Misaki Ayuzawa is the President of the Student Council at Seika High School, formerly an all-boys school. Unfortunately, most of the students are still male and stuck in their slovenly habits, so man-hating Misaki really socks it to them in an attempt to make the school presentable to attract more female students. But what will she do when the sexiest boy in school finds out that after school, Misaki works in a maid cafe.

Hiro Fujiwara (藤原ヒロ in Japanese) is a Japanese manga artist.
The manga artist was once active under her previous pen name, Izumi Hiro (和泉 ヒロ) at the end of the 1990's but has abandoned the name after she won the Best Rookie award in the LMS for Kaeri Michi, Yuki no Netsu.
Her first series, which is also her latest ongoing work, Kaichō wa Maid-sama! (会長はメイド様!, translation Maid Sama!) is currently serializing in Hakusensha's monthly shōjo manga magazine, LaLa. This series is licensed by Tokyopop for North America, and an anime adaptation was broadcast during Spring 2010.
Misaki and Usui are already growing on me. Their banter is pretty funny, and I like how the author is maintaining a strongly feminist narrative through Misaki’s actions as school president. She’s a girl’s girl, and I love that! Even Usui is catching on to her actions and growing better from it (like when he fought to win the race so he could spare Sakura from kissing that other dude). I’m surprised at how empowering this manga is towards young girls; it’s refreshing to know a protagonist like Misaki was out there in shoujo for so many years!
I love this series so much, I can't wait to read more and catch up to the part of where I was in the anime. Since I finished the anime already, I know what happens for most of the parts in this manga. Even though I already know what is going to happen, I still love it because it's kinda like re-watching the anime. And for the past few days, I always wanted to re-watch this anime but it takes up too much time and I am currently watching Naruto Shippuden.
It's fine, I'll come to save you as much as you want. I'll make you fall for me as much as you wish. Leave this to your master.
If you haven't heard about this manga, it is about a girl named Misaki Ayuzawa who is the school president. After her father left the family, he left a huge debt. Misaki's mom is trying to pay off the debt because he is gone and Misaki doesn't like seeing her mom work too much. So she decides to work as a maid in a restaurant. She wanted this to be kept a secret but a boy at her school named Takumi Usui found out. Usui and Ayzuzawa go through so many things in the first volume and this takes place after that.
Usui, you perverted, outer spaceman human being!
This was so funny, it continued to amaze me and make me laugh so much. I loved the way Ayuzawa would yell at Usui and the way he would respond. The way these two go together is so perfect. Both of them are strong and have each other's backs. Usui will always be there to help the president when she falls, (literally).
Usui and Ayuzawa's bond is awesome and it is unbreakable. They are the people that you want on your side and the people you want to be friends with. Sometimes, I wish I can grab both of them out of this book and ask them to be friends. I mean, who wouldn't wanna be friends with a girl who loves pink, wears breads and glasses. :) (Just kidding)
I always wonder what goes on in Usui's head because he is so crazy. It's hilarious, but all I am thinking about is what would make him do these weird things.
The pace of this book was awesome, I couldn't stop reading, I had a hard time putting it down. The plot was solid and made sense, but sometimes, I felt that the book was hard to relate to. But I still liked the concept and idea of this book.
I highly recommend this book if you watched the anime and want more. I also recommend this series to those who haven't started it yet. And for those who haven't read any manga yet, this is perfect for you! If anyone wants to know the app I use to read manga, it is called Manga Bird, and it has a cute blue bird.
Today I am in shoujo mood, so yeah, Maid sama! #2 I like Misaki a lot. She is both funny and clever. Even though there are many exaggerations and cliches , the story is interesting to read and hilarious too. The main issue is with Usui, which I haven't decided if I love or hate. That guy is crazy! Though he has a good personality overall, he is a stalker and annoying. My major turn off... Still, it is quite good manga and I'll continue on other volumes too.
Augh it's that line! Dear shoujo writers, whenever the hero reminds the heroine that she's 'still a girl' before running off to save the day I do not swoon at the romance of it all. I want to kick him for being a patronizing sexist ass. >( That goes double when he combines it with a sexually threatening posture (because remember, you're still a ~girl~ and that means vulnerable, are you still aware of that?)
Books like these make me appreciate Revolutionary Girl Utena all the more. Oh sweet Utena where a girl could be a prince without her 'love interest' reminding her of her place. Where flirting with ladies translated to actually dating one. I never knew how good we had it till you were gone. 3 stars
Igualmente, bastante recomendable.
Once again, another wonderful installment in the series. 2006?! Our leading lady is still kicking boys’ asses, showing what it means to be hard working, and constantly setting an example for other students. I love it.
I just wish you would realize he isn’t teasing, Misaki!!!!! He loves you!! I SEE IT! HE DOES! WAKE UP!! Anyway. I will probably binge this series right through to the end spending way too much money. OH WELL! :D

WE pick up right where vol 1 left off. Misaki is all confused by Usui. He told her he liked her before jumping off the roof of the school building to grab the photo of her in her maid costume before any of the students saw it. He has always been there to protect her but she isn't sure if it's just his playboy ways to mess with her or not. Not to mention the president from a neighboring school filled with privileged rich kids has offered Misaki a once in a million opportunity to switch school and get a full ride scholarship all expenses paid. It's a great opportunity but if she takes it she will have to leave all the girls of her school whom she's been protecting from all of the out of control guys.
I feel so bad for Usui. He tells her how much he likes her, does chivalrous things for her and then decides to take it all back when he notices how much it upsets her. His declaration of "like" has thrown Misaki off her rocker and she is acting really weird around him and spacing out a lot. So he shows her that their kiss meant nothing by kissing someone else. Which, seems to do the job and has Misaki going back to thinking he's just a playboy messing with her. However, when he pushes her too far she tells him that he has to stop playing head games with her. That seems to be when he realizes that there could be something between then but his previous playboy ways have seemed to hinder him a bit with Misaki taking him seriously.
Favorite part... A couple of the kids from Misaki's class get into a fight from one of the kids from the rich school Miyabi Gaoka. When Misaki, Usui and the two classmates go to the school to apologize, the student challenges them to a game of chess to determine who should apologize. Usui plays against the kid and wins and his request is... "I'd like you to compliment our President by calling her a splendid butterfly."
Somehow, I don't see Misaki as a "splendid butterfly."
We currently left volume one with Usui confessing to Misaki. In the second installment a flustered Misaki can't keep her head on straight, unsure of what Usui's got up his sleeve, so sure that he's messing with her. Her presidential work piles up, she isn't able to study, she can't concentrate on anything including the cafe. A series of events happens possible romance, school festival, Misa ... the boy!? and is the president switching schools!?
Volume 2 of Maid Sama! stays true to the initial portrayal of the characters in the first volume, little character development is made which normal for this type of story, after all it is only the second volume. Besides the recent list of characters, we have a new face added to the story I'll just say he's the president of another school and keep it at that.
I enjoyed the fact that Misaki enjoyed being a boy more than a girl, which didn't impress Usui. The side stories are very fun and light hearted which make the read enjoyable and slow paced. They are a few serious moments and knight on a white horse moments, but all in all this volume can't compare to the first, although the art work is as beautiful as always. I liked it but that's it, it's a good story but not 5 star good, that's why I'm giving it 3 stars.
March 2014: 4 Stars Once again, a really enjoyable volume. I love how even when she's technically a damsel in distress, Misaki never gives up or admits defeat. And I like that Usui respects that about her. Sure, he likes to push her buttons and poke fun at how sensitive she is to proximity, but he acknowledges both her physical and psychological strength. Also, I really liked the chapter where Misaki found her niche in the cross dressing themed day and Usui got up in her grill. A crude way of putting it, but the chapter was so like Misaki, was so perfectly Usui that I can't ignore its existence. Gawd I love these two. On to volume 3!
I read this to prevent a reading slump, and I think it worked. I wanted something fast and fun.I'm taking a break from manga because I have too many unread books on my shelves. I'll most likely continue this series in the near future though.
This is the anime that got me into shoujo in the first place so I guess I will be a bit biased and every volume will probably have 5 stars ( gomenasai uwu, it's still my favourite shoujo after all T_T) ...
