Firefighter Spencer Finley battles fires by day, but the military veteran’s nights are plagued by nightmares of his Army job. So many bodies, so much destruction. He’s passionate about his work, but pulling a dance teacher and her dog out of the smoke sparks a new kind of fire in his heart.
Burning desire…
Brooklyn D’Angelo is gambling everything she has on her dream of owning a successful dance studio. She didn’t leave the sexual harassment of the New York dance scene just to lose everything to a fire. When Spencer offers to help her salvage the studio—and the show that could make or break it—they discover Spencer’s unusual gift for dance. And with every touch and every step she teaches him, the heat builds.
Facing the music…
When Spencer asks Brook to choreograph the story of his life—a dance of fire and flames that will force him to confront his demons—she can’t say no. But when a former Army buddy has a crisis, will Spencer honor an oath to his friend, or keep his commitment to Brook? They’ve been dancing around their feelings for each other. Do they have the courage to extinguish the past and face the future together?
Tracey’s writing has been described as “vivid” and “gut-wrenchingly beautiful” and has been accused of making readers cry. All of which makes her heart feel ten times bigger because (despite having the appearance of a got-it-together business owner) she’s a hopeless romantic who believes that love—in all its many forms—truly makes the world go round.
Get swept away by wounded, flawed and vulnerable heroes (and the women who love them).
Join strong heroines on their riveting journeys through loss, forgiveness and self-realization.
Hang onto the edge of your seat through action-packed adventure and drama.
And most of all, escape into the combustible combination of ‘slow burn’ sensual pleasure and true love!

Tracey is a former Army combat medic and EMT. When not writing (or working part-time to support her writing habit), Tracey enjoys riding her motorcycle (which she affectionately calls ‘Black Widow’); spending time at the lake with family; and watching her favorite soccer teams (which include her kids’).
She lives on a 3-acre oasis in small-town Minnesota with a small menagerie of critters, an infinitesimally understanding hubby, and two almost-grown children who put up with the ‘embarrassment’ of a motorcycle-riding, romance writing mom!
A quick read, page turner that had me sniffling at the end. We meet Brooklyn and her dog, Cup, like tea cup. Spencer, saves them and we are off. There are so many feels here, that were shared so well I felt myself lifting my arms and swaying, wishing I was a dancer. Feeling the sorrow as Spencer deals with his nightmares. Watching a crisis take place as Spencer and his buddy try and deal. Loving the fire department showing brotherhood is not just in the service. Tears, tears with the real struggles they share and tears of hope the way its handled in the end. Sorry, not a very good review to tell you what happens, but that is what the blurb is for on the book, this all the ways it made me feel and yes I did go check out real dancers Tracey Cramer-Kelly references in her book. I am a member of Soldiers Angels and we write and send packages to the deployed. We also help veterans at home and families, so this book really hit me. Well done. Thank you for the arc, I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.
It was a cute and quick read, but I was missing the "oomf" of the romance. The leads lacked in chemistry - there was some, but not enough to make this an incredible read.
I also need more of the dog Dixie - she is featured on the cover and is only occasionally mentioned.
This is a touching, at times heartbreaking as well as heartwarming story about two individuals that are rising from the ashes to become stronger as they overcome the pain of the past and create a new future. Spencer Finley, a firefighter and a veteran, still has nightmares of his time in Afghanistan. Brooklyn/Brook D’Angelo is the dance teacher of the new studio . One she has built with a lot of sweat and tears. When Spencer rescued her and her dog from a fire in her studio and home, neither expected that their lives would change forever. While Spencer helps her rebuilt her studio and befriends Brook, she helps him express his sorrow by dancing. But what happens when a fellow veteran is in need? Will all that Spencer had accomplished go up in flames? Will their relationship suffer? This story is a reminder of the horrors many of the valiant enlisted men and women encounter while at war. Upon their return they, as well as their families, need our support. Not only as individuals, but also as a nation. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Spencer and Brook"s story touched me on so many level, the ride left me almost bare in the end. Spencer"s journey is heartfelt, beautiful and horrific, and si so deep. I loved the way Brook compmimented Spencer. I absolutely loved Spencers huge heart and how deep he fekt. This story touches so many different issues, emotions and takes us on a journey of forgiveness and honour. The dance with fire penetrated my soul honouring those who died to give us freedom...WOW
He struggles with the things he witnessed. She is trying to achieve her dream. Will he find an outlet to let go of the past? Will she be able to achieve what she has always wanted?
Have to say, I loved how this touched on several sensitive topics. I loved seeing him start to let out the pain he had and find a creative way to express himself. I loved how she was determined to bounce back and help those around her. Good read!
