I'd say most if not all of the personal finance/investing books that I've ever read have skewed fairly conservative. Which makes sense, no author wants angry readers sending letters complaining about massive financial losses after following their advice. I think that's why this was such a refreshing change of pace; this book basically says, "Fine, you wanna go crazy? Here's a portfolio with some hair on its chest!"

"A Beginner's Guide" feels like a misnomer here, and really this should only be read by people with a baseline understanding of and experience with at least the basics of investing. Over time while conducting your own research you'll naturally come across some of the concepts in this book like IPOs, SPACs, leveraged ETFs, microcaps, covered calls, LEAPs, and a bunch of other stuff. If you've never heard of any of these terms, you're too short for this ride and you should come back in a few years. But if you're like me and have come across these assets but never really had a firm grasp of them, this book actually dives into these topics and how to approach them rather than the "ask your father" approach other finance books have given me.

I likely won't engage with any of the investing vehicles described in this book, but I feel I have a better understanding of them now, and feel like I've sampled a buffet of options. In the future if I decide to come back to it, I know which dishes I already want to revisit and which ones I'm definitely not interested in, and to me, there's value in that.

It introduces you to many trading terms and methods. I like that. It’s a very shallow introduction. Don’t expect to read this and understand how to trade afterwards. Worth the read if you can catch it on Libby or at the library but probably not something I’d spend money on. I listened to it free with Spotify premium.

Interesting book which explores multiple high risk investment instruments. All very easily digestible, though the information can be too elementary for people who want to come up with better understanding in the subject. Only useful if you’re willing to explore new ways to short term trade (mostly except for LEAPs options)

Very entertaining, though some small bits went over my head a little and took several reads to understand. This was a good starting place to understand some of the investing terms.

1. a very, very high level introduction to some crazy-ass ways to invest
2. my opinion is if any beginner tried any of these ideas they would lose 100% of their money
