Amazing Read

I received a copy from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

This was an incredible read. Is Jesus worth it? Yes, He is worth it. When you feel like quitting that your faith flourishes. I am glad to finally read this book. God is always there for us when we need it the most. All we have to do is worship and thank the Lord for all that he does. I learned a lot about faith in this book. I hope to build on my faith as a Christian and a relationship with God. I am reminded of two beautiful bible verses that get me through my days. First verse is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” from Philippians 4:13. Second verse is “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” from Psalm 46:1. With both of these verses, I know that I am able to believe even when my circumstances feel overwhelming. I do not need to be afraid because I know that God is for me, and ready to help me whenever I need it. I can’t wait to read more books by Stacey Thacker. Overall, an amazing read.

Stacey's first book in her new series is thought-provoking. She walks you through Hebrews and answers the question, "Is Jesus Worth It?" There were moments when I felt like she could read my mind and then hugged me and said it's ok. Life is hard and our faith is tested in ways that make us want to crumble. Jesus is right there with us and stretches out his arms, we just have to reach back. This book helps us to remember to listen and then put out our hand.

clear and concise. all chapters related to one another cohesively, which I so rarely find. Thacker also has a wonderful honesty and relatability. I read through too quickly and will have to purchase a hard copy to dive deeper.

Stacey digs into the book of Hebrews while weaving in her own personal real life stories into it to make it more relatable to our lives today. She writes in such a way that it makes you feel as though you are sitting across from her at the table having an intimate conversation about God and how we should strive to be Christ like in all things. So much of Stacey's story parallels with mine and it was wonderful seeing how God's truth and Word helped her overcome her own struggles. It gives me hope that I, too, can overcome things like being a people pleaser and a "busy keeper." The "Cease to Do" chapter is one I will refer back to over and over again for sure. I honestly don't know how to fully rest, but know that God designed the Sabbath so that we would all come to know and have rest, so I am really work hard at trying to find a way to make this a part of my life, but boy is it hard! Stacey says "All our keeping and doing and pretending is not needed to achieve a level where we can give ourselves permission to rest." She also said "From the beginning of the world God's plan for us was that we would first rest." In today's busy society, how many of us can honestly say that we truly rest and center ourselves deeply in the Sabbath God intended for each of us? It is by our faith, rest, intimate relationship with God, His Word and in our desire to help, pray for, encourage and love those around us in our community that we will come to a place of peace and following Jesus in all things. I can't wait for the next book in this series and a chance to gather my girlfriends to discuss these deep truths.

I was given an advanced reader digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In "Is Jesus Worth It?", Stacey shares as one girlfriend to another how knowing Who Jesus is changes everything. He is worth seeking, worth trusting, worth following, worth drawing near, worth listening too, worth knowing intimately, worth holding fast, worth our worship, worth the sacrifice. Jesus is worth it all.

Stacey quotes, "With no one to turn to but Jesus, I found Him profoundly faithful and deeply tender. Jesus is truly all you need." I related to the personal story that she shared, and I could tell you personally stories when I have found myself alone, with absolutely no one to turn to but Jesus, yet in those moments, that is where I have found my faith deepen. My love for Him. My prayer life increase. Him and Him alone. In the valley, but not alone. He is enough.

While reading "Is Jesus Worth It?", I laughed. I cried. I desired to sit down at the feet of Jesus and soak in more of His Word - to know Him better and make Him known. I believe that some of the most encouraging words from my sweet girlfriend, Stacey, were, "I am not giving up on this race of faith. I'm going to run even if I'm bruised because I know without a shadow of doubt that Jesus is worth it. And if I happen to run by and see you have fallen to the ground, I will be the one who shakes you by the shoulders and says, Come on, get up...we have to finish this. And then we will look forward to the finish line, together." I literally had to read that section twice, because tears had filled my eyes. This is what a girlfriend does. This is what a member of the body of Christ does. Walks alongside another. Encourages another to press on. Finishes together. There is no one trying to out do another, no one left behind. Together, we are looking forward to the prize - Christ. He is worth it!

I will never look at the book of Hebrews the same again. Stacey's style of writing is one of my absolute favorites. She intertwines personal stories with the truths from the book of Hebrews. I am not one to read a book twice, but after 9 pages of notes reading through it a first time, I am already re-reading it a second time in order to soak in (and be reminded again) of the truth that "Yes, Jesus is worth it." And it is definitely on my "have-to-read-yearly" list. I highly recommend this book for any girlfriend ready to dig into the book of Hebrews and answer the question for themselves, "Is Jesus Worth It?"

I received a complimentary review copy by the publisher and author as a part of the launch team. This review is my honest opinion.

“When life is hard, your heart might ask, "Is Jesus worth it?"
Come hear the responding yes ringing through every verse of Hebrews.”

Everyone feels like quitting, at some point or another.
Add in the daily world events... it becomes hard to determine where to turn.
This sweet book reminds us whose we are and where we can turn.

Delving into the book of Hebrews with Stacey Thacker was like spending time with a friend.
The writing was understandable and not over my head!
Scripture references filled the pages, along with real life comparisons and personal stories.
There were so many nuggets of wisdom and reminders of just how much God loves us.

There is a Bible Study guide in back for going deeper into the Word.

I believe this book would be good for reading alone or as a group.
It's not one of those studies where you need to buy additional materials (videos, etc).

This book is part of “The Girlfriends' Guide to the Bible series” and I am looking forward to reading those which follow.

I've already purchased a print copy of this gem (and highlighted so many key points).

I received this electronic book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this opportunity!

After reading this book which is based on the book of Hebrews, I find myself not only wanting to dig deeper into Hebrews but into other books of the Bible as well. In her book, Stacey uses scripture, personal stories, and quotes from other sources to give us a picture of Jesus in Hebrews and show us that He is worth it. Her writing style is personable and real. Two chapters that I am still thinking about are chapter 6: Unshakeable and Chapter 9: The One Thing You're Really Going to Need. In the first, Stacey explains that in order to be unshakeable we will need to remember that Jesus is enough but to also get rid of the idols in our lives. In the second, she talks about endurance and what that looks like in our walk of faith. It is a great book to read alone or with a friend. I can't wait to go through it again with a friend. (I did receive an advanced copy of this book in return for my honest review.)

Is JESUS Worth It? It is very interesting book. The author talks about what made you Decide to take on this subject and this book. She then goes on to tell us that everyone questions that question about 98%of each and everyone of us do not ask that question and that 2% of us ask that specific question. I have to do for free with that. I do not ever question if Jesus is worth it - 100% of me has no doubt. Other than that she concentrates on Hebrews because they question the same thing. She did a good job if you were questioning that question. I received a copy of this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; my opinions in this review are all my own.

In "Is Jesus Worth it?", Stacey Thacker goes through the book of Hebrews. With many examples from her personal experience, she illustrates the words form Hebrews and wants to encourage and excitewomen to study scripture and ignite their faith.

Overall, I liked this book and also really appreciated the study guide at the end of the book. However, there were a few things that hindered me from completely enjoying it. Her explanations of Scripture were very understandable and not too far-fetched, but some of the examples felt a little too trivial compared to the experiences of the people in the Bible. For example, "Hold onto Jesus like my kids hold onto my hand in the shopping mall so they don't get lost", in my opinion, is an unfortunate comparison that does not communicate the importance of holding onto faith.

Her style also was a little too much for me. She always calls the reader "sweet girlfriend" and often assumes that the reader shares her interests and values as well as repeatedly saying things like "since we are now girlfriends". She assumes a familiarity that simply wasn't there for me. I would have liked it better if the author hadn't come so uncomfortably close. But this is only my personal opinion. If you're okay with the style, you might really like it.

So I would recommend this book if you don't mind that the style is very personal. If you can, I would definitely recommend reading an excerpt before buying it.

Stacey, the author, takes the book of Hebrews and goes through the book examining if Jesus is worth it. It may seem like a simple question but in reality it is one that needs to be answered in a world of many world views, hardships, and unknowns. Stacey's writing style is conversational yet well researched. Her goal is for us to be in the word and even shares a bible study method she uses in one of the chapters. I would like to go through it again with a friend or two as we dig into Hebrews and discuss the topics of each chapter.

This book is awesome! The book of Hebrews is amazing all on its own and Stacey really brings it to life. When I read the first chapter I felt as though God was right there, in the room with me, surrounding me, engulfing me in Him. Truly worth the read!

Merged review:

This book will knock your socks off! While reading I felt like my Lord was right there in the room with me surrounding me with His glory. A new look at Hebrews in a most wonderful way. You will love it!

This book is one of my favorite books of 2017. Stacey has a way of un-complicating what some would consider a difficult book of the Bible. The Bible is something that I can, and do discuss with my girlfriends, and Stacey gets that. I am so grateful for this series of books and can't wait for the next one.
