The Hero: Chase Zyron Garrett (a.k.a. Zy) - he works as a demolitions expert at E.M. Security Management and they have a mole at the company who has been giving information to the cartel. He is told that it has to be either his best friend Trees or the girl he loves but couldn’t have, Tessa. He has been unable to date her due to a no fraternization clause in their contracts at work.
The heroine: Tessa - she is a single mom and an assistant at E.M. Security Management. She is in love with Zy, but is unable to be with him because they both have three year contracts with a no fraternization clause. Zy had offered to take care of her if she quit her job but she wanted to be independent and make her own way. So she had looked for other jobs but couldn’t find one.
The Story: Chase has spent the last weeks doing research into his best friend Trees and had cleared him of being the mole. The bosses now wanted Zy to get closer to Tessa, seduce her and find out if she is the source of the leaks. The bosses will have her sign a new contract with some changes including the removal of the no fraternization rule. So now Zy can finally get close to Tessa like he wanted but will be spying on her while doing it. Not the best way to start a relationship.
This book was told in dual points of view via solo narration. Like Wicked as Lies this one was narrated by Troy Duran who always does a terrific job. He does a great romantic Hero with his deep and sultry voice and he has a passable woman voice as well, which doesn’t get on my nerves like when some men to a woman’s voice.
The storyline about the mole within the company was a good one and it took some great twists and turns along the way. The romance was great, there were some super steamy scenes and a whole lot of suspense. I don’t want to give anything more away, so I will only say that this book was better than the first part of Zy and Tessa’s story.

Well, I’ve never been disappointed by a Shayla Black book before but all around this one just missed the mark for me.
I know, I know, that just sounds crazy. Big picture...it was still a good book. There is a weird knowledge and understanding that a three star review by an author like Shayla Black would probably be a much higher rating by a lesser known author. This was for sure the case. I expected too much, maybe. After the cliff hanger of Zy and Tessa’s first book and the build up of no sex in the first book I think I set my sights too high.
The conversations between the characters felt forced and repetitious and too simple. All the Wicked Lovers books had kidnappings and shootings and plot twists that these alpha dom men work to figure out. And they were page turners! In this one, I felt like the guys were standing around scratching their heads like they didn’t know what leads to follow or clues to uncover. When Tessa goes quiet, mad and sad, Ty doesn’t move heaven and earth to figure out why or put the pieces together. And after someone goes missing, nothing. No badass crazy ensued. I mean come on, I figured out who they should be looking at right away!
Now thankfully, sexy time happened quickly, like chapter 2. Thank God. Zy and Tessa still have chemistry and Trees and One Mile steal the show. Their one liners and insights kept me going. (I can't wait for Trees' book)
There were quite a few loose ends and things mentioned once and not again. Maybe this is all leading to future books and this one was more a filler story. Lots of old characters made an appearance (which I love!) and there was definitely story laid out for the next book.
All in all, an okay read. I finished it in a couple sittings and still can’t wait for future books in the series.

Picking up right where Wicked as Lies ended, Zy and Tessa take no time in jumping right into a hot, sexy, sweet, wicked romance in Wicked and True.
Zy and Tessa have denied their feelings for so long, that once the chains of the “non-fraternization” clause were removed, there was nothing to hold them back. And, whoa, did they jump in feet first.
But all is not right in their world. Zy is holding back the real reason why the clause was removed, and Tessa’s hiding something even more damaging to their relationship. And when the truth finally comes out, all hell breaks loose.
And you want to read it for yourself because the story unfolds fast and furious. Plus, you know you want to find out if Zy and Tessa overcome their barriers and find their happily ever after, right?? ~ Missy, 4 stars

Wicked And True: Zyron & Tessa 2 (Wicked & Devoted 4) by Shayla Black is the conclusion of Zy and Tessa's story. The story picks right up where book 1 left off. All I can say is, this story is full of intense feels, suspense, intrigue, passion, angst, secrets, twists, and action. It's like being on a rollercoaster ride- up and down, nonstop emotions coming at you. Tessa was set up and Zy was given an order by his bosses to find out who the mole was - he's caught in a catch 22. The intensity just builds and the emotions are amazing, yet heartbreaking at times because Tessa and Zy's love is being tested to this degree. If Zy doesn't find who the real culprit is.... there were several twists and I didn't expect that who the baddie was to be. The ending was just WOW!! Great ending and loved Zy and Tessa.

Zy's secret investigation of the mole brings about unexpected outcomes - but will he be too late to realise just what has occurred?

This was intense! It picks up where part one left off and the whirlwind ramps back up. Zy is put in a bad spot but he is going to prove to his bosses that they are wrong about Tessa. Emotions were all over the place and I couldn't stop reading it. My God, how did Ms. Black manage to put such an intense and beautiful story together? I've followed her for years and her books are always amazing but these duets she's been writing have been out of this world good! I was rooting for Zy and Tessa as they navigate their way through everything that is thrown at them. And when everything comes to light and the secrets are revealed, will they still be together? I laughed, I cried, and I got ticked off (big time) but it just made me fall harder for these two. Now the wait begins for Trees and Laila. The little teaser we got at the ending of this story tells me Trees is going to have his hands full with Laila!! LOL

This is book four in the Wicked & Devoted series and concludes Zy and Tessa’s story. Although not a long story, it packs a punch. I was on the edge of my seat reading this book and in fact I had many OMG moments.
There were times that my heart was in my mouth as I feared for numerous members of the team and their families. The mystery, suspense and intrigue were intense and I was riveted from the first to the last chapter.
The attraction and chemistry sizzles, continues to burn bright and I admit there were times that I feared that they would not get their happily ever after.
This was a captivating read with strong writing and characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

If you read my review for the first book in this duet,Wicked as Lies, you will recall I said "I will admit that I was totally blown away that the queen of BDSM Romance didn't have one erotic scene in this entire book yet it was steamy and utterly amazing." Well, that is definitely NOT the case in this book because we start off with tons of fun! YES Zy and Tessa finally get together and the chemistry they had in the last book was only the kindling to the fire because in this book we have a full on inferno.
Zy is still trying to find out who is the mole in the office but in his gut he knows that it's not Tessa but that won't cut it with their bosses so he has to prove it or they're all fired....well, if that isn't an incentive I don't know what is.
There is so much going on in this book, from the sexy times between Zy and Tessa, to the bad guys doing wickedly bad things, and then we have Trees and Laila, and OMG I cannot wait for their book, Laila who will do anything to protect her sister and Trees is trying to protect her...just so much going on. it's like a constant rollercoaster ride that you never want to end.
I won't tell you who the mole was or anything but I had my suspicions in the first book and I was spot on the money with it, although a couple of things in this book did surprise me, looking at it afterwards I should have not given the benefit of the doubt to certain people but that is what a good author does, she makes you guess and guess again and second guess your guesses until the very end.
There wasn't anything that I didn't like about this book other than it ended...LOL yes I am one of those readers that loves to get lost in a good story and I am left with a book hangover when they are done if they are done well enough, and this was definitely one of those stories that I will be thinking about for a while.
If you enjoy a good Romantic Suspense, Office Romance, or Single Mother Romance I would highly recommend this duet to you.

I don't want to be too harsh, because the drama and plot twists are what propel romantic suspense stories. Also, the reader often has the broader picture of what is happening than the individual characters might. However, having read quite a few private security/bodyguard/soldier-for-hire themed books, I am always perplexed when the author creates an entire series around heroes who are incapable of performing basic threat assessments. Assessing threats and personal protection are supposed to be the entire point.
In this instance, there is a very clear threat to the family members of EM Security's owners (One of their wives is actually abducted). Those families are secured in safe houses as a precaution. Meanwhile, Tessa, who is the office administrator, is boldly approached by a bad guy as she's entering work, clearly threatened and offered a bribe for info on client whereabouts. While mildly troubled by this, no one does anything to make sure that she and her baby are offered any extra security. WHAT? She lives in a shitty duplex with a single deadbolt on the door. Even previous violent run-ins with her baby's alcoholic father didn't prompt this team to enhance the vulnerable mom's personal security.
I can't see myself delving further into the series when I'm required to suspend disbelief about the very profession that the series revolves around. 🙄

This one picks up right where the last one left off and Zy was in a horrible situation. Finally having a clear path to get the girl he's lusted after for almost a year he is know tasked with finding out whether she or his BFF is the mole within the company and he's pretty much figured out it's not the BFF. Tessa, knowing that the obstruction between her and Zy is gone is happy to move forward in their relationship, knows nothing about Zy checking her out and just when all seems good, Tessa is forced to do something that will cause Zy to loose his shit. Much goes back and forth while Zy investigates and Tessa's life slowly spins out of control. When everything collides things explode about how you would expect. I was glad that Zy figured things out quickly and worked on what was important. Who was actually behind things was not all that surprising, hints have been laid in previous books. This one ended in a great way, loved that Tessa and Zy found their HEA.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "WICKED AND TRUE"
This was a non stop action packed riviting intense drama, suspense, intrigue, danger, betrayal, secrets, lies, steamy scenes, emotional turmoil with twists that made one intense story.
ZY & Tessa journey together was a bumpy ride he loved her she was his assistant at EM Security he was a demolitions expert he was off limits to him his bossed tell him there's a mole & he has to investigate her.
Tessa has to give company secrets to the Cartel she has a daughter to protect so she hadn't got a choice she stuck, ZY had to spy on her to get the information he needs.
Someone has been watching Zy & Tessa which is used against her will he ever forgive her when he finds out the truthm will ZY & Trees be able to protect her when they hind who's behind everything.
I definitely recommend to get this wild intense riviting book that keeps you on the edge of your seat the characters chemistry was sizzling hot I'm so looking forward to next book "TREES & LAILA'S STORY" PHENOMINAL READ LOVE IT!!!!!!
This was a non stop action packed riviting intense drama, suspense, intrigue, danger, betrayal, secrets, lies, steamy scenes, emotional turmoil with twists that made one intense story.
ZY & Tessa journey together was a bumpy ride he loved her she was his assistant at EM Security he was a demolitions expert he was off limits to him his bossed tell him there's a mole & he has to investigate her.
Tessa has to give company secrets to the Cartel she has a daughter to protect so she hadn't got a choice she stuck, ZY had to spy on her to get the information he needs.
Someone has been watching Zy & Tessa which is used against her will he ever forgive her when he finds out the truthm will ZY & Trees be able to protect her when they hind who's behind everything.
I definitely recommend to get this wild intense riviting book that keeps you on the edge of your seat the characters chemistry was sizzling hot I'm so looking forward to next book "TREES & LAILA'S STORY" PHENOMINAL READ LOVE IT!!!!!!

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
Tessa is still working for EM Security, but with Zyron trying to figure out who is betraying them, her time is limited. With Zyron working double time to try to prove that his friend and love interest aren't the leaks, he's burning the candle at both ends.
While EM Security is trying to plug their leak, Tessa is worrying herself and Zyron is trying to piece it all together to form the complete picture.
Usually I love Black's ability to write her characters, but in this instance, I was able to guess the who in the first book, so this one was a little bit of a let down. Where Black came through for me in a big way was the relationship between EM Security team members - even though there was some duplicity going on, because they are a family, you get to see them work together.
I am looking forward to more books in this series and hope we get to see more of Zyron and Tessa.

I have been waiting for this book since I finished Wicked As Lies. The Finale of Zy and Tessa’s story had me on the edge of my seat and reading late into the night because I had to find out if this couple was going to get their happy ending. Shayla has a way of ripping my heart out and handing it to me and this book wasn’t any different.
Zy was given an order by his bosses to find out who the mole is that was causing so much danger and havoc at EM Security. Two suspects topped the list, Tessa the woman he loves and Trees his best friend. Talk about a massive headache!
Throughout both books I thought I knew who the mole was and boy was I wrong! Talk about suspense, intrigue, mystery and hot sweat inducing love scenes! This book needs to come with a warning label ! Iced beverage and fan suggested!

This book was the second of a two-part story about Zyron & Tessa. I'm giving this 3 1/2 stars because Tessa just kept being the heroine in the story I wanted to shake/slap upside the head several times, repeatedly. I just have no patience for women like this, although I could at times understand SOME of her reasoning, she made too many wrong choices and didn't have enough trust in Zyron and the men she worked with, and that made NO sense to me.

What an intense read! Wicked and True is book 2 in Zyon and Tessa’s story. This book picks up right where book one leaves off. This is an emotional ride of a book. There is intensity, passion and uncertainty. Zy is put in one of the hardest positions to be in. He must prove his loyalty to his mission, his friend and the love of his life, Tessa. One of them is doing something that is causing harm to his co-workers.
The emotions in this book are all over the place. The way in which the story unfolds you can not put it down until you know everything and know that all involved are safe. The story is beautiful and extreme, this is the magic you expect when reading a story by Shayla Black. Her stories have a balance of sexy and desire for justice.

Finally the conclusion to Zy and Tessa's story. Very emotional second part of this duet.
Strong characters. Very likeable.
The only question I really have is why must the heroine always have to do stupid crap and think she can handle something really really bad without any help. When she had a whole security/protection agents that will stand behind her for anything?
Anyway that's just frustrating.
I do highly recommend this duet and series.

Wicked and True: Zyron & Tessa Part 2
Where to begin. In the first part of this 2 part story, Shayla drew you in making you want to not put it down for anything. In the second part, it was worse (lol) she drew you in knowing that you would never put it down, because you were would always be wondering what was going to happen next.
This book had me spellbound and was very hard for me to put down. What with wanting to find out how Tessa reacted to what Zy was doing and wanting to find out how everything turned out (with the missing people) was enough to make you forget you had to eat or sleep lol.
Shayla also leads you into the next book with little glimpses of poor Trees life and how it's going.
I can not wait for the next book to see how Trees deals with everything.
There is a cliffhanger with one of the missing people, but i'm hoping that it will be resolved in the next set of books.

HOLY SHITBALLZ! This book had my heart beating so fast! I literally got annoyed with family being needy whilst I read !! It was a rollercoaster ride of the best kind ! This is the conclusion of Tessa and Zy's story and it is a roller coaster ride of emotions. At the end of book 1, Zy was told by his bosses that he has to find out if Tessa was giving company secrets away to the cartel. This was something that was hard for him to believe because he never thought the woman he loved could ever do anything like that. There were too many coincidences and things were adding up against Tessa and the more Zy found the more his heart hurt.
This is a fast-paced story that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next because you will not believe what is happening. Can Zy prove that Tessa is not the traitor giving secrets away? Will Zy and Trees be able to protect her when they learn who is behind it all?
Author Shayla Black has done it again with this team of security specialists. You will want to read fast to find out what happens but then again you will want to read slowly so you can savor it all. Either way, I hope you fall in love with Zy and Tessa's story as I did. Now I can't wait for Trees' story to come out, which will be sometime in 2022.

Hot and steamy and full of suspenseful tension. I am deeply in love with the Wicked and Devoted series and Wicked and True only solidified that love further!! In addition, I need to apply as an assistant at EM Security to land my own Zy!!
There is no doubt that I expect action, when it comes to this series, but my goodness (fanning myself) the action between the sheets - Zy is a beast! Not only is he passionate, but he's trustworthy, loyal, honest, loves with his whole heart displayed right on his sleeve- sigh, Zy is super dream worthy. I will be dreaming about this book boyfriend for quite some time. He is however, stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to the woman of his dreams, Tessa. Told by his bosses that he has to flush out the mole whom they believe is Tessa, he now has to spy on her while using all of his skills, which includes seducing her. His dreams of having her begin to shatter before they even really begin.

While she realizes that Zy will most likely never forgive her for her duplicity, it comes down to choosing the safety of her child over praying that Zy will understand and asking for forgiveness. Picking up from where book 1 left us, Zy & Tessa cross an important threshold in their relationship, but its not all roses and sweet nothings, as the danger dares to come closer than they believed it ever would.
So, I sort of had an idea who was behind the leak since book 1, but I absolutely loved the ride that Shayla Black led us on with Zy & Tessa. The suspense and intrigue were top-notch; once I was able to settle down and read it, I couldn't stop. I absolutely loved the twists and turns. Zy & Tessa's chemistry was blazing hot - just as it was in book 1, and it never let up, even when they were seemingly on opposite sides.
I loved Zy. He is not only hard-working, but also loyal, dependable and unafraid to show his love for Tessa, waiting until she loves and trusts him back. Every scene between them was charged with heat, but also an underlying tenderness.
I can't recommend this duet enough. You'll love this couple and immediately begin rooting for their HEA, like I did.

Shayla has outdone herself with the absolutely fantastic romantic suspense and has just blown me away. This is the conclusion of Chase "Zyon" Garrett and Tessa Lawrence's story and they finally get together but then something pulls them apart. Zy knows something is wrong with Tessa but she will not open up to him as she has her daughter's life to protect. Zy's bosses task him with finding the mole in EM Security who is leaking secrets to the cartel and they think it is Tessa or Trees. Will Zy using his skills, with the help of his colleague Trees, find the truth, or will he destroy his relationship with Tess in the process. There is beautiful steamy romance, fast-paced action, captivating intrigue and suspense, and fantastic character development, and such an enthralling and creative story. I just could not put it down. I love this amazing author's work and can not wait for Trees and Laila's story.

In true Shayla Black fashion, the conclusion of Zy and Tessa's love story is filled with fast paced action while incorporating honest and true emotions. From the opening pages, Zy has been placed in the difficult position of finding out if the mole is his best friend or the woman he has fallen in love with. Only given two weeks to figure it out he must choose between his heart and his mind. Difficult on all fronts especially when there is another level of tragedy place on the entire team. But in the end the reader is left sighing with happiness while still on the edge of their seat with more questions than answers. Be warned - once you start this book you will not be able to function in real life until you get to the very end. Once again Shayla Black does not disappoint!!

The continuation of Zy & Tessa’s story was an emotional rollercoaster ride. My heart went out for both of these characters especially Tessa. The love they both have for each other is priceless. Definitely can’t wait to read Tree’s story next.

FINAL DECISION: Sexy and action-packed story. I got exactly what I wanted from the story -- with one exception. I was annoyed by Tessa's actions which started the trouble with the couple. Ultimately, I was pleased that the book acknowledged her mistakes. And the couple is hot. Fun book.
THE STORY: The second part of Zy and Tessa's story. Zy is trying to uncover the mole at the company and is now given two choices -- his friend and the woman he has fallen for. Tessa is confronted with a choice that no woman should have to make, threatening her new relationship with Zy.
OPINION: The setup in the first book explodes in this book as all the tightly wound parts of the story explode in an action-packed story. Zy and Tessa are a good couple. He is protective and she really needs protection from some of her dumb choices! At the same time, she is a good person that goes with her heart rather than thinking through her choices.
This book begins with things really moving between Zy and Tessa. Then things fall apart quickly as Tessa has to make a choice that tears them apart. That was the part that bothered me about this book. She just makes a stupid decision. It annoyed me because the decision just didn't make sense. However, I'm glad I continued with the story because she acknowledges the flaw in her reasoning by the end. While I wish she had realized it earlier, I did appreciate that the book acknowledges the mistakes that both she and Zy make in the story.
The story is really hot, and there is even quite a bit of hot angry sexy tension between Zy and Tessa in this one. Other than my complaint about Tessa's decision-making, I really enjoyed how the story built tension and let the action play out in the story.
The book reads really fast, and everything gets resolved with Tessa and Zy by the end -- although there are lingering storylines that continue with the next couple in the series.
WORTH MENTIONING: This book's timeline overlaps with the other books in the series so if you read them in order you already know more about the romance of One Miles and Brea and get a preview of Trees and Laila.
CONNECTED BOOKS: WICKED AND TRUE is part two of the story of Zyron and Tessa and is also the fourth book in the Wicked & Devoted series. This book should only be read after WICKED AS LIES since it is really one story. Zy and Tessa are another great couple. My 4⭐ rating is got the entirety of their story encompassed in this book and the one prior. As I didn't feel like I could adequately rate half a story. But I'm so distracted by this book's "epilogue" situation I have to start there rather than getting into the book itself.
An Epilogue as I've always understood it, is like having a little extra frosting flower on one's book cake. We've read a great story, then the epilogue allows for the author to give us readers a little glimpse at the HEA that comes later. Like zhsuging up a nicely wrapped present with some fancy ribbon and a big bow. I even looked up the definition of epilogue to make sure my understanding was correct. Directly from Miriam-Webster (and Google of course) I found:
"1. a concluding section that rounds out the design of a literary work
2. a: a section or speech at the end of a book or play that serves as a comment on or a conclusion to what has happened.
b: the final scene of a play that comments on or summarizes the main action
3. the concluding section of a musical composition : CODA"
No where does it say or imply that an epilogue contains a teaser for a whole new storyline. Which is exactly what this book's epilogue does. So curious creature that I am, I of course have to go on to the next book in this series rather than what's next on my TBR list. #1 because I've already inadvertently started the next book already by reading this one's epilogue. So I've gotten a glimpse of what's ahead for Trees (Zy's bestie) and Layla. And #2 if I tack the next book onto my TBR list, by the time I get to it I'll have half forgotten too many details to be able to go on without backtracking to re-read this one first. Just when you think that things can’t get more crazy or complicated it does just that. Wicked and True is intense in suspense, danger and passion. Tessa and Zy story is a roller coaster ride for sure.

Tessa thinks she knows the dangers of the people whom she works for, but her thoughts will never match the reality that is now knocking at her door. Tessa and Zy embrace the chemistry they have been fighting for so long while the world around them takes a turn that they never saw come.
