Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Jeremiah was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Dr. Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.
As Dr. Jeremiah was sensitive to God’s leading in his life, he followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1963, Dr. Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College. In that same year, Dr. Jeremiah married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson who also was attending Cedarville College as a business major. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. He completed additional graduate work at Grace University and was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.
In 1969, Dr. Jeremiah began Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed a Christian school grades K through 12. In the 12 years he served as pastor, Blackhawk Baptist Church grew from 7 families to 1300 members. He also launched The Bible Hour television program.
Dr. Jeremiah heeded God’s call, and in 1981 he and his family moved to California where he became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church.
Shadow Mountain Community Church is one of the largest churches in San Diego County. It is also the home of Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools.
As Dr. Jeremiah began his ministry at Shadow Mountain, he felt God’s calling to continue the broadcast ministry he started in Fort Wayne. In 1982, Turning Point Ministries became a reality.
Today, Turning Point's 30-minute radio program is heard nationally and internationally on over 1800 stations and translator/satellators. In recognition of Dr. Jeremiah’s commitment to teaching the Word of God, he received the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 1999 from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), in August 2002, received the Award of Merit from the Western Chapter of National Religious Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting and Faithfulness in Service, and in 2006 Turning Point received the Best Radio Teaching Program Award. Dr. Jeremiah has served on the Board of Directors for the NRB since 1996.
Turning Point launched a television program in 1982 in San Diego and went nationwide in 2000. Now seen around the world through cable and satellite technology, as well as on terrestrial stations all across the United States, conservative estimates suggest that close to 200 million homes around the world have access to Dr. Jeremiah's Bible teaching each week. Turning Point Television offers a half-hour Bible study message and a full hour worship service with the same great preaching. Carried on several national and international networks such as TBN, ION, and INSP, Turning Point Television has most recently been added to Middle East TV Network and BET, the Black Entertainment Network.
Dr. Jeremiah is a sought-after conference speaker for organizations around the country. He frequently speaks at Cedarville College, Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute, Billy Graham Training Center, Phil Waldrep’s Senior Adult Celebrations and numerous NFL, NBA and Baseball chapels.
Along with his speaking schedule around the country, Dr. Jeremiah also finds time to fulfill another passion in his life, writing. His books are always gripping and right to the point. Some of his books include Escape the Coming Night, The Power of Encouragement, What the Bible Says About Angels, Prayer The Great Adventure, which brought him The Gold Medallion Award in 1998, God In You, Gifts from God
Excellent for believer and especially non believers!
I highly recommend purchasing this book for anyone who may be left behind after the rapture. Preferably in paper, not digital. Powerful, well spoken, honest and lovingly said truths backed by scripture. Dr. Jeremiah pulls no punches and holds nothing back from the reader. You can feel the desire he has to save those left behind. In every chapter he gives them the hope of Jesus provision. He explains what happened, what is about to happen and what will happen for a thousand years. This was a labor of love. Don't let your !over ones who haven't decided to follow Christ wonder what to expect, where we went and how they too still have a chance. Get this book and give it to them. If they don't read it now, perhaps they will when we are gone.
Reading about the End Times can be intimidating, but it’s important to do to have an understanding of what is to come. This book is written as an explanation for the one who finds themself “left behind” about what is happening and what still lies ahead.
Good book. Covers what to expect after the rapture happens for those left behind and interested enough to read a book about it. Since most people now days seem to have a difficult time reading more than headlines, I feel this book could have been shortened. If I was stuck in the tribulation and reading to find out what's going on and what's going to happen, I wouldn't be looking for stories pastors tell to make a point. I would want the facts. In my opinion, this book is about two-thirds fluff and one-third meat. Don't get me wrong, it's a good book and covers just about everything you'd need to know, but it's very casual. It has no feeling of urgency. That's why only four stars.
A guide for those left behind and Christian eschatology primer:
Dr. Jeremiah is a well-respected author about the Bible’s end times prophecies. “After the Rapture” provides a straightforward and clear explanation about the coming Rapture of the Church and the events that follow, as set forth in the Bible.
The book is structured especially to be of benefit to people who were left behind after the Rapture. It describes the horrors of the post-Rapture period but also delivers a message of hope- that God still loves the reader and wants the reader to accept the one and only gift that will protect him for eternity. With this primary target audience in mind, the book is a basic primer on Christian eschatology. Each chapter contains an encouragement and prayer for the reader.
After the Rapture occurs, there will be many people who are looking for an explanation of what has happened and what it means to them personally. Many people will want to read this book, if they can get it. But there will be supply chain problems in that era and there will be efforts to censor books like this, which won’t fit with the narrative pushed by the Antichrist and his minions. I hope that many people will purchase Dr. Jeremiah’s book now, read it, and share it with people they love.
Christians who are well-schooled in the end times prophecies will find it a handy reference tool (about 240 pages including a Scripture listing and reference notes) and will appreciate Dr. Jeremiah’s approach for sharing the Gospel message with his targeted audience. The book would be a good gift for unbelievers whose hearts are being softened by God. Christians might want to include a copy of the book with their last will and testament, in an envelope marked “In the event that I should vanish.”
This is a really good book basically written for a future audience, an audience who has lived during the coming rapture but was not saved and so now faces the tribulation. That being said it took me a little bit to get my head around the facts I gave in the first paragraph. Once there - I found it very interesting, informative, accurate to Bible teaching and readable. Anyone can benefit from this book [before, or after, the Rapture].
I question the value of books like After the Rapture. One fearmongering and wildly speculative treatise after another about the end times may or may not benefit believers in the pews, but they definitely benefit "Dr." David Jeremiah, who has a net worth of tens of millions of dollars and an honorary, not earned, doctorate. I'm skeptical that the church needs yet another sensational, poorly written pop-prophecy book, but this guy keeps churning them out—12 or more to date. It's very heavy on his opinion and very light on actual Bible scholarship. He states things as factual but cites no sources. I've never read anything else by this author, which makes me feel good about not wasting my time, but I was shocked at how bad the writing is and how highly regarded he is as a Bible teacher. Yikes. There are other views on the interpretation of Revelation, and I would encourage readers to explore some of those points of view and do some critical thinking on their own. Even the seminary this guy went to has walked back from some of this dispensational tripe, but I'm sure old dogs and new tricks come into play here. The only redeeming features of this book are the clear presentation of the Gospel toward the end and the humorously ironic statement he makes in one of the latter chapters, "I don't want to speculate..." As if he hasn't spent the previous seven chapters speculating with abandon. Try a different book; he's made enough money from the dispensational franchise.
Powerfully moving and well-written Dr. David Jeremiah explores Bible prophecy for the End-Times in “After the Rapture.” With clear insight backed by biblical scriptures, he explores the implications of a Rapture that will spark cataclysmic events on the earth. Yet through it all hope springs eternal with the arrival of the Messiah and the Millennium as well as the eventual renewal of heaven and earth.
In his down-to-earth writing style not only does this "guide book" prepare the reader for coming prophetic events but provides hope for the future and prayers for our guidance when reading it. Enlightening, it is an instructive witness to future events that can be shared with family and friends. I rate it highly.
It is difficult to write a review for a book when I am not part of the intended audience. The actual value and usefulness of this project remains to be seen. But I must admit, I thought it was excellent. Even though my timing is off, it does give a detailed description of the events that are to come. I firmly believe that this book will be a source of enormous comfort to its target audience - - and honestly, it is already a voice of comfort to us now. It is definitely worth reading even today.
What a great and original approach for a book: a survival guide for those remaining on Earth after the Rapture! Easily readable, Jeremiah is writing to the reader who has to survive during the Great Tribulation (the seven years when the antichrist runs the world before Christ's return). He describes what to expect and what conditions on Earth will be like and what to do. Both the 144,000 faithful Jews and angels will guide people toward salvation amidst the chaos and terror of the growing power and control of the antichrist, the beast and the false prophet. Believers will be persecuted, even unto death, just like in today's world, but God will give strength to endure until everlasting life comes. Interesting that those Raptured, plus those martyred during the Tribulation, will be united with their bodies at Christ's Second Coming, seven years after the Rapture, and will be part of the arny, along with legions of angels, fighting the final battle with Satan's forces. Better to avoid the Tribulation and get saved by the blood of Jesus Christ now -- instructions are in the book (and in the Bible, of course). But if you dither on making the most important decision in your life and get left behind, this will be one of the two books (the other, the Bible) that you'll need in the Tribulation. And if you don't decide by the end of the Tribulation, unfortunately, you won't be saved. Jeremiah also gives a preview of the world to come. Fascinating stuff!
I think this is the first time I’ve ever been glad NOT to be the target audience of a novel. Dr. David Jeremiah’s After the Rapture is a novel meant to be read after the Rapture. In this book, Dr. Jeremiah attempts to sway those remaining to give themselves to God. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is questioning their faith or in need of a push. As for content, the book is very solid and relies heavily on scripture which I appreciated. The book felt a little reminiscent of John Burke’s Imagine Heaven in a good way. Be sure to check it out.
Dr David Jeremiah is a wonderful author with many titles to his name.
This book supposes that the rapture has just happened, and all the Christians are gone. The time of tribulation is now starting, and how, despite all the terrible things just about to happen, you can still have hope if you can put your trust in Jesus. This is your last chance, so choose wisely.
I really enjoyed this book, and it won't be the last from this author that I read!
Dr. David Jeremiah has done it again! His "storytelling" style helps me to better understand the sequence of events that follow after the rapture and on through to the second coming of Christ. All is scriptually referenced. His studies help to keep me spiritually motivated and eager to share with others God's word. Thank you!
What a great book to be left behind for those who might need answers one day. Written so people can understand Gods grace and Jesus' love for us. I am washed by the blood of Christ and look forward for the rapture, 1000 year and finally the new heaven and new earth.
Dr. Jeremiah does an excellent job of writing about what may happen after the Rapture based on the Bible. He writes this book as if his reader was not raptured & is fearful of the circumstances they are in.
quite intense, being written from the POV of after the rapture, which really puts things into POV though.
super helpful and enlightening. first book I’ve read on Revelation after reading Revelation. I realize I did not notice/understand many details and the the bigger picture reading it the first time around, so it’ll be helpful to re-read Revelation after this.
fave chapter was the last chapter explaining new heaven and earth, and Jerusalem. it really created a vision in my mind. 1,500 x 1,500 x 1,500 mile city?? crazy. also “utopia” meaning “no place” but in actuality standing in as a word for the eternal longing humans have for perfection. the pearl gates, rainbow jewels, tree of of life, river of life, and key to enter… wow, I really did not comprehend the fullness of what is to come– new cities, new bodies, complete unity and holiness. lots to think on.
lastly, it challenged my current mental model of the world also, and how I’ve called heaven “afterlife”. but perhaps earth is “beforelife” and heaven is real “life”.
“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived– the things God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Cor 2:9)
It is in the 4-5 range, but I will bump up to a 5. It is a quick, but helpful read. Jeremiah is writing from the tense the rapture has already happened and the person reading this has been left behind. The book takes a pre-tribulation view of the rapture (which I do personally teach and support). It is concise, does not get too bogged down with theological terms to make it overly complicated for, what would likely be, an audience which has little to no experience with the Bible, church, etc. It moves fast, yet, I think still gives a sufficient enough overview of the End Times events. I want as many people to accept Jesus before the day happens. However, I know there will be many who will be here during the time and I pray this book will guide others to Jesus and help them navigate what will be the most tumultuous time in history. Believers have a good overview of the End Times in general and it can be a helpful tool in that regard.
4.5 stars. This book is so well designed, and the content is strongly orthodox. Written to a future audience of those who are alive during the tribulation period, much of the book is a survival guide and an interpretation of real events taking place in the future. I love the futuristic present as Jeremiah warns and encourages those who cannot interpret what is happening on earth.
Despite the future perspective, this book teaches the basics of eschatology in fairly simple language for those wanting to learn more about the end of human history. "After the Rapture" has many words of encouragement and many words of warning. With our world coming apart at the seems, this book may become reality very soon.
A very fast read. Intended for those left behind after rapture. Written to them, specifically. Unfortunately, this means that a lot of the content is a rehashing of things that we already know, as believers. However, as a tool to be left and reach people during the tribulation, it's effective.
Some points that I think he missed: The real reason for the millennial kingdom. Also, he didn't touch on the two evangelists in Jerusalem.
However, for Christians, this is a nice book to buy for non believing friends. Leave it in a conspicuous spot. Just in case
This end-times book is unique in that it is specifically written to those left behind after the rapture. The author urges his audience to receive the Lord as Savior before it is too late, encouraging them to persevere through the most horrific time of their lives. He prepares them for the extreme persecution and suffering they will face and the likelihood of death for their faith. There is hope in this book as the author explains the joys that await those who belong to Him when Christ returns. Great read...doctrinally sound.
Wonderful insights to surviving the World of chaos! I recommend it to everyone.
Dr. Jeremiah speaks in laymans terms backed by Biblical reference. I highly recommend this book for all to read. As a child of God, I wanted to read this book before I referred it to lost souls in my own family. My prayer is that God will soften the hearts of the ones who have not received his Son as their Savoir before it's too late.
This book is amazing! If you are not quite sure that you understand all about the end times and the Rapture in Revelation in the Bible, this book should clear it up. It may even give you peace. It is a great resource. It is great as a witnessing tool. It is a great book to be left behind for those who miss the first boat out of here and want that chance to be with Christ in Heaven. I pray all read it, and pass it on!
I so appreciate this book. Now that I have read it I will also be referring to it often to refresh my memory. I have read it,now I desire to retain it. I also want to read Dr. Jerimiah's new book about the golden age. This reader hung on to every word written because I was so intrigued.
An easier way to understand what awaits Believers. I would have preferred a more thorough explanation of the millennium. Jeremiah doesn’t mention Satan being released from bondage before being thrown into the final fire. What is the explanation for that?
As always was not disappointed with one of Dr Jeremiah's books. Lots of Scripture to back up what he said. If you like prophecy or want to know about revelations you will love this book
