When I purchased a home in an upscale neighborhood, I never imagined having one of the Charleston Pirates living next door.
Knox Irons knows just how to push my buttons. Every part of him rubs me the wrong way—well, not quite every part.
So imagine my surprise when Mr. Tall, Dark, and Infuriating comes to me for help with his kicking. I want to say no, but the desperation in his dark gaze has me agreeing all too soon.
Being around Knox while he’s bare chested and sweaty is challenging. But the way he listens and responds to my instruction is downright intoxicating.
I keep reminding myself, no matter how well we work together on the football field, he’s still my enemy when we’re off it.
I’m only here to coach the kicker, not crush on him.
Author's Note: This is a full-length, steamy, heartfelt, standalone sports romance. HEA. Opposites attract. Enemies to lovers. Forced proximity. Contemporary romance. Laugh-out-loud banter, a swoony NFL kicker who likes to push her buttons, and a soccer star heroine who gives as good as she gets.
Jacob Chance grew up in New England and still lives there today. He’s a martial artist, a football fan, a practical joker, and junk food lover. A USA Today bestselling author of sports romance and romantic suspense, Jacob plans on writing many more stories.

I was routing for this relationship all the way through, and Jacob keeps you hanging till nearly the end to find out if they can make it work. Excellent book, written as always, brilliantly. Characters with so much chemistry and love it drips off the page. Football action too. And maybe an insite as to a future relationship too. Great stuff.
Chance has once again kicked the pigskin out of the park with this cutsie-poo sports romance. Book four about the Charleston Pirates introduces us to Knox Irons, a big, good-looking kicker who dwells on the fact that he is not always one hundred percent accurate in getting that football through the goalpost. And then, WHAM, BHAM, newly retired soccer placekicker, Delaney Young enters his life as his new next-door neighbour, and his overly self-assured attitude does not leave a pleasant taste in her mouth (no pun intended), making it worse after their extremely sexual photo-shoot. But he needs help on the football field so he approaches Delaney asking for her expertise. Their relationship as teacher/student thaws Delaney’s frozen heart and soon the friends become lovers. Although we are dealing with the same old thing—arrogant man/strong woman--I think this might be Chance’s best book in this particular series. His descriptive and skillful words with charming, clever, and comical dialogue, give us mood and tone that writes the story. They are funny, they are sharp, they are teasing. This author knows how to build his characters and their personalities with style and word choice in seductive and playful situations. When it comes to juicy and explosive sex scenes, Chance is famous for writing steam and sizzle. And he does not disappoint. Other than the photo-shoot situation, we do have to wait a while till we get to the real romance, but that is understandable because his hero has to play it safe to win his prize. There is always something “Jacob” in his books—reading romance books, dog-eared pages, bacon on pizza, and my favourite—his simile equating the slamming of a door to the necessary exclamation point ending a sentence. We do not have the depth and mystery of the “Edge” series or the warmth and poetic language of “Canvas” (still my favourite book), but we do have a heart-warming and enlightening story of finding love and happiness when least expecting it, all because of making the right decision in life. Jacob has to be satisfied that the process of writing this book, and although sometimes laborious and stumping, it is pleasing to the ear of his readers. Personally, I do miss the figurative language that I equate with him, but he makes up for it with his appealing and addictive comedic writing.
First of all, HOLY HELL! That cover is yummy! I've literally been whining for the past couple of weeks how I'm totally over the NFL off season since football is absolutely my happy place & I need the season to start NOW! So getting to read Jacob Chance's Coaching the Kicker put me in my happy place giving those around me got a break from my whining LOL! Delaney moves in next door to kicker Knox Irons, and things didn't start out on a great note to say the least. However, things take a turn when he asks her for help with his kicking, and let's stop there for a minute. I mean how awesome is that?! The #GIRLPOWER right there made me ecstatic because seriously, you don't come across books to often that a football player asks a girl for help. She finally agrees and the hilarious journey filled with sparks flying igniting serious heat takes off & I laughed my a** off & fanned myself the rest of the way. This story was just what I needed at this time in my life, and I can promise y'all that I'll be rereading it every chance I get because it's just fun with a kicker (hehe) of football. So seriously, don't sleep on this perfect book and/or awesome author because you would totally miss out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
HOLY BANTER BATMAN! I love Knox, Delaney and their story so much! They are definitely my favorite couple in the Charleston Pirates Series. They had me laughing so much with their outrageously funny banter!
I have to say right off that I just love Knox Irons so much. His personality got me right from the beginning. I just loved how he loved Delaney’s feisty side and strong will. He just wasn’t going to take no for an answer.
One of my favorite quotes lol! ( Knox) - “Speaking of holding my breath, want to sit on my face and find out exactly how long I can go without oxygen?”
Delaney has everything I love in a heroine. She is quick witted, feisty and knows how to keep the men on their toes.I love her and Knox’s chemistry and banter.
This story was just so fun and hot! Jacob’s stories I can always count on being entertained from start to finish and he did just that! Grab this up and prepare for a good time!
Coaching The Kicker is a fast paced enemies to lovers romance!
Knox and Delaney do not get off on the right foot and things get progressively worse until Knox swallows his pride and asks his new neighbor for help!
The more time they spend together the more Delaney falls for the infuriating kicker and she realizes that she judged his a little too harshly. These to fall hard and fast but Delaney has to decide what her future holds before she can fully commit to forever!
I absolutely adored Knox, he was such a jerk but truly was a gentleman. He just knows what he wants and he wanted Delaney. I love the familial bonds in this book on both sides. Both Delaney and Knox loved their families fiercely! I do wish the book was longer I felt we could’ve gotten more of them together and just building on their friendship but overall when I thought about it this book was still perfect I just wasn’t ready to let them go haha!!
Coaching the Kicker was a refreshing, good for the soul read. It’s light and fun and just what I needed. The banter and chemistry was top notch with super funny moments and panty melting spice that will get you tingling in all the right places! I completely adored Knox and Delaney, their family and friends, and loved getting to ‘see’ the other Pirates crew! I highly highly recommend one-clicking this one..you won’t be disappointed.
This was an amazing read. The characters were very real and charming in their own way. Delaney is a ferociously independent but practical spitfire. Loved her tenacity. Knox was a suprise. I thought he would be a promiscuous cocky footballer but he was quite the opposite. Together their chemistry was so fun to watch. Their banter was laugh out loud hilarious. Great feel good summer read.
Football Player + Soccer Star = 🔥 Delaney coached the kicker alright.. right into love with her! Knox played his cards just right to win Delaney over after meeting in not so great terms. This couple was easily pictured in my head as a beautiful power couple. Perfect addition to the Charleston Pirates Series. Wonder who is up next? Ace?
And all I could think about after the first chapter was ‘Oh, Lord! Knox is one of those neighbors!’🤣
Things don’t start very well for Knox and Delaney! But I loved their banter! And their chemistry?!!! 🥵 I mean, that photo shoot!!!!! Seriously, that scene had me blushing, giggling, smirking, and in flames, all at once…… Is getting hot again just thinking about it! 🔥 🔥 🔥
I received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.
I loved the characters, and how Knox wasn't your stereotypical professional athlete. Who wouldn't fall for a nice guy with a hidden reading obsession, and a way with word foreplay? Delaney is the strong and silent type in the relationship and needs to work through her future after retirement. Hoping the next book is Ace and Mariko. Highly suggest this book if you want a fun, quick, feel good read.
Coaching The Kicker is definitely a must read, it is the 4th book in the "Charleston Pirates" series written by Jacob Chance. I loved reading about Knox and Delaney, the banter between the two of them had my smiling and laughing to myself and the chemistry was off the charts.
Knox is definitely a strong alpha male but he's not afraid to ask Delaney for help with his kicking skills which Delaney took pleasure in giving orders to Knox and explaining to him where he was going wrong. Things between the two definitely move fast once Delaney let's up a little leading to some hot steamy scenes.
I'm hoping that there is another book to come which is for Ace and Mariko. 🙂❤
Jacob never fails to please! From lovable characters, witty banter and steamy, sexy scenes, Jacob brings it all with this book. Knox and Delaney are funny and their chemistry is off the charts. Add in their spirited nature and Knox's ability to push all Delaney's buttons and you've got another winner here!
This is a great story. I absolutely love Knox. I will say Delaney not so much. Now the secondary characters are awesome as ever and I love Mariko. I want her story to be honest. The writing and flow of this book is done well. I highly recommend this book.
What an excellent afternoon read. I love this author’s works and they just keep getting better. Coaching the Kicker had me smiling, laughing and simply put, thoroughly enjoying the storyline as I flipped the pages. I fell in love with the main characters and was super happy to see some of the past characters from the Charleston Pirates series make cameo appearances too.
This is Knox, the team's kicker, and Delaney’s, story. Delaney has just retired from professional soccer and purchased her first home. She soon learns her next door neighbor is loud, obnoxious and infuriates her to no end - yes none other than Knox. But when he comes to her for help with his kicking because something clearly needs tweaking, she reluctantly says yes. From here the story takes off and boy what a fun read.
I highly recommend Coaching the Kicker and as well as the first 3 Charleston Pirates books. This one of the few sports genre series that this reader can’t seem to get enough of.
Knox and Delaney surely have a chemistry from the beginning and the scene of their second encounter is super hot. I enjoy reading their banters and seeing Knox chasing after Delaney is quite entertaining because he seems to disagree when his sister and his friends try to convince him to date again. Knox is struggling with his kick and Delaney is a former soccer player so she can help him which is Knox's benefit. Aside from they are enemies because of Knox's loud music, the story is lovely, funny, steamy, and has a perfect pace. Their relationship is so insta-love and Knox is the funny one of the two while Delaney is reasonable which make them a perfect couple. Now the reason I decide to give the book 4.5 stars is because I think it ends so abruptly. I know that their problem wouldn't be an issue because love will win at the end but I need more backstory. Knox and Delaney's love is so whirlwind so when they have to face their problem, I want to see they discuss it together which would help me to believe in their love more.
“Did you just dog-ear the page?” “Yeah.” “Authors pour their hearts and souls into their words. It’s meant to be enjoyed.” “Enjoyed, yes. Mutilated, no.” “What can I say? I like my paperbacks worn. It’s a sign of a well-loved book.” “Can I see what you’re reading?” “You read romance?” “Yeah. Do you think that’s strange?” “Hell no. I think that’s awesome.”
Knox is a catch, whose looking for a coach. Delaney is retired, but she’s still running defence. The mercury is rising as these players interact, flirting is a form of foreplay and apparently underwear is optional. I love the cheekiness of Knox and Delaney as a couple with a fence line to keep the neighbours apart. I think it’s going to take more than that though. I’m hoping to read more about Little Mariko in the future, she came across as really quirky. Who can resist a guy who cooks, reads, is genuine and looks after his body. A quick and easy book to read that will have you turning page after page.
Now that Delaney’s soccer career has come to an end she is ready to start the next phase of her life. Finding out that her new neighbor is Knox was not welcome news as she believes she knows the type of man he is based on an interaction between them that did not go well and has her reservations when he asks her for help.
Knox is the kicker for the Charleston Pirates who is looking to improve his kicking skills and who would be better to help him train than Delaney. As they spend time together he shows Delaney that there is more to him than his reputation and that he wants her to be much more than his coach.
Fun and flirty I loved the interactions between Knox and Delaney as he overcame her perception of him and showed her that he was exactly who she needed in her life.
Love it! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. I love to read books by Jacob Chance. Coaching the Kicker is the fourth book in the Charleston Pirates series. This is Knox and Delaney's story. Knox is the perfect gentleman even with his flaws. Delaney is strong, sassy, and fierceness to be independent too. Knox and Delaney both are fantastic. Could Knox be able to convince that he was the right person for her? I love the witty banter, steamy, and sexy scenes that Jacob brought to us with this story. Love the banter between them so much. Their chemistry was off of the charts. I highly recommend this book. You NEED to read this ONE!!! Keep up the great job! Can't wait to read the book from Jacob.
We are back in Charleston with the men we love and the women we are jealous of, I mean we would be jealous if they weren’t fictional 😉.
Jacob Chance always delivers, I never worry, I know I’m going to fall for the characters in his stories and I did once again!
Knox Irons is almost too good to be true, he’s an alpha, he’s so cocky and sure of himself until a few things happen. The most important thing being he meets his new next door neighbor and everything he thinks he wants out of life immediately changes.
Go grab this one, watch the relationship between Knox and Delaney, watch these two figure out their lives one kick at a time.
The very first meeting of Knox and Delaney as neighbors sure didn’t start off on the right foot but, boy, did that change especially since they were involved in the same sport which threw them together. Knox was the very handsome soccer player who was every bit sweet, handsome and talented and he had his eyes set on Delaney. Delaney was the ex-soccer player who was feisty and a great sister as well.
The chemistry between these two was palpable and I loved the funny side of this book so much. This book was a great sexy, funny read that I couldn’t put down. I highly recommend it and can’t wait for more from the Charleston Pirates series.

Coaching The Kicker by Jacob Chance Scored a Field Goal definitely a five stars! O my goodness where to start with this awesome book. Hopefully my review does this book justice . Sometimes you come across something awesome and your speechless. Jacob did that with this book for me. Knox and Delaney took my heart there chemistry was off the charts. The back and forth banter between the two was classic Jacob Chance's wit. Grab your copy asap I promise you will love it and will not be dissapointed. KJ Hot Reads approved.
This book is sensational and scorching hot !! From the first page you will be hooked, I couldn’t put it down. Knox and Delaney are awesome!! And it was great seeing the whole gang. I loved every page and the ending was incredible.
Jacob Chance never disappoints!! I truly believe this one is the best of the series. ( I’m sorry Flynn).
Coaching the Kicker is the fourth book in Jacob Chance's series, The Charleston Pirates. I completely loved reading and following Delaney and Knox's story, and seeing all the other Pirates as well. I loved Delaney's bond with her sister, Mariko, and how well they got along. I can't wait to see what this author comes up with next.

I absolutely loved Knox and Delaney's story. This story had some great laugh out loud moments, and Delaney is definitely my spirit sister. She is sexy, sassy, and knows what she wants. Knox is the same way and he has no problem pursuing what he wants. These two are smoking hot together and they had the best meet cute.
But I have to admit the character that stole my heart was definitely Mariko. I would love to have a little sister like her, and I hope we get more of her *hint hints. I can't wait to read the next book in this series and I hope it involves Ace a a certain tiny sister. I am dying to see where it leads.
Jacob Chance has written another great sports romance! Do not ever miss one of his books, they are written so well. This book did not disappoint. Knox and Delaney chemistry was almost instant, yet “something” is thrown into the mix that makes the reader wondering if that chemistry will keep them together. Read it so you can find out, will they or won’t they be a couple that can withstand being a celebrity couple?
I'm absolutely loving this series. Knox and Delaney will knock you off your socks. Their chemistry was instantaneous.one look and Knox knew he had to have her. Delaney instantly thought Knox was a cocky jerk. Once she gave him a chance he quickly changed her mind. I loved them.
