Dr. Bellah’s third retirement book is fact filled, fast paced and witty. He introduces you to fun things to learn, fun places to visit and fun ways to get there. In addition, he lists fun things to make, fun ways to exercise and fun gigs for earning extra money. And then there are fun things to read and watch and listen to and eat.

Bellah shows ways to increase your fun by experiencing it with others. And his final chapter asks, “What is fun and makes the world a better place, too?”

I enjoyed this book and I think it would be a fun and interesting gift idea for anyone retiring! This was gifted to me by a friend when I retired from teaching about 18 months ago. When it was given to me I skipped around a bit, reading a few chapters here and there but did not read the entire book until now. This book is organized with chapters based on categories/topics, so it's easy to use as a reference and easy to find what you might be interested in exploring. For example, there are chapters on food experiences, travel, water activities/experiences, volunteering, etc. The author has a friendly, light hearted voice and the text is very reader friendly. I'm rating this 4 stars rather than 5 simply because I do think in a few years parts of the book and recommendations made here by the author would need to be updated, but this book also gives the reader ideas about places and activities that would be easy to look up online with regard to updated info.

Put your shoes on and go!

This little book is a fast reading review of at least a 1000 things you can do to entertain yourself in you old age. The author encourages the reader to step out and enjoy the world around you. It is helpful that he lists those 1001 things that can jump start your adventures. He says it's not the destination it's the journey! I enjoyed this little book very much.
