Scared Stiff!

Small backstory:

Four years have gone by since things took a wrong turn for Brandon and his friends at the abandoned asylum and Brandon along with his parents moved away to another state. Brandon has tried to move on mentally as he has been meeting with a psychologist (Joseph) that deals in dreams to help him through what he experienced at the abandoned asylum as Brandon still has nightmares from what he went through.

Brandon does have a new lease on life though as he now has new friends including a girl named Lily and he has tried to move on into a new direction. But then Brandon starts slowly slipping back into having nightmares where the Mangler still haunts and walks through his dreams. The past might be in the past but it is starting to invade his nightmares once again and Brandon along with Joseph will have to figure out how to lay the Mangler to rest once and for all!

That is about all I can give out on a small backstory and if you want to know more then go read this book plus the first book as well to familiarize yourself with the Mangler and the abandoned asylum!

Thoughts:

Wow! I loved this book as so much happens in this story that I could hardly put it down! The first part of the book started out a little slow but after the 35% mark the story started gaining speed to the point that I read quite a bit of it within a few hours. I felt this book was really scary and I was reading the first book along with this book which made it all even more scary as the creepiness and terror of the Mangler goes into a full scary meter haunting!

Though I felt that this book has some "Nightmare on Elm Street" vibes as the story mostly takes place in nightmares of the main character Brandon. But there is just so much to love about this book as the author slowly builds up the suspense and terror then drags you deep into this story to the point you feel you are in your own nightmare with the Mangler!

The descriptive details of the story and what takes place with the main character as he goes head to head with the scary villain of the Mangler just captured me and kept me pinned to my seat! I have found out too that the story is based on a real asylum that is named Saint Vincent's and it was abandoned so that makes the story even more creepier! Looking forward to reading more books by this author and I have learned there is a series the author wrote which features the villain the Mangler that I need to hunt down and read at some point. Giving this book five "Night Terror Nightmares" stars!

Get ready for extreme Nightmares with this one!!! Brandon, The Mangler and Joseph Rickettes are back and ready for round 2!!

Check out my review video; here: https://youtu.be/mB4Zml98d2c

When you first crack this horror novel open, we find out that Mary Tompkins is the Mangler's 8th victim, and yes the HORROR starts out on page 1 and never lets up! When Brandon and his friends decide to ride their bikes to the old abandoned Saint Vincent Hospital to see if it is really haunted; they meet someone who will change their lives forever! This man is Big Jake, a cigar smoking and wise man who is currently a security guard for the old asylum and tries to warn the boys to get out and never come back! Do they listen? Nope.

Author A. Lopez, Jr. wrote the novella in 2014 then wrote the novel "Night Dreams" which is sort of the prequel to meeting Dr. Joseph Rickettes.....and let me tell you what; Lopez' writings WILL give you nightmares!!! Believe me.....

With this book, being the FULL length novel of both parts 1 and 2; it continues the HORRORs that you are intoduced to in 'Floor Four; A Novella of Horror' and it is SCARY!!!

When I had found out that the author had written this being based on an actual St. Vincent's Asylum that is still to this day, (though it has been demolished, burned, and demolished again) considered very haunted, I thought: Why would you want to go into this building? NOT ME....then I read this most terrifying book of a serial killer called The Mangler; AKA David Henry Coleman, and he is nothing to laugh at. His weapons of choice: rusty heavy chains and a HUGE sickle, and he is very good at using them both!

The scenes of horror in this book are so well written that it reminded me so much of when I first saw an old horror movie "The Fifth Floor" that was released in 1978 and it still leaves the creep factor to this day.

With "Part 2: Brandons Final Nightmare" being added to the first part, it takes place 4 years later, and the boys are all in high school getting ready to graduate when they decide to have a party in the old hospital on the anniversary night of the Manglers death, and it is soon to be a night they regret and will never forget for the rest of their lives! This book has the most disturbing scenes of ghosts, hauntings, slaughter scenes using that sickle I described, disturbing dream sequences and even a haunted wheelchair like the one that we remember from "The Changeling" and it is a book you will not forget. Lopez knows how to scare the hell out of you, and he does it VERY well!! HIGHLY recommended, and don't forget to also read his book "Night Dreams" which takes place before Brandon.......another extremely scary novel of Horror!

I loved Floor Four Part 1 but this book, omg! I had waited so long to find out where this story would take Brandon and boy did I find out! Amazingly written. This one gave me chills. Do yourself a favor and pickup Part 1 if you haven’t read it yet then hold on when you get to Part 2.

Part one was a quick and action-packed read. So much happened and fast that it was very enjoyable. Part two was a bit drawn out as it was quit a bit larger than part one with much less action in my opinion. That being said, I still really enjoyed the book as a whole. When I was reading (meaning there went a few days where I didn't read due to being busy) the second part went quite quick as well despite the points mentioned above. I just expected more from the book as a whole and didn't feel scared as much as I'd wished.
