It's me. I'm the bitch. And thanks to my traitorous bestie Sarah's vampire cult having a funny definition of "virgin sacrifice," I'm back from the dead rather than back from a much-needed vacation in Cancun.
Now I'm possessed by their snarky deity, and my afterlife depends on keeping it a secret from her cult of four reincarnated vampire lovers. Budget Edward—I mean Cyrus—and his way more obnoxious twin, Cameron, are at the helm. Then there's Sam, the guy I thought was my friend, who apparently takes backstabbing way too literally. And because things just couldn't get any shittier, my soon-to-be ex-boyfriend Alex is involved. Ex-alive, that is.
They say revenge is a dish best served cold, which is perfect considering the frosty new powers at my disposal, but I think I took it a little too far. When my plan goes sideways and all I get is the attention of a hunter, the cult doesn't try to kill me a second time. I fall under their unwanted protection instead, and they claim I belong to them now—body and soul. And it turns out hate—and heat, which is a whole new experience for me, just like being with a guy is a whole new experience for them—spices things up.
Are enemies with benefits a thing?
Author's note: This is the first book in an MM Vampire Romance series that follows the same main character with multiple love interests. He won't have to choose between his men to get his HEA, and there is eventual male pregnancy in this series.
Oh my goodness. He's right. He's a train wreck happening and I can't resist watching. 😂😭
A vengeful, bitchy antihero with an equally morally gray harem. It's so addictive that I just can't stop reading. This has a good level of angst that didn't frustrate me too much but also kept me interested. (Actually, let me correct that. The angst is effing delicious!) It also didn't help that they kept the angst going from beginning to end. What a great feat, I must admit. The only paladin that I forgave so far is Sam but who can really blame Chase for hating them all?
Anyway, all his calculated vengeance and the funny poetic justice of ending up taking everything from his bestfriend after her betrayal was chef's kiss.
On to the next book so I can continue this unhealthy attachment to this train wreck. Ciao!
My eyes have been opened to the magical world of fantasy all male reverse harem mpreg books! This was an incredible start to a series and I am moving on to book 2 immediately as I cannot live with the cliffhanger!! All but book 5 (the last one) have been released so far so at least I don’t have to wait.
Chase is amazing as the main character. I loved seeing his personality change and grow as his life experiences expand (haha don’t want to spoil anything). I loved being in his head the most and there were quite a lot of laugh out loud moments mixed in with the pain and the feeling of wanting to just wrap Chase up in a blanket and keep him safe!
I wouldn’t say this is a bully romance per se but it 100% does not have low-angst happy RH vibes. There is trouble between the men and my dislike of the four males in the harem goes up and down. Cameron, Cyrus, Sam and Alex were not the characters I was expecting but I’m really enjoying seeing these characters be a mix of hateful, protective, lustful, and many more things towards Chase.
If you enjoy fantasy, vampires, lots of sexy time and a gullible MC learning how to stand up for themselves this is a series for you!!
I'm screaming!!!!! this book is wild!!!. Ok, honestly I just loved everything about this entire storyline. And don't get me started on the characters! Chase is my absolute favorite character of all time! I thought I loved me a strong female role, but let me tell you I wasn't prepared for the hilariously snarky, loveable as all h"ll, down right strong on so many levels twink! Chase character is pretty much everything! The guys! Ugh, its so hard to get over what they did, really it seriously is! And yet, I was like chase, back and forth with "ahh f**k it, and murderous rage!" I have zero idea where this entire read is heading, but its so damn good!. I'm so invested.
I consumed this. Honestly I couldn’t stop reading. Yet I’m conflicted.
I’m in love with Chase. He’s just…so good, so undeserving to the people around him. I thought I won’t like him in the beginning, but after the betrayal and everything he went through, I wanted to him protected, loved, also bathing in their blood because fuck them.
The harem…hmm I don’t know about them. I hate them to be honest. I’m hoping that he won’t end up with them truthfully, that in book 2 a new group will surface and swipe him off his feet and make him leave those toxic people.
Chase ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cyrus ⭐️⭐️ Sam ⭐️⭐️ Cameron ⭐️ Alex -100000⭐️🤬🤬 Sarah 🤬🤬
That sums it up. I’m rooting for the main character and hoping the rest burn and die.
Honestly toxic isn’t enough description for them. They just don’t care about him, truly deeply they don’t. It’s not enemies-to-lovers, it just feels like they don’t care about Chase beyond what he is able to do to them. Chase deserves so much better after what he suffered from people around him, from his dad, mom, Sarah, Sam, and let’s not forget Alex. Fuck u Alex.
The ending was disappointing because it leaves the impression that he won’t escape and make it on his own and find better people. Idk honestly I’m hoping I just don’t get disappointed but the P-bomb is making me wary
I was looking for a romance and that this is definitely not. But looking back all the "vessel" talk should probably have clued me in.
The first 5% were hard to get through because Chase puts up with so much shit from his supposed boyfriend and friends. Then he becomes totally kickass if traumatized after they try to sacrifice him only for him to revert back halfway through. And then shit really gets problematic and toxic. So overall, this was not for me though I really liked some parts and the funny situations and banter between the 5 and 40/50% marks. But I sadly don't see myself continuing with this series.
After being sacrificed by his boyfriend and best friends to the blood goddess their vampire cult worships, Chase does not expect to wake up possessed by said goddess. He also doesn’t expect Ichor to be so on board with his plans for revenge against his former friends, but homegirl has a bone to pick with her supplicants.
Everything is going to according to plan until Chase’s revenge gets interrupted by a supernatural hunter intent on murdering him. AGAIN. In an even more fucked up twist he is now forced to live with the very men who sacrificed him in order to stay alive, and learns that not only do they worship the goddess possessing him, they are a part of her harem. Things are about to get real heated (hehe) for Chase, in more ways than one.
Y’all, the cover of the book says MPREG… So, if that up there 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻intrigued you, just know… MPREG is coming and pearls should not be clutched because you were warned.
Also, I very much love the cover and it is absolutely why I bought the book. That being said, it took me a hot ass minute to like Chase. He’s a little whiny and a lot in denial, but once he finally grew a backbone and his feisty personality kicks in, I loved him. Despite being murderous assholes, I also liked most of the guys—except Alex, fuck him 🤣
Wow. This book is messed up on so many levels, it just really makes me wonder. I feel like I need bullet points for all the red flags. Let’s just say that much (thought not all!) of it can be summarized by this ‘delightful’ quote from Chase himself:
“Despite their insistence that I had a choice, I knew that would all go out the window the second I put up any actual resistance.”
This book sells itself as an MM novel, but even for MPREG, it’s only the very VERY thinnest, most transparent of veils for actually being MF. The MC, Chase, has every reason to absolutely 100% loath the other MCs who are meant to be his love interest. The other MCs -including Chase’s original boyfriend!!- have no sexual interest in Chase whatsoever, and some even actively dislike him. On both sides there is a complete lack of consent.
Then Chase becomes a vessel for their very female goddess. Chase still hates the other MCs but now the others are magically attracted to him. They still don’t like him or care about him in any way other than him being a female vessel. He is literally a “meatsuit” for a goddess they actually want. They make this very clear that they would happily rip their goddess out of him if they could and have no issue stepping over his dead body to do it - and this lovely sentiment is repeated both before AND after they have been intimate with him. At every available opportunity, they strip him of his freedom, rights, and free will while manipulating the hell out of him. They make clear they will rape him if he resists. They make clear that actually they would like to go farther into making him into a coma patient so he is a literal meatsuit instead of a figurative one. I just cannot emphasize enough how much this is not a sexy prisoner game book, but just a book about awful manipulative supernatural abusers.
Then we add in the MPREG aspects to really turn up the awfulness. In order to justify how people who all hate each other have sex, Chase-the-female-vessel has a “heat” that makes him “need” his abusers. The sex is not even hot because -big surprise- the abusive MCs are all about dominating him…. which, in a book about abusive partners, is just not sexy. Kudos that Chase goes back to hating them (mostly?) after his “heat” ends, but you get the feeling this is all going to get very Stockholm syndrome very soon. Then add in magical pregnancy, and you have specter of the miserable lie “a baby makes everything better” trope hanging over everything.
I read a ton of MM. I have read a lot of MOREG, a lot of BDSM, and even a lot of non-con. I don’t recommend this book. I will not be reading the next one.
Well!! There was nothing that could have prepared me for this one – my word, this was hot! The story was engaging, the characters all well defined and fascinating, and extremely well written.
I felt for Chase – he was so insecure and felt out of place, and the betrayal scene was quite heart wrenching to read. I really enjoyed the scenes between him and The Queen of Blood – she was exactly what he needed to build up his self-esteem and make him realise his inner strength. I also really loved the scenes when his need came upon him – my word, they were extremely hot!
The whole premise is very interesting and I cannot wait to see what happens next. The cliffhanger was a doozy and I cannot wait for book two, especially if it keeps up this level of intriguing and hot. An easy 5/5 from me and I’m currently looking into the author’s catalogue!
This isn't boy next door falling for the hometown girl. Enemies to lovers it's the one.
How would you feel? If the people you grew up with, suddenly turned on you? That's it!
All you want is revenge. Obstacles kept getting in your way. Waking up in the morgue. Taking a quick liquid snack. Getting through your pre-med college work load. Dealing with freshmen in the lab. The upcoming dance. All while plotting the downfall of your boyfriend, besties, and the two new guys.
How can you ever trust again? Even the new disembodied voice in your head is a bit blood thirsty.
I'm off to read more. Got to find out if "bestie" Sarah is true to her word, "Reversing the ritual?" Who is the Daddy? Will Ichor come back? Oh, and, "What is he?"
Ok, so this story got to me. I did not like the beginning at all, the horrible way these so called friends treated Chase made me not want to see any sort of poly situation amongst them. And of course there was the witch. I did not want a harem with that one involved. Not to mention the whole cliche horror setup. Really Chase? Changing into a white robe and going into the attic? Have you never seen a scary movie?
Then all of the sudden I could not stop reading. I literally inhaled the entire thing. I love Chase. His poor self esteem really needs some help. I mean, he keeps letting these guys hurt him.
And the guys. The twins, Sam, and the horrible ex boyfriend. I seriously don't think that they are good enough for the vessel.
Luckily, the cliffhanger was mentioned in the blurb so I was prepared for it. This installment was not a self contained romance, as there was no HFN nor HEA.
I don't even know where to start... This was recommended to me as a super sexy, fiery romantic, and exciting read. It is not. And because I wasted time of my life on it, hoping I'd turn a page and it would suddenly make sense and be good, I will now waste your time with my rant about it :)
A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.
THIS WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
Highly recommend to those who love vampires, shifters, witches, magic, mmm romance, enemies to lovers, mpreg, and of course excellent characters and writing.
I have been a fan of LC Davis for some time and this one is right up there.
The story is told from many different POVs which I normally wouldn't like but THIS totally worked for me! Chase is hilarious and I love him dearly. He has been in love with asshole Alex since they were kids but Alex has always treated Chase like an after thought. Sarah is Chase's best friend from childhood, the same as Sam. Having read the blurb I knew what was coming, so it wasn't a surprise when all the STUFF happens. I was still so hurt for Chase. He loved these guys and for them to betray him, to know everything he thought he knew was a lie, was hard to read. Then tag in Cameron and Cyrus and you have a real fun party - not.
Chase handles things well upon his return and devises and plan for revenge. Sadly, things don't go as planned and his enemies become his saviors, reluctance on all sides. Oh yeah, Chase is the vessel to their diety so he needs blood and...sex? Why yes, yes it is indeed sex. Lots and lots of sex with the harem who would have previously been legarthic at best in reaction to never seeing Chase again.
I did have trouble seeing Chase with Sam. That just wasn't their relationship and they were BFFs...sorta, for Chase anyway. It was weird but I just squinted my eyes to read through it.
There is so much good stuff here, and I can't reveal all. Let's see, Sarah ran away and is in hiding - I am very interested to see what her role will be...and how her guys will defend Chase against her. Feelings are coming out towards Chase none of these guys expected and I believe they will defend him against her and all others.
The ending wasn't a big surprise since the blurb gave it away, ugh, but I know some readers don't like that so I understand why it was mentioned. I need book 2 now please!!! Don't make me wait long!
RTC but i’m honestly confused between loving this book and wanting to hug the main character for 12 hours straight. I’m not sure at all how I feel about this book yet, this one took me for a ride, one i’m pretty sure I enjoyed though. I had a lot of fun reading this book though.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review
As a huge fan of "The Wolf's Mate", obviously I adored Chase, as well as the whole group! L. C. Davis delivers that characteristic hilarious quality that it's well known for in "The Wolf's Mate"... Chase has me completely enamored, and waiting on the edge of me seat for his next snide remark. I'm living for it! So this is an unquestionably highly-humorous book throughout!
OMG, this was such a fun romp! It's basically gay Twilight on LSD, and I loved it! Chase is a super snarky character and it was a ton of fun to read from his POV. The story is totally over the top, and that's what makes it great.
The first few pages were hard to get into but I'm so glad I stuck with it. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel - note that the book ends on a hard cliff hanger, but I'm not even mad. The sequel is scheduled for publication on 30 June 2022.
This is a hard book for me to rate. On the one hand I loved Chase, and when the story was about him plotting revenge and discovering his powers, it was glorious and everything I needed. On the other hand I truly hated all of the other characters, who are basically a combination of every psychopathic murderer and abusive ex trope that you find in other romance novels, except the main character isn't saved by the hero(es) in this case because there are simply none here.
Even though I read the blurb, it didn't prepare me for just how horrifying Chase's ordeal would be. Two of the harem members—Cyrus and Cameron—Chase has only known a few years, since highschool.
But the two other harem members he's known since he was a kid.
Alex dates him while being in love with Chase's (female) best friend and just waiting around for her to be the vessel of his ultimate goddess love, while constantly ignoring and emotionally manipulating Chase aside from the times he selfishly uses him for sex (including taking his virginity) while not being decent enough to care about Chase's pleasure even in that. All while knowing that Chase is hopelessly in love with him.
Sam is even worse, believe it or not. He's been best friends with Chase since they were kids. They literally grew up together, knew each other's families, had nicknames they only used for each other.
And every single one of them were complicit in using Chase as a living sacrifice to try and summon their goddess. Alex lures him to an abandoned area, where they strap him down while he's pleading for his life, asking them why they're doing this to him, and then look him in the eyes as they stab him in the heart and murder him. They then cover up the knife wound and dump his body in the local morgue as a John Doe. They saw him as nothing but a tool, and even in death they treated him like a worthless piece of garbage.
It was just absolutely horrifying, and I'm still upset even recalling that level of callous betrayal from people that Chase loved and trusted completely. Especially considering way too much of the rest of the book is about those same murdering assholes trying to figure out how to kill and remove his spirit so their goddess can have full control of his body.
If this had been a story about Chase discovering his powers, finding his confidence, and taking revenge on the evil people that murdered him for their own selfish purposes while finding true love with people who see his worth and support him, it would be a 5-star read for me without question.
As it is, a story about a guy who has been betrayed in the worst ways possible and then treated like nothing but an inconvenience for not just dying and letting his body be used as a skin suit for the insane goddess that his murdering, betraying, so-called friends/boyfriend are obsessed with, it's so damn frustrating. For whatever reason, I know the author is going to write Chase into an HEA relationship with his abusers/murderers and I just am never going to be okay with that happening. It's bad enough that Chase is due to those pieces of garbage.
So in terms of ratings, I'm just going with the middle ground. 5-stars for the MC, the writing which was technically excellent and had great flow that made it gripping to read and hard to put down, and a story that had tremendous potential as a revenge tale. 1-star for some of the most garbage and irredeemable male leads I've ever read, and the fact that it's going to be another story where a victim ends up in a romantic relationship with their toxic abuser(s).
A pretty young man with flowing white hair being sacrificed by the big bad vampires? SIGN ME UP. I know that the recipe sounds a good mixture of delicious tropes, but this book was still FAR from conventional. It was about an ultimate, lasting betrayal that burned throughout the entire book, and I LOVE it when a character can hold a grudge. None of that "OOOOOH NOOOO YOU KIDNAPPED ME, BUT YER SO HOT I LUVVVV YOU" bs. Nope. This one stuck with it. In the beginning, Chase was met with being betrayed violently by the people he loved and held in the highest regard, and it was gut-wrenching. When he ultimately plotted revenge, I was cheering (the buildup in that scene was perfect). I definitely don't like any of the many-o-men lined up for Chase in this reverse harem (well, because they were the betrayers and I hold it against them) but I am sort of figuring this will be a slow-burn, emotionally-wise. If there is such thing as a slow-burn in an MMMMM, Abernathy can do it, and I'll be here for it. I thought the the first half of the book was more angst-filled, which was necessary for what happened in the plot, and I enjoyed it. I am hoping more of that darkness returns in the second (and third?) book. Because as far as I can tell, Chase has a LOT to be angry at. Loved his character. Keep the ditziness coming. AND NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE COVER. I am on the edge of my seat for book 2, and also I need a second Bloodline (my fave vamp Abernathy book) Can't wait!
WHAT?! JUST… I AM SHOOKETH. There was never a point in this book where I didn’t want to punch everyone except the OG MC. Bad Blood indeed. His crew did him DIRTY.
I went into this for thanks to a mix of great reviews, the promise of MMMM+, & the overall sass-tastic tone I got from the blurb. Honestly, I didn’t have high expectations, or really any at all. Damn did this book throw me for a loop . Complete chokehold. It was EXCELLENT.
This was my first ever dive into an mpreg universe, & I didn’t think it’d be my jam. Granted it’s barely even part of the book but still, it’s a thing, & shockingly I didn’t even bat an eyelash. It seemed perfectly acceptable thanks to the way the writing & plot sucked me into the illusion so completely. I cannot wait for the next one. Like… I need it BAD.
I’ve been holding off on this, knowing it was a cliffhanger (thank you to the author for mentioning that in the blurb). And it’s a good thing, because I couldn’t put it down.
Chase is a really amusing lead. I’m finding myself enjoying the harem set up, though I hadn’t be sure going in if I would enjoy such a set up.
Complaints? There are three main characters with ‘C’ names: Chase, Cyrus and Cameron. Could Chase not have been named something else? There’s a whole slew of other names to pick from. And I wish this was told entirely from Chase’s POV, and I’m not a fan of dual POV, let along a penta POV. And a random dance mentioned as though we are supposed to know what dance, when it had never been mentioned before. In spite of those three things, my overall enjoyment didn’t suffer.
I am conflicted with this story. It is a very interesting concept and I really feel for Chase considering all the crap that has been thrown at him. And while I read the blurb, I can’t believe how far the backstabbing goes and I understand why Chase doesn’t just take it all in stride. The story is well written and I am very interested in seeing how this all continues to play out.
Edit: the series is not finished yet, and it’s been 2 years since the last book was published. Ends with a cliffhanger. Do with that what you will…. I wouldn’t have spent 2 days reading if I knew it. Should’ve checked better 😭
🏷️ Tropes & tags: MMMMM (why choose/spoke and wheel) Omegaverse Friends/boyfriend/h@te to enemies to lovers Forced proximity Sacr!ficed human boy x cult vampiric guys Vampires and supernaturals Witches Alphahole Age gap (duh, vampires lol) POV: 1st person, multi Heat: 4 scenes, medium heat Angst: medium

Well this premise had me really interested, and so far it didn’t disappoint!
This was a really fun book! It’s definitely set up much differently from any other paranormal romance I’ve read, and that’s one of the reasons I decided to give this series a try.
I absolutely love Chase and feel so much for him. The guys have some good groveling to do to earn his (and my) trust and affections…..
Don’t read this book for a cute romance, because so far in this book there’s none of that so far. I have no idea what’s in store for the future, but I think the love interests will turn out to be pretty sweet in their morally grey way (I hope!).
I tagged this as dubcon because of how the story and smexy times are set up. It’s not really a choice, but he still wanted it in the moment if it makes sense? Don’t wanna spoil it for ya too much.
What an absolutely wild world this is! Chase is having a rough go. His best friends are in a secret club with two men that he hates, and his boyfriend is barely paying attention to him. When his boyfriend invites him on a special date night, Chase is both excited and leery. Until he gets to their destination…and discovers this is not a date, it’s an attack he never saw coming. This is a world of paranormal that’s full of fantastical creatures. Goddesses, witches, vampires, and shifters. It’s also a really fun group of characters. Chase is trying get a handle on his emo side, Sam is struggling with guilt and remorse, Alex is regretting being a subpar boyfriend. Then there’s the twins…Cyrus and Cameron are fantastic characters. Mysterious, sarcastic, and dominating, they are definitely the leaders in this pack
I don’t want to spoil any of the plot, but this was a really fun journey and a great new world with twists, turns, funny barbs, and 🔥🔥🔥 hot hot heat!
This is most definitely not a love story. At this point of the story, it is very hard for me to envision how it will end up as one. It is very hard to like any of the characters who I am assuming will make up the poly relations with Chase. Sam is the most likable of the bunch and that really isn't saying much. Alex, I absolutely hate as a character and I'm not sure it is possible to redeem him. Still, I was fully invested in the story and really want to see what happens in the future. Hopefully, the next book will come out soon.
This is a paranormal mmm+ mpreg harem story. Our main character, Chase, is a (seemingly) normal human who has been childhood best friends with Sarah, Alex, and Sam. Twins, Cameron and Cyrus, are Sarah's "boyfriends" and Chase has a mutual dislike with them.
Chase: He gave very TSTL-type vibes at first and I was rolling my eyes at his naiveity a lot, but after the ritual, you see some character development and I started liking him a lot more. He's presented as a normal human but shows some powers later on that has everyone questioning his lineage, so I'm intrigued to find out this mystery.
Alex: At first, he seemed like your typical cold aloof boyfriend-with-no-personality character, but then he has this 180 degree personality change after the ritual and I started hating him. Especially since most of the book is in Chase's POV (with a few chapters from the other 4), we get to see the huge difference in how Alex treated Chase before and after the ritual and Chase's feelings really came across. His hate for Alex definitely made me feel the same way. Alex is (supposedly) the only gay or bi one among the "harem" while the others were/are super straight. Since he's the most-hated one amongst them, he's also the only one Chase hasn't had sex with.
Sam: He's Chase's best friend and I don't really feel much for him yet. The chapter that we get from his POV shows he was reluctant with the ritual but also very regretful. We see he's really remoreful for having done that to Chase and he does a lot of groveling to try to get back in Chase's good graces and is half successful. Even though he initially had trouble coming to terms with their now-awakened-goddess being in a guy's body, Sam starts to see Chase differently when he goes into heat and then sexy smut ensues.
Cameron: Had the "enemy" role in this enemeies to lovers trope since the beginning. Couldn't stand Chase (and vice versa) and even though he stays true to his hatred, he still had no trouble joining Chase and Cyrus in the shower to have sexy times whewwwww. Him and Cyrus are vampires but he's able to shift into a lion every full moon. No one knows why and I'm definitely super curious to find out
Cyrus: He seems like the most responsible one and the voice of reason. He's also the one doing most of the explaining/teaching to Chase after his awakening from the ritual. Even though vampires are not able to use any kind of magic in this world, he still sits with Chase to teach him the rules and concept of magic through books. I like Cyrus the most out of the harem boys so far.
The book ends in with a small cliffhanger where they find out why Chase has been sick the past few weeks. Spoiler, he's pregnant. I'm interested in finding out how the mpreg works in this world. Would it be like a human's 9-months or would it be shorter because his body was altered from a blood goddess inhabiting it? Ichor, the blood goddess, also disappears from Chase's mind about halfway through the book and I'm curious where she went. Sarah seems to be cooking up something so we're obviously going to see her and have conflict again. Very eager to see the guys' reaction to her reappearance later on.
So eagerly anticipating book 2 and highly recommend this book for anyone that loves new adult (college-age) paranormal harem fantasy and is ok with mpreg!
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by the author.
