Rate this book
"So much good and so much bad are mixed together in the church of God. It is an amazing puzzle that the divine, precious, saving grace of God can dwell together with so much corruption, hypocrisy, and iniquity." - Jonathan Edwards Jonathan Edwards, 1702-1758, was one of America’s finest preachers. However, the challenges presented by his writing style have made his works difficult for today’s readers to attain. In this edition, Bangley modernizes selections of Edwards’ Religious Affections, Narrative of Surprising Conversations, sermons, journals, autobiography, and correspondence. With striking clarity, this new collection reveals the wisdom of one of America’s greatest religious thinkers.

Awakening will convict, exhort, comfort, and assure. It will also humble the reader if the reader takes any of it to heart. This is a classic for a good reason, and deserves a spot on any Christian’s bookshelf. I’ll be keeping it on mine to re-read periodically, and to pass on to loved ones as they desire, and after I’m gone.
