Being Enemies-to-lovers is highly exaggerated!
This book I really liked the World and creatures you find. I love that there is a mystery to the Vampire hunters. The fighting scenes are decent. The magic is fun, and I became very intrigued by a lot of the twists that happens. So the book had a lot of potential
And then the author make one of the biggest mistake she can do in my mind. She has a young woman (18-ish years old) being the female character, (which is fine I don't mind) but then she goes ahead and makes her act, talk and think like she is 12-13 and not soon 18 years old. And to really poor on the cringe it several times talks about how mature she is, when she is actually extremely immature. Doing this writing YA is no problem, but when you then add smut into the mix, it makes you really hesitate. And that should be the worst? Right?.... Oh no, your wrong. She then has the female do a smut scene with an authority figure in the FMC life. Making the scene full on icky, and I need a shower to scrub myself clean. (I skipped 99% of the scenes) Oh and the authority figure that is like super old also acts like he is just barely over 18 years old himself 🙄. And yes it does get worse, because he den starts to call him self daddy when flirting🤢.
Then the book is supposedly enemies-to-lovers. That is extremely exaggerated. Both main characters fall flat for each other at once. And the FMC just pretend she is not interested in the dude, because she is supposed to love another person. That is not enemies-to-lovers in my world.
Honestly, the author should have dropped the smut all together including smut talk and made it YA. And just called it a love triangle instead of Enemies-to-lovers. So the icky-ness goes away, and the big dissapointment of getting something total different than promised. Because the rest is not that bad at all. The rest was pretty decent.
But there where parts I had to jump over, because it did feel wrong.
