Jamey Moody unapologetically writes romance books and I look forward to them. This time she has woven a tale of faith and romance - handling what is considered a controversial topic with deft, clear but soft writing.
Rebekah and Megan meet again after 12 years and much has occurred during that time. Rebekah (now a widow) has returned home with her daughter Anna who is not coping well with her dad's death. A preacher's daughter, Rebekah's faith is important to her as is her belief that a second chance with Megan should not be relinquished - the two can exist as one. Megan is an accomplished counsellor using art therapy and Anna becomes a participant in one of her after school programs. Once that reconnection takes place and a slow acknowledgement of buried feelings is released and accepted, the storyline expands beautifully. The road is not smooth. There are differences within the church - conflict of church and choice, all very much part of life today. Belief in the community of church, faith, acceptance of God's love and the strength of familial love and a strong loving partnership are the threads interlacing this second chance, age-gap romance. The author is up to the task with the end result of wonderful love story strengthened by faith. Well done, Jamey!!

Very highly recommend and on my re-read shelf.

This is actually only the second romance novel I have read that also contains the topic of faith and religion. In case anyone is wondering now, the first was Falling for Faith by Erica Lee and is a wonderful book too.

Knowing and loving Jamey Moody‘s writing I was very excited to read this story. One of the things I know when I start a book by her is that my heart will be filled with lots of love. Circumstances wanted it that I was in need for exactly this love and I got so much of it. I don’t think I’m able to express how much exactly this means to me.

Once more we get to meet two wonderful women, who stand in life with both their feet. Rebekah might be 12 years younger than Megan, but her soul isn’t. They were actually already together 12 years before but the time wasn’t right for them then. Rebekah being the daughter of a preacher didn’t make it easier for them. Even if she never questioned their relationship with Megan, but she definitely questioned hers with god.

When Rebakah had to leave again or rather wasn’t able to find Megan again, both started to live their life without each other. For Rebekah it meant getting pregnant, marrying, giving birth to Anna and then living together as a family for many years. Life was good for them until the day her husband dies. It leaves her and Anna in a bad place and moving back home seems to be the best solution. When she and Megan meet again it’s like they never parted their ways. Both haven’t forgotten the other and their love is still there.

The time they spend together from there, be it together with Anna and Megan’s dog Wanda or just the two of them was just so beautiful. I enjoyed every page and smiled so often. Of course it’s not all happy times, because the fact has not changed that Rebekah’s father is a preacher and they don’t know at first how he will react. Believes will be questioned and challenged.

I loved how the belief of each character was important to the story and all the different views we get to witness. If everyone would live out their personal belief like these characters did, this world would be a much better place. Their understanding for each other was incredible. I loved this just as much as how they made each other believe in themselves. These characters are definitely the ones I would like to have in my life and their relationship to God is exactly the one we should have.

I always love when a book makes me think and when I get a new perspective about a topic. And that’s exactly what happened here which made me so happy. For me there is no other author who is able to describe compassion, trust, understanding and love in such a wonderful way like Jamey Moody does. When it comes to this she is my favourite author who I will always recommend to others. I have witnessed her grow from book one and I’m in awe how far she has come.

When I finished this book I had tears in my eyes because it was so beautiful and the epilogue was just perfect. This story gave me hope and faith and became one of my favourite books by Jamey. I also believe that it couldn’t be released at a better time. 🥰

I highly recommend it to anyone who is in need for a book with no extra drama or angst and most of all lots of love. ❤️

I received an advance reader copy from the author and voluntarily leaving a review.

This story touched me deeply. Megan and Rebekah fell in love 12yrs ago and are now reunited. They choose to believe it is a higher power that have brought them back together. The story gives me hope that things in the church community will change one day and accept us for ourselves. As always the book is written beautifully and deals with love and family issues in kind. Rebekah's daughter Anna and Megan's dog Wanda are just the cutest characters. All I can say that this is a must read book that I thoroughly loved.

I received an advance copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

True love!

A heartwarming and inspiring story about a preacher's daughter, a counselor/art teacher, an adorable daughter and a cute puppy. A true love story about a second chance, hope, faith, discovering who you really are, facing obstacles and building a family. Who I Believe is well written, sensitive and not preachy. The characters felt very real and they will touch your heart. I highly recommend it.

◦ Who I Believe
◦ Jamey Moody
◦ MC Rebekah Mathews & Megan Neal

I do not want to give away much of the story. I will be discussing mostly my feelings about this book. Once again, Jamey Moody has touched my heart. This is a beautiful story about courage, faith, loss, love and being true to yourself.

If it’s meant to be it will come around again, fits this book.

The story touched me because I grew up in the church. I was going to be ordained as a minister, but I walked away from the church, so I could be my true self. I understand feeling conflicted in your heart and the church’s view on sexuality. But, I know for a fact that God is love.

The book is a complex story about loving god, but feeling conflicted because the church can make you feel unwanted and out of place because of your life choices. Moody did a fantastic job showing how two people can build their own family and find peace, love and happiness. The main characters evolved and kept their faith in god while finding their true selves.

This really resonated with me:

“Who do you believe? Do you believe the preachers out there that don’t want to marry us? Do you believe that part of society that says we’re evil? Or do you believe Rebekah when she tells you she loves you?”

“Megan scoffed then nodded. “I believe Rebekah. I believed her back then when she was struggling with her sexuality and what she’d been taught. I believe her now because I can see it in her eyes and feel it in my heart.”

Jamey Moody has written two of my favorite books this year. Each one is better than the last. If you want to read a book that will stir emotions in you, read this book. I would give it six stars if I could.

I highly recommend this book. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I would like to thank the author for the advance copy of the book!

Rebekah firmly believes in the love of God. When she was 19, she fell in love with Megan. Megan is several years older and tried to help Rebekah work through her issues. Life happens and they lose touch. 12 yrs later Rebekah moves back to her home town after her husband dies. With her is her sweet daughter Anna. Megan gets connected back to Rebekah through Anna. What unfolds is a beautiful love story. Written as only Jamey could. This story really hit home with me, as I was raised in the Methodist church also. I could just feel the love and trust between Rebekah and Megan. Also Anna. I don't think Megan could love Anna anymore if she had been with her since birth. I really don't want to give too much away. But I know this is a book I will read over and over again. Especially when I need uplifting. Thank you Jamey for writing this book. I did receive an ARC, but these are my thoughts.

Rebekah Mathews has returned home to try to get her and her daughter's life back on track after the death of her husband. Her daughter, Anna, is struggling to cope after losing her dad. Rebekah signs her up for art therapy completely unaware that it will bring her face to face with a woman from her past, who still has ownership of her heart.

Megan Neal was 31 when she met and fell for 19-year-old Rebekah.  They only had one summer together but Megan always wondered what happened to the preacher's daughter she loved more anyone before or after. When the two women see each other again, those old feelings come back to the surface. Rebekah must decide if she is going to take a second chance on love or live in fear of her family's reaction.

I'm not a religious person. It's just not my jam. I can, however, appreciate those who have faith and the fear that goes along with wanting to live your truth but also wanting to maintain one's relationship with God and family who may take issue. So, it was easy to see how Rebekah's youthful fears brought about an end to her summer relationship with Megan. What I appreciated is that both women realized how special their connection, even after twelve years apart and how rare it is to get a second chance at love. And that a love like that is worth it because it only comes along once.

Jamey Moody always writes relatable characters that you want the best for. I'm a sucker for a second chance love story and throw in an age gap and I'm all in. Rebekah's daughter Anna is adorable and her bond with Megan and her adorable dog was lovely to see and helped her so much in being able to smile again after losing her father.

My only issue was that I wished that the two women would have courted each other a little more but that's just me nitpicking because I know Jamey well and I know that she felt the two wasted enough time. And when you know who you are meant to be with, you don't need fancy dinners out to confirm what you already know. This is a feel good second chance story about love, the love between two women, between a mother and daughter, and the love that comes from believing in a higher power. I think it's Jamey's finest work to date and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

An ARC was received from the author for an honest review.

There is a lot of talk of god and faith in this story line. Some people might not be so into this story line. I struggle with this. Faith (Christianity) is addressed in how does homosexuality fit in and it is a very valid topic, if at times painful. Jamey Moody writes about 2 characters and the strain of being a pastor's daughter impacts one's true self. The kid is ridiculously adorable. The concept of an art therapy counseling center is amazingly insightful. As someone working in education, I wish we had easy access to programs like these to recommend children.

As usual, my mind melted right into the scenes and characters that Jamey Moody creates. She writes with such low-key angst - addressing real topics in a not so stressful manner.

In my opinion Ms Moody is one of the best Lesfic writers around. All of her books, and this is no exception, are well written, with minimal aghast and always a happy ending.
This book starts with a happy ever after and progresses to examine the roll of the church within the gay community. I found it quite informative concerning American churches views on queer people as I am from the UK. Rebekah is a preachers daughter, who fell in love with a woman 12 years ago. She did not have the courage to come out then, but when she meets this woman again, Megan; she is widowed with a young daughter and finds the courage to embrace her sexuality. I loved this story as its not just about love and romance, but a fight to be heard and understood within the church community. Would highly recommend.

I found this beautiful book on my TBR shelves. As an ex-catholic because of the churches stand on homosexuality , I found this incredibly interesting. Only the religion is Methodist, but at least some of it is changing. So, religion is the under tone but love is the main story!. Twelve years ago Rebekah went back to college thinking she'd never see Megan again.
Twelve years later, Rebekah is a widow with an 8 yr old daughter Anna who's having trouble with her father's accidental death. So, Rebekah goes home. She enters Anna in a counseling center. When she brings her in, who is the counselor but Megan!
This is a beautiful age gap, second chance love story! I love this book! 5 stars!

Faith and love can live in our lives acceptance will not always bring those beliefs together.

Meghan and Rebekah met one summer when both were looking for that innermost strength to see who they are becoming. Their deep connection included a faith that church had not yet stilled. They found love and so much more. Rebekah went back to school and they lost each other. The love never faded and the conviction that is was true never left their hearts.
12 years later, a death and a daughter later Rebekah is back home and Meghan is the art teacher who will help Anna through loosing her father and Rebekah through claiming herself again.
The issues discussed in this book are so beautifully held with grace, love and deep faith. A love so deep that it can withstand the hate and indifference of people who can't see past the "sin" to hear with the heart of faith. The characters have the ability to be vulnerable and stand firm in the life they fill called to live. Jamey Moody does not shy away from the harsh conversations and the very real negative responses but love is always on the table. I don't know how she brings so much emotion to the book but my heart hurt and eyes cried often for what they have gone through. I loved the inner strength to put themselves out there in the community, offering up their hearts knowing they may not be accepted. This story is so much the stories of today. I found hope, love and faith renewed. Priceless.

After re-reading this book, I discover more of the theme. But love is allways there. Wonderful.

Amazing Second Chance Romance!

Jamey Moody continues to impress me with her storytelling but this book felt more personal. The gay community and its struggles with the church and with God. Not one that is going to be solved soon especially with politics involved. However the truth in this book is just that, Love is Love and God is Love. All we need to do is look North and speak to God. As for this wonderful, sweet, sensitive story, it is a winner. A definite must read from someone who can write romance well. Love Rebekah and Megan. To find each other again after twelve years apart, is a second chance meant to be. Then bring in Anna, Rebekah’s young daughter. I love kids in stories but this one caught my heart and squeezed. She was the catalyst of love being entwined with Rebekah and Megan. Followed by a super powered love of a puppy and you have the makings of a truly heartwarming story. This book covered a lot of tropes but the most was the true love I could feel from the characters including the parents. So much support and love makes this not only a great book to read but a positive path towards a better future.

love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love

Beautifully written journey of Megan and Rebekah finding each other again after twelve years of a different path that had separated them. When they reconnected it was a brilliant event. The secondary characters were equally important and completed the narrative that love is love is love. I especially loved Anna, their daughter who we met when she was eight going on thirty-eight!!! A very good read. I enthusiastically, heartily, and unequivocally recommend this and all of Jamey Moody’s works. They are guilty of live and hope. Just what we need right now! Thank you Peace

This was a beautifully written story about two women who were in love, separated for twelve years, reunited, only to realize they had always loved each other. Loving each other was never the issue. Rebekah’s father is the pastor of his church and works with her and her love, Megan in efforts to raise the awareness of the church members in hopes of making it legal for gays to marry in the church. One thing that touched me was how the lovers viewed their intimacy as a reflection of God’s gift of loving Him and each other. This is a book that should be read by everyone, especially those who are straight.

Another dish of comfort food, served to us by Jamey Moody. As is her habit, Jamey tells a story of 2 lovely MCs who love each other and want to be together, and their trust and faith in each other are what make all the difference. The support of their families is important to them and the whole book just radiates warmth, acceptance, and love of one’s family and hometown.
The main hurdle in the MC’s path to happiness is usually some kind of conflict. In this book, there’s no conflict. There’s a young daughter, accepting parents, and even a church that accepts the new couple. So what’s stopping them from being happy?
Well, as a secular person I must admit that I found it hard to relate to this conflict but I understood it mentally. The thing is, the MC’s dad preaches in a local church and she’s always been extremely aware of his leading position in the community. Her coming out and her desire to get married in her dad’s church pose a problem as her dad’s church does not accept same-sex marriage.
The MCs take an opportunity to try and change the situation and the minds of the people around them. They strive for change but also accept their limited impact on the community. It’s heart-warming to see them learn to work for change, accept that which they can’t change, and understand when to move on. Watching them make a new path for themselves and their families will melt your heart. The future is full of hope (justifiedly so, as the epilogue proves) but the path to that future is paved with lots of faith (in God and in people), acceptance, and the love of a family.

As I said, I found it hard to relate to the religious conflict and that's why it's 4 stars instead of 5.
Disclaimer: I received this book as ARC without expectations for review or otherwise.

A second chance romance for Rebekah and Megan. They shared an intense summer relationship (no flashbacks) while Rebekah questioned her identity and faith and where she fits. There was a 12 year age gap too that was an obstacle for it being more serious. Rebekah left to finish college in Florida where she marries and has a daughter. She returns home to Athens, GA as a young widow with an 8 year old daughter Anna. Megan runs a counselor and runs and art therapy program that where Anna starts attending. For Rebekah and Megan it is as of the years separation didn’t happen. Rebekah is the daughter of a local Methodist preacher and her relationship with God is important. I thought this would fall into southern preacher stereotypes and kudos to the author for taking a different approach. The story becomes two pronged. The rekindled romance and becoming a new family. And the second story of an upcoming vote to accept or decline Gays fully into the church and ministry. Rebekah would like to be married by her father in the church of her faith. The couple uses their relationship to try and help with the vote. There is much discussion of God and purpose and plans. And I like that the couple aren’t in totally agreement but can support each other. I thought this was loving, sweet, and thoughtful. (4.5 stars)

Way too much religion for my taste, and I didn't click at all with the characters, their love story felt so rushed, like definitely instant u-hauling. That might please other readers though.

Rebekah has grown up in the church as a preacher's daughter, and at the age of nineteen she finds herself in love with a slightly older Megan. She firmly believes in God but is at odds with the church's stance on gay people. She leaves town for college, but the story really begins when she returns home with her eight year old daughter Anna twelve years later after her husband Ben passes away. Young Anna is not coping well with his death so she takes her to an art therapist where she very surprisingly reconnects with Megan after all these years. What an amazing second chance for each of them!

Although this book tackles a very serious subject, daughter Anna and the little puppy Wanda added so much spirit, fun and cuteness to the entire story. They made me laugh and filled me with joy!

Jamey writes so tenderly and passionately about the values we hold so dear to just "love one another.". This book gives the reader so much hope and faith for the future. It stirs in me a desire to be more respectful and accepting of all of our unique talents and not view them as differences. Inclusivity brings us together. I have yet to read another author who fills my heart and soul the way Jamey Moody does. I LOVE her writing. It's brilliant and compassionate - building a family full of faith, hope and love - just what we all need in the world today!

I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to “get into” a book about religion, but Jamey has a way of creating characters that you get attached to and you want to follow their stories wherever they lead. BUT this book has such a strong main character that’s so admirable that you’ll wish you could take even a little bit of Rebekah’s faith for yourself. In, Who I Believe, when tragedy brings Rebekah Matthew home she never expects she’d be given a second chance for everything she’s wanted… aka Megan. You find yourself rooting for her, but she’s so badass and determined that she doesn’t even need cheering. She’s grown in the past 12 years and knows what she wants, and knows what she would give up for it if she had to. This story takes you on a journey where faith, God, family, and love are very important but aren’t all on the same page for a happy ending. Rebekah’s daughter, Anna, and two amazing fur friends named Wanda and Neal help heal and bring the family together through the challenges they face. This story makes you think… if you have everything you want, love, and believe… does it really matter what someone else believes?

Jamey Moody writes her stories from the heart and it's my heart she always touches with her books. This book was no different. This book is an incredible story of second chances, finding love again and believing in that love. In the beginning, religion played a minor part but as I read this book, I realized that it had a major role in the story! I enjoyed that journey. Love is love, right? This story affirms my faith and especially the faith I have in my love for my wife. Please read this book if you believe in the faith of your love.

As usual Jamey delivers an awesome read. This book is laden with love, joy and more love. In this read, it's more about His loving all humans. I love the content of the whole story, other than entertaining it is also encouraging and inspiring. After all who you believe makes the difference. Thank you Jamey, I really enjoyed this book.

I was luckily enough to receive an ARC.
I love this book, it was based around a tough subject.
For most gays being religious don’t always go together.
This showed that they can if people open their eyes and look at the people and not just the out dated rules.
The characters were brilliantly written and I was cheering them on from the start.

What do you believe?

Religious organizations are struggling. For some reason they can't grasp the comments in their religious books that love your neighbor as yourself applies to all people. If you don't believe or more than likely you don't understand what that person beside you is doing unless you turn and politely ask! Enjoy! Fantastic work on the author.

The church is not a favourite subject for me and I find it very controversial however, this book gives a very favourable side to it. The story of loss, and of a coming together again and the wonders of a child make this a truly heart warming read. Not to be missed!
