"Nothing is ever as it seems or as bad as it first looks."


Cat Callum, after leaving home 31 years and 2 failed marriages ago, returns to Montana in hopes of finding peace again.She finds a lot has changed and  from the beginning she's struggling more within herself to see that she needs to move on as well. Can she forgive herself and seek the courage to choose what's right now and in the future or spend the rest of her life in hiding?


What has happened in the time she has been gone isn't entirely unknown to her, however how it has played out is.Why is David Miller still around? What in the world has Zac done to the ranch? Did he have to do so much without consulting her? Will she stop long enough to get out of her own way?


The history of the five ranches are historically linked in  what seems to be chaos. Cat,Zac,David,Wallace, and the next generation need to work together, albeit cautiously to make the history stay that, history. But will it happen?


Amy Rafferty has done it again! She grabs us by the hand and brings us through what is perceived solid rock into a world of mystery that I cannot wait to explore! Highly recommended 5/5

Cat returns to Cupid's Bow Ranch to heal from her 2 divorces, and some false accusations that could end her singing career. Upon her, return she finds her family ranch has been converted to an inn, and the 4 surounding ranches in serious financial difficulty as a result of a century old feud between the ranches that the current generations are trying to band together together and resolve. Cat is determined to unravel the mystery and save the ranches but who cab she trust, particularly the handsome ranch foreman who has secrets of his own. This is the beginning of a wonderful saga about family feuds, romance, secrets and adventure which Amy Rafferty weaves together in her magical way.

As the story continues, Cat has returned home following divorces and bad publicity with angry fans from her ex husband. Soon after her return, her brother Zac is seriously injured. Cat moves into Zac’s house to help take care of him. She is unhappy with changes in the ranch, especially after she learns her childhood home is now an inn. Out exploring on horseback, Cat learns she has been targeted by a mystery person when she and David, the ranch manager come under gunfire. The families in the area still face devastating loss of livestock, and there still seem to feuds between the neighboring families. Cat wants to unravel the mysteries but is worried about who can be trusted.

There are more secrets to uncover in this book. Cat Callum has returned home after thirty-one years to find a lot of changes at the ranch. As she settles in she is faced with memories from her past that she must overcome so she can move on. This story has many moving parts but Amy Rafferty is a master at weaving them all together into a suspense filled thrill ride that had me invested in all the families and how things are going to turn out. It is story filled with family love, feuds, forgiveness and horses. I would highly recommend it. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

the beginning of it all

Following on from the prequel introducing the various ranches and their people, we enter into book one with the Cupids Bow Ranch and Sparrow family.
There is a lot going on here and things are not always as they seems. Cat has come to get out of the spotlight and to visit her brother, only to find after 30 years away so much has changed. Plus, there is things afoot and the question is who can be trusted, who is truthful and honest, what actually is the problem, where is it coming from and who is involved.
Lots to do, lots to think about and much to uncover, but not always for the best. There are many questions and many answers as yet unspoken.

Cat is home in Montana to lay low after a scandal. Her brother Zac is attacked and Cat learns all that has been going on at her beloved ranch. This is the first book in Amy Rafferty's new series. Like all her books she draws the reader in from the first page. All through the book the tension grows as Cat tries to find out who is targeting her ranch. Zac's friend David offers his help. Great beginning, can't wait for the next book in this exciting series.

Cat was unhappy with all the changes Zac had made on the ranch. She didn't want it to change. David did what he could to show her how much the ranch had improved. All of the ranches were having problems, and no one knew how to make things better. This story, of course, has some nice attraction going on for some of the people involved. There is mystery, heartache, and sadness. I really enjoyed this story, and I am looking for to the next book! (I received a review copy from the author. This review is strictly my own.)

Where is the treasure.

A very interesting story that certainly keeps your interest as there is a complicated mystery surrounding the ranches in the area. Hopefully the mystery will soon be solved.

Choice Bow

Interesting and confusing. The writing is not clear and tells a muddied story that is hard to follow. The characters are not particularly likable, but the horses are.

Cupids Bow Ranch is where Cat and Zac grew up. Cat left to pursue a singing career after her father died. When she returns later in life, she finds the ranch renovated into an inn by her brother. She also reunites with her brother Zac's good friend David who now manages the ranch and she hasn't seen since her father's funeral. While exploring the ranch, David and Cat are shot at by someone. This is the beginning of many questions about the history of the ranch and an old feud among several of the surrounding ranches. Amy Rafferty's new series is fast paced and entertaining. She develops her characters so you feel like you know them. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
