Sarah Wheeler knows what she wants. Marriage and children are not part of her plans. She’s seen too many marriages fall apart. The last thing she wants is to be a statistic. As for children, Sarah doesn’t see herself as the nurturing type. She’s content helping her mother run the Key Lime Garden Inn on Captiva Island and working as Director of Community Relations at Southwest Florida’s Outreach Center. Work leaves her with little time for romance—until infuriating, charming, and intriguing Trevor Hutchins distracts Sarah and throws her off balance.
Trevor Hutchins has traveled the globe. No one captured his attention or heart—until he met Sarah Wheeler. A humanitarian who thrives on making a difference in people’s lives, Trevor can never stay in one place for more than a few months. Being close to home means struggling against his controlling family, especially his capitalist father. The past is about to catch up with Trevor and threaten his plans to forge a forever relationship with Sarah.
Maggie Wheeler has her dream life. As the owner of the Key Lime Garden Inn on Captiva Island, she’s found paradise. Every morning she walks on the beach, remembering the past, but looking forward to tomorrow. With each passing day, she feels closer to Paolo Moretti, the owner of a Sanibel Island’s popular nursery, Sanibellia. At 50, Maggie wonders if a second chance at love might be in her future after all.
Paolo Moretti loved Maggie Wheeler on sight. Years ago, he came to Sanibel Island from his home in Gaeta, Italy. Working with his sister, Ciara, they built a thriving plant nursery. Until now, Paolo’s true purpose lay in this work. After a traumatic year, Paolo gave Maggie the space she needed, he’s waited long enough. He’ll do whatever it takes to show Maggie that she can trust him with her heart.

A Captiva Wedding - Annie Cabot - Book 2 of the Captiva Series
A continuing story of the Wheeler family and their acceptance of their loss of their husband and father. This book is about growth, change, and forgiveness. New relationships develop. Sarah and Trevor overcome their awkward beginning and build a relationship with a few surprises. Maggie, the main character moves on from her heartbreak and deepens her relationship with Paolo. Trevor who for years has been estranged from his family works on a reconciliation.
As in Book 1, a serious situation arises in one paragraph and is resolved and swept aside in the next paragraph. We do not experience the process by which that situation is resolved.
As I was reading this book I was planning to give it 4 stars, however, for the same reason I gave Book One only three stars, I have to take that rating down to 3 again because of editing. The inconsistency of detail is really annoying. In an early chapter Trevor refers to his son Noah as the first grandchild in the family. At the end Noah is playing in the water with Catherine’s (Trevor’s sister) two children. That would make them the first grandchildren. If the author or editors can’t pick up that inconsistency or choose to ignore it, I can’t give this book a higher rating.
The story is uncomplicated and can be a good fluff read especially as a buffer between books with heavier, more suspenseful plots.
I was a bit pensive, after reading book #1. I’m so happy to write this review on book#2. I’m now all in, on this series! I couldn’t put my finger on why I felt off, after reading book #1. I loved Sarah & I wanted to love Maggie, but I felt her dialogue & development were a bit stilted. All that changed with book #2. She was more developed & what I had read as stilted in book #1, was her way of coping with all the turmoil. It didn’t ring true to me. In book #2, she was much deeper & evolved, knowing herself better. This enabled her to be more authentic & honest with herself. Her healing journey was so fulfilling. I’m so glad I read book #2 & can’t wait to read book #3.
Maggie Wheeler’s story continues n this second novel in the Captiva series. The Inn is running well and Maggie is finally living a life of her own choosing. Her daughter Sarah is living with Maggie and looking to move closer to her job. Both women are healing and learning to trust and love again, finally. This is an excellent story about family relationships, good friends, finding love and trusting your heart. I highly recommend it.
Delightful family stories that weave through several families and locations. Be prepared to experience good times and bad. Nothing is whitewashed and you can identify with situations that occur all around us.
The descriptions of Captiva and Sanibel islands are breathtaking and provide cozy settings for a growing cast of characters.
Well I had to read it. I had to see how things got resolved from the previous book. It is well written, and a series I would continue to read. It was predictable for the most part but very enjoyable and a great quick escape.
I loved this second book of the Captiva series. The characters are well developed and very interesting. I enjoy being privy to the introspection of the main characters. Read this book and get hooked!!
This is such a pleasant series to read and I'm happy I have the next one to continue reading. Although it is sad to realize a lot of the beautiful places in the book have been destroyed by the hurricane!
This book was a delightful contemporary romance. Full of fantastic characters that are strong supportive family and very likable. As I read this oh ,how you wish you could lay on beach.
Another great story, Maggie and Paleo fell in love. Plans to marry. Daniel's lady from the affair comes to Captiva. I just know any one will enjoy as much as I did.
The romance continues with a wedding, a proposal, and love. New found love, feelings, overcoming the past. New and old families come together. I see another wedding and some more pain in the future. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Love this series. Great characters romance galore but g rated which is fresh and new in the romance genre. Reminds me of Nora Robert’s books which I love. New Annie Cabot fan for sure!!
Annie Cabot shows a deep understanding of the human heart and the emotions life can throw at you. Her novels are wonderfully constructed and with a depth of feeling. You cannot go wrong with this story. I am eagerly awaiting the next one in this series.
Being a foster and adopting mother, this story has special meaning for me. The story of Maggie and Paulo is beautiful but Sarah and Trevor's story is special.
This second book tied up the ending of the first island book. This one was very predictable and could have used a few more twists and turns to create more suspense.
Enjoyed the character development, plot lines, and Florida Is. setting more than in the first book. Still had to skim through a lot of repeat emotional content.
A pleasant novel giving me the beach time I so desperately want while unable to physically be there. Transports you to the beach without the need to pack. A beautiful diversion.
