In search of a happy ending after the events of Ghost Ship, Veronica, and her son, Mateo move to a historic national park nestled in San Diego. What they find is a new chapter of terror.
As remote as their location with a decommissioned lighthouse is, there are two unknown beings. Fashioned like uncanny children, they watch from the shadows—still, silent, and unblinking.
Who are they? No—what are they? Only an examination into the past can reveal the truth, but can Veronica uncover it before these "children" force their way in?
From bestselling author, Belle Zimet comes the fourth installment in the exciting Urban Legends Series.
Omg!!! From the "maws of midnight" (I just loved that) to "when I pass - he will know. He sees ghosts you dumb bit@h." This book just holds you in thrall. I love the back and forth of the timeline...building and WOW what I didn't even see coming! The Black-Eyed Children is a must read for horror lovers...Thank you again Belle for keeping me up all nigh!
She’s done i again. Left my jaw hanging. I sometimes skim when reading, but never one was I tempted while reading this. Her use of showing the story instead of telling gives me chills. Definitely a must read.
Very intense and kinda scary! I've enjoyed this series immensely so far. This one had a fantastic storyline. The characters were interesting. I'm looking forward to the next book, which I already downloaded. Hope it's another scary read!!!!
This spooked me out genuinely because demon children? Yikes! Also there was a twist that was genuinely surprising! I enjoyed it and can’t wait to finish the anthology series!
The humor that weaves its way through the narrative is my favorite consistent element in this series, and this book does not disappoint. The recurring characters with engaging three-dimensional attributes, interesting backgrounds, and emotional connections are a comfort throughout. There is time jumping for historical context, creepy crawly evil hellishness, the writing is richly textured, and witty dialogue abounds. Then there is charming sexy "Roger" to lead us all astray. This book is a thrilling and fun escape - beginning to end. The Author recommends reading the previous book "Ghost Ship" first, but I find "The Black-Eyed Children" plenty entertaining as a standalone.
I really liked this entry. I must have, because I read it in less than 24 hours. Both the historical timeline and the present one were really engaging, and it was interesting to see how they played off of one another. The children were fricking scary. This legend has always freaked me out, and this certainly didn't help. Lol. I'm always shocked at how funny these books are. I don't think they are considered comedy or anything, but there is a good dose of it to break up the tragic and scary stuff. Really looking forward to the next one! Def recommend.
I have never heard of this urban legend so was anxious to start reading. It was kinda slow until the plot twist was revealed by which I was wowed by. I wish there was more of an explanation of how the black-eyed children came to be before entering Adas life. I question as to what exactly their goal was and if they will come back.
I swear, these just get better and better. This one was the scariest, and I just loved the historical timeline. Great characters, as always. I laughed, I cried, and I gagged lol. Those kids, tho! I highly recommend it.
I just love this series so much. This one was phenomenal. Romantic one minute and creepy the next. I never saw the twist coming. I really enjoyed it. I will never stop recommending this series of books.
This was the scariest of the series! The gingerbread cookies were the most terrifying thing ever, I can picture them in my head still, and I’m not entirely happy about it!
