Melody of Flame

Rate this book
Dancing with fire is only dangerous if you’re scared.

Sorcha Kelly lives her life on the edges of society, allowing her whims to take her where they will, feasting on new experiences as though she is at a sumptuous buffet. But one electrifying night with an intoxicating stranger leaves Sorcha with more than she bargained for – the power to make fire at will and an insatiable desire to find the man who upended her carefree life.

Torin has never planned to take a wife. As part of the Royal Court of the Fae, he’s neatly escaped the confines of marriage by refusing to allow any woman to get too close. And then there was Sorcha. Fiercely beautiful, mercurial and passionate, Torin shocked himself by claiming her as his own the first night they met.

Now, the Fire Fae have staged a revolt, wreaking havoc across Ireland and throwing the natural world out of balance. Torin must choose – find his fated mate – or save Ireland from impending doom?

I got further into this series and discovered that it was really almost an exact repeat of the first story. Felt a little too similar - which is a bummer becuase I loved the writing style of the first book. On to the next!

Same. Book. Different. Title.
Seriously, the plot between the two books is the same. The author didn't even bother getting new supporting characters, still using Bianca and Seamus for comic relief and the relatable pair. And the leading lady and her fated mate of unrequited love took center stage. Same bad guys. Same conflict. Blah! At least try!

Uhm, Deja vu, anyone?

This book was the story, the plot, AND the characters from book 1 rewritten with new names and different powers and called book 2.

Reluctantly falling in love? Check.
Hard upbringing, so they left as soon as they could? Check.
Purchased their own “home” that's not a home but is a mobile “escape” they can call their own (aka van/boat)? Check.
Secret powers? Check.
Surprising parentage they didn't know about? Check.
Fae Princess? Yuuuup.

Our supporting characters are even the exact same people from book 1.

Also, to end this rant (read: review), the way Torin speaks is so ridiculous, cheesy, and fake that I found it hard to like his character. I most definitely rolled my eyes a whole bunch at the nonsensical romantic garbage he was spewing.

I said in my review for book 1 that Bianca was the best part of the book, and I loved her as comedic relief. But I feel like I can't even say that for this one because I've already been there and done that, and to do it again? She just didn't feel genuine this time around.

This was such a fun read! What I love about Tricia O’Malley’s stories is how easy and comfortable they are! They’re the sort of books you want to read by the fire in a cottage in the middle of nowhere

The characters were all super loveable and the story was adventure filled and full of cute little romance moments.

O'Malley has delivered another great magical and thrilling story in book two of the series. Torin and Sorcha's story is about unconditional love. Their fire really shone through between them. Their story is full of drama and action that really builds at a faster pace the latter half of the book. I have already started the next book in the series.

What a book! What a writer! Tricia O’Malley never disappoints. Sorcha and Toriń’s love story has melted my heart. Their fire shone through and I found myself with tears in my eyes when Sorcha finally claimed Torin as her mate. We’ve revisited Gracie’s Cove and some of their inhabitants and even Fiona’s ghost appeared and and a few more characters from the Wild Irish series. Everything blending seamlessly. I can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out. Thank you Tricia O’Malley for giving us such gifts. Oh and speaking of gifts thank you for the great bonus chapter you gifted us your readers. I loved it! And let’s not forget the gorgeous cover art.

Yet another lovely story by Tricia O'Malley. She found a formula that works and keeps to it. While that might be repetitive for some, I find her books to be nice, comfy reads where the MCs fall in love, there's a bit of spice, and the good guys win the day. Sorcha and Torin make a fiery couple and Bianca and Seamus are as fun as always.

Great book. Can read in a day. Following on from 1st book, but could read as stand alone.
I'm looking forward to the next one.

Tricia O'Malley has done it again with this latest entry into her mystical world of Fae, magic and somewhat ordinary people with extraordinary powers - some might call them witchy. In this book the Domnua (dark Fae) are battling against the Domnula (light Fae). There are elemental Fae; fire earth, water and air.

A young woman meets a man at a festival where they end up together for the night but in the morning he's gone. She's left wondering if it was all a dream until fire sparks from her fingertips. Then she meets a strange man at a thrift store who hands her a staff and says it's a gift. And so begins Sorcha's adventure.

This was a very good book and I enjoyed it so very much. I love the characters and the crossover with the folks from Mystic Cove. This world and these characters Tricia O'Malley has created is one I enjoy visiting again and again.

honestly, idk why i continue to read books in this series

also, fae and the real world.. they don't mix. it's so weird to read about magick, fire, fae, fated mates, and boom.. "ipad" in the same chapter.

These books have yet to disappoint me. I loved the first book so much with Nolan and Imogen, I just had to delve back into the world to check where we go from there.

I love the way the romance develops between Sorcha and Torin. A night of passion and fire... then a slow build. An adorable love conquers all vibe.

We're given lots of action and adventure and drama, but not to the point that it overwhelms the story. These books put you in a good place 😍 they're comforting and easy to read, though hard to put down! Almost like fairy tales when you were a child. I also enjoyed the fact that while we have new main characters, former characters are worked into the story that brings a comforting familiarity to it.

I have recommended the previous book numerous times, and now I will have to add this one to the list! Love them so much! 💖

I didn't like this one quite as much as I enjoyed the first book in the series. I was happy to be back in the world, but I so craved a continuation of Nolan and Imogen's story. I personally found Torin and Sorcha to be annoying main characters. Bianca and Seamus carried this story. I'd love to read a backstory for them!

I will say that the intense battle scenes, especially toward the end were well written. I also enjoyed the plot twists that I didn't see coming and the tie-ins to the previous book and next book in the series. I love how the main character of the next book is introduced at the end of the book that came before. I also enjoy that we are getting different perspectives from main characters who belong to the different elemental factions of the fae realm.

Flames of Love

Torin and Sorcha tell a tale of fierce independence and overcoming fear to live a life worth living.

Sorcha, ever the outsider, trusted Torin, only to be left alone. Now, he must find a way to reveal his heart to her - and risk everything he’s ever known to do it.

This story follows a rollercoaster of emotions, all while attempting to save the Fae realm. O’Malley intricately weaves an otherwordly tale while telling Torin and Sorcha’s love story. It is wonderfully written and full of action and drama, and touched with humor. This is a wonderful second book to the series.

I am looking forward to the next book.

This is book 2 of The Wildsong Series. It was a good and short read. I would recommend the series.

Sorcha Kelly is a nomad. She lives life as a carefree performer. Torin is part of the Royal Fae Court. He’s committed his life to them and doesn’t want to be married. When they meet one night, something happens he never expected. Was it fate and should he stay or run?

Sorcha has the control over fire and uses it to enhance her performance. When it goes horribly wrong, Torin is there. Can they come to an understanding and work together or will the Dark Fae succeed in causing issues for the Fire Fae?

Not as good as the first book in the series. It’s like the same story with a couple of different characters, which was disappointing. At the ending of the first book it seemed like the next book would be a continuation with everyone kind of continuing the fight, instead Imogen shows up for like a sentence and the rest of it is just the same story as the first, down to the FMC being a secret Fae princess. And Bianca has GOT to stop saying weird things like “that’s shaemus, but he’s mine so don’t get any idea,” like ok Sorcha was already declared the fated mate of Torin by the point, why do you keep telling people to stay away from your man? Just kind of off putting.

I don't think Trisha can write a bad book. Every time I pick one up I am drawn into these amazing worlds she creates from the familiar world around us with her special twist that leaves wishing it were real. This book 2 in the Elemental Far series and just as good as all the other Irish based novels. Sorcha is fantastic; creative, strong willed, knows how to be true herself. Torin, royal fae and in charge of the fire elementals, badass fighter. I loved reading their love story and seeing past favorite characters and places. Cannot wait for more.

Fated!

Sasha has never fit in. Not in her family , not in her school, not anywhere. So, she escaped into a fantasy life. She became a dancer, an entertaining beautiful spectacle! And she lived thru her dreams. In her dream world someone loved her, only her. In her dreams she was beautiful and fierce.
But were they dreams? Did someone actually exist that could live her. Looking at her life, Sasha "knew" it was just and escapism dream. But was it? Did Fate have more in store for Sasha.

Fire

Sorcha never felt like she belonged in her family. The youngest of seven daughters, she always felt like the black sheep. She couldn’t wait to grow up and strike out on her own.

Sorcha was very independent. She loved to perform. She would travel from place to place and entertain people with her dancing. One night she meets a handsome stranger named Torin. They spend an amazing night together but the next morning Torin is gone, but he leaves behind a magical gift which Sorcha does not know how to control.

Another winner

This book started a little slow for my taste. Initially I really could not relate or like Sorcha. Actually I felt as if Torn couldn't do anything
right. Towards the end, when the team went to Sorcha family home everything fell in place. It was like everything fell into place for Sorcha at the river. Since I don't want to provide you the story, I will just say that this story is worth reading and moves the series on in a delightful way. Yay Bianca and Seamus!

Loving this series! It's like ACOTAR but with a clearer plot point and cleaner love scenes...if that's your thing. What I really appreciated was the story line was not "plug and play"- O'Malley gives us a completely unique set of circumstances with Sorcha and Torin and does not use any tropes from her first book to continue this story. It is creative, real, magical and romantic and she still continues the overarching world of the Fae and its themes. Highly recommend and cant wait for books three and four to arrive in the mail!

First, thank you to the Nerd Fam and Tricia OMalley for providing me with this book to review.

Melody of Flame is probably my favorite book in the Wildsong Series (so far). The concept of a one night stand with your fated mate is so compelling. Torin and Sorcha have great banter and push and pull.

In terms of spice, like the first installment, this has probably one or two peppers out of five!

Overall, I loved this book and am excited to see the direction Chorus of Ashes takes!

Another great read by Tricia O'Malley.

Finding your other half especially for the Fae can be so very hard, if they are human and don't believe that there are any others beyond themselves can really make it worse. Acceptance can mean wonderful things but when the dark side is trying to cause problems and some are dying both of human and others then balance needs to be brought back and the light needs to prevail.

If you haven't read the first book you need to for you to understand this whole series.

I am reading these books back to back. I just can not stop myself.

I have always loved the good verses bad with the good winning.

These characters are rich with attitude, finding family (doesn't always mean blood). The trials that the main characters has to go through is similar to real people. The ups and downs, ugliness, sweet, and sometimes the bitter.

3.5 stars. Love the easy read, fast pace, strong female MC, and side character Bianca. But the quickness or lack of depth in some of the critical scenes leaves me dumbfounded. Sorcha and Torin are our heroes. Fire is our elemental fae subject matter magic. Character development is good, but this same treatment is not done with some scenes and some scene transitions. This won’t keep me away from book 3 and 4 though, at least not yet.

I seriously hope these interwoven series’ never stop.. Torin and Sorcha are pure fire and were absolutely perfect for each other.

This was a magickal adventure that could only be in Ireland. The Fea and Sorcha defeat the evil ones but not without some adventure first. When you're done reading this you do believe. Amazing, Incredible and I can't wait for the next one If you don't have this book run out and get it right now never is there a more exciting read and you don't want to miss this one.

A fun read, great characters, I especially enjoyed the last third of the book, which was a bit faster paced, and to have Sorcha being a performer, with her specific background and desire to enjoy life. This book depicts a vivid vision of the realm of the fae, and the writing with all the backstory + dynamic among the characters were great throughout.

Beautiful story of Love

I love the fact that Torin comes to love Sorcha unconditionally. Having never experienced this kind of love from her family, she needed this. I am enraptured with the strong characters in Tricia's book and other like this and look forward to reading more.

Thrilling second installment to a magnificent series

Magical, thrilling, edge-of-your-seat action. Tricia O’Malley delivers once again. The hardest part is putting the book DOWN.
Highly recommend to anyone who loves fantasy mixed with adventure and romance. Loved all the repeating and crossover characters from other series.
