Don's Blaze

Rate this book
I refuse to give my heart to any man again. Especially not one who is a playboy firefighter. And definitely not my brother’s best friend… It doesn’t require being a former cop or having my PI license to know that Don Alvarez thinks he’s smoking hot. I’m surprised the Rescue Four’s fire investigator has enough energy left to investigate fires with all the women he has lined up. But when my brother gets injured on the job, Don’s sense of duty propels him to track down the arsonist before anyone else gets hurt. And my connections are just what he needs to help him make a breakthrough on the case. I refuse to fall victim to another womanizer, although if teaming up with Don means getting justice for my brother, I’ll take the heat. But, wow, is it hot around here since I’ve discovered there’s more to Don than his charming bravado. With a heart bigger than his reputation, and wicked sense of humor guaranteed to make me laugh, the sexy firefighter has a way of burning straight past my defenses. But when the arsonist sets their sights on me, I think I’ve made the mistake of realizing my true feelings too late…

Another winner from Tiffany Patterson!

Don the jokester finally gets his story and I loved it. Best of all I got my revenge fix. I didn't love how Corey handled his trauma because it went on too long, but he was there when it counted. Fingers crossed that both Corey and Sean get a story.

Highly Recommended. Read it!

I hate I have to write this

I started reading this book and became annoyed. So I stopped reading it thinking it was my own personal issues getting in the way of me enjoying my favorite author's book. A week or so later, I am back reading it and still annoyed. The books are all the same. I do hope Corey gets his own story. Jocelyn annoyed me the most. It seems like depending on her relationship status determined how well she did her job. I loved hearing about Carter. He's my favorite. As always, I will still support and read anything by Tiffany Patterson and I will always give an honest review.

Don, Smokin' Hot!

Don! Seemed like a jokester playboy to most, but he loved his squad, friends and family. The demons that plagued him, made him fiercely loyal to those he loved. Jocelyn, was a beast working her PI business. But, trusting men in any capacity was a negative! After the accident, with Don and Jocelyn joining forces to find answers, turned up the heat of their attraction. Don couldn't believe he wanted all the things he teased his crew about. Jocelyn was soured on love from past experiences. But, something felt different with Don. They worked together, looking for the guy causing all the chaos, and fell in love in the process. I held my breath toward the end, as I wasn't sure if you were going to break my heart of not! Imagine my surprise when not only did things work out, but the person who save him was everything! Good read! 👍👍👍

I’ve been waiting for this book and it was a little different than expected but much appreciated. The romance drama was very low, which I love. Both characters worked through their issues, while growing closer and deciding what all that means and how to handle it. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Don as a romantic hero and getting to truly know all facets to his character. I honestly loved Jocelyn from beginning end, her jadedness, fear and vulnerability, coupled with her doggedness regarding her job. They both make you smile with their warmth in completely different ways.
I loved that the “drama” was surrounded around the targeting of Rescue Four and resolving that mystery in Don’s book was just perfect for me. While I still hope for at least 2 more books in this series, this was a wonderful way to round this plot line out. I am so grateful.

Great Read

Hot, Hot, Hot, this book was amazing Tiffany Patterson but I expected nothing less. I’m ready for the next book from Rescue Four, and I can’t say who is my favorite. I was so happy that Don and Jocelyn got their happy ever after and was finally able to find the arsonists. This is definitely a must read series.

He saved her

Firefighter Don Alvarez could not save his mother, but he saved the love of his life. The arsonist was targeting Rescue Four and Don was determined to find out who and why. Jocelyn Stephens was jaded in more ways than one when it came to love and fidelity. Whether it was her father, ex, or men she investigated as a P.I., she did not believe men could be faithful, and falling in love would lead to a broken heart. She felt the same way about Don until they had to work together to solve the arsonist situation.

Don used the investigation to get closer to his best friend’s sister, a woman he was instantly attracted to at the police academy graduation some years ago. He had to temper his feelings when he found out whose sister she was. He had to find out who the arsonist was, the person who destroyed his best friend’s life and it didn’t hurt to use the expertise of Corey’s sister, Jocelyn. And when he found out they had gaming in common, all bets were off. There was only one problem, he had to work through Jocelyn’s fear of love.

Tiffany always brings a good story to the table. However, the setup at the beginning of the storyline was a little boring to me. However, I understand getting the backstory out as what influenced Don in becoming a firefighter and why he was so determined to find the arsonist. We also see how Jocelyn evolved from being dead set against love to seeing how love can be through a client of hers, to longing for that love with Don.

What a treat!

I literally stop everything to read this book. Even though it seems like everyone and their pet was against me trying to read it.

But I absolutely love the Rescue 4 fire men. They're hot, loyal, protective, and alpha! They really know how to get the girl, treat a girl, and lock a girl down. 🤭❤

And Don did exactly just that, once he made it clear to Jocelyn that he loves her and he's not going anywhere, he locked her down. ❤❤❤❤❤

This book left me with great satisfaction, not only did we get to see glimpses of the two Townsend boys ( Carter & Tyler ). But also they manage to solve the arson case. The story behind the bad guy is one that is truly sad, ( & I love when an author can make their reader feel some sadness from the bad guy.) But at the same time what he's done with setting places on fire is NOT okay. Glad that Don felt the same way.

One thing that had me feeling slightly sad about is the fact that Corey last pop in, where he FINALLY talks to Don and starts being himself somewhat. I kind of wish he was more productive in this book, and made more of an effort to talk with Don.

But Tiffany Patterson left enough crumbs that had me curious about a couple things concerning Corey. So much so that I can't wait to see what to come next.

I'm so excited!!

Gonna finish out the series since its one of very few newer IR on my Scribd subscription that I haven't read.

More of the same, very alpha hero, appears to be open but very shocked to be falling. But again with the redundant sentences. "I cleared my throat to swallowing the guilt that began closing my throat."
Makes me rub my temples.
This isn't bad writing and the series provides decent heat with overall enjoyable stories with a tiny bit of thrill factor as he backdrop since they have a potential serial arsonist to deal with. Its just little things that keep it from living up to full potential.
OK, Don wins the Series MVP for dicking this woman down and then putting her bonnet back on her head when he was finished. In fact, that might be the best move I've seen in IR.

This series seems to just about follow an Alpha Swoon playbook. Situations that are guaranteed to make women's hearts go pitter patter if they like possessive men. Like its obvious pandering and nothing wrong with that, I just like mine a bit more subtle. Still the author has talent for the genre and its fairly entertaining.

1.0⭐️ I am a real fan of this author; however, I am unable to get immersed in this book or to connect with the female character, Jocelyn. Thus far, the book is sheer boredom. Curiosity about the identity of a possible arsonist doesnt have enough impetus to advance the story and ramp up the suspenseful aspect of the story for me. There just isn’t enough here at this juncture to hold my attention. Additionally, if Don and Jocelyn have been sniffing around each other for a few years, and nothing of import has really occurred between them, well, then, these two adults hold little interest for me—ya see, I am not a big fan of the slow burn.

Further, I noted some very egregious errors, e.g., wrong name mix-up, as well as other editing hiccups. That is not something I expected to encounter from a book penned by this author.

Hence, I am abandoning this book at the 32% mark mainly because I’m bored out of my skull, and there is nothing intriguing to compel me to keep reading.

Don and Jocelyn😍😍

I've been anticipating Don 's story. It was on point . Intriguing, this story kept me wondering , who's doing this? Don and Jocelyn are hilarious, sexy and a great team. It was fun learning about Don and Jocelyn's almost encounters. I enjoyed catching up with the characters from previous books. Will Corey have a story? Awesome storyline!I💗

This book just didn’t hit like the rest of the series. I didn’t connect with either Don or Joycelyn. Didn’t swoon at their love story or think anything was sweet about it. The storyline itself was fine. Catching the arsonist but it didn’t flow for me and I forced myself through it. Unfortunately there always seems to be the one book in TPs series that misses the mark for me and this was it in the rescue 4 series.

I really like TP's books [OBVIOUSLY] - and I also liked Don way more than I expected. Like obviously you know he's a good guy and such - but he had such depth!
The ... ok so the fire - the ~last one ... oof.

But! I liked this so much I signed up for TP's newsletter and got the bonus deleted scenes from this book and awwwww <3

Jocelyn too.
I'm kinda wondering what's up with Cory ...

And I will say TP TOTALLY had me snowed on who the baddie was.

There were some hints - Jocelyn's client I really wish she'd tried to look into it because the whole book was how she's such a badass and great at her job etc ... but that was a big drop the ball thing. AND - to preserve the plot - she wouldn't even have had to have FOUND him found him - but at least had been LOOKING.

The thing with her new friend though - MJ and Kelvin I think?!? <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Man. I'd like to read their story <3
[AND SO GLAD KELVIN IS A GOOD GUY!] => Kinda knew that from Tyler's book/he wouldn't be best friends with a bad guy ...

I will say it pretty weirded me out that TP was name dropping herself in her own book. And does it twice! Like .... ALSO the plot holes though like - what happens if/when [the secretary] reads Don and Jocelyn's book? 🙄
And ... like - Don has been around. And Cory. How'd she not figure they're the SAME same.
I just ...
*shakes head*

Then also - can't go through this without mentioning ... yes there are a number of grammar and spelling errors. :|
Obviously not enough to stop me from reading TP - but I just ... wish she had more/better editing.
It does hold me back from recommending her to readers I know would love her but for the technical issues.

Anyway - I can definitely see myself re-reading this book - and I'm sad I only have ONE more TP book to read AFAIK.

This book? solid C maaaaaaybe C+

I was so desperately waiting for the Fourth book of Rescue Four and was intrigued about finding out who the arsonist was. Anyway, this book is my second favorite from Carter's Flame, it would have been my first favorite if it weren't for Don killing the arsonist. I get it that the arsonist was a crazy killer, however, I felt there was enough evidence to bring the guy to justice and keep his butt in jail for life. But Don killing the guy doesn't make him any better than the arsonist. Not even Carter who desperately wanted to kill Garcia, in "Carter's Flame" didn't kill the guy. That was the only part of this book that I found a bit disturbing. However, Don's character is great and Tiffany Patterson does a great job by providing us with a deep understanding of who Don really is. He's not some player that doesn't believe in love and sees women as an object. I hope there may be a fifth book on this series.

Great Quick Read

The book was good and I enjoyed the slow burn build up of the relationship between the main characters. This book was a nice conclusion to the Rescue 4 series. I only had 2 issues with this book. First, the villain had his issues with the department but I think the book would’ve had more depth if the characters took responsibility for the way they treated the rookies (exasperated the bad feelings within the villain). I suspect other readers wouldn’t probably agree since these men are supposed to be considered Alphas. Secondly, for an author of her stature, there were a lot of grammatical errors. I was surprised to see that and it’s the reason why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. When you get lost in a book, nothing disrupts the flow more than trying to figure out what the author meant due to the errors. Still, I enjoyed the story and will continue to read more works by Tiffany Patterson.

Don Alvarez could not save his mother when he was younger, and the guilt of that situation was hard to let go of. An arsonist has been targeting Rescue Four and Don is determined to figure out who the individual is.
Jocelyn would not open her heart to love due to her father and ex infidelity. Plus, she was in the business of investigating unfaithful relationships. That profession would make any woman cynical. With the investigation, Don realizes he needs a little help and involves Jocelyn. Their chemistry is off the chain. There is a little history with these two. You will enjoy it. I really hope Corey gets a story. I really feel he deserves a happy ending. Please, Tiffany!!! You will enjoy reading Don and Jocelyn's story. I love a mystery. Especially figuring out who the arsonist is. He is one demented individual.

blazing hot

Okay Don! You better go after what’s yours and let nothing get in your way!
Don was a hot and sexy firefighter who was loyal to his station, fire fighters, and all who were in his life. There’s been a series of fires that he thinks were arson but the powers that be aren’t willing to investigate it further. His best friend and fellow firefighter lost a leg in ones of those fires.
Jocelyn is a PI who was a former cop so she has a ton of experience. Her father was a firefighter and her brother is on leave due to loosing one of his legs while battling a fire.
These two have been having fiery encounters for years but just let the smoke billow and the embers simmer. Now that Don has decided to fan the flame, these two single status will go out in a blaze of glory and the arsonist will burn in hell.
Great read!

Reminiscing

This has me nostalgic of the characters before Don, but I'm so happy to finally read his HEA. I just knew they had a spark and it sure nuff did not disappoint. I love how Tiffany introduced all these characters and I CAN NOT WAIT until I get to read their HEA. ALSO, I wonder if something going on with Captain and Joce mom???? The juice juice is right there with them two. Next I'm sure is Corey and Hallease or Cameron with Hallease....either way, Hallease deserves a little spicey romance in her life. Anywho, I love and enjoy everything, can't wait for the next series!

Hot Blaze

Ahhh, another amazing Rescue Four book, Don surprised me a bit, he may goofed around a lot but we learn that's how these guys deal with heavy situations regarding their jobs. Yes Don plays a lot but he's also a serious guy who wants what his friends have, a family of his own. With Jocelyn Don will get that but for it to happened both have to let go of the past, when Don makes up his mind he doesn't sit on it, he does what he realized he wanted, that's for Jocelyn to be his. I enjoy a lot of books from this author, she gives us exactly what we're looking for, if I could give this book more stars, I would.

This book has everything you need!

I love firefighters and I love rescue four! Don and Jocelyn were so funny to me especially Jocelyn. Acting like their dates weren't dates. She was in big denial lol. This was definitely a good all around novel. The mystery that started in previous novels was so well played out. And it didn't feel forced like she was trying to add some mystery and suspense to a romance novel. It all flowed so well together. There was just the right amount of heat as well. Is this the end of stories from rescue four? I certainly hope not.

Great Series

I really like this series, I loved Don and Jocelyn as a couple. They both had some troubling pasts that they had to overcome but Don was super patient with Jocelyn and basically wouldn’t take no for an answer, no matter how many times Jocelyn pushed him away. I liked the backstory of the arsonist too, added a nice whodonit element to the story. I wish the characters in the previous books had more page time and my perennial complaint is the stories end so abruptly. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

A Little Disappointed…

I loved both Don and Jocelyn’s characters, but their story was missing something for me. This book does make me want to go back and read some of Tiffany Patterson’s past books, because I forgot somethings that I would like to revisit that were revealed in them.

I hope Hallease gets a story, she was a refreshingly sweet character that did not let her livelihood impact her romantic beliefs.

I also wonder if Corey will have a story of his own. Who sent the articles?

A cool love story

I liked that the drama was nor based on the couple dancing back and forth about their feelings / attraction for each other. They had an easy, natural
friendship which developed into a serious relationship. I fell in love with Don's character too, rugged but handsome.
I appreciated the easy flow of the story. I was unedge for the gala scene though, I expected the coward to strike then.
There were quite a few typos that were not rectified during the editing process which is the reason for the rating.

Of all of the men of Rescue Four, I have been waiting for Don’s book the longest, especially since he was always the “I Laugh at How Whipped my Friend’s Are with Their Significant Others” guy. I had hoped that maybe he would be less similar to Carter and Emanuel, but alas….as with all the other Patterson MMC, he fell first, AND he fell hard. And just cultured enough to love his black woman with her scarf on….I am eye-rolling, and I am eye-rolling HARD.

Insert the “It’s just not realistic” GIF.

Main sentiment: I was fighting feeling underwhelmed the entire book. And considering this book is the finale of the “Who is the arsonist” storyline, it was just meh.

Don’s Blaze is a mystery romance, as well as a best friend’s sister romantic trope. The fourth book in the series picks up on the arson storyline from book 3. It also tells the love story of Don and Joycelyn. Joycelyn who is the sister to his best friend, Corey. Corey who was injured so badly in a fire the arsonist set that he can’t go back to being a firefighter.

What makes the book so interesting is that quite a bit of the story is about the fires the firefighters work. As well as the arson story, and the love story. It all combines to make an interesting story to read.

Don Can Get It!

Tiffany has done it again! I love her writing style. Don, the player, the prankster, swore love was for the wusses, but little did they know, he was secretly desiring one person..... Jocelyn. Now Jocelyn comes with her own set a hang-ups, but secretly her walls was crumbling for one man. Take a wild guess! I love that Tiffany mixes romance with a little danger and the plots are totally different. This one is no exception!

Started a little slow

So at first, the book started just a tad slow. We're I normally read one of Ms. Patterson's books in a day,bit took 2. But it truly was a slow build up to a beautiful love story. Don was 100% sure of his desires and Jocey was wavering on the fence. However, it didn't take her long to get her act together and her mind made up. Very happy with the outcome.

This was definitely my least favorite out of the rescue four guys. I just kept thinking Don really had no hard evidence of an arsonist. I’m normally a fan of the brothers best friend trope but this one felt kind of like a stretch in the sense that their first “date” happened years ago. then they didn’t really have any much interaction with each other then boom seriously committed relationship. Well I continue to read Ms. Patterson’s book absolutely this one just wasn’t one of my faves
