Who knew that two words could shatter every hope and dream Briar had for her future.
You’re pregnant.
Most omegas dream of this, but the only thing Briar can think about is that awful night. While she suffers alone, her attacker gets to flaunt his perfect life in her face.
Until his assistant finds out her secret.
Now she finds herself being exiled from not only her dream job, but her home and city. The betrayal cuts so much deeper when her family is the one to put the final nail in the coffin that was her life.
Her brother, and only ally left, calls on his best friend. She knows no pack will want her, she’s carrying another alpha’s baby, she’s damaged goods. To her relief, the pack agrees.
But when she tries to get them to drop her off at the omega shelter, they refuse. Instead they offer her a temporary place to stay while she decides what to do next. The problem is that with each passing day she spends with the pack, she gets more attached.
When she agrees to be their date to a charity event, she didn’t expect it to change their lives. Secrets are revealed and when her attacker crosses her path again, she quickly realizes that her happy ending may be ripped away for good.
Will her new pack claim her as their own, or will she be forced to live a life she never wanted?
This is a contemporary omegaverse romance where the main character will not have to choose between her six lovers.
Jarica is an American author. She prefers writing paranormal and fantasy books. When she isn't writing she is playing her xbox with her husband and fellow nerd. She has two crazy boys who make writing a challenge, but one she gladly accepts.
I had mixed feelings on this one because on one hand this is a trope I enjoy, but on the other hand this really was another case of a poly romance masquerading as RH. I’d actually go as far as to say this was primarily a MM harem romance and the introduction of a female character felt like it was just to connect with the female audience and to be a pack uterus. I wish there hadn’t been as much emphasis on all the other separate relationships and that the focus was more on the FMC. It was hard to keep track of all the characters and who they were with and who was actually related to who. It just got weird. Also, 3 omegas in one pack was just too much in my opinion 🤷🏻♀️
This was super cute. I’m actually not a huge fan of pregnancy tropes but this one drew me in from the synopsis and reviews alone. I’m so glad I gave it a chance because this was so good! I loved watching these characters connect with Briar, she deserves the world.
My only complaint is that I wish it was longer! There’s a few scenes I would’ve loved to see. But overall, so enjoyable, definitely worth the read.
Soooo is Liam’s book next because I need that in my life 👀
Not worth rereading This was a mediocre book with mediocre writing and a sad plot.
The FMC stayed at MMC’s house for two months where she didn’t even feel comfortable giving them a friendly hug or hand touch. Then all of the sudden they are fucking and proclaiming her their new mate. That was a stark change with little to no build up. I just didn’t feel any love for the FMC from any of the guys. I was expecting a super sweet omegaverse and maybe my expectations got in the way here.
The plot to this story was negligible. The entire book is focused on bringing the relationships together, which is what I was expecting from this omegaverse. The idea to throw in a big bad guy as a nemesis didn’t work very well here. The author wasn’t at all successful in giving this book tension or suspense.
‼️Content Warning: lots and lots of MM, probably more MM than M/f. Pregnancy.
Came off like an MM romance with a female added to the mix. That thru me for a loop. Wasn't what I was looking to read. Don't mind MM in reverse harem as long as it don't make the female seem unnecessary or like an added toy for their collection.
I originally had this book on my not-interested shelf due to friend reviews, but then I saw some other positive reviews, and I felt like a cozy pregnancy read, so I started the book anyways.
The friend reviews were correct, and I DNF at 52% when the omega FMC Briar was involved with a detailed intimate scene with omega Beckham and alpha Graham.
I had thought it was a slow-burn romance which is generally more my jam, but when Briar was put on a timetable to find a pack, suddenly it was insta-lust and sex everywhere when the two months prior, she had barely interacted with the others physically. The change in relationship gave me whiplash and was not convincing at all. I didn't get the feeling that Briar had that much intimate experience, but she was all lusting and sleeping with the men with no hesitancy quickly after the contrived timetable.
I'm also not sure why I feel this way, but having an uncle and a nephew in the same pack sleeping with the same people was a little unsettling to me, even though I'm okay with siblings or cousins in the same pack in a similar situation.
I wasn't interested in a fast-burn insta-lust book with superficial relationships, and my friends' reviews seemed to summarize the book well for me, so I quit without finishing. I think this is the second book by this author that I haven't super enjoyed, so I suspect this author probably isn't for me.
I don't love omegaverse books. That is my conclusion. However, this was an interesting book about a girl who is sexually assaulted by her political boss, the mayor, and when she becomes pregnant her life starts to seemingly fall apart. Then in walks a friendly pack of handsome men who take her in at the behest of her brother, and the rest is history. It was a decent enough romance, but I really struggled to distinguish between some of the male characters. Honestly, it just wasn't anything special. I also felt like the sub-plot was really lacking because it felt like the consequences should have been higher stakes and higher drama which is saying a lot due to a spoiler in the middle of the book that amps up the drama. Plus there were scenes that could have added to the relationships to me such as maybe a slow-build scene between Briar and Tallon while playing video games, or a fun food-play cooking scene between Briar and Graham. I think these interests fell away rather than added to the book and chemistry between the characters. It could have been so much more than it was, but like I said it was still decent.
Love! Love! Love!!! This just became one of my favorite sweet Omegaverse offerings! Briar finds herself in a very unsafe situation after an SA. Her brother Liam, being the only decent member of her family, calls in friends of his to keep her safe. This was sweet and lovely with just a little delicious dirty. A touch of action, angst, and danger. Can’t wait to see more in this world. 💜
This was recommended when I was searching for Why Choose with MM & MMF included. It does have that and it started off good, but then quickly fell flat for me.
At first the MMCs are superficially distinct, but once James starts writing from their perspectives they’re nearly indistinguishable. I don’t really feel the attraction between Briar and each of the guys. The sex scenes seem to come out of nowhere.
Having finished more than half the book, I would have hoped to feel connected to the characters individually and have a better grasp of the Pack dynamic, but I just didn’t.
CW (up to the point where I DNF): Briar is sexually assaulted by her boss and this results in a pregnancy. She’s then kicked out of her house & City by her parents after they receive hush money from the man.
Loved this. I'm definitely reading more by this author. The spice was off the charts. The trauma and the pack dynamics and interactions, the love and comfort, the plot and relationship development all were freaking perfect. The ending was satisfying 💙
Nice characters and an enjoyable story well written. I liked the guys and how supportive they were with Briar. It was not an easy situation but I’m glad they found their way.
I was expecting a higher level of emotion though so I’m a bit disappointed on that note. I also would have liked for the bad guys to suffer more on the page. Still a good story overall in the omega verse that made me smile.
This book is soo good. If you love omegaverse this is a great one. So much emotion and steam in this book. Briar is sweet and sassy. Love how she doesnt let her past define her future.
I’ve only read the first 3 chapters so far (pre-release on a fab group🥰) but holy hell I AM OBSESSED. Can safely say that I’m hiding in my room on 21st May so that I can read this in one sitting
It was good. But then she had to insert her political bull and it just left me sour.
The part was discussing effn baby clothes and how horrible it is that babies are put in ugly gender specific clothes and how upsetting it is and they should buy all gender neutral clothing.
I just can’t with people. Seriously. Can you all please write books and lay off the heavy?
Hmmmm.. this one is a tricky one. I liked the first half of the book. But thenn… it turned downhill from there. First, I still got most of the mmcs confused. There wasnt a good enough distinction for me to distinguish them from eachother except miles, tallon, beck and ellis. Even still, it confused me a bit. Now plot wise… the first part was okay. Although a bit fast paced and straightforward… It still worked out but then.. It got cringey. Like really cringey to the point where I had to take several pauses to read. Dome of the parts in the plot were also totally not needed. It felt like it was just there to add more flare. AND THE ENDING??? That shit was so rushed man. For all the building up that the author was doing, I expected it to atleast last longer. Also more satisfying. It felt like it was put together last minute. I didnt like how separated this pack felt tbh. Like everyone had their own relationships in the relationship. That was not for me. It could’ve just been like 2 omegas instead of 3 personally and like another beta but oh well. 3 stars
I liked the idea of this book but around 50% the plot become a little ridiculous and unrealistic. I often found myself saying “How did they jump to that conclusion?” or “How is THAT the solution they decided on?” Additionally, the author wasn’t great at describing the world, surroundings, etc. Multiple times I was thrown off when a character would randomly join a conversation because the author hadn’t even told us they were in the room.
I liked every single thing about this book and inhaled all the words. This was a sweet read with just the right amount of drama to make it an effortless read. I could read books like this all day every day...
Think diversifying omegaverse is the reason the world is ending lets go back to simpler times when men meets woman woman needs dick men provides end of story
DNF 2.5 ⭐️ reads easily enough if it suits your taste.
Sorry to say, I’m bored right from the start.
It’s set up as dark and angsty, but then immediately goes into smooth, calm, and bland. Completely unbelievable.
She is supposed to be a rape survivor, who discovers she’s pregnant. Kicked out, and essentially sold by her parents, who are paid off to abandon and disown her.
Yet she’s all calm and rational. It’s treated like an unplanned pregnancy. Difficult, scary, but otherwise doable…
It just felt completely shallow and unrealistic. Not for me.
This was my first RH with more than 4 guys. There’s were 6 total plus the h. 2 omega males, 1 beta and 3 alphas. I really loved this story and the fact that Briar was entering a fully formed pack and already pregnant because it was different.
A great standalone Omegaverse this one. I loved it. It was sweet and lovingly. Perfectly fitting my mood, too. For I have read a bunch of more dark romance themes before, and was waiting for new RH Omegaverse books to release.
So, this book came just in time. The premise of the story hooked me up instantly. Briar was a great character. I often have problems with the female leads of books. Which leads with me not entirely liking them. I typically more a fan of the males. So, Briar didn't have the features I don't like. Like acting dumb, unnecessarily actions or hurting feelings or denying constantly. Sure, in the first half, she always reminds herself that the pack isn't hers. But still, she didn't deny herself their company or anything stupid. She may have trauma, but she is strong too. And, I like, that no one blames the baby.
The guys were amazing too. I actually could connect with all of them. The pack was unusual, though I don't want to reveal much about that. But it was a first. And it works well. I'm a huge fan of uniqueness.
There was character building. With all the spectrums of struggles, background stories and emotions too. I love the positivity in there. Her brother Liam was a great example of how family should be.
And there was smut. Not overly so. But well-written and sprinkled in at the right moments. And it is satisfying when the villains got what they deserved. I wished it would have been written out more. And the epilogue could have been little more longer. I don't like it, when a good book ends.
But hopefully there will be more of that in the future.
