Cannon West left his hockey playing days behind to care for his dying wife but has since found success on the other side of the bench. Now, as the youngest head coach in league history, he’s hoping to lead the Pittsburgh Titans to a winning season. The last thing he’s looking for is a relationship, but life sometimes takes us in another direction.
The Pittsburgh Titans are still working to move on from the tragic plane crash that forever changed the landscape of their organization. Having lost my wife, I know all about grief and the guilt of survival which makes me uniquely equipped to take this team to the next level. From the very first time I stepped inside the Titans’ arena, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be.
New to town, I’m still establishing my routine, but I have the most important aspect under control—the coffee shop where I stop on my way to the arena every morning. A strong cup of java and the gorgeous manager who I can’t help but chat up is quickly becoming my favorite way to start the day. But no matter how much I enjoy the blush that stains Ava Cavanaugh’s cheeks with my admittedly awkward attempt at flirting, I know it will never be more than brazen banter with a new friend. My job consumes almost all my time, and I know firsthand what that level of commitment can do to a relationship.
That doesn’t mean I’m not open to some fun. My career comes first, but Ava understands my boundaries. The only problem is that once I give into her temptation, the rules I set for myself become blurred, and my mixed signals hurt Ava—the one thing I promised I wouldn’t do. I’ve put myself in what seems to be an untenable situation, but I’ve faced those before. Now I need to find the strength to move past my fears, or risk losing my second chance at love with the woman who has stolen my heart.

Cannon West left playing hockey to care for his dying wife. After his high school sweetheart passed away nine years ago, he took time for himself to grieve. Then his path took him in another direction and he's the new head coach of the Pittsburgh Titans. After a tragic plane crash the Titans organization was rocked to its core. Cannon was given this newly built team, and hoped to lead them to a winning season. He's had a unique journey, but feels he's right where he's supposed to be. He's big news in hockey since he's the youngest head coach in the professional league. His work is his top priority, and he's too busy for a relationship. Then he enters the local coffee shop where the beautiful barista instantly captures his attention. He enjoys chatting with her each day when he comes in for his cup of coffee. It's all innocent flirting until one night changes everything. Lines get blurred, and things are suddenly complicated with feelings. Will he get a second chance at love, or will he let fear get in the way?
Cannon by Sawyer Bennett is the sixth book in the Pittsburgh Titans series. It's a friends to lovers, sports romance where opposites attract and we get a story full of chemistry and fabulous banter. I have been looking forward to Cannon's book, and loved getting his HEA. I love this series and can't wait for more! <333
Cannon's book was one that I was really looking forward to because not only was he the youngest head coach in Hockey but he was also a widower so I was curious on how Sawyer Bennett would give him his second chance at a Happily Ever After and I must say she didn't disappoint...not that I thought she would, because come on if you've read her books you know they're stellar.
Cannon visits his local coffee shop and flirts with one of the workers, Ava, each morning. I'd venture to say that she is the reason he goes there but the man does like his java, LOL, he finally asks her out and they have a great time, he's very straightforward with letting her know that his job comes before everything else but he would like to see her when he's able to. All is right in the world until the next morning when Ava's world turns upside down once again.
I loved the development of Ava and Cannon's relationship, their chemistry was amazing and his dirty talking gave Drake a run for his money. What I didn't like was his mother-in-law or is it his former mother-in-law? Anyway she was nasty when she had no business being that way towards Cannon and it really got my hackles up. This just added to the angst in the story and I personally didn't feel that it was needed, especially since there was so much going on in Ava's life already.
I listened to the audiobook version of this book and narrators Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright did a wonderful job with bringing Cannon and Ava's story to life.
I would recommend this book to those that enjoy STEAMY Contemporary Romances, Sports Romances, Finding Love After Loss Romances, or Dirty Talking Men.
I really enjoyed this one but wished it was longer! Lots to like about this one… —not much drama between the H/h —H/h act in a mature way —widower of 9 years who was able to process his grief and move ahead —a flirty meet cute between H/h —youngest head coach in NHL history —plucky heroine who craved her independence —H was unexpectedly a sex machine in bed —no huge misunderstandings leading to breakup —H has moment of fear/stupidity about relationship but doesn’t wait forever to correct his mistake —characters from previous books make appearances —author’s knowledge of hockey is real —H/h have incredible sexual stamina —incredibly easy, fast paced read
Looking forward to the next book in the series (Hendrix) 4 1/2 stars
Cannon and Ava made so damn happy that I listened to their story way after my bedtime last night because I just was not stopping till the end!
Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright did a very good job bringing this story to life for me and although I haven't read it to make a final judgement, I'm confident in stating that if given the choice of listening or reading, I'd totally recommend this listening experience!

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Sawyer Bennett comes a new story in her Pittsburgh Titans series…Preorder CANNON now:
This one was so cute for most of the book. I really liked how Cannon and Ava met, like their initial flirting and how they went on to build something more. I liked that Cannon was honest with how his job took over his life, yet towards the end that same reason because a weapon against Ava. She was right to call him out on things and step away. It was really too bad too, because these 2 were great for each other, there the give support and have fun, let alone the smoking hot sex! I was glad that Cannon was able to see the light when Baden spoke him, to really make him see what he was doing, which gave Cannon the chance to win back Ava. It was nice to see how things ended for these 2, happy and their relationship very healthy.

Coach Cannon hasn't dated much since his wife died nine years ago. He doesn't have time - life as a coach takes up even more time than life as a professional hockey player. But then he meets the lovely Ava in his favorite coffee shop and they talk and flirt their way to a first date. After which she is fired because she overslept. Cannon feels guilty and wants to help. But Ava came to town to make it on her own - without the help of her family...
Let the fun times begin...

Adorable. A cute little age gap romance with a widower who might finally be ready for something serious again. Even though he thinks he doesn't have time for such things. But Ava is hopefully changing his mind...
I really liked reading this. It was very cute, funny, very sexy. A bit too much hockey for my tastes. No idea why I even read hockey romances! 🤣 I liked that Cannon's widower status didn't make this book über-sad. It was handled very nicely. I don't like the guy on the cover. Not my type at all. He looks like the son of a central american drug lord who is trying to go legit as a Miami night club owner. But that's just me.
Can we please get that Sawyer Bennett Hockey Netflix series now??
CANNON was an adorable + very sexy + sweet love story in the Pittsburgh hockey world! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Cannon - this one is MINE! (the one IN the book not the one ON the book!)
Cannon is book 6 of the Pittsburgh Titans series by Sawyer Bennett. It is a contemporary romance told from both points of view with a happy ending.
WHAT TO EXPECT: ✔️ second chance at love ✔️ sports
Almost a decade ago, Cannon West left his hockey career to care for his dying wife. Now though, he’s thriving as the NHL’s youngest head coach.
Although he’s past the grief of losing his wife, he knows his career takes too much of his time to be open to love, but some fun with the cute coffee shop manager? That he can manage.
Ava Cavanaugh understands the confines of their relationship, but as they spend time together and get to know each other, Cannon starts erasing the boundaries and realizes he needs to get over his reservations or lose his second chance at love.
When in doubt of what to read next, I open up a book I pick up a book by one of my favorite authors. I always enjoy Sawyer’s stories that combine fun and touching, steamy and tender.
Both Cannon and Ava were great characters by themselves and as a couple. He had some issues to work through, but he’s overall thoughtful and caring with a delicious touch of alpha. Ava had some trust issues of her own, but was understanding and determined.
Since I’m a fan of the series, I LOVED how this book took place almost at the same time as Drake’s did and valued having getting appearances by characters in past books. I also liked the Titan’s rebuilding overall plot and can’t wait to read the next book!
The performance by Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright was wonderful. They brought Cannon and Ava to life.
★ I received an audio ARC of this title from the author. The excerpts are from that copy. I am voluntarily reviewing this title ★See all my book edits on Instagram
Swoony Perfection. Cannon is swoony perfection. This book was the book I did not know I needed. The story off Cannon West, youngest head coach in NHL History stepping into the Pittsburgh Titians head coaching position after their season of tremendous loss the previous year. Cannon’s heroine Ava is the determined and independent type of heroine that makes a romance book. Together these two set the pages on fire with their flirty banter and combustible chemistry.
Cannon is a bit of a mixed bag of signals and honestly, I liked that about him. I liked his flirty nature. I liked that he had boundaries, but they kept moving. I think it showed his growth. I think he showed his humanity and how sometimes even when we think we are firm on a stance the right person can move you towards things you didn't know you wanted or needed. I think this is a relatable dilemma of wanting to take care of someone and setting boundaries all at the same time.
I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of the audio of this book and it is spectacular. Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright capture the essence of these characters, creating a delightful listening experience. I cannot recommend this audiobook enough.
Cannon is a heartwarming story of love, sacrifice, and redemption. Cannon West, a former hockey player, gives up his career to care for his wife who is suffering from terminal cancer. Following a period of grief and collection, his life takes a new turn when he becomes the coach of the Pittsburgh Titans that had lost most of its members in a horrific plane crash.
The story is well crafted, and the author does a great job of creating a realistic portrayal of the challenges faced by loss and survival. Cannon's decision to leave his career to take care of his wife is a brave one, and his struggle to cope with the emotional challenges is depicted with sensitivity and compassion.
The burgeoning relationship between Cannon and Ava Cavanaugh, the barista manager, is also well-developed. Ava is a hard-working and intelligent woman who is working in a coffee shop until she can realise her dream career. Cannon, in his awkward flirting way, sees her potential and encourages her to pursue her dreams, and their relationship blossoms into something beautiful.
It's a great tribute to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of love to overcome even the most difficult challenges. Inspiring and uplifting for sure.
Copy gratefully received from the author, which I was happy to review
We are on a bit of a hamster wheel here with this story - if you have read the previous 5, you know the team back story. Cannon is interesting in that he is the coach and not a player so you get that perspective. #6 is the same old: insta-lust, insta-sex, eventual happy ever after.
Cannon West is the new head coach. This is his second chance in hockey, as he left his career the first time around to care for his ailing wife. Now that he is back in the game, he wants to prove that he can move past his own grief to help rebuild the Titans.
Ava Cavanaugh is rebuilding her own life after an ex left her high and dry. Making ends meet means giving her all to her job and putting in as much effort as she can to prove her worth.
Cannon has boundaries he isn’t willing to cross because he isn’t ready for a relationship and Ava is fine with the boundaries he’s set. She isn’t really looking for anything serious either. But as they proceed, the lines start to blur and Cannon is the one breaking his own rules.
I thought this was a really smooth read and it moved in a direction that had me rooting for them. There were a few times I wanted to shake Cannon, but he has some pretty good people around him that were able to do it for me. Ava has a solid head on her shoulders, and though her plans are thrown out of whack a few times throughout the book by the men in her life, she finds a way to work through and make fall back plans on the fly. I loved her caring nature, as well as the backbone she showed when she needed to.
This was a fun return to the Pittsburgh Titans. As the team moves further from the tragedy that brought most of them to the team, they are settling and really gelling as a team. I loved Cannon’s coaching and to see the game from a different perspective was a nice change.
I was lucky enough to hear the audio of this, and the narrators did a great job bringing these characters to life.
The sixth book in the Pittsburgh Titans series, this is a sweet, sexy, swoony and heartfelt second-chance-at-love story for new Titans coach, Cannon.
Cannon gave up his NHL playing career to care for his dying wife. Ten years later, and he’s been given the opportunity of a lifetime to coach the rebuilding Pittsburgh Titans. Romance is the last thing on his mind, but a flirtatious attraction to his local barista, Ava, leads to a sizzling hot night together, and so much more when they continue seeing each other and he finds himself actually feeling something for somebody again.
Though Canon has strict rules about his priorities, and the time he’s able to devote to his private life, he and Ava fall together effortlessly. It’s sweet, and so damn sexy, and though he never wanted a relationship, that’s exactly where he finds himself, and it’s so amazing! It’s natural and easy, he is such a sweetheart but has a filthy mouth, and he’s SO freaking hot, and he is beautifully thoughtful, caring and protective towards Ava. She has just come out of an awful relationship herself, and is busy rebuilding her life. She is in no way a doormat, but she understands Cannon’s boundaries, still embracing everything that is happening between them.
It's a beautiful romance, sweet and swoony, and their passion for each other is all consuming. Neither of them can stop themselves from falling. But Cannon knows first-hand the devastating toll that his job can take on relationships. And as their boundaries become more and more blurred, they’ll have to figure out what they want from each other, and whether they’re ready to put themselves out there again. Can Cannon truly have it all the second time around?
It’s a gorgeous journey for them, and I really enjoyed watching these two come together. We also get to see lots of the rest of the team, and I enjoyed catching up with couples from the previous books, as well as seeing glimpses of characters who still have books to come.
I think what Cannon has went through in his past was sad about losing his wife, however some things were brought to light on that aspect which was unexpected. I honestly didn't care for Ava too much. I'm not sure if she was the right type of person for Cannon. IMO. Pittsburgh Titans & Arizona Vengeance match up! I would have love more coaching scenes though.
Narrators did a great job.
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This one definitely was emotional. And might be one of my favorites in the series.

I loved the development of Ava and Cannon's relationship, their chemistry was fire and you could feel it immediately. Cannon's mouth might rival that of Drake's. I loved seeing Cannon work through some of his past with Ava by his side. They complimented each other perfectly. The narrators did a fantastic job of making the story come to lfe and had me hooked from the beginning.
Overall: 4 Spice: 3
Tropes: - Hockey Romance - Friends to Lovers - Age Gap - Second Chance at Love
Cannon West is the head coach of the Pittsburgh Titans and hopes to bring them to a winning season after losing all but three members of the team to a deadly plane crash. He is looking for a relationship but sometimes it is just what he needs. Ava Cavanaugh is trying to make it after she ended things with her cheating boyfriend and he gets her fired from her job and then kicks her out of their shared apartment. When she meets Cannon at a coffee shop, they hit it off from the start, their chemistry is off the charts. Cannon explains his boundaries and Ava understands but as they grow closer those lines begin to blur. As Cannon tries to move forward, his ex-mother-in-law wants to stay in the past to keep his wife alive. Cannon can't move forward with Ava because he feels that history will repeat itself. So when Ava says they are through, Cannon can't stop thinking about her and he realizes that he is in love with Ava and he must win her back. Will Ava give him another chance? I love this whole series, and it seems the coaches or team owners seem to steal my heart the most. Cannon's past broke my heart but Ava will heal him if he gives her the chance. If you haven't started this series yet, what are you waiting for? Each book is about a different couple and I would recommend reading them in order, you don't have to but it would make more sense. **I received a free copy of this book to read and review and this is my honest opinion**
Sawyer Bennett weaves tales that you can’t help but look forward to the next book. Sometimes we meet both the hero and the heroine and sometimes we don’t. In this case, we have met Cannon West, but have not yet met his lady, Ava Cavanaugh.
Cannon is one of those quiet characters that comes in and you don’t get to know a lot. You learn the basics. A widower that stepped away from hockey when his wife got sick. He is a coach that has moved through the ranks to become the youngest head coach for the Titans. But you learn so much more in this book.
One thing that Sawyer Bennett always does right for me is the fact that her characters are real people who have real conversations. Now don’t get me wrong, there are characters that make missteps and miscommunications. But these two characters go above and beyond what we usually get. Cannon lives his life with boundaries. He feels that he needs those boundaries (read the book to find out just why) and when he enters into this new relationship with Ava, he is clear about those boundaries.
Ava accepts and revels in the choices that these two make together. That is until the lines are blurred, and decisions are made, and hearts end up broken. When I review a Sawyer Bennett book, I want to shot from the rooftops how amazing it is and give you all the facts and good stuff. But you truly need to read this book to get lost in the emotion. Get lost in the transformation of the fact that sometimes the boundaries one sets for themselves keeps them from what they truly need and want.
We get some great news about a fan favorite player, and little snippets in players from books past, and players form books yet to come. This series just keeps getting better and better. This is one series that I almost wish I waited until the very end to read because I want to binge it so badly.
If you are an audio listener; it is superb! I eye ball read this book, and then listened to the audio. This is my first Stephen Dexter book, but his cadence and tone worked perfectly with for Cannon. Mackenzie Cartwright brings Ava to life in the perfect way.

Audio Narration by: Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright Audio Listen Rating: 5/5 Stars
I’m having a really hard time rating Cannon, the 6th book in Sawyer Bennett’s Pittsburgh Titans series. If I’m rating the book on the sex scenes, more like 4 stars, I mean these two are going at it ALL THE TIME starting at the beginning of the book. No slow burn here. But there really wasn’t much of a storyline. Ava is making it on her own after a boyfriend she followed to Pittsburgh cheated on her, got her fired from her job, and kicked her out of their apartment all within 24 hours. She’s proud and doesn’t want to go running back to her parents. Cannon is traumatized by relationship with his deceased wife who was not understanding of his hockey career. Both fell hard for each other. The whole book is them spending time together. They fell hard fast and at the end there was a 48 hour break. I just felt like their could have been more? Not my favorite of Sawyer Bennett’s books.
I feel let down by this one. It could have been a much stronger plot with both characters having such rich backstories. But I didn't feel the chemistry and it just seemed to be a lot of sex all at once. Cannon doesn't have enough time for Ava, and she's OK with that until she's not. I know there's more, but not much. It just seemed weak for all the potential I saw at first. And how 'bout giving us more revenge on the ex-boyfriend. That would have at least added a bit of interest. Overall, I give this a meh rating. Two stars for "this was OK".
Note: listened to this as an audiobook. The narrators were good. Cannon's voice was a tad too wooden sounding, but nothing notable to complain about.
Rating: 2.6 Okay. Didn't like or dislike. I found parts of the story boring (way too many sexy times and not enough story). Also, the connection between Cannon and Ava lacked any chemistry on the emotional level.
And we have another great addition to the series in general (since we do get to hear about the Vengeance and Cold Fury from time to time ;)). It was a fun, quick and very smexy read that was low on angst and just enough drama to keep me turning the pages until the very end.
I adored Ava and Cannon..well, Ava just a tinsy bit more than Cannon, but overall, I loved them both. They are both good people with great hearts, but are all about boundaries ~ in one way or another. But those boundaries come crashing down the more they are together, and I have to say that it was a lot of fun to watch them become more when they were really trying to. They definitely have their own issues to work through, but with a little nudge here and there from their friends, they figure things out. The road block in their journey wasn’t a surprise, but I will say that I totally approve of how it was moved out of their way.
While there aren’t any huge triggers, there is a sensitive situation that is brought up and I think it was handled well, it’s all perspective. And if you’ve read any of my reviews of this author's Hockey series, you know I love the family dynamic. Whether it’s catching up with those that have fallen to cupid’s arrow in their own book or getting to know those who haven’t yet and may in the future…it makes me all kinds of happy and this baby is chock full of that goodness. This book does intersect with Drake and Brienne’s book, but can be read as a standalone. But now, we wait for Hendrix and see what woman will bring him to his knees!

Cannon (Pittsburgh Titans, #6) by Sawyer Bennett 4 stars M/F Romance I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
Cannon is a young new hockey head coach and he loves his job. While he has a painful past, he knows that he made the right choice in giving up his career as a player when his wife became ill. He has never truly regretted that decision. Cannon is also one to be compassionate and empathetic towards his former mother-in-law, who is a horrible, icky character, in my opinion. I wanted to yell at her for him.
Ava comes from a wealthy family who wants her to return to their family business. But, Ava knows that going back means hearing all of the "I told you so's" and she's not ready to admit defeat yet.
When Ava and Cannon meet, it's like the movie, The Holiday, where you learn of the "meet cute". I love how Ava and Cannon met. So fun and adorable and REAL. I love that their relationship seemed so real.
The boundaries are set and then both Ava and Cannon have to walk the line. But, when feelings come in to play and lives are intertwined, it's hard to keep those boundaries.
Bennett writes in a way that makes her characters very relatable and you want to yell at them when they are making bonehead decisions and cheer them on when they figure it out. You'll be yelling and cheering throughout this book like the hockey fans do for their team.
I love Cannon and Ava’s story. It has a sweetness to it but with moments of intensity that cause you can’t help having a strong emotional response too. Eek.
As I traveled into this telling I can only love these characters more. They have a humanness that makes them real but with such heart I only want to know more. It doesn’t hurt that they are in the Pittsburgh Titan world.
If you have read the other books in this series, you know what I am talking about. If not, let me say that the backstory of this series is a devastating airplane crash which has not only caused extreme loss but also a major revamping of this hockey team. Sob.
This relationship has a back and forth element which keeps me guessing. Yikes Did I mention it was intense?! I know I did but it is warranted repeating. My heart gets a little melty (is that a word?) thinking about it.
Our couple is sexy, interesting, and unique. They have their own stories to tell which makes the journey of them coming together even more beautiful. I definitely recommend this book. It is my favorite in this series so far though I can’t wait to see what the future has in store. Hee hee.
Cannon West - head coach of the newly rebuilt Pittsburgh Titan’s after tragedy struck, has such a positive outlook on life you can’t help but love him.
Ava Cavanaugh - independent coffee barista gal that is just trying to find her path in life, that you admire her strong will.
When Cannon and Ava’s worlds collide, their attraction is explosive. Cannon has just the right amount of dominance, but is still so down-to-earth and kind that is the perfect concoction that Ava didn’t realize she needed.
I loved the quick attraction, slow fall that they had for one another. Boundaries are set, but often times are erased as they become integral parts of one another’s daily lives.
If you’re looking for a dirty talker with a heart of gold and an independently fierce spitfire, this story is for you. They show you that a relationship isn’t always sunshine’s and roses but that it takes hard work, dedication, communication, and compromise to make it all work. They’re my newest favorite couple of the Pittsburgh Titan’s series.
Cannon left hockey for a time to care for his terminally ill wife. Now a widower for almost a decade, he is also the youngest head coach in the NHL. A friendly flirtation with a barista turns into more, even as he cautions her about his demanding career and his desire to keep things casual. Ava lost more than her boyfriend when her ex dumped her. She lost her home, her job, and a hefty dose of self-confidence. A no-strings affair with Cannon is just the boost she needs. The more time they spent together the more Cannon's boundaries began to blur. This series continues to be such a hit for me. I loved the development of Ava's character and the growth she showed as the story progressed. I was frustrated by Cannon's mixed signals and cheered for Ava when she called him on it and drew a hard line. (Go Ava!) The inclusion of the other players and previous couples was a big plus and made a good story even better.
Cannon was the sixth book in the Pittsburg Titans series by Sawyer Bennett. I have loved this series and continue to love Bennett’s style.
Cannon was the youngest coach in the NHL and rebuilding a team that lost a massive amount of players and staff to tragedy. I’ve enjoyed the development. Ava was a coffee barista while she was determining the next steps in her life. The two met and gelled.
For some reason Cannon took me longer to read than most Bennett books, but I still enjoyed it. The angst was fairly low and the plot was enjoyable but fairly single dimensional. I would have enjoyed a little more depth, especially with Ava’s family. Bennett also included some of the characters from the series that we’ve come to love. I always enjoy seeing their development. Next up is Hendrix and I can’t wait.
4.25☆ I really loved listening to Cannon! I flew through this read and didn't want to stop. I really enjoyed both Cannon and Ava. I love their connection and really liked how Cannon just couldn't get enough Ava. Their chemistry was really sweet and sexy. I really liked both of them individually and as a couple. They have such a strong connection that it almost seems effortless in a sense. I really enjoyed seeing both of them grow a part of a couple and dealing with what their past relationships have done to them. It was also a lot of fun to see the other Titans characters, and really cool to see a head coach story (which also means more Baden!) Another great Titans read!! *I chose to review an early copy*
I just loved this book. Everything went together just right. Fun story. Great characters. Good pacing. Just the right amount of drama. It was definitely worth the wait on the library hold list. lol I don't even like sports, and I was so into this one (and this whole series). In fact, this series has been great. The premise was exceptionally unique and has made each of the stories have that extra special piece that's missing from a lot of these romance tropes. Yeah, the widower story comes up here and there, and yes, the I got cheated on story is there too. But combined with the hockey and the special position Cannon is in with the team made this excellent. Absolutely, amazingly five stars right there.
I really enjoyed this story! Other than one moment of stupid from the hero and an awful (former) MIL, it was just a really nice story. Well narrated by Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright - both new to me narrators.
