start for this series. Engaging characters and a great mystery had me entertained from the first page to the last. There was a cliffhanger at the end to lead readers into book two and I can’t wait for it to be released. I hope to spend a lot of time in Georgia with these characters.

“No Farm No Fowl” book 1 in the Thelma & Luisa Mysteries by Julie Anne Lindsey. OMG I love her new series featuring Thelma a Polish Chicken! I can see this being another hit, Julie is already one of my favourite authors and per usual I was not disappointed.

It’s out of the frying pan and into the fire for Thelma and Louisa in this new farm to fun cozy mystery series!

I LOVED this book! I was left smiling once again and didn’t want to leave this happy place. I like how the author ties it to her other series and I hope we have a joint investigation in the future between Luisa and Bonnie.

I found the characters (both human and feathered) a delight to read about and the setting of Meadowbrook in Cromwell, Georgia was so charming and fun.

The mystery is well-written and plotted. There are several red herrings and twists to keep the reader engaged. I suspected the killer halfway through but then changed my mind, as there were other viable suspects.

I look forward to reading all the books in the series and highly recommend to all my cozy mystery loving friends.

I voluntarily agreed to read a digital copy of this book supplied by the Author. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.

This is the first book in the Thelma and Louisa series. I love everything by Julie Anne Lindsay and this new series is no exception. Louisa runs Souffle the Day, selling quiches and souffles. After a bad review from a local food critic, Louisa sets up a meeting with him to clear the air. However, he dies after taking a few bites of Louisa's quiche. Louisa investigates to save her business. I loved all of the characters, though Louisa's friend, Mary, could have been a little less rude but I think that is the type of friendship they have. I loved all of the animals, especially her sidekick, Thelma, a polish chicken. I will definitely be reading more.

I have been waiting for this new series and it definitely delivered!

Louisa's new souffle stand is not doing as well as she'd hoped and a review that promised to help instead turns the situation from bad to worse. The review was bad, including badly written, and then the reviewer ends up dead after eating something from the souffle stand. Louisa is picking up a cue from Bonnie and is on the case - not only to catch a murderer, but also to keep Souffle the Day from going under.

I was so happy to see Louisa's character and story begin to be fleshed out in this first book. I was also excited to see that her and Eli are getting closer, as friends? Or more? I hope Eli's story is drawn out in the next book.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

No Farm No Foul is a spin off from the Bonnie and Clyde mysteries, but it can be read by itself. Louisa’s new business is taking off and people are loving her eggs and the tasty dishes that she makes with them.
Not everyone is happy for her new venture and when one of them turns up dead after eating at her cafe, it is up to Louisa and her prize winning hen Thelma to find out who really is responsible, before her whole business goes belly up.
A quirky read, love to see what happens next.
I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

Another excellent first in a new series from Julie Anne Lindsey! Meadowbrook is such a unique place, I’d love to visit the cottagecore community. Louisa is a tough, kind, and relatable sleuth, who I already knew I loved after meeting her in the Bonnie & Clyde series. Thelma the hen has quite the personality and is just as lovable as the rest of the characters. Louisa’s friend Mary is prickly and brooding, yet proves to be a loyal and true friend. I loved the dynamic between Louisa and Mary so much. Then, there’s Eli. Holy hunk of firewood chopping Irishman! He’s dreamy and one more book boyfriend to add to my list! Louisa’s mother reminds me of Emily Gilmore in the best way. She clearly loves Louisa and would do anything for her. The mystery kept me guessing and I was tricked by a red herring! I will be not so patiently waiting for the next book in the Thelma & Louisa Mystery series!

Julie Anne Lindsey has done it again!! After reading book one in her newest series I can already tell this is going to be another great cozy mystery series from her. I love the fact that this is a spin off from her wildly successful Bonnie & Clyde series. You do not have to read that series in order to follow along with this one, although if you haven't yet, I highly recommend you do just because it's a great series.
I love the cottagecore setting of this book. The author does an outstanding job of building wonderful characters. There is a nice mix of mystery with just a little bit of romance. I am excited to see the romance blossom between Louisa and Eli. The author gave us a nice plot twist at the end and of course left us hanging as she started building the plot for the next book in the series.

No Farm No Fowl is a spinoff from Julie Anne Lindsey's Bonnie and Clyde series, and I am so happy that we get to read more about Louisa and her chicken, Thelma, as well as getting to learn more about the quaint village they live in.

Louisa has a great side-kick who is surly and a wonderful balance to Louisa’s always sunny personality. We also get to learn more about Louisa’s neighbor and probable love interest, Eli. The reveal on him was a fun surprise and will tie in well with upcoming books, I imagine. Lindsey always shines when it comes to writing fun, quirky, and well developed characters. How can a miniature donkey wedding not be amusing?!?

Another fun and fast read of a cozy mystery series by Lindsey and I’m already looking forward to book two.

No Farm No Fowl is a spinoff from Julie Anne Lindsey's Bonnie and Clyde series. This book is set in Meadowbrook, a small simple-living community in the larger town of Cromwell, which neighbors Bliss, which is the setting for the Bonnie and Clyde books. Readers of that series have already met the narrator and heroine of No Farm No Fowl, but you needn't have read the others in order to enjoy this one!

Louisa Eggers grew up a socialite and she knows that she will one day have to step into her mama's high-society shoes. In the meantime, though, she is living her dreams by raising chickens and operating her souffle stand. Her sidekick, Thelma, is a prize-winning chicken with personality and panache!

As No Farm No Fowl begins, Louisa is eagerly awaiting a food critic's review of her souffle stand, Souffle the Day. But the comments turn out to be not at all was she expected or hoped for. She is determined to speak with the critic and persuade him to give her place another shot. Louisa seizes the opportunity when she finds that he--and many others--are at her barn-turned-food-stand, but that encounter ends even worse: with the food critic dropping dead at her feet. When the police put Louisa at the top of their suspect list, she and friends Eli and Mary launch their own search for the killer.

No Farm No Fowl is a quick, fun read for curious sleuths. And, if you enjoy it, be sure to check out the Bonnie and Clyde series, too!

Okay, I'm not going to lie. Julie is a dear friend of mine. But I truly enjoy reading her books, and I'm so excited for this new series. A spinoff of the Bonnie and Clyde series, this one focuses on Louisa Eggers, who lives on a sustainable farm community in the town of Cromwell. Cromwell is next door to Bliss, where Bonnie Balfour lives. Bonnie and Louisa met in the last Bonnie book, and it's great for Louisa to have her own series. She's younger than Bonnie and doesn't have as much life experience, but she's quirky and fun, plus she has a delicious love interest who's not a detective!! In her first outing, Louisa encounters a food critic who pans her new shop, Souffle the Day--and then he dies in her cafe. She's got to clear her name and find out who really killed the man. I liked the fresh twist in this one. It's tough to keep coming up with plots when you've written as many mysteries as Julie has. I highly recommend this series and all of Julie's other ones!

I was excited that Julie Ann Lindsey chose to offer a spin off series following the Bonny Balfour series set in the fictional town of Bliss, Georgia.

I loved Bonny. Her cat Clyde. The sheriff and the town of Bliss.

The new series is set in the adjacent town.

I hoped that Louisa who was introduced in the Bonny series could 'pull it off'. In her secondary role as an almost murder suspect she is timid shy and real quirky.

But give Louisa her own series and she steps up and shines. Along with her prize winning pet chicken Thelma.

Louisa marches to the beat of her own drum and searches out the answers.

Who wouldn't when the victim dies at your brand new cafe and your almost the suspect.

Louisa's 'frienemy' Mary from the Bonny series steps up and decides to like and help Louisa. Louisa has a crush on her neighbor Eli. The feeling is mutual.

Joining the cast is Louisa's mother along with the story that explains why Louisa is the way she is.

Mom is a grand southern lady and she knows it. And she will tell you so if your naive enough not to get it.

I 'got it' and I loved her. She works behind the scenes using her position in town to get a few answers and help Louisa.

After all the mystery is solved everything ends happily with a wedding (no spoilers). I loved how the author includes subtle references to a couple of her other series.

The only bad part about Louisa and Thelma's debut . . .

It ended!

Oh I hope book 2 is

In the works

I enjoyed the beginning of this brand new series.

I received a complimentary copy.

I love the communities Julie Anne Lindsey builds in her different series. This one in particular, we get to see how the other half lives, after learning that the people of Cromwell don't really mix with those of Bliss from her other series. The mystery was interesting but since this was the first book in the series, more time was spent in world building than investigating. A previous murder investigated by Louisa is mentioned several times (again, from the other series) and it got a little confusing for me because I couldn't really remember the details but it didn't take away from the story. I loved the addition of a living history museum and can't wait to see that used in another storyline.

I received a copy from the author for an honest review.

This is a spin off series from Julie's Bonnie and Clyde Mysteries and it was amazing. Julie really does out do herself with every new release. Louisa is such a kind and sweet soul. Someone you would love to have as a friend and to have in your corner. So many great characters. Her grumpy bestie makes me LOL. The town they live in is unique. I can't not wait for Thelma and Louisas next adventure.

What a wonderful spinoff from Lindsey’s Bonnie & Clyde Series. Louisa Eggers has opened a souffle shop, Souffle the Day, in her cottagecore town of Meadowbrook. A critic dies at her eatery. Apparently, his opinion wasn’t very kind to her business. Louisa must clear her name and while attempting to do what seems like the impossible we learn a lot.

We learn about her background. It’s not what it appears. We learn about Liam and he is determined to keep her safe. We also learn of the other town members that care for Louisa and her hens. Maintaining a simple life and business is what Louisa wants but will she get it.

I so enjoyed this story and the quick visits of characters from the Bonnie and Clyde series. I can NOT wait for the next one but sadly, I must.

I was given an advanced copy but these are my opinions.

Great book..... Where shall I begin. I have really enjoyed getting to know Thelma and Louise. It's funny thinking someone carries around a chicken places as someone would a small dog in a purse. Anyway.... After reading the first couple of Bonnie and Clyde books (note, do not need to read first before this series) we got a glimpse of who Thelma, Louise, and Eli were. Now that they have their own spin off series you get to learn a lot more about them. It's fun to see the friendship growing between Louise and Eli. I'm definitely interested to see what happens next with them. Miniature donkey wedding added a fun/interesting twist to this book. It's interesting to learn it's actually a real thing. The mystery itself (no spoilers) was interesting too, i was definitely surprised to learn who did it. Definitely cannot wait to read more. Will be interesting to see if there will be more character crossovers in both series.

No Farm No Fowl is the first book in the Thelma & Louisa Mysteries by Julie Anne Lindsey and it was the perfect beginning to a new cozy series.

It’s about the adventures of Louisa and Thelma, who we first met in the Bonnie & Clyde Mysteries. They were instantly lovable and I’m so glad they get their own series!!

Louisa is suspect number one for the murder of a local food blogger who just happened to give a bad review of her café. With the help of her friends, Eli and Mary, she must figure out who is framing her before her reputation and business are ruined forever.

I really enjoyed this one and liked getting to know more about Louisa and the cottagecore community. Eli, Mary, and Louisa’s mother are fantastic side characters and added a great dynamic to Louisa’s story.

I encourage you all to pick up this short and sweet read soon. I am looking forward to the next!

This was such a great new cozy mystery by Julie Anne Lindsey. Thelma, the chicken, is the perfect side kick for Louisa. Meadowbrook gave me the same small town feels as Bliss, Georgia from the Bonnie and Clyde series. I love the organic, simple lifestyle that Louisa has. I have raised chickens before, so I know how rewarding and beneficial they can be. Her little café, Souflee the Day, seems like a charming place to visit. This book had a nice array of supportive characters. Louisa's friend, Mary supports her in everything. Her mother just wants her to embrace her legacy. The character I loved the most was Eli. I hope down the road Louisa and Eli will embrace the sparks they both are throwing. Julie Anne's talent for writing a good mystery keeps me entertained and wanting more.

No Farm No Fowl is the first book in Julie Anne Lindsey’s new Thelma & Louisa Mysteries series. This new series is a spin-off of Ms. Lindsey’s Bonnie & Clyde series, with a new cast of characters. Louisa Eggers lives in Meadowbrook, a cottagecore community in Georgia, with her almost constant companion, Thelma, a Polish hen. Louisa is busy raising hens, caring for her 2 pet donkeys and running her café, Souffle the Day. When a food critic is murdered at the café, Louisa must track down the killer before all her dreams go up in smoke.

The setting is intriguing. I had never heard of a cottagecore community, but the descriptions sound like a lovely, quiet, peaceful place to live. I can’t wait to read more about Meadowbrook. The characters encompass a wide range of personalities, there is someone for everyone to identify with. It’s a tie for my favorite character, Mary Acres, Louisa’s closest friend, or Victoria Eggers, Louisa’s mother. Characters are well developed, and there are some surprises to remind us not to make snap judgements about people. The mystery is cleverly plotted with some twists to keep the reader guessing. I had no idea who the culprit was before the reveal; I completely missed the subtle clues. In the final chapter, Ms. Lindsey gives us some hints about the next book, which I’m anxious to read.

I highly recommend this book, and although it’s not necessary to have read the Bonnie & Clyde mysteries before reading this new series, I think readers will enjoy them just as much as this book.

I received a digital advance copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Louisa Eggers has just gotten her Soufflé shop launched when she gets a bad review in the paper and then the reviewer comes back and dies after eating some more of her food. Between her neighbors and her mother, she has plenty of support, but that might not be enough to keep her out of jail when the cops find an ingredient Louisa doesn’t use, and the reviewer was deathly allergic to, in the soufflé stand.
This is the first in a new series for Julie Anne Lindsey, a spin-off from the Bonnie and Clyde mystery series. Louisa is a young woman, in her mid-20s, who shares an optimism and energy common to the author’s protagonists. She raises blue ribbon chickens, and took in a pair of miniature donkeys that a couple departing her small enclave couldn’t take with them. Neighbor Eli, a lovely specimen of a man with a hidden past, is protective of her and it would appear that in books to come their flirtation might get more serious.
As always, the characters and community come to life in Lindsey’s writing, and between the characters and the farm animals, there’s no shortage of humor. This is a delightful cozy, and I can’t wait to read what the author has in store for Louisa and Thelma (the chicken).

Y'all need to run grab this book as soon as it hatches!!! I have yet to find one of Julie Ann Lindsey's books that I did not throughly enjoy. However, this book is one of her top 3 best, in my opinion.
No Farm, No Fowl has it all. A fun, quirky cast, loveable animals and their antics (who doesn't want to attend the wedding of miniature donkeys), a Mother who means well and one hunka hunk of an Eli!
Souffle the Day is just getting up and running when the local food critic drops dead in front of all of Meadowbrook. Now Louisa, with some help from her friends and her chicken, Thelma, is out to find the culprit. Soon enough Louisa is receiving anonymous threats at every turn. Can she figure out who killed Mr Flint before her neck is on the chopping block and the real kill flies the coop?

No Farm No Fowl is the first book in the Thelma and Louisa Mysteries by Julie Anne Lindsey. Former debutante, Louisa Eggers lives a quiet life in the cottage core community of Meadowbrook, raising her blue ribbon hens and miniature donkeys. When she decides to open a soufflé stand, however, trouble comes a calling. When a food blogger who posted an awful review of her soufflé stand drops dead while eating a dish from her establishment, Louisa becomes the prime suspect. Since the police are only focusing on her, Louisa takes it upon herself to find the real killer before her she becomes the next victim. No Farm No Fowl was an absolutely wonderful start to this fun new series. As always, Julie Anne Lindsey combines mystery, humor and a touch of romance flawlessly. I’m anxiously awaiting the next installment!

Wow oh wow! Julie Anne Lindsey can’t write a bad book/series! No Farm No Fowl is the first book in the Thelma and Louisa Mystery series; a spin-off from her self published Bonnie and Clyde Mystery series (also a 5 star read). Book one follows Louisa Eggers and her hen Thelma as they work to solve the murder of a local food critic who drops dead after eating at Louisa’s newly opened soufflé stand.

Once again, Julie creates a world that I’d love nothing more than to call my home; minus the murders of course 😉 I didn’t know anything about the cottage core lifestyle, but I’m really intrigued and looking forward to learning more throughout the series. I loved all the quirky characters and how even the animals had their own personality. And that ending! 🤯 I need book two already!!

If you love a good cozy mystery that keeps you guessing until the end, then go buy this book right now!

In short: Louisa is eagerly anticipating a good critics review of her new shop, Soufflé the Day, however it doesn’t turn out well. She hopes to convince him to give her another shot but instead he’s found dead at her cafe and she’s the #1 suspect.

What I liked:
🐓Excellent 1st book in this new series, a spin-off from the Bonnie & Clyde series
🐓Thelma the hen. She’s a hoot!
🐓Budding romance between Louisa & Eli
🐓A miniature donkey wedding 😂

My thoughts: I loved this book and the start of a new series! It was a fun, fast read with quirky characters, lots of sleuthing and red herrings and a hunky neighbor. I can’t wait for more to come!

So loved this book. In this spin off from Julie's Bonnie & Clyde novels, Louisa has gotten her souffle shop open. She is preparing to get a visit from the local newspaper to be reviewed. Also, Louisa is starting to prepare for the wedding of the donkeys she took under her care when the neighbors left. Unfortunately a bad review is followed up with a death & Louisa feels she must investigate. With her faithful companion Thelma, her hen, and two neighbors, Mary & Eli helping, Louisa starts to figure out what happened.

I love the way Julie always blends family, small town society, friendship with humor in her stories. Highly recommend!

I absolutely ADORED this book! After meeting Thelma and Louisa in the Bonnie and Clyde series, I knew this would be a fun story. The cottagecore setting was lovely, and I loved the miniature donkey wedding. Louisa is a slightly quirky but endearing character and Thelma has so much personality! As per usual, Julie Anne Lindsey has written a fast paced, fun mystery with just a hint of romance. (Who doesn't love Eli?) I loved the plot twist at the end, and I cannot wait for book 2!

No Farm No Fowl is fantastic. You have to read this story. It has everything from a critique that has gone horribly wrong to a donkey wedding. Julie Anne Lindsey delivers once again with this next installment in Thelma and Louisa's antics.

The relationship that is beginning between Louisa and Eli is thoroughly entertaining. The reader can feel Louisa's torn feelings about her mother. Louisa wants to be her own person and yet she also understands how important family is in life. I enjoyed how Ms. Lindsey creates new interest in the next installment. I will definitely be reading whatever is to come for Louisa, Eli, Mrs. Eggers and their friends.

Born a socialite but wanting a simpler life, Louisa Eggers moves to the cottage core community of Meadowbrook and starts breeding Polish chickens. Louisa and her feathered bestie, Thelma go about trying to live a simple life until things go awry and Louisa is determined to find the killer. This doesn’t stop her from planning a donkey wedding for Jack and Jill. I loved the tidbits about cottage core lifestyle and it’s simplicity. Looking forward to more about Eli and his past in future installments!
