Galactic Gladiator Mate

Rate this book
Lilly thought the disaster that was supposed to be her wedding would be the worst thing to happen to her that day. Boy oh boy was she wrong. Apparently aliens are a thing and they're in the mood for abducting random humans. Unfortunately, she happens to be one of those humans.
Vrid is a gladiator, a deadly entertainer on a dying planet. He never imagined he'd find a soulmate as they're rare for his people. He definitely didn't think he'd find her in the arena during the planet’s biggest celebration of the the year.

It’s your wedding day, everything is going great till it’s time to walk down the aisle. First your dad is late, then you find out your mom slept with your fiancé, oh and to top it off your abducted by aliens.

We follow Lilly as she is taken from her home, abused and beaten, and strung up as bait in a gladiator match. But when she comes to she’s not alone, she’s hurt, and can’t understand the alien who has her.
Vrid didn’t expect to find his mate but when he sees her he will do everything to keep her safe and help her heal.

This book has the best tropes and is done in an incredible way. A FMC who isn’t perfect and knows she has limitations. A MMC who is protective but knows to give her space. And although at first they can’t communicate they find a way to understand each other and trust each other.

This amazing book brings up a question not many alien romance books bring up, what happens if your abducted and you have food allergies! As someone with Celiac Disease I love that this is brought up. I haven’t found another book where the main character has food allergies and is terrified to eat. Never knowing if you’ll have a reaction or not. And when Vrid finds out Lilly is sick he finds a way to make sure she’s safe and healthy.

I had already pre-ordered this book so I was super excited to receive an ARC read. I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to continue the series! The writing is great and the story telling is incredible!

For the love of Pete, please proofread you sh*t before you publish it. Nothing like reading a story, and the author uses the wrong version of there. I can't even bring myself to finish the series because this one was so poorly written. I was excited for some alien smut, and the smut scenes were a let down. I wouldn't recommend this novella to anyone.

I didn’t know what more to expect from a short “spicy” book about an alien abduction from the perspective of a vulnerable woman and a horn-dog alien male. The story was unintentionally funny. The dialogue in the intimate scenes didn’t seem natural. There were also very minimal scene descriptions, which made some parts hard to keep up with. Switching the point of view was also an issue for me at the beginning of the book. I didn’t realize who was speaking until a little after the first paragraph of each chapter. I did get used to it eventually, but it wouldn’t have hurt to have some indication of who’s POV I was reading from.

The Language Barrier:
I’m probably nitpicking, but I find it hard to believe how perfectly “human slang” translated to Vrid’s language and vice-versa. Terms like “sl*t” are one thing, but Vrid calling Lily “baby girl” with sexual context is hilarious and somewhat unbelievable. I don’t expect a lesson in alien linguistics when reading sci-fi erotica, but these are things some writers could consider when stepping into these genres. However, I do appreciate the author’s creativity with creating original names for the alien characters.

The Characters:
I do think the story has potential, though. I would have liked it more if I read everything through Vrid’s perspective instead of having it switched between his and Lily’s. I also think that confining such an interesting character to a couple of spaces and having him dote on Lily weighs the story down a bit. I wanted to read more about the gladiator exploits and the system that put him in there in the first place. Exploring that and his relationship with Lily at a steady pace would have kept me more interested in both of them as characters.

Lily’s also interesting. We are introduced to her as her relationship/marriage dissipates and then she’s forced into another one. A woman who lost a lot on earth would probably be too distraught to move on to a new relationship. Why isn’t she thinking about her capture? Why isn’t she more worried? How would the story differ if she was reluctant to begin a relationship, sexual or not, with a man of a different species? What if she tried escaping on her own before meeting Vrid? What about her should make me care about her?

Like I said before, the story has potential. I’ll continue reading the next books to see if my questions about the characters and the world they’re in are ever answered. But so far this is my first impression of the books.

This is my arc review

This is the classic alien abduction gladiator mate rescue story.
Was it new? No
Was it perfect? Nope
Did I thoroughly enjoy it though? yes!
Solid 3.5 stars for me. Here is why I can't give it more even if I really wanted to love it.

There were a few grammar/misspelled errors and repetitive words mostly in the second half. The author could benefit from a proof reader.

This is a pretty short novella so everything felt a bit rushed for me. The first 30% or so was great. The way he took care of her while she was healing. Sweet and caring and attentive.
He changes her bandages and after promising to not touch her gets in the bath with her and proceeded to do the exact opposite (granted she wanted it)
This felt like inserting smut for smut's sake.
Maybe I'm asking for too much plot with my erotica?

Also what kind of alien calls his mate baby girl? Lol I read a lot of alien romance/erotica but this read a bit like a contemporary sex in the dialogues.

I did really like the characters though and I will definitely read the rest.
Looking forward to Klarx and Violet!

First of all, let me preface this by saying I will be reading the rest of the series when it is released.

The story follows the MC Lilly, who was abducted the same night as her wedding, after she ran out of it because she found out from her father that her now ex-fiancé slept with her mother. Lilly is tortured, and she meets Violet, who was also abducted and tortured.
Lilly is thrown into a battle as bait for the monster, and unknowingly, her mate, Vrid, is fighting in said battle. He does everything he can to save her and then take care of her, getting her back to health.
The first 30-40% of the book was very well written, but then it seemed like the smut was added in before it should have been, although it was well written.
The book wasn’t perfect, as none are, there were some spelling and grammatical errors, but nothing that was distracting to the writing. Overall, it was a good book, and I rated it 3.5/5 stars.

I will preface this review with the fact that I read a lot of “romance” books. From dark romance to paranormal romance to alien romance and everything in between.
This is an alien romance unlike most of them I have read. Yes, the MC is put in a situation not on her planet. No, she doesn’t fight tooth & nail. Yes, there is mates, BUT, it isn’t domination and submission that wins her over.
The male MC is probably the best version of an alien mate you could ever hope for. The story itself is believable (as far as aliens go) and well written. It isn’t unbelievable situation after unbelievable situation. The arcs of the book are what I truly feel could happen, being thrust onto an alien planet with an alien mate.

Will definitely read the rest of the series!!

I received an ARC for the novella and this is my unbiased review.

This was alot of fun. Our hero Vrid is the entire package, complete with horns, dirty talk and a vibrating tail. And our heroine Lily gets thrust from one bad situation to another before quite literally landing in his lap.

This novella was super fun, and had a surprising amount of world building mixed into all the smut. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one.

I enjoyed this book, it was a fast read for me. The MMC was very sweet and caring to the FMC, though he did enjoy being dirty. The spice was at a nice level. The only thing I wish it had more of was the MMC description. We know he was purple, had horns, a tail, and fangs and that's it. I will be waiting for the next books.

I got this book as an ARC.

I had a wonderful time reading this book. It was fast paced with a perfect flow.Inta love with a found family undertone and the spice was good aswell.I would've liked if his speech was a little more otherworldly at times I felt like he sounded very human to me but I mean how fun to have a purple alien with a vibrating tail and a dom personality

ABSOLUTELY LOOOOOVE THIS STORY AND SMUT but the wriitiig.....

This with is good and short and sweet. And i love the smutty sexy scenes with a dominant alient. Yuuummmmm. But the writing leaves so much to be desired. Endless typos, grammatical error, and missing words. This seriously needs a proof reader. And the beginning was just full of long paragraphs with no dialogue. This honestly reads like a wattpad story. I love wattpad stories and this would have been fine there. But for a published book, it has a lot of issues.

But nevertheless i loved the story and the male protagonist. I wish I had one Of him

I love this book so much. I've read a few alien romance stories but this one is definitely in my top list. The plot was well thought out and written. I enjoyed this book a lot. Absolutely recommend this book to anyone who wants a different kind of romance story to read!

A nice story but not very well written. There were quite a few grammatical errors (using stalked instead of stocked) that really bugged me. I think the overall story line is much like any other alien romance but this one felt very rushed after the first half of the story and ended quite abruptly.

Surprised

I didn't expect this to be so good. Yes, there are some details I would have loved to have, but the storyline is fascinating. Really want to know how Violet handles her predicament.

Pros: Celiac Rep!!, short little read, and the spicy was nice.

Cons: Needs someone to go through and edit, seems really similar to Ice Planet Barbarian, the translator tech was weird.

I liked the concept a lot but this really needs to be fleshed out a bit better and proofread. With some work I think this could have been a 4 star but, as it stands, I couldn't even bring myself to finish reading it.

This was quick but fun read. I am very surprised how well rounded the story was! The spicy scenes were *chefs kiss*. Did he speak more like a human dom with human pet names during the spicy scenes? .. yes, but I don’t care cuz those are my favorite pet names 😂😂💜
