Guys in College

Rate this book
This collection of short stories is taken from my website,
MatthewHaldemanTime . com. I noticed that I had similar themes running through my work - - a lot of stories about guys in college, some located in the workplace, others centered around cars - - so I decided to group them together into tidy little sets. This particular set of stories features college tudents.

You’ll meet Jason, a goth artist, and Trent, a superb athlete, in “Incredible” and its sequel, “Stupid Question.”

The next story, “Purple and Magenta,” takes place in the library, as Austin tries to study.

No collection of college-based erotica would be complete without a set of roommates, so read “Ten Weird Things,” where freshman Eric figures out how to get closer to his new roommate, David. Then we’re back in the library again for “Cool” with boyfriends Ryan and Danny.

After lightening things up in the dining hall in “Cruel, Cruel World,” we move on to “Two Bodies,” where Cory teaches Bruce a bit about physics.

At the end of this book, you’ll find the beginning of my web series, “In This Land.” Read the introduction first, to let one of the series’ characters give you a bit of an explanation, and then delve right in!

You can read the rest of “In This Land,” and a lot more fiction, at my site, MatthewHaldemanTime . com.

There are times when I don’t want to read about a lot of emotional angst. Sometimes an easy, sexy and sweet storyline hit’s the right spot for me. I am normally disappointed in anthologies. Most of the time there are MAYBE one or two stories in the book that keep my interest. I can honestly say that I pretty much liked all of the stories in this book. Since it is written by the same author, I am coming to the conclusion that I like his sweet and easy style of writing.

Plus, the book was FREE, so how could I go wrong? All the stories are based around guys in college.

Incredible

Jason has had a crush on Trent for a while now. Jason goes to Trent’s swimming practice everyday and sketches him or just watches him swim. Jason doesn’t think that Trent would ever notice a guy like him. Trent is popular, smart and runs with the jocks, whereas, Jason is an artist, sarcastic and Goth. (love those Goth guys!)
But, Jason doesn’t know that Trent has noticed him on more than one occasion and has been intrigued by the quiet and more sullen Jason.
Knowing that Jason will never come to him, Trent approaches Jason and asks him on a date.
Knowing he and Trent have nothing in common, Jason’s mind says no, but his heart says yes.
Does opposites attract or will it be a disaster?

Stupid Question

Trent and Jason have been dating for several months. Despite being totally opposite of one another, they are making it work together.
While Jason is at a party with his friends, Trent is alone in Jason’s room thinking about his relationship and feelings for Jason. He comes to the realization that he loves Jason…eyeliner and all.
When Jason returns early from the party, Trent is anxious to tell Jason of his new founded feelings, but is afraid of how Jason might react.
Will Jason return his feelings or push Trent away?
I love Jason and Trent. Jason is such a smart ass and since it takes one to know one, I thought he was fun to get to know. I hate that Trent and Jason’s story was so short, but MAYBE one day Mr. Haldeman will write some more about them.

Purple and Magenta

Austin is stuck in the library. His roommate has claimed their room for several hours and he doesn’t have anywhere to go. Bored out of his mind, and unable to keep his mind on his studies, he starts to people watch.
He strikes up a conversation with a cute guy named Owen, who he mistakenly thinks has a twitch (you’ll have to read why he thinks that)
They hit it off and go for a date.
Very cute and short story. Austin’s inner dialog was quite funny at times. I liked it.

Ten Weird Things

Eric and David are roommates and complete opposites. Since they don’t have much in common they struggle to make conversation with each other. As time goes by, Eric starts noticing David more and becomes attracted to him. They start easing into friendship and start communicating with one another better. One of the things that David has started doing is reading a really weird thing that someone has done or happened to them from this book. This becomes a quick tradition with them, and soon Eric and David start really looking forward to the next crazy thing David will read about.
This really breaks the ice between them and soon they are fighting an attraction and feelings for one another. Will they act on those feelings or will they let a good thing pass them by?
Once again, I liked both characters. I thought the story was short and sweet.

Cool

Cool is about Danny and Ryan. They are an established couple who reminisce about how they met and they explore their feelings for one another. Very sexy and sweet.

Two Bodies

Bruce is a mechanic who likes to sleep around. At twenty-five he is struggling to make ends meet. When he hears from a friend that he can do an online porno for some quick and easy cash, he jumps at the chance. When he arrives at his destination, he meets the guy he is to have sex with, Cory. Cory is nothing like Bruce usually goes for. Smart, cute and innocent, Bruce is immediately infatuated with Cory. Not only does the sex rock Bruce’s world, but he finds himself feeling things for Cory he has never felt before.
When the session is over and Cory leaves, Bruce realizes he must get to know Cory better and have him in his life.
Will he find Cory? When he does will Cory think he is a crazy stalker or a potential boyfriend?
I liked this story. The bigger player they are, the harder they fall. I liked that Cory made Bruce squirm some. They were fun to read about.

All the stories were enjoyable. I really liked this book and look forward to reading more from this Matthew Haldeman-Time.
Since he is giving this book as a free download, here is the link to his webpage www.matthewhaldemantime.com or you can access by going to Luna.com.

If you are offended by Gay Romance and Sex this book is not for you.

4-4.5 stars. Since I liked ALL of the stories and the book is FREE from the author, I'll bump it up to 5 stars.

I really liked first stories and would really love more Jason and Trent sequals. However, when I got to This Land I could not finish that long story. I understand it is an ongoing serial that he adds to but I simply could not get past the first dozen pages and care about the characters.

Incredible & Stupid Question

Two short storie by the collection Guys in College by Matthew Haldeman-Time.

Trent was a swimmer: tall, tan, blond, all muscle and open behaviour. Jason is a goth punk, with black dyed hair, pale, slim and with far more jewelry on. They are an unlikely couple... they are a great couple.

The two stories tell the beginning and the happily ever after of their relationship, so I ask to Mister Haldeman-Time: where is the rest? These are two intriguing stories that make a perfect plot for a long story... would you consider to write it? if yes, tell me, I will be in line to buy it.

Two Bodies

Another little surprise in the "Guys in College" collection by Matthew Haldeman-Time.

Bruce is a 25 years old mechanic who love sex, more and often. He have no serial problems in his life, maybe he is only a bit short of money. So he agrees to act in a home made porno. He must only make sex with another guy, so where is the problem? He has sex almost every night...

The other guy is Cory: an eighteen years old physics student who needs money to eat; he is to occupy with his studies to have an half time job, so he thinks to make some simple money in this way... but Cory is very young and very... virgin. He has never has sex and he has barely kissed someone.

That first night Bruce is drunk and he is rude and fast and... he falls in love. And know he has to prove to Cory that he could be the right guy for him, and the ONLY guy for him.

Bruce is no so cultered like Cory, but he is open and sincere. He has a simple good life, and he is willingly to surrender his heart to Cory. Cory is like all the young: a little egoist and very demanding, but in the end he is not a bad guy and Bruce wants to give him all.

Like for Incredible and its sequel Stupid Question, also for this story I would like to read more: about the life together, for example. But also like this, it's a very enjoyble reading (and a very arousal sex scene also!)
