I read lots of books like this so thought there weren't many ways to save the planet I didn't already know about! However I was wrong and I finished this book with a list of new inspiring tips. The 'digital' chapter especially was an eye-opener and not a subject I'd thought about before. Laura's a really likeable narrator; she admits she's not perfect and is very relatable. The state of the planet is a sobering issue but if everyone made just a few changes in their lives it could make a real difference and this book is full of simple ideas as to how to do that.
There are so many Save The Planet books out there, but so few of them are written based on the UK! What I love about this book is that there are so many facts based on Britain, rather than the US. Also, the pictures and facts about her daughter are really inspiring for children who want to save the planet (and very cute!) Also, it is wonderful that this family is not an all-or-nothing type eco-warriors; they just do their bit and are very relatable. A great read!
A brilliant catch-all for all things climate change, all the key elements covered: planes, cars, household, garden, shipping, recycling, etc... Lots of little practical things that I didn't have quite right like don't recycle the greasy parts of your pizza box, or dishwashers are more green than washing-up...
As someone in the know, who works in this area I still found some useful tips and reminders of things I can do to make a difference. I also found the “stripes” very interesting and searched for my local big city… Very easy read - the type of book you can dip into and dip out. I also love the purpose…the letter to her daughter.
