It was supposed to be a fun getaway with my best friend, until I ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere Montana. There I was, freezing to death, when three men came to my rescue and thawed the icicles around my heart. There's one little they aren't human. When my own haunted past comes calling, they stand by my side and protect me. But can I overcome my own demons and accept I have mates? Or will my own fears cripple me? Seeking Snow Falls is a fated mates reverse harem shifter romance with multiple POV’s, adult situations, and MM. It also features references to depression, self-harm, and overcoming abuse. It will be a part of a series of standalone books, each ending with a HEA and a different FMC in each book.
Jenn D. Young isn't the only author I discovered because of the Silver Springs series. I think most of the authors I'm reading nowadays I discovered because of Silver Springs. It's just a great way to get to know the writing style of an author, to see where the focus lies in their books, to discover if their characters click. And Jenn D. Young was certainly an author I liked in the Silver Springs series. So, when I got the chance to read an arc for this book I didn't hesitate.
In a lot of ways a big part of the plot of this story isn't too original. A woman gets lost, ends up in a small town, gets rescued by some handsome men and these men are secretly shifters and discover the woman is their mate, but she's human so they have to figure out how to break the news to her. However, the originality of this story lies in the finale, when small things mentioned by characters come together and when an epic showdown follows.
Until the finale the story focusses mostly on the characters and their bond. Although the attraction between these characters in there from the start, Young takes her time to also have the characters build a more emotional connection. They have meaningful conversations, they dare to be vulnerable around each other and they learn that honesty is the best way to clear the air. I liked how this made the relationship more than just fate telling them they were good together. We saw they really were.
It also gives the individual characters in the story the time to grow and learn and to most of all find their own self worth. I have to admit I'm not always a fan of needing love interests to find that self worth, but in this case it was actually quite nicely done. Neither of the characters really had to change themselves. They simply had to learn to trust that being themselves, with scars and history, is more than enough for the others.
The story’s plot was interesting enough & the only reason I finished the book. Though if the books in this series are supposed to be stand-alone, there were too many loose ends left in this story. The author needs to work on the emotional connections of the main characters, I never felt the “love” between the 4 main characters, thru the whole book. I need more than mentioning the mythical “mate bond” to feel the connections. In my opinion, Conner was a total jerk off, that I really didn’t ever like or feel was good Alpha material, just an immature jerk who needed to flex his control by using the BDSM for that. I find it hard to want to read about a set of main characters if I feel a disconnect with even one of them. Then the author did a horrible disservice for the actual situation relating to real life types of issues for 2 of the 4 main characters, Cameron who suffered PTSD; & Lainey who came out of a physically abusive relationship with some definite trauma from that. She was almost killed in that relationship! The author briefly shows these lingering effects at first contact when meeting the mates, but suddenly, just days later after meeting each other (mates), they both seem to be miraculously cured/recovered from them & they are all better. This is so the author can move the story along & add in her BDSM kink to the story to try to add shock value to the story -it is very insensitive. It actually was disturbing for me and caused me to have a HUGE disconnect from the story & I had to skip thru those sex scenes (I hate BDSM in the stories I read anyway- since I cannot relate to pain -sexually). It bothered me a whole lot that it all could have been glossed over so easily for Cameron & Lainey. Those sorts of horrendous traumas take some people a lifetime to get over -if ever. I’ve heard some PTSD survivors never recover. I can speak to this personally from a verbally abusive past relationship that still gives me lingering issues almost 20 years later and that’s just verbal abuse! I don’t foresee ever getting past the verbal/emotional abuse at this point in my life, so for those 2 to be okey dokey after a few days, nope, not buying that load of crap! I definitely won’t continue with the series, & I probably won’t read more from this author due to the insensitive treatment of those issues.
At my age (approaching 60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
I really didn't enjoy this book. Plot felt sloppy, particularly with the whole shifter mate transformation part: Added to that, there are proofreading errors - the author even mixes up the name of the diner in the story and switches it from Leopard's Spot to Leopard's Paw.
Then there are the characters. Beyond really disliking Connor, who acts like a 16 year old rather than a grown adult, I also had major problems with how the author handled her characters' trauma.
Then there is the resolution with Max. Just far too many plot threads left dangling, but I have no interest in seeing whether they are actually addressed in later books. The books in this series are supposed to be standalones, so those threads should have been wrapped up.
This started out strong. I liked that we got right into the story - the characters meet in the second chapter and their connection is immediately apparent. However, once the sexy parts started, my enjoyment level started to wane and I found quite a few things annoying.
First off - Connor - he's the alpha shifter of the pack but he acts like a horny, hot-headed dickwad. Maybe it's my prejudice that pack Alphas need to serious for their serious role. Connor was anything but. Also, he used 6 different pet names for Laney throughout the book. Just pick one, dude!
Secondly, Connor and Adam have had a sexual relationship for years. I understood it to be something they did to meet their mutual desires (Connor's for domination and Adam's for submission) while they waited to meet their mate. Their relationship came off more like romantic lovers. Nearly all sex scenes involved them having sex with each other as well as with Laney. To me that wouldn't have been the case if they weren't romantically interested in each other, but that's not how Young described it to be. The dynamics were not clear enough for me.
I also struggled with the timeline. Everything happens within less than 1 1/2 weeks: meeting the family, finding out the MMCs are shifters and that they are mates, their bonding, Laney's shifting, and the fight against the bad guy. Fated mates or not, there was no need for such an expedited time line.
I know I was supposed to get a cozy, but sorta wacky, family vibe from Connor's extended family, but everything felt forced. Babushka's broom was mentioned 10 too many times.
Some positives: I did like that the shifters were snow leopards. That's a little different of an animal than normal. The story kept my interest and I did care about the characters.
3.5 stars. So. I liked it. But also. It didn’t deliver like I wanted..?
I honestly am not sure I could pinpoint a reason for me not loving this. I just know that something was missing, and I liked it, but not as much as I wanted to.
Basically everything was okay. The plot was a bit too slow in the beginning and then lightning speed at the end. Like they ran out of room and were trying to hurry up and finish. Or like it was an afterthought and they wanted it over before the book ended. Though if that’s the case they did a horrible job since there was a bit of a cliffhanger.
One of those, HEA for the MCs but continue on to the next book for the side characters, in multiple ways.
I don’t know. It was good. But it wasn’t great. And I feel like that’s been happening to me a lot lately.
We join Laney, FMC, as she is going on a spur-of-the-moment trip to see her best friend. She is recovering from a traumatic past and all she wants is girl-time with her bestie, unfortunately, a blizzard starts and she very quickly gets lost and ultimately runs out of gas. While she pulls into the closed gas station she begins to drift off and that's when things get interesting. She is found by Cameron, Connor, and Adam who rescue her from freezing to death. When she wakes up she realizes that not everything is as black and white as she thought. She is drawn to the three men who seem to be just as drawn to her and despite the freezing temperatures outside, the temperatures inside become tropical!
I absolutely loved this story, yes we have the normal human-meets-shifter trope but the backstory of the characters really step this book up a notch. I love how Laney isn't the "perfect" girl, she has had trauma in her life and suffers from anxiety due to it. The way that the author writes her really makes her real and relatable. She isn't your typical FMC and she's all the more lovable for it. The men also have their own pasts, and Cameron is probably the most damaged of the bunch. I love his story and the lengths that the group goes to for him are incredible. He probably is my favorite out of the three but the other two are just as endearing for other reasons. I love the group dynamic that they have, it is very easy to see them together and they all have their own specific roles to fill in the team. Babushka was a brilliant added character, she really added so much to the story without being overly invasive as well! She is definitely one of those supporting characters that gets under your skin for all the right reasons.
The writing is really well done, it flows very naturally and you do get wrapped up in it. I didn't want to put this book down and I only did because I had to work, other than that it became my world for a short duration. The descriptions really make you feel like you are in the book and the story never seems to lag. I loved all the twists and turns and the plot of the story really was well done.
There are some PTSD, abuse, and anxiety triggers in this book as well as some M/M interaction. This story though is a fantastic read that I would highly recommend to fans of shifter RH. It does have a HEA and there is a promise of another book that'll be another standalone novel in a shared universe.
Like most of the reviews said, this is so tedious to read. Trope had been used so many times. Fmc cried alot and if i have to ever read babushka's broom on every other page again, my god!! I did finished reading it though because im a stubborn bitch.. you might like it but i wont be reading the next book of the series.
Seeking Snow Falls by Jenn D Young is the first book in the Snow Falls Pride series, it's a paranormal reverse harem that is told from multiple points of view and centers on one leading lady and her harem each book. This book was fabulous, I absolutely loved it. The story centers on a very human Laney as she gets lost on the way to meet her best friend Tyla during a snowstorm. She almost freezes to death when she is rescued by three hot shifters who turn out to be her fated mates. The three snow leopard shifters take Laney into their home and into their hearts, showing her what it means to be a mate. However, Laney is on the run from her abusive ex and trouble is not far behind.
Laney has always been alone with only Tyla as her true friend, she's not close with people then to add in an abusive boyfriend Laney has suffered both emotionally and physically. It has left her scared, Laney has anxiety and she suffers panic attacks. However she is not completely broken, Laney is a full-figure woman who is funny, sassy, and learning to be herself again with Connor, Adam, and Cameron there to support her.
The guys are great, they are absolutely devoted to Laney right away, they care for her, protect her, are patient, and understand her PTSD. They show they love her through, actions, loving touches, and reassurances. Connor is the playful alpha who has a Dom side, Adam is the caregiver, while Cameron is the ex-solider who has scares of his own that seem to match Laney in some ways. There were a lot of steamy moments (including a little MM) but it's the moments with family that really get to Laney, she is falling not only for the guys but for the big family that has opened their arms and their hearts for Laney. She has finally found a home and it's touching the way everyone just comes together.
It looks like the year for never reading before shifters for me, this is the first time that I've read about snow leopards and it was interesting to see them, I just wish we had more of the snow leopard shifter culture in the book but the little I got I loved. I also love that there were a variety of supernaturals in the book, I always find a book interesting when there are multiple supes involved, to see their interactions with each other, their histories, and the politics always make for a better book. With each book focusing on a different main female character but still be connected to this same world is gonna be interesting. The best part of this book was the story didn't take the turns that I thought it would. When I thought the author would take one option, she took another and I loved being surprised like that.
Seeking Snow Falls was a fantastic story, full of hardship and heart. I love the touching moments between Laney and her guys and the action scenes were very entertaining. I loved getting to know Laney and her guys, things ended kind of up in the air but not really, it's hard to explain, anyway up next is Tyla, Laney's best friend. I got a good glimpse of Tyla as she came to check on her friend and I got a good idea of her personality. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens in Tyla's book and I'm hoping to see a few familiar faces along the way.
59% “Profound moment. Big night. Blah, blah, blah. Now, we have thirty minutes to get back home. So, let’s hit the road.” “Connor,” Sasha growled, reaching up and popping him on the back of the head. “Damn, what’s with everyone hitting me today?” Connor grumbled as he rubbed the spot where Sasha hit him. “Maybe because you’re a giant man child who can’t keep his mouth shut?” Adam answered from across the room.
Here is where I decide to DNF. This passage sums up everything that annoyed me in this book thus far. 1. Yet again, Connor, acting like a teenager instead of a 35-year-old Alpha. 2. The guys smacking each other on the back of the head. I think I hate it more than what most of the reviewers hated: babushka’s broom (because, y’all, she’s a witch. With a broom. C’mon.) 3. They are leaving family dinner to go claim their mate. Is this the climax? I’m at 59% here and I just feel like another sex scene isn’t going to be the push for me to keep reading. What I’m saying is that I’m bored. Their ‘playful banter’ is annoying. The FMC is endearing to an extent, but overall meh. I love RH, but I think this story would have been better if it was just Cam and Laney. Connor is a tool. Adam is…there too. As others have said: it started out pretty good. You might like it. Maybe it was because I was initially excited that the main characters were all 29+, that I was expecting more mature personalities.

There is something about small towns , the comradeship and the people you meet. They look out for each other an everyone knows each other. Young brings the best things about small town to life with her new series Snow Falls Pride with a paranormal slant.
Lacey is a woman who isn’t going to give up and she is perfect for the guys who stumble on her. She completes them and despite her hesitations, she is pretty willing to change and accept the pride. Yet there is danger lurking and she wants to find that new beginning she dreamt about. A chance to break free from the pain that haunts her.
Young doesn't shy away from the fact that Lacey is a curvy woman. She is proud of the fact and the guys love her curves and show their appreciation in more ways then one. This brings me back to her books as I want real woman getting real loving. And the guys don't disappoint in this fact.
This small town paranormal reverse harem was entertaining and the mystery helps contribute to the overall series fell. Can’t wait to read the next book which will feature another FMC and her harem.
I discovered Jenn D. Young through the Silver Springs universe, and this book has everything I've come to expect from her - a compelling plot, sympathetic characters, a lot of steam and a touch of MM within the harem. Laney is fleeing from an abusive ex, when she gets lost in a snow storm, and rescued by Connor, Adam and Cameron. She comes to terms with her new present fairly quickly, but then discovers that her past is closer than she realised. The book ends with a happy ever after for *this* harem, but also sets up a couple of follow up books as well, which I can't wait to read!
Always love reading Jenn's books as they contain a good amount of relationship dynamics and this book didnt dissapoint plus it had the extra small amount of mm with worked and added to the storey. Laney is escaping her abusive relationship when she gets stranded and almost dies in the snow only to be rescued and brought back to life in more ways than one by Connor, Cameron and Adam. Fantastic twists and turns with plenty of steam this is a stand alone storey but un a world where we will get to meet other characters and their stories going forward and i cant wait tto see what life has install for Tyla in the next book.
This one lands somewhere between scorching hot and heartwarming. It is a great blend of mate feels and smexy shifter group activities.
I have grown to look forward to Jenn's stan-alone stories because they always give me the book escape I need in a perfect bite-sized story.
This one was right up my alley, with three devoted, overprotective snow leopards, although a certain wounded one definitely stole a piece of my heart with that hot cocoa.
And did I mention there is M/M action? No? Well, there is, and that is just the cherry on top of the yummy shifter sundae. ;)
I really got sucked in with this book the storyline, the characters and that heat between them. Plus the crazy twists and that cliffhanger ending leave you fulfilled but also needing to know more. Laney meets Cameron, Connor and Adam when she gets lost and runs out of gas to start this wicked read off. You get to read from the guys pov also to make an even better and give you a more insight into the guys minds too.
Seeking Snow Falls is one of those stories that you just want to curl up and read in one sitting. The setting and characters were well written so it was easy to fall into this story. While there are some darker elements to the story, I really enjoyed reading how Laney finds happiness with her mates. There are many fantastic side characters, a nice dose of steam, and a HEA for this sweet shifter romance. I'm excited to see what happens next in Snow Falls!
Brilliant read. Laney, just has to get away and a visit with her Best friend Tyla is just what the doctor ordered. Unfortunately bad planning and snow storms lead to Laney getting stranded in her car in freezing temperatures. She is found by 3 locals who try to help but not all goes to plan when Laney find out that they are not quite human. Laney must find out what is truly in her heart, especially when all the growling and possessiveness is all to familiar with an abusive ex in her not so distant past, can she get through this. Brilliant read.
This is a great start to this series! It’s intriguing, entertaining and oh so good! Tons of action, plenty of steam, humour And plenty of surprises! A fated mates paranormal reverse harem, shifters, and one hell of a journey, I look forward to more!
This was such a lovely story by Ms Young. It has characters a reader can relate to, enjoy and root for their HEA. It is beautifully written and sweet, and almost over too soon. I really enjoyed this one.
This is one hot steamy book and you know what? I’m totally here for it . So our girl is on a trip to Montana freezing to death and finds out her whole life is about to change. Want to know what happens in this awesome book then read it 😘

I greatly enjoyed this book. Laney gets lost on her way to meet her friend and ends up meeting her mates. She hopes her past will stay there and not interfere in this new relationship. Some interesting twits in the book and great steam. Great first book in the series
I loved this first book in the series! Lacey is a real, curvy woman, and I love watching the big girl get the love. She deserves it! Lots of plot twists and amazing ending! I cant wait to read more set in this world.
A spur on the moment trip to see her best friend doesn't exactly go to plan for Laney, when she ends up in Snow Falls. She's had a lot happen in her past that has left her somewhat fragile but that's all about to change when she meets Cam, Conner, and Adam. There were a few inconsistencies but I don't feel like these detracted from the story too much.
Seeking snow falls. Trigger on abuse/flashbacks/ptsd⚠️
This book pulled me in so fast. I stayed up entirely to late just to finish it. Laney is so relatable. Her character is a survivor and we get to eatch her heal and find love. Something so many long for. It is a beautiful and painful story. The plot is refreshing and kept me on my toes. The family is charismatic and full of warmth. The characters are full of depth.
Laney ends up in snow falls by mistake where she is saved from freezing to death by Cameron Conner and Adam what she doesn't know is they are snow leopards who are also her mates....
I really enjoyed this book which pulled me in from the first page I loved the fact that they all had their own faults and flaws and that they worked through them together, looking forward to tyla's story which I'm sure will include more of Laney her guys and continue part of where this book leaves off.
Potential. The story character types were interesting. The family interplay was endearing at times, especially with babushka. That had a lot of possibility for humor. The actual events of the story, once they got going, were interesting. The drawback was it moved far too quickly without enough development to build tension and concern.
The con...smirking. I could potentially deal with one of the MMC smirking a lot. Having all of them smirk at times. Not so much. It might depend on how one defines the term or interprets it when a male smirks at a female, but it screams superiority and condescension to me. As the MFC has a history of a verbally and physically abusive ex, I cannot reconcile her not feeling incredibly insecure with these smirking men on a continual basis. While she does pull the "why me?" standard in a very minor way, it wasn't nearly as prevalent as it would need to be if the men were continually smirking at her. Didn't like that descriptor at all. I'm not usually one to tell a writer to use a thesaurus or dictionary, but seriously, use a thesaurus or a dictionary to come up with other adjectives. Smug and conceited, which is what a smirk implies, are not endearing qualities for the MMC.
There was a bit of a cliffhanger here as well. I don't typically like that as I feel compelled to keep reading to find out what happens.
The pacing was incredibly slow with regards to figuring out where the FMC Laney's ex was and the greater supernatural world. Most of the action was in the last 20% of the book. Much of the rest of book was taken up by intimate scenes and a stagnant insta-lust/insta-love that didn't progress much since the beginning.
An okay read but not something I'd pick up again. I'll probably try out the next book in the series to see how Tyra's relationship(s) develop. ------ Ratings - abandoned series: #1 Seeking Snow Falls (this book): ★★★☆☆ #2 Storming Snow Falls: ★☆☆☆☆ / DNF
What a wonderful book. I love when a book connects to other series (the Dark Shifters Universe). I enjoy seeing damaged characters grow over the course of a book. Loved that the main shifters in this series are snow leopards instead of the usual wolf. Big cats for the win. Can be read as a standalone.
The most generic PWP I’ve ever read. No world building, each character is assigned a single personality trait (the woman’s is trauma), and the author mentions the men’s grandmother beating them with a broom almost as often there are poorly written sex scenes.
I wanted very badly to like this book. I went into it with high hopes. They all crumbled pretty quickly, however. I don't hate insta-lust/love on principle. Sometimes, it is done well, sometimes not. It would have been fine here if the book had enough other development to accompany it. But the lust/love is instant, and there is very little further development in the book, which made the insta-lust/love just one more underdevelopment. It's the one more that is at issue here and is with most of my complaints.
Most of what I turned out not to like about this book I disliked because of the cluster it is part of, rather than a problem by itself. Here are some examples. Laney is constantly crying. I mean constantly! Everything makes her cry—happy, sad, scared, panicking, sympathy, empathy, acceptance, rejection, everything! I am not exaggerating when I say I think a count of crying-related words (tears, sobbing, crying, etc.) would average out to one per page—AT LEAST—if I were able to count them. I don't mind crying, but by 55%, I was literally rolling my eyes and exclaiming out loud, "Oh My God, again!? "
To go with the crying, there is a pretty thin line between an author writing a female character with some trauma and room for growth and flat-out infantilizing that character. This book went with infantilization. All of the descriptors of Laney are childlike. Visualize this character for me. There's the crying. She curls up on the men's chests with her fist curled under her chin. She sits up and sleepily rubs her eyes. She never laughs; she giggles. When they get in vehicles, the men always buckle her seat belt for her. They often put their chin on top of her head (because she is so much smaller) and kiss her forehead. She is constantly falling asleep or waking up. They put her to bed repeatedly and often even get her ready for bed (like one would a child at nap time). What does the character in your head look like, a 29-year-old woman or a child?
On a side note, female characters constantly being put to bed is also a pet peeve for me. Because it so often simply serves the purpose of putting the toy on the shelf when the men-folk are busy. It shows precisely how much of an object a female character is. Not in this scene? Put the toy away. From the reader's perspective, she literally has no consciousness when not in the presence of the men.
And all of this childlikeness doesn't even address her lack of adult decision-making abilities. She has panic attacks at the drop of a hat. She almost freezes to death in her car while parked in front of a heated building. How many people would freeze to death before breaking a window to crawl into the heat? A person can apologize and pay for the damages later. Or be rescued by the police, who show up when the alarm goes off. Either way, survival is literally 6 feet away, and she never even considers it because she does not have adult mental facilities.
Which makes the explicit sex scenes feel jarring. I'm not making any moral or prudish objection, not even to the child-likeness of the character juxtaposed with sex. It's just that the sexplicit sex felt out of place when handed a child-like heroine. It felt like a plotting disconnect.
The book also needs more editing to catch all the wrong words. The mistakes aren't even all homophones. Most are simply close but not quite right words—widely used when wildly is what is meant, for example.
The book is pretty formulaic. There is nothing new here. But people (myself included) read so many such books because we enjoy the formula. This means what I so disliked here was the content itself, and most of that is personal preference (or peeves) rather than outright quality issues. Plus, it ends on a cliffhanger, which wouldn't be an issue except that it is very clearly labeled as a standalone.
I did appreciate that Laney is a plus-sized character and that there was a pre-existing sexual relationship within the trio of mates that persisted even once Laney is introduced to the dynamic. And the cover is pretty. So, I think my last word is that this is probably great for the right reader. I'm just not that reader. I'm really not the right reader.
Seeking Snow Falls Snow Falls Pride, Book 1 By: Jenn D. Young Narrated by: Bridget Bordeaux, Jake Bordeaux Series: The Snow Falls Pride, Book 1
This is a fabulous paranormal shifter romance novel and an amazing start to a new series. Jenn D. Young is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, she created a fascinating story with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The characters are also fascinating, and easy to relate to, connect with and care about. I loved that there are various paranormal beings introduced and incorporated in this book, different breeds of shifters, magical beings and witchery. Laney was on her way to visit her friend, Tyla, in Montana but not only got caught up in a storm but got lost to, topping off her trouble is no cell signal and she is about to run out of gas. She finds a gas station, but it is not open, so she bundles up and plans to sleep in her car, but it is so cold she just turns numb and that is how they find and rescued her. Connor, Cameron “Cam” and Adam rushed her inside to get her warm, and they soon realize they found their mate. Connor is the alpha of the triad, and Cam and Adam are his betas. They welcome her to Snow Falls, a place that Laney knew nothing about and was in for a world of surprises. I adored the three guys, each had their own personality, and there was a great camaraderie between them. Cam is probably my favorite, he has been thru the most, and he understood what Laney was going thru the most. The other two were just as amazing, but in different ways. Also loved their Babushka, her meddling, though with love and good intentions. The small-town feel was great too, as is the world building, which I am sure will continue as the series goes on. There is never a dull moment in this wonderfully plotted story, it has the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, twists and turns, some thrilling and suspenseful moment and some steamy romance, reverse harem style with some MM loving Jenn D. Young, thank you for this amazing story and the wild and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Bridget and Jake Bordeaux did an amazing job bringing these characters, giving each their own distinct voice, accents included, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. Their portrayal of each character was spot on and they were believable in every role they played. Jake Bordeaux performed the roles of the three lead males perfectly, grasping every side of their personality, and his Russian was just fabulous, as was the demeanors he chose for the leads. Bridget Bordeaux was just as fabulous as Laney. Both were great performing the roles of all the secondary and support characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to, their duet performance enhances this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.
