Whew, Miss Jalissa had serious daddy issues, that made her give all men the 👀 as she chucked them the deuces! The anger that she held in her heart, didn't allow her to see when there was a good guy right in front of her. All she could see was the abandonment from her father, and she refused to feel that pain again from any man! Meek! He understood that he had issues and was seeking peace and understanding, when he bumps into Jalissa halfway across the world! Their chemistry is something serious! But they both were trying to get their lives together, without the distraction of the opposite sex! Once Jalissa let her guard down just a bit, she began to see that Meek was a guy who she could lean on. I felt for Jalissa as she made the trek back to the states to see about the "father" she really didn't know, in THAT situation! It was heartbreaking that she was not able to get the answers that she desperately needed from him! Would love to see more of Meek and Jalissa to see how they progress in their lives. Good read! 👍👍👍

The transformation.....

Ms. Wilson, I was so excited to read this spin-off on Jalissa and Meek. I have been rooting for them since I read, "The Piece I Needed." I knew that sparks flew when Jalissa and Meek met at Khaleef and Danai's big announcement. Jalissa had her guard up so high Meek couldn't even peek over it. This book turned those feelings toward each other around. It was quite refreshing to witness them both search for peace in their lives before entertaining a relationship. They both recognized that it was a vital piece missing and went in search of it. It excites me when people recognize their purpose in life and that is exactly what happened with Meek and Jalissa. His invitation to the butterfly farm was the gateway to Jalissa's healing. Meek and Jalissa's lives resemble the transformation process of a butterfly. My heart still broke 💔 for Jalissa, I do wish she had more closure from her father. It seems she is going to have to put the puzzle together using her siblings and mother. She was able to build a closer sibling relationship that was enlightening for everyone.

This is one of those books that makes you feel good with a hint of melodrama. The healing and soul searching each character did was rejuvenating. I am hoping to read more on these characters in the near future maybe they will do a pop-up. I would love to read about them tying the knot 👰🏾🤵🏾and expanding the family. 👶🏾👶🏾 If you haven't experienced Meek and Jalissa you should. The chemistry started in "The Piece I Needed," so start there. You can then indulge in this masterpiece.

Black Explotation N word used to describe Hero by the Hero himself

The N word uttered from the lips of a supposedly professional man. I don't think so. I got through the first book and I love that this author writes about black professionals but I find a few discrepancies. Why do a black author have black characters identifying black people but not white.

Example: "I saw a large black man". In both books this description was included.

I read first book as a suggestion from this one. However, I am done with this author lack of crossover potential. She can't even cross over within her own race.. I refuse to be around people who use the N word as the only ones are know are typically teenagers, degenerates and people who run in criminal circles.

My entire adult life the N word has not been in the vocabulary of anyone I know intimately. Or else they don't utter it freely in mix company.

This book significantly limits itself by having a hero using that word. I can't relate nor can I swoon for his love. I wouldn't want to dete him, nor even be around someone who as an adult would use the N word to describe him self.

It's tacky and strange for an adult who is degreed in engineering and traveling the world to speak that way. Shame her books seem so interesting except for that.

It was okay

I'm kinda over the angry-and-scorned female protagonist trend that I've read SO much of recently, so that alone dimmed my enthusiasm some.

I didn't vibe with the story as much as I expected. Jalissa was all over the place, Meek seemed to have no issue dropping that celibacy vow, and Danai and her husband were rather nosey. It just seemed like they went rather fast from being mere acquaintances to talking about forever. And the argument about the woman seemed very I-need-a-conflict-to-break-them-up-so-let's-just-throw-this-in to me.

It wasn't bad; just okay.

Good Read!!!

Jalissa and Meek knew each other through each other's best friends. Jalissa didn't have a good relationship with her father which interfere with the other relationships in her life and Meek was a changed man who had been wanting to be with Jalissa. I really enjoyed this book even though Jalissa worked my nerves at times. I was glad that Jalissa was able to work through her issues and woman up and decide to work on all of the relationships in her life including Meek.

Good read

I enjoyed this story about Jalissa and Meek. Jalissa had some serious dad issues and she almost missed out on a good guy. Meek knew he needed to make some changes in life so he could become a better person. There was chemistry between the two of them that couldn't be denied.

🥰

This was a well written story, I didn’t like Jalissa lol…she definitely had daddy issues and pulled everyone man into a category w/o getting to know them. Meek was that man, he could be a book bae for sure. It’s the truth that you shouldn’t connect your energy with just anyone because that peace is not the same for everyone.

sweet love

I enjoyed the journey of Meek and Jalisa. This book was short but full. It’s not easy to deal with the issues they had in such a wonderful way in such a short time but she did it beautifully.
