Dragging

So I was a huge fan of the first book and even read the in-between novella while waiting for this book. The story and premise was crazy but I love crazy so I was excited to dive back into this story. But Jesus now the story is just DRAGGING, I’m talking chapter after chapter on the same exact tone, nothing new happening, no highs to pair with the low, just low over and over. I don’t know what the author wanted to accomplish with this, keeping the tone as despair for SO long just makes it feel like there’s no pay off in reading. At the 56% point I had to start skimming, and then eventually I just skipped to the end because god. Now there’s like 3 more books left and I’m just not seeing how the story is going to stay interesting for that much longer…I’ve always had trouble finishing KG Reuss series’ because the story never knows when to stop. I don’t think I’m going to continue this series, especially with an unremarkable FMC. All the usual elements I love in dark romance isn’t here, it’s not fun or thrilling or a guilty pleasure (even though it tries to be), it’s just sad so I don’t see the point. 1 star.

This was as great as the first, but I'll start with an annoyance so it's out of the way... This book is not about ASHES. It's more about ASYLUM than anything else —followed by Stitches

Asylum

(yes I've already stated this at least thrice in the comments, but it's annoying, I need to know if there is a pattern to the title convention).

This insane guy(s), unexpectedly and immensely grew on me during this book. He's so freaking interesting I'm now wondering how the others can match this.

ASYLUM: Deep in my mind was a terrifying place. It was where all my demons hid. Where plans were made. Where I decided who lived and who died.
Usually, I let them live just because I had a hard-on for making people scream. Was that a kink? Fuck it. It was mine.
I needed to focus. Always a fucking issue with me. The only time I could keep my shit sorted was when I was asshole deep in blood"

ASYLUM-SETH-SIRENA: I couldn't recall much past that. Everything within my body just felt so... heavy.
Seth.
"Asylum. I'm not Seth. Seth isn't here, firefly. We don't like it when you mix us up. Him for more obvious reasons than me."
I frowned. I had no idea what he was talking about.
"Seth isn't the one who beat you with a shovel and tried to kill you. That was me. Asylum. Seth would never harm a hair on your head."

His paranormal prophecies, voices and whatever else is wrong with him, is so enthralling!
ASYLUM-SIN: "Asylum tilted his head, his attention focused on Sin. "I know what you're capable of, Sinclair. And I know the date and time of your fall. A Tuesday at one-oh-eight in the morning. Your name will be called, and you'll fall. The ropes will hurt, my friend. And I'll be there to set you free."
Sin said nothing as he took a step back."

ASYLUM-ASHES: "Good. I'm glad you're listening" Asylum smiled, "I promise only good things will happen now. At least for us. The rest of the world will burn... right, Ashes?" He cocked his head at me, his brows crinkled, "You'll be summoned soon. A creature. A Fox. Ah, what a web when you help to kill him. Interesting..."

ASYLUM-SIN: "Seth? Why? Do you like him more than me? I'd understand if you said yes, most people do tend to like him more. They dont know what he's capable of. He's the right hand of Death."
"Then who are you?" Sin raised his brows at me.
"Me? I'm the left hand."
"You asked me why I don't tell the truth. Why don't you?"
"I don't need to tell truths. I show them. Expect the unexpected with us. We like to be fun like that."

This book is darker, with many more trigger warnings than the first so check those.

One thing that is surely hit or miss here is that there is a lot more plot that spice here. I kinda loved that, but I know some won't, so you are warned.

In this book our hearts are broken for Stitches even more than Sirena, but the character dept Asylum had... Basically he's all the stars I am giving this book.

ASSHOLE-STITCHES:"Freedom is only a slice away, Malachi. Cut the demons out of your life. Be free, Be happy. Submit to me. Prove you want your sanity, and I'll give you a life you never dreamed possible. Where you don't have to think anymore. Where you aren't haunted. Where you aren't sad."
Tears leaked out of my eyes as I stared down at the blade he'd given me. He was asking me to cut parts of my skin off."

Don't get me wrong, I love all of the watchers, even that little weasel that's Sin, but if I didn't have a favorite before it was probably causes I was waiting for Asylum/Seth.
"Everyone in the world has a gift. Some are talkers. Some are doers. Us? We're seers. Invaders. The monsters they don't want you to know about. We slink through the shadows. We listen. We watch. We wait. We know... but it wasn't always so. It's something that slowly became us."

Now pur RH has grown from 4 to 5, or is it really 6? 😏🤫🪦

I also keep getting told there are a lot of clues/details to try an notice, hidden in plain sight and connected with the other series. While I'm not right now trying to hard to do that, I absolutely love this, as it will make re-reads extra special, don't you think?

The fucking Mirage cliffy! We kind of know now, but we don't know for sure! I absolutely love that. I'm as crazy as Sirena apparently.

"Who the fuck is Mirage? Church demanded.
I didn't know anyone named Mirage. None of us did.
"You know Mirage. Mirage is one thing outwardly but something else completely inwardly. Mirage wants revenge."
"But you don't know who Mirage is?" Sin asked. "Some fucking Prophet."

THAT BOOK ENDING

Some other AI pics:

I really love this one. I don't know where the AI came up with that cord, but I can somehow find a symbolist/surreal meaning for it... Like the mysterious connection between Seth and Asylum? Well it won't be the strangest thing we get from him for sure
Asylum

I'm telling you, getting good forked eyeballs done with AI is really frustrating. All those pesky gore filters getting in the way... 😅 So yeah let's pretend the surrealist touch expands on that part of the composition too
Asylum

Like above, the weirdness mixed with the safety blocks and the randomness of AI kinda came together here. He's a tad too old and gives Norman Bates vibes, but it's kinda fitting, isn't it? That eyeball explosion looks good enough to eat. Kinda.
Asylum

Pre-read
I've read mixed reviews about this one, but I really need it to be good (for me) 😭, so I'll keep trusting Rachel.

DNF.
First of all, why this one doesn’t start when they find her? In my unlimited kindle you can’t see that scene. Second, why write a whole book about Isabella. Couldn’t care less, also I skipped the book and the scene wasn’t there.

Third. SPOILERS.
I hate when they rape guys. It’s a trigger I cannot stand. I don’t know why. But seeing it twice in a book of romance completely hated it, and reading reviews, it happens more times. Why put such an awful thing when torture can accomplish the same. I hate rape and for either man or woman. And this book in the 30% a read happened three times. What Church did can also be considered rape.

So I decided not to finish what started a compelling series. I hate when this happens in Reverse Harem. It’s like authors have an idea of what happens in the first book and then they just wing it!

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I can’t put my finger on exactly why I don’t like this book. Triggers are not a problem for me, and in this book, there are many.

I think maybe it’s because it feels like the entire story up until this point is a high point (or at least feels like one). Usually, the plot in a story builds but in this story, it’s one traumatic experience followed by another and there’s never a time when the plot comes down so the characters can regroup before the next plot point. It felt sort of exhausting and trauma, followed by trauma, followed by more trauma. I’m wrung out.

What a disappointment.

For context, I gave Church and Bells 4 and 4.5 stars respectively. I advocated for this series to my friends because I thought it was so compelling. But this entry and its direction -or lack thereof- was just a mess. This truly felt like the author knew what moment the book should end with, and everything leading up to it was just hopeless filler; by 50% I was skimming haaaard.

Church had ended with Sirena trapped in a coffin with Seth/Asylum. So to start Ashes with her having already been found and in medical care was a questionable choice. The majority of this book focuses on the Watchers and how their inability to reach Sirena impacts them, and I feel like the minor glimpse we got into how they found her didn't do justice to the turmoil they dealt with.

Frankly, this book was just repetitive and dull. The quality from the first two books did not continue into this one and I went from rooting for Sirena and her guys to wondering why the hell anyone likes each other. Ashes, who was my favourite of the group in the first book, became an empty husk of a character. None of these men stood apart from each other; if I forgot the chapter title, I couldn't tell whose perspective I was reading unless there was mention of Ashes' lighter or Seth's inner voices.

There was also a rapid escalation in the tone that felt like whiplash. We knew Sully was a questionable, likely perverted man. But the things he was taking part in? How did we go from him swatting someone with a ruler to that? We also knew that Jerry used to beat Sirena, but I don't recall anything about him going further than that, and yet now he's signing her up for some truly revolting, public activity sorta scenes? I know the guy wasn't an upstanding citizen but damn.

I truly do not know how the first two books and this one were written by the same person, and I have no desire to continue with this series.

This book felt like an extension of the first one and not in the best way. I wanted Siren to get her HEA. She endured so much and she didn’t deserve it. Then I start reading this book and my entire heart shattered. I didn’t think things could get worse for her and it felt like the people who were supposed to protect her were nowhere to be found.

This story is definitely a slow burn. Not just in romance but throughout everything. When they brought Church’s dad into the mix and the weird doctors I taped out. Home girl still wasn’t talking. The boys didn’t have their sh*t together. The plot felt like it was messy and all over the place. DNF at 60%

My Rating: 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Series Rating: TBD

We Have
✅ OTT Possessive MMC's
✅ RH Romance
✅ An addition to the already unhinged characters (like HOW?)
✅ This shit just went REALLY Fucking Dark
✅ Another Epic Fucking cliffhanger 😒😒 (FU K.G. Reuss)
✅ Still an Unfinished Series

So I thought last book was fucked up right? Yea well fuck all the way off to one of thee most evil Authors I've come across. Like seriously. I was hooked on this series book one, then fucking ate this entire book up in less than 12 hours. Like COME ONE!

Shit went down in this book. I mean ... fuck... This gutted me. When I thought shit couldn't get worse, the author was like nah bitch - watch this... The way my jaw hit the floor - the freaking plot twists and some of the most unexpected shit ever . My head is spinning and I think I only called one fucking thing in this book. Maybe... I can't believe I had as many feels as I had... ugh. UGGGHHHHH - I want to spell them all out because I went into this book hating a character, then omg the feels, and now I seriously don't know what to do.... I'm scared though - I see a little light at the end of the tunnel and This Author is mean... She doesn't play nice at all and I know ... I KNOW this is far from done...

Anywho - I said it last book - check the trigger warnings. Cause this really gets bad folks (whatever judge ya momma - I'm LOVING this shit) and gets very intense. This book left me with a shit ton more questions than answers. This book was also suuuuuper low on he spice scale but I barely noticed.. yep me.. Can you fucking believe it? I have so many questions -- The bad guy (s), this can't be over - The new guy? - what the FUCK! Aaaaand the ending, are you fucking kidding me?

Now that I knew what I was dealing with - this book is a solid 4 stars. I'm anxious for what's to come and I'm obviously diving into the next book. Buuuuut I know I'm gonna be pissed because I'm sure there will be another ridiculous cliffhanger... pray for my sanity - ok well don't cause I like it here. Just pray that I come out of this no more crazy than I already am... yea - that seems like a good compromise 😏😏 - At least I'll have one more after the next before I have a meltdown.. lol

I have read hundreds of Kindle books and have never left a review on any. This is my very first and feel I need to put my thoughts/opinion out there in the universe on this series, thus far.

Loved the first book so much and was eagerly anticipating Ashes. And it did not fail to deliver. As mentioned by the Author and many others, pay attention to the trigger warnings, this book is dark and some things were difficult to read. I sometimes had to take a break and then come back to it. Some parts of the book that I was more uncomfortable with, I skimmed, so as to be better able to take it in without it hitting so hard. My heart bled for Stitches. And for sure, I really hope Sully and Everett get theirs in the worst way by the Watchers and Asylum.

Regarding Cadence, while she brought some light and humor to the book I don’t feel she really did anything other than bicker and poke at the Watchers. And at what point is that banter and fighting, flirting? Hopefully her presence going forward - now that Sirena is out of the med ward - will be a buffer for Sirena with the likes of the other mean girls. Just hoping for no blurred lines there with her and the guys.

***Possible Spoiler*** On the subject of Seth/Asylum…I’m thinking they are twins. I think Asylum is exactly who he has said and Seth is Mirage. Really looking forward to seeing how that comes out.

I didn’t read Bells before this one, I actually read it after. I don’t know if it really added to the story for me because I already felt I understood Sin’s hang-ups from the 1st book and this one. If anything, it may have added more insight into Everett Church and what a villain he is, and I loathe him. It’s clear some bad things have been done to Church too growing up under such evil…the brief mention of his relationship with his Mom.

I have no hang ups over any of the Watchers, I love them all!

Anyway, all this to say, this series is amazing and I keep going back to read the 1st and this one and re-reading key pieces or picking up new things. Really hoping the next book, Stitches is it before September. But I suppose better the have a story well fleshed out than rushed. Either way, I can’t wait!

I was so looking forward to this book. Desperate for the next instalment in the series but I’m so disappointed.
I love a good dark romance but this is just abuse on abuse on abuse.
No light to level out the dark.
It feels like a filler, but a really awful, twisted, cruel one.
I don’t understand the need for this level of abuse. It doesn’t add anything.
You also need contrast in a good story and this had none.

3.5 ⭐️
OKAY so here’s the thing. i am really enjoying the series but this book felt a little flat to me.
most of the book was spent following the boys without sirena because she’s stuck in the care ward, if it was like 25% or even just less than half it would be more bearable but it felt dragged on.
also, we saw A LOT happen to stitches and my heart felt for him 😭 poor baby is traumatized.
i didn’t care for her sister addition… like why is she staying in that house? why didn’t she just sleep in Sirenas old dorm? especially because she wasn’t even staying with her harem before….. idk i just really don’t care for how close she’s getting with them even though they mention that they don’t see her that way. i don’t care to read how everyone of them think “she’s beautiful and fire-y” like ok????? who gives af what you think about her
also I LIKE SETH/ASYLUM??? unpopular opinion apparently 😭 like yeah he tried to unalive her but let’s be honest all these guys are toxic!!!
OKAY SO HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ABOUT WHO THIS MIRAGE PERSON IS !!!

•someone said seth’s twin??? ok sure maybe i could see it because the communication
I THINK ITS ANDREWS!!!!!!
think about it, he’s the only one she felt safe with at first and it’s been mentioned before that when it comes to her he gets weirdly angry and protective when he’s usually very calm and collected. (i think it’s like Seth/asylum situation and he has MPD/DID)
also he was one of the first to understand her even though she’s stoic so i think he can read her mind like seth can 🫣
anyways onto the next!

Picking right up from the cliffhanger in Church, author K.G. Reuss has us diving right back into The Boys of Chapel Crest with the next instalment Ashes.

Talk about being super and majorly emotionally charged.
Ashes honest to lawd completely blew Church out of the water with the deliverance of the extreme emotions and feelings K.G. pulled out of you all throughout.
Kid you not, this book will tear you up, shred you into a millions pieces, having you completely destroyed with leaving you an extremely blubbering puddle of mess, considering the severity of the wringer that K.G. Reuss put you through.
So fair warning be ready to have your heart ripped out and decimated to nearly the point of no return, unlike myself who was not prepared AT ALL!
This came courtesy of the multiple POVs of the characters in which the story was told through.
By continuing on in the thoroughly in-depth exploration of Sirena, Ashes, Church, Stitches and Sin, it allowed us to see not only the development of growth, for some more than others.
But also following them upon the path they were made to venture upon, both mentally and emotionally due to the inner and outer demons at play, leading to a lot of highs and lows that never stopped pulling it out of you.
Something that wasn’t surprising, given how with nearly every page turn, the emotions were never ending from flowing right off the pages in an endless stream.
Ultimately resulting in leaving you a quivering mess right until the very end.

Ashes truly upped the ante when it came to the exploration of the intense darkness this story had us viewing.
Author K.G. Reuss had us delving right down into the raw, nitty grittiness that was the extremely sensitive subject matters brought forth from the topics showcased and discussed.
Making it no surprise the narrative carried a heavy load of tension and anxiety, on top of the major angsty-ness.

Yet again this psychological thriller had you riding a rollercoaster, but this time round it was a whole lot more crazier, chaotic and tumultuous than ever before.
From the suspenseful build up that was came from the action, mysteries filled with secrets, drama from the lies and deceit, leading to major turmoil.
It was a given that this deep dark, twisted and wickedly depraved story had you going through ups, downs, loops, twists and turns, with the addition of obstacles and hurdles thrown in the way.
Resulting in a nail biter of a story, that reeled you in, and dropped you down the dark abyss that was Ashes.

SPEECHLESS again, K.G. Reuss had me at a loss of words when it came to the cliffhanger delivered.
Although it wasn’t brutal like her usual cliffys, it was still mind blowing, from all that was said and done in the end.
After reading Ashes, the next book Stitches could not come fast enough, with K.G. Reuss having me looking forward to seeing the direction she will take in the continuation of The Boys of Chapel Crest series.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW

The story from book one (Church) continues with Sirena and the boys of Chapel Crest…and Seth/Asylum.

There is a lot of drama and emotional trauma. The FMC is severely damaged and traumatized. How can she not be with what happened to her?

This book is so much darker than the first book. Check your trigger warnings as some scenes are very difficult to read.

I did love Cady, Sirena’s sister. She provided some comic relief with all the crap going on.

This book ends in another cliffhanger! What the heck? I’m so confused!

The narration is awesome by Stella Ripley, Joe Arden, Edward Black, Michael Gallagher, Sean Masters and J. Tipstone.

Thank you to Blue Nose Audio for an advanced listeners copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Book of Nothing But Frustration

No idea why this book had to exist or why everyone had to be tortured so much. The first book in this series was so good but I didn’t want or need Isabella’s story for book 2 and this book Sirena is an after thought and just abused constantly. It didn’t need to go this far to have drama and it was so ridiculously unbelievable and lacking any emotional depth that book 1 had it was super disappointing. Sirena was a real person with a fleshed out character in book 1 even if mute and here she talked more but was a shell of a character - completely lacking anything to connect to. Not sure I’ll continue this series even though I want the satisfaction of a happy ending and a relief from the constant torture. It makes no sense to me how these guys kill indiscriminately, and yet are helpless when being bullied by the headmaster etc.

Lite on spoilers, mainly to talk about triggers.

Okay okay okay, hear me out because I think the ending was intriguing but I'll explain why this is a lower rating in the books for me...

Writing style, it did drag on a bit.. I kind of felt like I was reading something that could've been cut down a tad shorter - ultimately, I'm someone that likes a lengthy book and can see the author put in work to put depth in, but this just felt like overkill on the climax.

I understand this is dark, but I might have just been okay with one scene in which it deeply dived into the depravity of what's going on at Chapel Crest, especially with Everett's involvement (if you've read Church and Bells, this isn't a spoiler) but multiple instances of rape (I don't believe it's dubcon) lead me to lower the rating on this. Don't get me wrong, it definitely tugged at my heart strings and kept me reading, shoot I read this within a 24 hour time period, but that could've been done - in my opinion - in one scene. Or, since they have their own POVs, split it between two chapters with some reprieve in for a few different POV chapters pertaining to something else, a breather if you will.

Also, I feel like this book is just dark psychological...horror? Not so much romance (in my opinion).

Will I be reading the rest of this series? Absofuckinglutely. I'm still very into this series & very curious as to where we go, because the ending of this brought is such a "OH MY EFFING THAT MAKES SENSE!" moment now, that I actually do want to go back & read it again. But I'll hold off til I get Stitches. Then re-read em all again to freshen my noggin since it'll be a few months.

Long enough review, but if you're someone that likes to vibe out when reading & triggers don't bug ya, I think this series is absolutely worth reading.

edit: there is ONE scene I was referring to about a possibility of dubcon, but it's not. & neither are the others.

Seth/asylum were star of this book all the star goes to them, they made this book so much interesting and mysterious to read, i was anticipating all their chapters, i also have so many questions left about them, they mindfucked with me.
stitches condition broke my heart badly, give him some love author. this was emotional rollercoaster, some chapters were hard to read due to how emotional and painful they were.
although this book was a lil repetitive in some part i enjoyed the plot as this was more heavy on plot than smut. especially the mystery around asylum. i want to open him up and read him and know everything about him

You may not be ready for this book but you need to be because there are no words to describe the emotional and devastating gut wrenching feelings that is going to take over you during and after the conclusion of this highly anticipated Boys of Chapel Crest book 3! Trigger warnings are everywhere so please check those before starting this book. We all know the world of Chapel Crest is full of insanity, chaos, destruction, devastation, and disturbing behaviors; which is why we adore these boys and their protection/desire/need to protect what is theirs!

We pick up where Church (Book 1) picks up but now we are seeing the aftermath of Sirena from her encounter with Asylum & Sin. Sirena is now under the care of Headmaster Sully because her mom/stepfather have chosen his "treatment plan" to bring Sirena back from her demons. We all know Sully is a major creep and has his own sickness that he uses the medical ward to continue his mental, physical, and sexual treatments of his patients. That entire place is beyond messed up and you will become infuriated at the way Asylum, Sirena, & Stitches are treated while under his "care."

The emotions are exploding through every scene and interaction with our boys and their Sirena. They have to find a way to reach her but Asylum/Seth has won the bet and they have to give him what he won. This is both frustrating and nerve wracking because Asylum/Seth is all over the place and his constant riddles makes him a character that keeps you on the edge of your seat with every choice he makes. This is no different and you both love and hate him by the end.

Sirena is trapped in her mind again but this time the memories are of her trapped in the coffin and screaming for Church. She doesn't know what to believe or who to trust but she has to find a way out or she won't survive. Her emotional distress is so hard to read. She is fighting so hard but there is so much against her...However, her boys will not let her be hurt again if they can help it. She has to have trust in them and their love otherwise disaster will strike! She has to trust in the process or she will be forever lost!

Church, Ashes, Stitches are all losing their minds over Sirena being out of reach and Sin vanishing every time they try to formulate a plan. Everything is challenged in this book. Their loyalty, their love, their devotion, their temper, their resolve, their anger, their needs, their sanity (what little they have), and what that all means for their future.

K.G. Reuss has delivered a phenomenal second book in this amazing series. You will be left with more questions than answers but that is why we love her writing so much. She challenges our safe zones and pushes our boundaries by creating the Chapel Crest world for us to dip our heads in see what all the crazy is about. This story will captivate you from the first page to the last. As always, we are left with a huge cliffhanger and jaw dropping reveal that will leave you pondering what is going to happen next. Happy Reading!!!

****If you haven't read Bells I would highly recommend reading that book before jumping into Book 2. If you don't there are things that will be revealed that would make total sense having read Bells first. *****

I don't say this lightly, but this is one of the most jaw dropping and heartbreaking books KG has ever given us. I spent the first few days of this week rereading Church all over again and fully immersing myself into this chaotic and corrupt world, and well, if you thought Church was bad.. Get your tissues ready because Ashes is going to break you. Repeatedly.

We open quite literally right after the events of the last book, and the hits don't let up at all -- each one more devastating than the last. Because of the actions of SOMEONE (who shall not be named) the Chapel Crest boys are falling apart, and Sirena is more locked in her head than ever. What happened to her catapulted Church, Ashes, Stiches, Seth and Sin to all new lows, and the absolute destruction that followed -- there's just no words. My heart was physically hurting in a lot of these scenes, especially in regard to three of our main characters. I can't wait to see what will happen and next, and see if our girl will rise above the lock she has on her mind and oust all of her demons once and for all. Especially with all those that love her by her side.

I will say you absolutely need to heed all the trigger Warnings- they are there for a reason, and damn near every trigger possible is within these 400+ pages. It will haunt you, ruin you, infiurate you, and wish you had a Pyro side all of your own. I can't wait for all the corrupt POS's to get what's coming to them. I'll be cheering SO loudly once that happens, and I know KG will make it glorious!

This is hands down one of my favorite series, and just shows why KG is one of my favorite one click authors! Go preorder now so you can stay up Friday night and binge!!

I will leave you with this little nugget: read very closely. There's hints of who is involved, who will become a major player, and just who will end up helping them. This is a shared world for a reason. *winks*

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **

Ashes is honestly one of the most beautifully heartbreaking, gut-wrenching stories I've read.

It follows on from where Church ended (make sure you read Bells in-between Church and Ashes. It adds so much to the storyline!).

My heart was already breaking for Sirena, but this book crushed it. The things she had to endure had me wishing I could grab hold of her and never let go.

There is also what goes on with The Watchers during this time, and each of them in their own way had to really fight to survive. Including Asylum, who, by the way, I feel like I know him so much more but also still have no clue half the time!

In true KG style there is a cliffhanger, although it's not too bad but it does have you desperate for more with so many questions needing answered I am on the edge of my seat waiting for Stitches.

This is a dark romance, and there are some heavy triggers, so please do read the warning KG provides. She hasn't written it just for the sake of it.

Ashes and Church really stood out for me in this book, with Stitches, Sin, and Asylum breaking my heart for different reasons!

Well done KG, your brain never fails to amaze me.

I needed a little more romance, and a little less pain, but the suspense????? this book has my mind a little fucked ngl I’m not sure what to even think or where my feelings are but they’re there!! they are certainly there!

the direction this took was so unexpected and I’m not sure I like it, but then, I’m continuously entertained, even if the pain got a lot. like for every hit, i needed a hug

but I love sirena, i LOVE cady, and love love love church (such a big ole intimating simp) ashes too (he’s sweet) and stitches deserve more, honestly

we don’t talk about the other two, nope no nada

4 stars (maybe a 4.5 for entertainment factor) but if you liked church (book one), I think you could enjoy this one

Oh my god the more I keep reading from this series the more I fall in love! This book was absolutely amazing, I love how the plot developed and that things were actually happening and that the “problem/secret” wasn’t revealed from the beginning. I also thought that this book got quite dark so definitely check triggers for this one. With that said, I actually listened to the audiobook for this and I absolutely loved all the narrators and how well they did 😍

Devastating

Wow. This is a series that will rip your heart out and have you begging for more. I am holding my breath waiting for the next book.

Firstly - this is NOT by ANY means a standalone. You must read Church and Bells before you start this book. It will not make any sense otherwise.

Secondly - and I cannot stress this enough - if you have ANY triggers at all, check KG Reuss’ website for a comprehensive look at the triggers in this series. There’s an excellent chance you’ll discover yours on that list.

I keep reminding myself that this book is a stop on the way in the series and I need to trust the process (thanks, Asylum). There is still plenty to come in this rollercoaster and I’m here for it. It’s a simply amazing read that shakes you to the core.
