This book is an amazing resource for parents. Written by a clinical psychologist, it addresses trauma in a practical, reader-friendly manner that allows parents to fully appreciate important topics. This book addresses what trauma is and how to tell if your child has experienced trauma, helps parents to identify behaviors that might be linked to trauma, and ways to help your child cope with the trauma/manage those behaviors. It also provides guidance as to when professional help might be needed. I liked the anecdotes that provided helpful examples of situations that parents regularly encounter and how to manage them effectively. I also appreciate that the author recognizes the important role that parents play in helping children recover from trauma. I found that to be very empowering!
With all of the issues that children have faced over the past few years, this is a must read for any parent!
