They say the past is the past. An MIT grad student with a time machine is out to prove otherwise. Having lost the love of his life in a tragic car accident the year before, he is determined to jump back in time to rewrite history. But a new love interest has a secret that can stop him dead in his tracks.
When Zac Taylor loses his fiancé in an auto accident, his promising academic career crashes and burns with her. After a year of self-imposed exile and an unsuccessful suicide attempt, he returns to MIT, where his advisor persuades him to complete his dissertation in quantum physics.
Rachel Lockhart moves to Cambridge looking for information and lands a job as Zac’s research assistant. Zac doesn’t want an assistant, especially one who reminds him of his dead fiancé. Despite his reluctance and her ulterior motive, they grow close.
Zac’s experiments produce an unexpected result—time travel. When his time machine is stolen, he must retrieve it and outrun everyone on his mission to save the love of his life.
After years of working in the banking industry in The Finger Lakes Region of Central New York, David Homick left his suits behind for a more casual gig as a freelance Web Designer. He loves the creative aspect of his work, which was not something that was encouraged growing up. Perhaps it’s all that pent up creative energy that has motivated him to express himself now between the covers of a book.
Homick weaves a touch of metaphysical wisdom and inspiration into intriguing, suspenseful, contemporary love stories and mysteries. He believes that fiction should do more than entertain. Good fiction causes us to see ourselves and our world in a different light, creating an emotional resonance that remains with us long after the final page has been read.
Many readers will in some way identify with his characters, whose outer circumstances and inner demons stand in the way of the love and sense of belonging that they seek. Their journeys have many twists and turns, and at times seems hopeless, but through perseverance they learn the key to building meaningful relationships and creating the life they ultimately deserve. Of course, we should never rule out a clever twist of fate or subtle divine intervention along the way.
One of the underlying themes of his writing, as well as his life, was inspired by a favorite quote from George Eliot. "It's never too late to be what you might have been."
I so appreciate a book that catches my interest right from the get-go and stays that way til the end. Likable characters, a small dog that actually plays an important role, romance, danger, and time travel- get ready for an enjoyable read! Despite being a relatively lite, quick read, several interesting questions come up about the contributions and costs of science, the common good versus personal gain, and an invitation to reflect on what personal choices you might make in a similar situation.
Another great book by author David Homick. Interesting, believable characters, and intriguing and well thought out plot. Enough suspense to keep you interested - it was hard for me to put down. Very enjoyable and easy read!
This isn’t an easy read, you must keep up. I enjoyed reading this book and Mr. Homick’s characters. The story does go at a pretty fast pace and quite a bit happens. Keep up!
Exciting page turner from the very first page. Interesting characters, fast paced, thrilling, compelling cannot put down book. Great ending and I for one am praying for a sequel.
I thoroughly enjoyed the latest work from Mr Homick. I was captivated from the very beginning. The characters were interesting and well developed, and the storyline kept you wanting more.
After reading “From Time to Time” It couldn’t quite reach 5 stars for me as I found Zac and Rachel’s continuing half truths to each other very irritating. Now that’s not saying I didn’t like David Homick’s book because all in all I found it very refreshing and I read it basically in one sitting, so much so that when I finished it I went straight on to pick out another of his books and read that one in one sitting too. A good time travel book for a rainy day.
The author does a fantastic job at character development. He leads the reader down one path, giving subtle hints along the way. What would I label the genre? A mix of romance, mystery, sci-fi, and suspense. I enjoyed the book a lot but struggled with the (in my view), sci-fi component of the novel. While good, I enjoyed this author's first novel better.
Solid Time Travel Tale With Romantic subplot. Fun.
Mr. Homick has created a fast-paced temporal displacement novel with strong romantic overtones and a boo-hiss-boo set of villains intent on screwing things up. Disappointing ending looks like it is headed toward sequelville, with no advance warning.
Loved this book. Homick continues his tradition of unique and satisfying stories. This one is more of a thriller than his others, with a universal message and a romantic storyline with a twist I didn’t see coming.
I have enjoyed this book. It took me a while to figure the plot out. Zac lived with a guilty conscience and continued working on his invention to save Harper but Rachel would die if he did.
Another David Homick novel. A little bit out there and different than the others. More a bit scientific in its writing. But it did not turn me off. If anything, I wanted to know more and where the story was headed and going. Kept me very intrigued and fascinated.
