BOOK #22: REVOLUTIONARY WAR ON WEDNESDAY: Jack and Annie travel back to the time of the American Revolution and help Gen. George Washington during his famous crossing of the Delaware River.

BOOK #23: TWISTER ON TUESDAY: Jack and Annie travel back to the Kansas prairie and gain an understanding of how hard life was for pioneers when they experience the terror of a tornado.

BOOK #24: EARTHQUAKE IN THE EARLY MORNING: The Magic Tree House takes Jack and Annie to San Francisco in 1906, in time for them to experience one of the biggest earthquakes the United States had ever known.

About the author

Mary Pope Osborne is an American author of children's books and audiobook narrator. She is best known as the author of the Magic Tree House series, which as of 2017 sold more than 134 million copies worldwide. Both the series and Osborne have won awards, including for Osborne's charitable efforts at promoting children's literacy. One of four children, Osborne moved around in her childhood before attending the University of North Carolina. Following college, Osborne traveled before moving to New York City. She somewhat spontaneously began to write, and her first book was published in 1982. She went on to write a variety of other children's and young adult books before starting the Magic Tree House series in 1992. Osborne's sister Natalie Pope Boyce has written several compendium books to the Magic Tree House series, sometimes with Osborne's husband Will Osborne.

This set of books in the Magic Tree House series really showed Osborne's creativity. Jack and Annie were sent on random missions that had one ultimate goal (rescuing an enchanted puppy in 17-20 and saving Camelot in 21-24). Jack and Annie brought back random items from each set of missions and Osborne was able to weave those unrelated items into a storyline and lesson for Jack and Annie. I thought it was very creative and would appeal to my students as readers.

I have read number 17 of this list, Tonight On The Titanic. This is a very informational book that gives many facts about the Titanic. It would be a great read aloud book when talking about the titanic as a class. The book uses very descriptive words to make you feel like you are with them that night on the titanic. I would use this book within a classroom setting as a read aloud or as a resource for students when learning about the titanic.

This book is a great read for those who need a combination of history and learning based elements with elements of creativity and adventure. This is the story of Jack and Annie who go back in their Magic Tree House to the times of the Revolutionary War. They are put in the moment where George Washington is about to attack, and they need to keep history on track. This booknis great because it engages readers with a fun and adventurous plot and problem, and at the dame time gives information about history and can help interest them in history and other subject matters outside of literature!

This is very informative for a children's book, and brings hard to tackle topics down to a children's understanding. I loved these books as a kid, and can understand that love still, now that I am an adult.

Some of this was probably pretty heavy for my 4 y.o. daughter. I didn’t ask any comprehension questions on the Civil War and Revolutionary War books, though I probably should have. She still seemed to enjoy it. I fell asleep during a couple of these books while we listened

My son and I just finished this set of Magic Treehouse books and it was another enjoyable set.

The first four focus on getting gifts from various people/things to give to Morgan and Jack and Annie go off on these missions. I enjoyed Tonight on the Titanic the best, as did my 8-year-old, but the other three stories were great as well.

The next four focused on getting special writings from various people and this time Jack and Annie were working to save a boy who had been turned into a dog. Jack and Annie named the dog Teddy and later Teddy shows up to help them in more books (we had already read these so we knew about Teddy.)

I really enjoyed these four stories, two centering on wars (I learned about Hessians in the Revolutionary War) and two centering on natural disasters. Things were learned in all four books and I really enjoyed them, as they taught and they were very entertaining.

My son is now ready to move onto the next set and I look forward to reading more of Jack and Annie's adventures.

I can't recommend these books enough for a 6-10 age range. The audios are read by the author and very well done. My son and I look forward to our time in the car when we can listen to these.

This book swept me away to this other wonderful world. The setting was brilliantly set. I could totally see it in my mind. But the characters were definitely my favorite part. They are all so colorful, interesting, exciting, and hilarious. The main character is just perfect. The plot moved fast enough that I couldn't stop reading lest I miss something, but the author still took the time to flesh out the details. The details are what really make or break a story.
