Mel Dau (Melvin’s Daughter) was born in Vicenza, Italy but raised in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She is the baby girl and only girl of three. She has always had a love for books beginning with the Baby Sitter’s Club, R.L. Stine, and Christopher Pike. She dabbled in writing as she grew up but never took it as seriously as she should have.
Mel Dau graduated from from Wando High School, then later matriculated to Benedict College (BSW) and Webster University (MHRM). She is a mother of a teenage daughter, a HR Professional, and a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Her love for Urban Literature did not arrive until Mid-2016. Reading over 900 books from 2016 to 2017, she was obsessed with reading--an obsession that helped her cope with her father’s illness and death. In March of 2018, she decided to finally come from behind the wall and submit a short story which resulted in her first Book, Khiaere and Phy: A Charleston Love Story being published under Queens of Lit Presents. Under Queens of Lit Presents, she successfully published 15 titles that were all debuted in the top fifty on Amazon Top 100.
In May of 2020, she was signed to her new publisher B. Love Publications where she continues her growth as an author. Her purpose as an author is to provide her readers’ with her E³ formula, Entertain, Encourage & Educate. She achieved her first #1 Bestseller with her Erotica title, Pet The Kitty. In August of 2020 she founded Mel Dau Publications, LLC to pursue self-published projects. Penning in a lane all her own, her Informational Dramas fulfills her purpose with every release. Her overall desire is to use her fiction catalog to help change at least one person’s non-fiction reality.
One thing Mel Dau gon’ do is give us a couple to fall in love with. In this case, she gave us two. I absolutely loved the close bond between Phoebe, Jess, Elliot, and Axel and the friendship they shared. The sisterhood and brotherhood between them were like no other. These couples were truly bonded by passion and love. I was jumping up and down with joy when Jessica announced she was pregnant. After what she went through with her ex, she deserved some happiness. The introduction of Carmen and her drama was a pleasant surprise. But, the circumstances surrounding her marriage has earned her a temporary spot on my shyt list. Considering who her daddy and brother was, there was no reason for Carmen to even marry Andrew. They could’ve easily given her what she wanted. So, Elliot was well within his rights to be angry with her. A Binding Love was a really good read. I just hated that it ended so quickly. There’s no way the author’s gon’ slip Carmen into the storyline like that and not give us a follow-up on all that drama between her, Andrew, and the mystery man from New York. Nahhhhh, I know Sis not gon’ do us like that. I’ll be impatiently waiting on Carmen’s story.
WE NEEDS A FILE 0 FOLLOW-UP, A SPIN-OFF, SOMETHING😳👀🤔😂😂😂
Per usual Queen Mel Dau did not come to play, Oh-kay! From beginning to end I was hooked, wondering what's gonna happen next. I freakin loved both couples equally and couldn't get enough of them. Bay-be we need a back story on Carmen, her racist a** soon to be ex-husband Andrew and the ninja up in Harlem she was spreading her legs for(Andrew words not mine)😳👀😂😂😂. Elliott & Phoebe💕. Phoebe tried to play like she didn't want Elliott as brad as he wanted her when they first met, but that was short lived. These two were most definitely my kind of freaky, Oh-kay😜. They took Janet Jackson song Anytime, Anyplace I don't care who's around and ran with it😂. And their friends were definitely friend goals, shielding them while they get it on🤦🏾. Axel & Jessica💕. Due to her fu**boy of an ex Jess curved the ish out of Axel for the longest. Once he finally got her to agree to a movie date they were inseparable. Her ex was a mitch a** ninja for that ish he pulled and I'm glad Axel beat that a**. I truly enjoyed both of their journeys to their HEA💕 IT'S MOST DEFINITELY A MUST READ FOR ME🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This was a quick read. I wish it went more in depth into how the couples relation ships developed, but I loved every character. Hope we heat more from each of them
Alright now Mel! I loved these characters and the close bonds of friendship that they shared. Phoebe and Jess were a whole handful, that only Elliot and Axel could handle! The love between these two couples was strong, and nothing could tear them apart! The introduction of Carmen was a nice surprise, but boy did she bring the drama! Hated that it ended so quickly, and imma need more, because Andrew is about to act the hell up! 👍👍👍
Whew the passion, love, desire, and loyalty flowing between Elliot and my girl Phoebe is one for the books. Everyone desires a relationship like that, not to mention the sisterhood and brotherhood with Jessica and Axel. I think I want Elliot more than Axel though lol. I hope that Carmen gets her own story because that last page had my mouth open wondering what's the true story behind Carmen and Andrew's marriage...
Title: A Binding Love Author: Mel Dau Publisher: Mel Dau Publications Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review: "A Binding Love" by Mel Dau
My Assessment:
"A Binding Love" was a sweet story with love being there for these two couples...Elliot, Phoebe and Jessica, and Axel. These two couples had it all from 'love, respect, and flaming intimacy.' 'A Binding Love' was between these two couples.
And it looked like all was going very well for these couples...then drama comes in with Carmen...the sister who is divorcing her husband, Andrew, and he didn't seem to be taking it well. So I guess this story will be left as a cliffhanger. Hopefully, we will be able to pick up the rest of the story later to see how the story will all come out.
As usual, that was too good, yet too short. Mel Dau does it again with this hitter.
I absolutely loved Elliot and Phoebe's relationship. Two crazy good attorneys whom let Love be there bind. Then to add a daughter to the mix was so heartwarming. The friendships that they have with Axel and Jessica are so great as well. It's all love and family.
I'm glad Axel and Jessica are together. The way her ex did her was so horrible, then to add insult to injury and do her how he did in the club was even more of a confirmation that he was despicable. I really can't wait for more on these two.
Ummm, the whole Carmen and Andrew situation was...WOW 😳! I'm looking forward to this😏.
Another Mel Dau banger. Highly recommend. Great read.
I loved the two couples featured in this story. Phoebe and Elliott were a sweet, crazy and passionate married couple that wanted the same thing for their two best friends. Axel wanted Jessica and was ready to know down the wall she had around her heart to prove it to her. Jessica was extremely happy that while making potato salad she decided to give Axel a chance leading her into an amazing love and her HEA. Now I am very curious as to what is going on with Carmen at the end of the story.
This was a well written fast paced book that left me with my mouth hanging open
I enjoyed the way the author moved us through time with such ease and creativity. Introducing us to two couples that were truly bound by passion and Love🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Now as I said this was a well written fast pace book and a lot takes place ( yes the book ends in a cliff hanger ) I just need to know the will be a second book that will tell what happens to Carmen. Not to mention waiting for a gender reveal ☺️.
This is my frustration read of a Me?l Day book, so I had to adjust to her. writing style. I almost didn't finish the book . I am glad I did it was heartwarming, family oriented and full of love. The characters were professional hard working honest people who took pride in helping their community. The story is a an interesting look at the ups and downs of family life and the many intrusions that can turn your world upside down. This book is very graphic and should be read by very mature people. (18 years and up)
“A Binding Love, was a great short read. However, I wasn’t prepared for the blatant disrespectfulness. Honestly, I needed a trigger warning, cookie & an ibuprofen‼️Because I know my eyes & ears were deceiving me🥴‼️Did that M$&? 🤬 call Jess a “black 🐩”, twice⁉️…excuse me, while a bust a cap in my Kindle app via my iPhone with a bullet intended specifically for Andrew’s white privileged racist azz😡‼️ ….”Symel, popped Andrew dead in his 💩.”🤷🏾♀️🤭….Good, that little harlem shake, rattle & roll hopefully left a lasting impression ⁉️
Two for one fiery love stories from Mel Dau is like butter cream icing on a cupcake. Elliot and Axel paired with fiesty boss women like Phoebe and Jessica lit the pages of A Binding Love up brighter than the Empire State building. Pages fillled with love, respect, and flaming intimacy will pull you in until the very last page. Oh there's a cliffhanger! Love it!
These couples were crazy! Elliott and Phoebe and there get it in wherever relationship! I love it! Axel eventually wore Jessica down until she became his!! Carmen will be well protected because her brothers and father won't have it any other way! Great job, Mel! Hope there's a book about Carmen.
I love these characters and the bond they have with each other! Elliot and Axel couldn’t be any closer than blood brothers with their bond and Phe and Jess are similarly closer than blood sisters. Right away I fell in love with the way El and Phe rocked. I was amused by Jess playing coy for Axel. But Carmen!!! That story I can’t wait to read!
Man Mel Dau never disappoints. Everything she pens just pull me in from the gate and keeps hold of my attention until the end, then leaves me wanting more. I know she's writing a spin off of this. I loved reading the connection that the friends/family had. The love between them was pure and heartwarming!
This was a really good book. Jessica and Phoebe have been best friends since College more like sisters. Axel and Elliot have been best friends more like brothers since childhood. Successful in their careers the only thing left is love. Phoebe and Elliott then Jessica and Axel it's all love and it's beautiful. Has always as an absolute pleasure reading your books 🥰.
I loved all the good stuff that happened for Phoebe/Elliot and Jessica/Axel respectively...But know I'm excited for Carmen's story now cause it's about to be on for real! My mouth is still open because of what came out of her husband's mouth and the teaser of drama that is surely coming following an ending like such...
Reminder to self, self if a tale is less than 100 pages think long and hard before reading. Okay. This was a good story; it held my attention and was enjoyable. The abrupt ending threw me off; I was waiting for more stories when it stopped.
Omg Mel Dau has done it again and again!! This book was so good I didn’t put it down until the end!!! I The love that Elliot and Phoebe had was awesome!! Axel and Jess love was also beautiful! That ending with Carmen, got me Anxiously waiting on the next book!!
Nothing like a little drama to lead to more love family and of course love. I know there is a sequel in the works because I have questions to be answered. Like ….. who truly buys their first rock type questions….
Everything that Mel Dau writes is absolutely fantastic. No two characters, stories are ever the same . I loved the couples in A Binding Love and hope this isn’t the last we see of them.
Really?! I need the next book like now!! I know they’ll have Carmens front back and sides. I’m happy Axel and Jess got their wires uncrossed. Black love and support from family is beautiful. But real talk, when is the next book coming??
Mel women I'm not playing with you. I know you working on making it make sense. I know you gonna blow up white boys spot. Tik Tok I am waiting on the sequel. This was straight.
I would definitely want a back story on Carmen and her husband and maybe a spin off. I didn’t like the ending as it ended without notice. I love each couples relationship as it seems like genuine love.
This was a great read the the friend and family dynamics was awesome these couples loved each other from the depths of there souls but why did it end abruptly and if there’s a book 2 I need it now
