This book brings me back to the core truths of the Gospel that I miss too often.

Too often I let the shame of sin lie to me and say that my sinfulness is my identity. Whereas in truth I am a new creation (2 Cor 5:17), I've been born of God (John 1:12-13) and have escaped the corruption of the world (2 Peter 1:4)!

I am a good seed
I've been planted in the new covenant into a spiritual family
God will nourish me
Time is my friend
I will fulfill God's purpose for my life

Quotes:
- Many Christians believe they are a bad seed... The assumption is that the presence of sinful desires and actions speak to our identity
- Righteousness = the state of being right before God
- If we do not know the truth, that comes to us through the Gospel, through Jesus, we will spend years of our Christian life wrestling with a sinful identity that Jesus has already crucified on the cross.
- One of the primary ways God grows his children in the new covenant is by simply bestowing His love upon them
- Part of the problem is we've valued being productive over being fruitful. Being productive is about eliminating efficiency and maximizing the use of our time so we can produce more. Being fruitful is about tapping into God's design and fulfilling the unique purpose for which we were created.
- Now that you are born again, your first and primary calling is to learn to belong to Christ.

Best book I’ve ever read on discipleship

I bought and read your new book already this morning. It is excellent and will be like a handbook for me going forward to refer to constantly. Kind of disorienting how we make simple things complicated and how quickly our well intended moral habits and upbringing are a slippery slope to self sanctification and works leading to burnout.
