Instead, it shattered my world and destroyed everything I thought I knew. I had been hidden away with my powers cloaked by those who were desperate to protect me. But now that my true identity has been revealed, a vile enemy is desperate to capture me.
I need Cyrus, my fated mate, now more than ever. His support makes me stronger, and I need that strength as I uncover more about my hidden heritage. By doing so, I inadvertently awaken deadly threats that target me and those I love.
Danger is closing in as my adversaries grow intent on killing Cyrus and handing me over to the prince of Hell. To protect my mate, I'll have to harness my emerging powers and prepare for war.
My days as a pawn are over, and I will fight to protect those I hold dear... even if it takes my last breath.
Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.
My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.
I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.
I'm extremely addicted to caffeine and enjoy drinking coffee and lattes. I am so pleased that you stopped by my page! Please feel free to follow or contact me at the following pages -
Alright, this took me a day to finish, and I didn’t finish it until later at night.
Look, don’t get me wrong, I love Jen’s writing. For one reason: she gets the formula right. Pretty book covers, intriguing world building, addicting writing, memorable characters, and such. Some urban fantasy that I come across really doesn’t interest me- either due to bland plots or a mix of things.
As I went through this book, I couldn’t help but think about the long phrases and random happenings through out. Granted, these books have different writing styles then the colored and detailed ones I am used to as well.
Still, the writing pulls me in, and Annie and Cyrus actually do feel authentic and genuine in their relationship. Out of most of the paranormal fated mate stories I have read by Jen, this one actually does feel believable, but I still like her other works.
Now that I am done with this book, I am on to the rest of the Shadow City books. I finally have them all, so now I can read them all in one sitting without having to wait for another to release.
Wow! Cyrus and Annie get put through the ringer! This book was so full of surprises! I love Annie she is such an amazing carictor. She struggles but does what must be done.Cyrus wants to protect his mate yet still there are forces hard at work trying to take her! There ending is absolutely perfect!
Wow, my heart raced several times. Tate was a total tool. What he wanted was power and only power for himself. I had Ezra pegged as the alpha wanting Sterlyn before the end of her series. Glad he is where he belongs. Love this world Jen L. Grey has created.
I like how everything came together at the end. A few surprises of course. But the way they put everyone together fighting the worst of the evil worked real well. Enjoyed reading this trilogy and will read the others that are part of this series.
Great ending to Cyrus and Annie's story. While they do endure some losses they finally get their HEA. Lots of action with a fast-paced story. Looking forward to Rosemary's story.
I think my favourite thing about this series is that it incorporates the charaters from the other books and you get to see how all the characters develop
Irritating for so many reasons. This 3rd series is by far the worse. First, the repeating of what had happened in previous books was way over the top. At least a 100 pages was filler repeat material, to the point that I started skipping pages. There was no need. Very rare is someone going start in the middle of a series. There a lot of reaping in the second one but nothing like this. Second, the whole macho male thing is so overwhelming, we get that the males in this series think they are better then females, but there comes a point when it feels like the author is hitting the reader over the head with a club to make her point along with this is the jealousy of a mate if the opposite sex might touch it glimpse their mate naked. There werewolves for crying out loud, they shift and they are going to be naked. Grow up and deal with it. And last but not least the main characters are so whinny and juvenile. They remind me of junior high students. I seriously don’t know if I can continue. Which is a shame because I was looking for to Rosemary’s store. I don’t know if I can handle the repeating of the last 9 books.
The writing style is easy to follow, and the plot has some engaging moments. The world-building had interesting elements, and I wished for more exploration and explanation of the supernatural aspects. The book left some questions unanswered and didn't fully utilize its paranormal setting. The characters would have been great but for fated mates, I wanted more chemistry and authenticity in romantic relationships. The lack of a deeper emotional connection made it challenging to fully invest in the book. Also, the recap of previous events in this book was off the charts! It felt like a hundred pages of déjà vu, and I couldn't help but skip through some of it. Seriously, who starts a series in the middle, right? Let's get to the fresh stuff! 😄
Books in the Shadow City universe have always been drama-filled and action-packed with a little steam on the side but Fated Souls have really amped it up. This is the last book in Annie's series and everything was to the max.
Annie has finally stopped with her childish ways and has grown up, she looks at situations and thinks them through instead of just acting. She's finally got the hang of the supernatural world and found her place with her new family. Things with Cyrus are great he's getting more self-esteem but his overprotectiveness is pushing buttons. He's found his place with Annie and his twin, Sterlyn, and he fits right into the group as well.
I continue to say that my favorite thing about this universe is that all the books and characters are connected. Readers don't just read about one set of characters and then move on but hint that it's in the dame world but Jen gathers characters from book to book, making this fantastic group of friends who are family and all the characters from the previous to the present are important.
Super fun paranormal with great world building and strong found family vibes. Each sub-series has its own story arc, but there is bigger political drama unfolding throughout the series. Overall, you’ll like this series if you like good vs. evil plots, political drama, fated mates, alliance building.
The only negative is that I feel like each subseries should have been one book. I find that each individual book ends in an odd place, but each series has a good conclusion.
Although each sub-series can be read as a standalone, it’s much more enjoyable to binge in order:
Another good book from the shadow city world. I really like Annie and Cyrus together and there’s some good insights that they uncover about the world and a lot of action happens here. There were a couple things that threw me off, like the beginning of the book, coming back to the conversation from the end of book 2, and taking the other choice without discussing why they didn’t go that route in the beginning. Also, throughout the book there’s some moments where character details are added that have already been mentioned in this book that makes those words feel a little, fluffy and unnecessary, and kind of annoying. It could also be that I’m reading the shadow city world books and series in order so some of those details feel irrelevant since I just read those books. Overall, good story, romance, and the ending gives some exciting for the future books!
Fated Souls is the third and final book in the Demon Wolf Series of the Shadow City World. It is imperative to read Ruined Mate and Shattered Curse first as each book starts where the previous book ended. I highly recommend reading all of the Shadow City World in order because characters reappear in subsequent trilogies and give spoilers but also because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Shadow City world. That being said..........
Fated Souls has Annie and Cyrus fighting alongside of friends/family to get answers to their past, to protect the ones they love and to finally be able to enjoy being mates. Read to see how Annie and Cyrus grow as mates, learn the truth and fight for what's right. Expect surprises you won't see coming, chemistry, action, and friendships that get stronger with each page.
Another Shadow City trilogy I absolutely loved. I think it was amazing howAnnie brought together more of the group than before and it also brings more Witch questions up! I didn’t like how the end felt a little rushed- not necessarily the demon scene but the happily ever after- ending with a pregnancy! I wanted to know more about Rosemary anyway so I will be reading the next series but I also want to know more about this group and this author really ties everything together. I love the mystery going on along with the camaraderie of this crazy complex group!
The fight for balance continues, to recover the supernatural city from darkness.
When you meet your birth parents, you're supposed to figure out where you came from...not have to form a plan to defend yourself from them, and save the victims. As with most of this series we see Annie as a rational person, using her experiences working with the foster kidd for her packs benefit. We see her "pack" knit tightly together, and find ways to make everything as balanced as possible. Sterlyn shows herself to be a more than capable leader, and they are able to take out one more person plotting for the fall of the supernatural city.
I love this series and cannot wait to get into Rosemary’s story. I love that the story keeps bleeding into each series and you keep learning more. The only negative thing that I can say is it’s a little annoying that how things happened previously are repeated multiple times. For instance, how Cryus came to be or how Ronnie came to be…it’s just a bit much when it’s repeated over and over again. Other than that I love these stories. I started with the Wolf Born trilogy and the Dragon Mate story which don’t necessarily have anything to do with Shadow City aside from it being mentioned. Over all these are great reads!!!!
Honestly love this series, it had me wanting to read more and more. I read the first 2 books just as quick as this one. I love how all the same characters are still used from the precious series each becoming the main character and finding their fated mate. But I am so happy to see Annie's story after what happened her in the last series which focused on her sister. I'm delighted she got her fated mate and yes there is a happy ending. However, not to spoil it, but there is one sad bit, which I was expecting that nit everything would go to plan eventually. Overall a great series and can't wait to read the next series in this world.
Annie, Cyrus and the is rest are back with this third and final book in this series. As the fight for the their lives continues Annie and Cyrus have some hard truths to face and losses they may not get over. As the story unfolds, you will get pulled in and left floored with everything that is revealed. Your emotions will get pulled in so many directions you won't know which way the story will go and who will end up doing what and by the end you mind will be blowed away. This final book takes you on read and you won't want it to end. I am so totally looking forward to what she has next.
I usually grab a series of books and I read it too fast then I got to wait for the next book to come out, I barely made it through book 2 and couldn’t finish book 3. Not a glimpse of what the non stop fighting was about, overly talked about others characters and I was sick of the mentioned of Ronnie as Alex wife, we know that already and the every quarter of the book the reminder that Annie and Cy having similar stories and how good balance evil(exhausting)
If you like books about supernaturals, this series is for you. I just started the series and am already waiting for the next book. The only issue I have, and maybe because I ready so many in a row, is the author uses the term “so damn” way too much: so damn much, so damn gorgeous, so damn this and so damn that. It’s not the curse word. It’s the repetitive use of the phrase. Just my little irritation. Otherwise, I love how all of the different supernatural races are portrayed.
What a great conclusion to Annie and Cyrus story. The action kept me on the edge of my seat. Fighting between the demon wolves and other villains, made for an entertaining listen. Cyrus in this installment had to learn to trust Annie and not try to protect her every time. Annie leaned a lot on her past experience to deal with werewolves. The ending is satisfying, and so sweet. I’m not ready to say goodbye to these characters.
This whole series of books have been most wonderful and a joy to read. I have read all the sets prior to finishing the demon wolf set which was just as wonderful as the first sets. I am looking forward to reading more of this series. I can’t seem to put the book down until it is finished. I would highly recommend the series of books as they are great reads and spel binding Thanks 😊
I love the stories and the characters. I can't wait to find out the rest of the mysteries, but... The repetitions are killing me. How many times do I need to read, that Cyrus had a tough childhood and how that affected him or that Annie thought they were treating her like a child but was going to ignore it. And there appears to be more bedroom fillers in this series than previous ones.
Another conclusion to a wonderful series. This one did seem a little slower than the other ones, but a lot does happen in it. I truly love this world so much. I knew the sad part at the end was going to happen, but it still hurt so much. Even knowing it was bound to happen didn’t help the heartbreak.
Cyrus and Annie’s love story was well worth it and I cannot wait to read Rosemary’s next.
Trouble still follows the group as they fight to protect Annie and Sterlyn. They still haven’t figured out who is behind all the violence and grab for power. With allies from the Shifter’s, Vampires, Angels and Witches they hope to put a end to all the threats. I love this series and all the characters.
Annie And Cyrus just go from one problem to another but with the help of their friends they get thru it. This is a very diverse group and they work well together. They have caught another of the council who is causing trouble for them but they haven’t caught the main one yet. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Great job Jen.
I love the journey these characters take to get through their trials. Although I wasn't expecting for the loss at the end, I'm hoping maybe they somehow make an appearance. But my absolute favorite part is the ending! I have been waiting for this ending for EVER!! So amazing!!!
I always thought Ezra seemed “off” and boy was I right! I’m ecstatic that Tate with his power hungry was is gone, he creeped me out (well done on making the character unlikeable). Poor Eliza, maybe they will find a way to “visit” her to say goodbye. But there was a lot of closure by the end. ❤️❤️❤️
