Absorbing series!

I always fall hard for a series that shows how conflicted, imperfect characters can wrestle with evolving situations and succeed despite the odds. It never hurts if it's set someplace I know personally. I'm looking forward to the next book! Try it.

Utopia Project : The Frayed Threads of hope : By Billy Dering

My Rating : 4.8/5

Utopia Project : The Frayed Threads of hope is the second book in the Utopia project series. These books are amazing dystopian novels with elements of thrill and science fiction. I absolutely loved the first book and devoured it, so I had high expectations from the sequel and it didn't disappoint me. I don't remember finishing any book as fast as I finished reading this one.

It is rare for me to like the sequel more than the first book, but this book did it for me, it is just brilliant, it is brilliantly written, has a brilliant story and it will keep you hooked and you will be thoroughly engaged, waiting to know what happens next. I love that the plot has many layers to it and it has twists and turns that leave your mouth wide open.

The characters too, are brilliantly written and the character arcs are amazing. The book is interesting and intriguing, right from the cover to the last page. The author has really done a great job with this series and I am so glad that this book not only lived up to my expectations but even surpassed them.

This book is a splendid cocktail of drama, action, suspense, thrill and sci- fi elements. The writing style is so descriptive that this book pulls you in and you can visualize the story like it's happening before your eyes. I can't wait to read the next installment in this amazing series. If you are a fan of sci - fi or dystopian novels, you shouldn't miss out on this amazing series - Utopia Project.

A Page Turner with Reservations

I cannot help comparing this novel, and its predecessor in the series, with one I am reading at the same time, The Saints of Swallow Hill. The stories are entirely different. This one is post-apocalyptic and the other is historical fiction. What they have in common is that both are page turners that don’t want to be put down. The difference is in the writing. Every word in The Saints of Swallow Hill carries forward the story while enriching your appreciation of the characters and their situations. In Utopia Project, the writing, especially in interpersonal exchanges, romantic and otherwise, although intended to be humorous, is frequently goofy and embarrassing. A page turner notwithstanding.

Utopia Project: The Frayed Threads of hope is a book that captivated me just by looking at the cover; no doubt that volume one was so good that I ended up reading this one.

The story is completely thrilling and has a pace that demands the reader to keep on reading page after page. No doubt, the author has a great storytelling skill that captured my attention completely. During created a fascinating story with believable characters which have good dialogue and moreover, the description of the scenes is very well created.

I would undoubtedly recommend reading Utopia Project: The Frayed Threads of Hope.

A great dystopian novel

This is the second book in the series written by Billy Dering; Utopia Project: The Frayed Threads of Hope is a long read but once which has a good pace to keep readers entertained and don’t feel the book heavy. If you haven’t read book 1, I recommend you read it so as not to miss anything in this volume.

The author’s way of creating the character and giving them a voice is very good… in some parts, it was easy to hear them speak. The narrative is real and the descriptions too.

This dystopian novel got me reading for hours. It is a must read. I really recommend it to fans of this genre. The author has done a very good job!

'Billy Dering’s ideology is something to be admired. I must commend him for creating another fascinating series with more plot layers than an onion. And these layers were interconnected across the series, making the book more intriguing. Also, he ensured an excellent balance between the past and the current events throughout the narrative. The suspense tool was well managed.'

A definite page turner with short chapters and suspense around every corner. This book adds some depth to the story that the first book starts telling. The first book in the series was told predominantly from the survivors side of the story while book two adds some more perspectives and continues character development.

-1 star for general unbelievability and the antagonists seeming a bit reckless in their approach after years of careful planning leading up to their mission.

Well written and suspenseful

The author really outdid himself in the second book. Whilst the first was the lead up, in The Frayed Threads of Hope he developed the characters and the situations. The psychology behind every movement, every battle and the emotions of the group as a whole made for a thrilling ride.

Good combination of action and personal interactions.

This is a good followup to the first book in the series. Being familiar with the Jersey shore adds a dimension to the story but is not necessary to enjoy the book. Looking forward to the final chapter of the series.

Complex characters with darkness within. Betrayal. Plot twists. Flawed philosophy. This story has it all. Unfortunately the content has as much to do with sex as it does with handling the evil Utopia Project. Still an amazing story.

Liked the story

Great story, but there does seem to be more repetition than is necessary. I almost stopped reading it, but was interested enough to want to find out how this ends. So, repetition or not, on to the third book!

Dystopian, fitting for today's society to give readers critical thought and a stark warning of what may come to be! I recommend reading, and anticipate the next novel in the trilogy.
