We are familiar with the term ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ which translates to ‘The Guest is God’
Well, the Buddha’s last words were ‘Appo Depo Bhava,’ which translates to ‘be a light unto yourself’
‘Be the Best Version of Yourself’ aptly holds up these golden words and helps the readers realize certain truths to life, which are right in front of us, yet we fail to notice them.
So what is the book all about?
As is evident from the name, SRINIVART talks about how one can be the best version of themselves.
Interestingly, the book is named after one of the author’s paintings. Each chapter has small anecdotes that are expanded upon with real life examples.
The author gives a positive spin, a different outlook to certain things in life that hold us back.
“Life begins only when fear ends”
“Only Death is certain”
Taking inspiration from Buddhism and its teachings the author talks about life lessons that we can all benefit from. We are more than our brains and what society asks us to be.
There is something that we often ignore, our minds. The human mind is fickle, it keeps on oscillating between the past and the future. We all know, but how many of us do realize this and act upon it?
The author points out something that I have related to several times in my short and rather limited experiences. He writes:
"Don't wait for the perfect decision. In life, there can never be perfect decisions. Take a decision and make it perfect."
Why should you read this book?
Read it to realize, accept, and implement things that help you practice mindfulness and improve your life.
Do take care, that it talks about life, and not lifestyle.
