Best friends Tara, Ginger, and Sloane should not have gone on that walk.
If they hadn’t, they would not have found a body too decomposed to identify. And they would not have become suspects in his death.
All three women share a disturbing connection to the murder. The whole town knows about the bad blood between Tara and the victim. And rumor has it Ginger may have been romantically involved. But only Sloane knows her dark secret that she wishes would disappear…and which she’s buried as deep as his body.
Searching for answers, Tara comes across cassette tapes that unravel a horrifying chain of events. But that’s not the worst of it:
The final tape is linked to Sloane. And Sloane may not be as innocent as she seems.
As the tapes take them back to the 1990s, not even the Girl Power of the Spice Girls can prove their innocence, no matter how much they wannabe free from suspicion.
One of them knows too much…and someone will kill to hide the truth.
To know PAMELA CRANE, you first need to know her husband. He sleeps with one eye open. He checks the knife block to make sure none are missing. Why? It could be because they have four kids and a farm full of mischievous animals. Or it could be because she writes murder mysteries, and about the occasional woman who has lost her marbles (not based on her real-life psyche, she swears!) Don't worry—her husband is safe...for now. Her books range from witty whodunnits to psychological suspense and even humorous women’s fiction thrown in for good measure. She’s a USA TODAY bestselling author of over a dozen novels (who’s counting?), but her biggest accomplishment is keeping her zoo of animals alive…and her husband in check. Pamela Crane does not need to hook me any more. I will read anything she writes. After reading the first book in the If Only She Knew Mystery series, I was eager to get my hands on She Knows Too Much, Book II.
We have a very interesting character in Sloane, a deaf woman who runs an event planning company that she built herself. The character was inspired by Pamela Crane’s brother and sister in law, along with a Nigerian friend. She shared bits of the deaf world and Nigerian culture.
We also have Ginger, an older woman who suffers from chronic pain, but still has a sense of humor and a feistiness that keeps her on the move. I do love the mix of old and young characters.
And Tara. I thought we may see more of her in this book, after meeting her in Book I, Little Does She Know. She’s a bit needy. She may drive her friends a bit crazy, but she stands by them, through thick and thin.
We begin the story when Tara almost tripped over a hand sticking up in her yard. What? Who could it be? More importantly, who put it there? And why? The three women will become suspects.
The mystery is murky and the suspects are numerous. The villains, we have plenty to go around and they spread their evil freely throughout the town. They will stop at nothing to get what they want and I think they enjoy it immensely.
“You seem to attract a lot of trouble, Tara. The deadly kind, if you catch my drift.”
Peace has written a true crime novel and been a witness that put Marvin Valance in prison. She works with Tara on the horse ranch, saving horses that are to be sold for slaughter.
How Marvin managed to get released so early no one knew. There is so much corruption because of the Valance family pretty much controlling the town, and I think we may be able to figure that out. The big question is…will he be coming after her for revenge? I never saw the result coming and I love when an author catches me offguard. Good one, Pamela.
They will all learn that you cannot run from your past and secrets never stay buried.
She Knows Too Much seemed to start a bit slow to me, but I felt I would be rewarded by sticking to it, watching the story develop, the characters nosing around, asking questions, refusing to stand by and let the police do all the work.
We have moments of laughter, second chances and plenty of surprises. The last half of the book had me questioning everyone and everything. And…Pamela Crane leaves us with the question, what happens next? After reading the ending of She Knows Too Much, I can hardly wait to find out!
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of She Knows Too Much by Pamela Crane.
It's not every book where I can say it was pure fun writing it. But this one...I had a blast. For three specific reasons. And they are: Sloane, Ginger, and Tara. Let me explain.
I've been wanting to write a character like Sloane for the longest time. If you've read my other books, you'll see the first attempts at creating her, but finally she's got a character of her own! She's special to me because she's a Deaf woman who runs a popular event planning company that she built from the ground up. Inspired by my brother, sister-in-law, along with a Nigerian friend of mine, I sprinkled bits of Deaf and Nigerian culture and history into her. If you want a glimpse into Deaf culture, Sloane embodies that.
Ginger will always be another favorite of mine. She's an older woman beleaguered by chronic pain due to poverty and a tough life that took a toll on her body--but not her mind or her wit! We often take for granted our ease of access to decent healthcare, mold-free homes, or fresh produce. But not everyone grows up with the same means, especially in rural areas. Those who are forced to battle daily illness or pain are some of the toughest people I know. Luckily Ginger’s got a sense of humor and spunk that help her thrive.
And last but not least Tara: that co-dependent friend we all know and love who can drive us nuts but whose heart is made of gold. She’s the kind of friend who makes you family—with all the good, the bad, and the crazy.
Why did I build a world around these characters? Representation matters. Growing up familiar with closed caption and TTYs (an early version of a phone for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people) and admiring Marlee Matlin, I always wanted to see more Deaf people in entertainment. So I decided to write what I wanted to read.
I also grew up on Golden Girls, but it showed a Glamour Shots version of what aging can be like. Not every hero can leap mountains. Not every heroine can scale tall buildings. Some have arthritis. Others are clumsy. And Ginger’s here for those types of heroes.
I hope you enjoy my quirky cast as they draw you into a murder mystery that will fire up those brain cells! Their adventures—or should I say misadventures—are only just beginning…
What's she knows is too much.. Or is it. Sometimes knowing Too much can get you in a whole bucket full of trouble. And sometimes it can help you. Man these books are awesome. Total jaw droppers. And now i'm ready for the next book..
Pamela Crane, writes the best books This is the sixth book I have read of this authors and well. I must say each book is enthralling. And holds your attention from the first minute to the last page. Keeping you up late into the night..
This book will definitely keep you on your toes, You won't want a break because. Well, you want to know what happens, that was me., I love the parts with the tapes. And then back to reality so many villains. So many twists. Damn I love these books.
Tara,
It'll begin when she found the body on her property, From there, things just got deeper and deeper.. Finding out who done what. Was a mystery but friends are always there for you. Finding out the truth. Not stopping until you know.. Always a jaw dropper this book author's work..
What an amazing book. You trust then don't know who to trust all to have it totally blow you away in the end. Definitely a must read. Thank you Pamela Crane.
An excellent book from an excellent writer! I’ve read several of Pamela’s books, and they are all good. Her mysteries are all complex and her prose is beautiful. This book combines both the long ago past (1800’s) with the present. There are mysteries wrapped up into both. Are they intertwined or are we just enjoying the past history of these two feuding families? I highly recommend this book and all of her books!
Gripping, thrilling, and draws you in quicker than a kid to a candy store. It's very intriguing and keeps you reading. I didn't read the first book yet and I feel it may have given me more insight into the drama and relationships, but I didn't feel like it was necessary. I will be going back to read it though because this one was such an amazing read. I love that so many scenes are surprising and unpredictable. Definitely a fan of this book and glad to have found the author. While I'm new to Pamela Crane books, this will be the first of many I read.
She Knows Too Much is Pamela Crane’s second book in her If Only She Knows Series. This is another fantastic book by an extremely talented author. I would read anything Pamela Crane writes. This is a suspenseful, fast paced story that will keep you glued to the pages. It has wonderful, well developed characters that you will love. Filled with mystery, secrets, murder and revenge, this intriguing story will not let you put this one down. A compelling series that leaves you wanting the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book, series and any other book by this wonderful author!
Thank you Tabella House and Pamela Crane for another thrilling book to read and review. The opinions expressed are strictly my own. #tabellahouse. #pamelacrane #sheknowstoomuch #ifonlysheknowsseries. #arc
I didn’t know this book was part of a series so I was VERY lost. I found this audiobook on Hoopla and borrowed it because it looked good but, I ended up not enjoying it.
I recommend reading the other books before this so you’re not as confused as I was 😂
SHE KNOWS TOO MUCH by Pamela Crane is the second installment in her If Only She Knew Mystery Series. Like the first book, this story will pull you in from the first few pages and you won't be able to put it down. This series just gets more intriguing and suspenseful, filling the reader with the need to know what happens next.
Bloodson Bay has a dark history soaked in blood and revenge that never seems to stop. Four friends fateful decision to visit the crumbling 160 year old mansion when they were teens changed lives forever. Their curiosity ended with dead bodies and secrets revealed. Now grown with children of their own, a murder will bring accusations on one of them and shed more light on the secrets from the old mansion.
Three friends, Tara, Ginger, and Sloane, suddenly find theirselves linked to a dead body and Tara the most likely suspect. It's going to be up to these three friends to prove Tara's innocence and find out what really happened.
This suspenseful, fast paced story that pulls you in from the first few pages and you won't be able to put it down.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and the above is my freely given and honest review. Now, waiting for book #3, What She Doesn't Know.
Crane always writes a good mystery with a circuitous plot, engaging characters and a mystery that is rarely solved before the last chapter or two. This story has not one, but two and a half cliff hangers. How in the word does she manage to write such sucessful mysteries time after time? I don't know, but I am always upset if I have missed one!
This story involves several friends who are determined to take down the town influential (and very rich) man who is tyranical, bullying, and very corrupt. These close knit friends, that a reasonable person would think had no chance to accomplish even a portion of what they set out do, take advantage of their group think and speech to hatch a plot, resolution being their armor, they proceed.
Pamela Crane is marvelous at presenting characters in such a way that the reader feels that they know them. Not just in a book, but that they have meet them somewhere in the past, just not sure when.
If you like a mystery that keeps you guessing to the last page, you will love this book. I highly recommend it.
How many people wanted Vic dead, and who followed through? She Knows Too Much, the latest installment in the If She Only Knew Mystery series, is an excellent addition to the series. Not only does it start off with a mystery, not to mention a bit of subterfuge, it suddenly morphs into an action-packed thrill ride as the reader follows Tara, Peace, and Ginger on their quest to find out who killed Vic. The secrets they uncover reveal long hidden information on numerous citizens of Bloodson Bay.
While I suppose you could read this book as a stand-alone story, reading If She Only Knew first would not only introduce you to all the characters and Bloodson Bay, but would provide a much fuller reading experience for your reading of She Knows Too Much. I have no idea where Pamela Crane will take her readers on the next installment of this series, but I do know I’ll be waiting with much anticipation to find out. I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from the author and chose to provide my review.
Pamela's books are always a must-read for me and having read Book 1 in the If Only She Knew Mystery Series, I was thrilled to be heading back to Bloodson Bay in Book 2, She Knows Too Much. Bloodson Bay has a dark history, and three friends, Tara, Ginger, and Sloane all find themselves linked to the dead body that was left on Tara's horse ranch. With so many people with a reason to kill Victor Valance, it'll take some digging into everyone's history to figure out whodunit. And in Pamela's typical fashion, just when you think you caught the twist, she throws another one at you!? What I love the most about Pamela's books is that all of her characters feel so familiar and relatable to me - like old friends. This series is packed with 80s and 90s references, which I totally loved and brought me back, having grown up then as well. Reading her books always leaves me feeling like I just spent time with dear friends and I can't ever step away! A two-sitting read for me, I can't wait for book #3, What She Doesn't Know (which I've already pre-ordered!)
The book itself is just okay (the writing isn't really very good for any of her books that I've read yet), but the audio version is what I am reviewing. There are 3 narrator(s). One of them doing the Ginger character's voice (in parts of it) is incredibly annoying, grating, high pitched and monotone all at the same time, so much so that I kept having to jump forward to skip any parts where that narrator speaks. Another of the narrator's sounds like they are holding their nose while they speak (think Steve Urkel), and her delivery is very stiff, almost robotic. Using multiple narrator's, causing everyone's voices to constantly be different is very irritating to people who are trying to keep the characters differentiated. I'm not sure I will ever get through this book. I usually get through books within a day or two. I've been trying to get through this book for 4 days now and am maybe, halfway through it, as I keep having to take breaks from the grating voices in order to not go absolutely bonkers with irritation.
Ms. Crane has created another hands-down winner. She weaves such an emotional web in the middle of a murder mystery and will have you crying one minute, unable to catch your breath the next, and then laughing out loud at some of the crazy antics of these women. And don't waste the energy required to try and figure out the whodunit in her stories. She's going to throw you a curve ball you never saw coming. So sit back, enjoy the ride and the laughs and tears along the way. Ms. Crane is definitely the epitome of a no holds bared writer. You never know what she's going to throw at you next. In case you can't tell, she is one of my favorite writers and I can't recommend her books highly enough. I can't wait to see what happens next. I received a review copy from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion.
The last couple of books I've read were books that I've read before. Nothing seemed to interest me and I was in a huge book slump. This all changed when I noticed that She Knows Too Much had been released. I was really excited because I knew this would get me out of that slump and I was right. This book was exactly what I needed! There were so many twists and turns. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, something else happened and I had to stop and go over everything all over again. Pamela Crane did such an AMAZING job with this book. Right from the start, you are pulled into a mystery that will not disappoint you in anyway. Tara was FABULOUS and I love the way her mind worked. Thank you for the greatness Pamela Crane. This book is a definite must-read!
Tara finds a partially buried body in her backyard and is the prime suspect of the murdered man. Ewan Valance and his family are wealthy and basically own the small town of Bloodson Bay and is feared and/or hated by most residents. Ewan and his sons are mean and criminals. Tara, Ginger and Sloane begin their own investigation as to what happened and why this body was buried on Tara’s property. As the investigation progresses they are exposed to serious danger. This is the 9th novel I’ve read by this author and this book is the 2nd of a series. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
She Knows Too Much is a complex thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end!
This story is full of secrets, murder, and corruption. After a body is found at a ranch, three friends become suspects. They all have a connection to the victim and his family and it is so intriguing to see how it all plays out.
I loved that it had dual timelines in the past and present. Really helped me understand the characters and the story as a whole. I didn't see the ending coming and I loved being surprised and shocked at the same time. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy reading thrillers!
Well, it looks like I read book 2 in the series before reading book 1 (which I have). And book 3 isn't out yet! No, I need book 3 now! I was left on a cliffhanger on this one. As soon as the print copy of What She Doesn't Know comes out I am getting it. So far only available in KU.
This was a great story. Loved the mystery, the relationships, the twists and turns. Not sure I'm happy with the cliffhanger LOL.
This story is told in alternating POVs, and a past that is recorded on cassette tapes. This was an interesting format which made it easy for me to read through this book quickly.
Pamela Crane is an up and coming author who can't be missed.
Tara was more than terrified when she discovered Victor Ewan’s body in her garden! She had some ugly pasts with Victor and now she’s the prime suspect!
When Tara, Ginger and Sloane started to nose around the murder case, they discovered more unsavory long buried secrets and lies that astounded them to the core!
Pamela Crane has masterfully whisked together the essential ingredients of mystery, suspense, secrets and lies, and some humor into her latest twisty thriller SHE KNOWS TOO MUCH, which is perfect for summer beach read!
Wow! This story sucked me right in and I couldn't put it down until I knew what happened. I didn't read the first book, but I was able to enjoy this one just the same. The characters are well developed and it felt like I knew them. The drama and mystery and double cliffhangers made for an amazing read!
This was the first book I've read by author Pamela Crane, but it definitively will not be my last. If all of her books are this great, I may have found myself another author who's books are a must read for me!
I’ve read the first two books and probably won’t read the last 🤷🏻♀️.
If She Only Knew, introduces the Cahills, a wealthy San Francisco family—rich in money, twisted secrets, and hidden agendas. Now at the center of their tangled world is Marla Cahill—a woman with no memory of who she is, what she’s done, or why she could be the next to die . . .
I wouldn’t say that these books were predictable but they were suspenseful in a kind of drag out nothing kind of way. I don’t think I’d recommend them bc I think they were just blah 🤷🏻♀️
Once again Crane writes a winner! Tara and her husband own a horse ranch which is struggling. When a body is found on their land Tara is accused- there has always been bad blood between her and the murder victim. Who would be trying to set her up? She decides to investigate and they find tapes from 1990 with clues from the past. Will this help them find the murderer? Why does it feel like someone doesn’t want them asking questions? You will love this psychological mystery!
The friendship between the three main female leads features heavily in the unfolding mystery. Friends (and family)sometimes keep secrets from each other, thinking that they are doing a kindness when in fact, secrets can lead to a murky world of misunderstandings, heartache and even danger. This is a whodunnit with lots of twist, turns and unexpected revelations in the tale.
This was such a fantastic read. It was filled with a ton of twists that kept you guessing up until the very end. Tara is a very strong character who's trying to solve the mystery behind the body that was buried in her yard. You definitely need to read to find out how she does it! Can't wait to read more from this author.
Abostly loved book one so I initially jumped into book 2 and man this series is amazing to read. I abostly loved it and couldn't put it down at all. 5 star book. Helped me get through a rough time. Told a few people that they need to read this series asap. Highly recommend it. Might be rereading it later on in the year.
Just when I thought the first book in this series was mind blowing, the second one made my head spin. The murder mystery, the family dynamics, the drama omg it’s so addicting to read. I preordered book 3 and I wish I had it already. If you like a story that has you doing a double take around every corner, then you need to read this series. I highly, highly, highly recommend it.
We are back in Bloodson Bay and just when we thought the mystery had been solved involving the “crew” it’s not! An even bigger mystery is brewing especially when a body is found on Tara’s horse farm and body of one of her enemies at that. The more the crew tries to figure out what is going on the further down the rabbit hole they go.
This book pulled me right back into the drama and suspense I’ve come to expect from this series. 🔍 The tension was steady, the twists kept coming, and the emotional depth caught me off guard in the best way. Every time I thought I knew where it was headed, it took another sharp turn. I couldn’t stop reading—on to the final book! 📖💥
I loved this mystery story. The characters are are funny. The crimes and murders are terrible. I enjoyed following Tara as tried to piece together the clues. The writing is great. It was a very enjoyable book.
