Covens of Eaton Falls #4

Cosmic Spells and Vampire Lairs

Rate this book
Are we destined to be star-crossed lovers or is Fate on our side?

My friends are finding mates while I’m stuck with a sexy but silent vampire. Sure, Pietro is everything a boy could want- handsome, strong, brooding, and possessive. It’s just that with my gift, I’m well aware that he’s not the one fate has in store for me. He couldn’t be. For one thing, his mercury is always in retrograde.

Besides, we have bigger issues to deal with than romance. We’re at war with a real jerk, and it’s only getting worse. If I’m going to be helpful, I’ll need to focus and listen to the stars, not stare at Pietro’s gorgeous face. I live my life with light and stardust while who even knows where Pietro’s thoughts are. Even I can’t get in his head.

Everything changes when we go on a quest to find a missing witch who just might be possessed. I meet a person who sees more than I do, and he’s got a feeling about me. If I listen to him, and convince the vampire it’s real, I might just get everything I ever hoped for. That is, if this war doesn’t ruin everything before it even begins.

Cosmic Spells and Vampire Lairs is an MM paranormal romance featuring a cosmic witch with his head in the stars, a pining and brooding vampire, more demons doing bad things, and a deepening mystery that leads to a dangerous discovery. It is book four in the Covens of Eaton Falls series. Each book features a different couple with an ongoing conflict and therefore should be read in order.

“Perhaps focus on pulling his attention away from the sky to see what is standing right in front of him.”

I stayed awake a bit past my bedtime because I just had to finish Callisto and Pietro's story. Some major discoveries are afoot in this book, but the majority was focused on the romance. These two were just so incredibly sweet yet when it comes to the bedroom so incredibly HOT!! Pietro made me swoon on more than one occasion when he'd express his feelings for Callisto.

"I will do my best for you. I have not loved, not like this, so please be patient as I learn how to love you."

I mean come on! How adorable is that. Callisto sure thought so and it was him who took the longest to come to terms with who they are to each other. It was a hard lesson to learn that the stars he looked upon so much for guidance could have been wrong. Thankfully, the signs were enough that Callisto was finally able to see that his mate was right in front him all long. Once he realized, the witch was all in and it was beautiful watching their relationship develop into their HEA.

"I am yours until the world ends and we are nothing but stardust again."

We meet a few side characters whom I found intriguing. One named Ares is a powerful seer who gives Callisto some good advice. I'd love to see more of him in the future. I already said there is forward movement on the story arc, but we also get a bit more insight into Willem's dilemma. I can see where the author is likely taking his story and I am 100% here for it. I really hope the prickly priest is next.

Pietro and Callisto are a truly swoon worthy couple. They have been there for each other since they became housemates whilst dealing with the threat against all paranormals. Pietro is wonderfully patient as he waits for Callisto to finally recognise that their mutual attraction means more than simply wanting to be physically intimate. Callisto is a beautiful witch who looks to the stars for answers for all things. He has become a real fave character of mine in this series. Important new things are learned regarding the fight against the Beautiful One and I am excited to see where this new information will lead in the next book. This is NOT meant to be read as a standalone. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Things are hotting up

Well there were some serious story arc developments in this book!

I liked the relationship between Pietro and Callisto, they took some time to process the attraction between them, well more that Callisto needed to trust the Fates rather than his star reading, but they got there in the end.

There are some huge plot reveals in the overall story which felt a little bit contrived but still worked in the general run of things.

This is continuing to be a very enjoyable series.

I am thoroughly enjoying the Coven of Eaton Falls series and Cosmic Spells and Vampire Lairs paired up another witch and vampire as well as answering some questions and raising more about the war being waged by the 'Beautiful One' against the magical community of Eaton Falls.

The witch Callisto has the gift of divination and has been paired up with the vampire Pietro who has a dark past. Both are drawn to each other but Callisto doesn't believe Pietro is his fated mate and Pietro wishes he was. I really liked Callisto and Pietro who seem to complement each other well, as Callisto says "You're the earth to my sky. You'll keep us grounded while I make sure we never lose the joy of wonder." So romantic. I liked how these two communicated and how open Callisto was to accepting 'the change' when it came to following his heart and his future. The relationship between Callisto and Pietro was really sweet and I could feel how much they cared about each other.

There are a few more discoveries and a trip to New Orleans to try and find their friend Prince who didn't fare too well in the previous book when he encountered the 'Beautiful One' and to hopefully find out some more information from the other coven's there. But more information also leads to more questions and more potential danger.

I am really enjoying uncovering the mystery behind the 'Beautiful One' alongside getting to know the other witches and vampires of Eaton Falls. I am looking forward to uncovering more in A Traitor Shows His Hand which is due out in March, I'm also hoping this will be Willem's turn to find his love or loves.

I’ve missed these vamps and witches. So I’m glad to be back to Eaton Falls. Despite the danger and risk facing them, they are finding their fated mates along the way.

Sweet, patient Pietro. He may see himself as dark and undeserving of love, but still he knows he wants to love Callisto, and he’s willing to wait as long as it takes for Callisto to feel the same.

Callisto needs time, he wants a fated mate, not a fling, and according to the stars he’s going to have to keep looking. But maybe the stars only reveal their truths when it’s needed.

In the meantime, even if they are fighting it, these two show how they feel through the small things, like Callisto helping Pietro to decorate so their temporary house feels more like a home. And how Pietro helps Callisto to see his worth. Seriously, they are cute and lovely.

“Look at us. A witch made of stardust and light with a vampire made of blood and darkness.”

All the while the investigation into the beautiful one heats up and the full reality of the danger becomes evident. It’s going to take all their skills and abilities to handle this threat. There may be a little nail-biting on my part happening as I wait for the rest of the books.

I really enjoyed Callisto and Pietro in this book. They commit to one another before they were even physical was wonderful! I also enjoyed the emphasis one star crossed lovers from a witch who connects with the stars. There wasn’t a lot of actual action in this book but the larger storyline was moved along a lot throughout and we got a TON of time with the characters from books past and books to come.

It’s been awhile since I read the previous books, but the over arching plot came back to me fairly quickly. I liked the romance between Peitro and Callisto, and I’m invested enough to read the next book.

Note: This is the fourth book in this series and contains major spoilers for the previous books and builds directly on a common story arc. It is recommended to read the series in order 🙂

This story picks up pretty much right after the events of the previous book. Callisto is a witch with seeing powers. He sees some pretty terrible things – some visions of the future and some things that are happening that he knows he needs to stop. He is living with Pietro, one of the vampire brothers. Pietro adores Callisto, but tries to stay away from him. He does not believe that he is deserving of such a beautiful and talented man. He tries to give Callisto space. For his part, Callisto wants what he sees his friends having – a fated mate. He doesn’t believe that is Pietro.

While they grow closer, there is trouble afoot. Prince is missing. The vampires and their witch mates are worried. They all need to work together to find him and so there is a road trip 🙂 To NOLA!

So it took me a little while to get back into this world. There are a LOT of characters and couples and I had to refresh a bit since it’s been six months since the last book and I read/listened to a LOT of books since then. Once I got back into it, I really enjoyed the romance between Callisto and Pietro. They are so different, yet the end up complimenting each other so well. Callisto’s abilities and guidance from the stars and the cosmos was so interesting and new. Pietro’s dark history was something new to discover too. These two are soooo romantic too! It took a while for Callisto to figure out what Pietro really was to him and was a bit jarring for him. The charts and stars he has relied on may not be all he has thought. I so enjoyed the slow burn of this romance between these two opposites. Honestly I think it’s my favorite book of the series so far. The slow reveal as we are getting closer to The Beautiful One is intriguing and I am really liking this arc now. I can’t wait until March for the next book. Recommended!

The first thing I noticed about this book was how much Callisto's sole focus on astrology and tarot was going to annoy me. It felt obvious to me that he was willing to ignore everything else, including his instincts, which seem to be extremely important to the witches of this series, if the cards or the stars didn't give him direction. The weaponized ignorance just grated on me from the get go, and my heart completely went out to Pietro.

Pietro is absolutely smitten with Callisto, who will not give him the time of day, because the stars didn't tell him to pay attention to Pietro. Normally, this is the part where I tell him to cut his losses and find a partner who respects him, at the very least, but that can't shake out in this case. There's still the threat of war, and the witches of Eaton Falls - and places far and wide - need protection from the vampires. Which leaves Callisto under Pietro's watch. And honestly, it's painful to watch.

All that being said, Callisto's friends don't let him keep his head in the stars for too long. But by the time he opens himself up tp actually listen to his instinct, I was already quite deeply seated in my annoyance, and Callisto's character development came just a little too late for me.

Despite all that, the war keeps getting heated. More revelations - and of course more questions - come to light, but it's all getting very complicated, and very convoluted. It's getting a little hard to keep track of all the moving parts, and their roles in the war against the covens of Eaton falls - and all of existence, really.

Even though I didn't really enjoy this book as much as the first three of the series, I do understand why forwarding the plot in this way was necessary overall. There are two books left, and I have a feeling they're both going to be very action-packed. While I'm looking forward to that, I don't know if I have the bandwidth for this plot to get even more complicated than it already is.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I enjoyed this book and thought that it was another good addition to the Covens of Eaton Falls Series. Even though each book in this series features a new set of fated mates, you definitely need to read each book as the conflict continues throughout the whole series. Pietro was intrigued by the beautiful cosmic witch Callisto at first sight and believed that they could be mates. Even though Pietro is everything that he could want his trusted stars showed him that they’re not. The further along in the book the more signs that Callisto gets that the stars were wrong, or it wasn’t the right time for them to be together.

The vampires and their witches found out a lot of new information but still so many unanswered questions on how to defeat the Beautiful One and stop the war? I thought that Callisto and Pietro were great together and their chemistry was off the charts. I do wish that the witches didn’t lose their magic in order to spend eternity with their mates since they have to be changed into a vampire, unless they’re a hybrid. I’m confused as aren’t all witches fated mates of vampires? I suppose they could choose who they love, fate be damned and be with another witch so more witches are born?

As I’m pretty sure only female vampires can be birth hybrids or can male vampires can’t impregnate a female witch? Female vampires were pretty much wiped out during start of the war before the treaty between the witches and vampires was formed hundreds of years before they started working together to fight their common enemy. I’m wondering what the vision that Prince shared with Callisto means? I’m looking forward to reading the next book and hopefully get some answers to all the unanswered questions during this book. It’s Geoffrey & Maverick’s book next. I’d recommend this book, series and author to others.

This is the 4th book of the Covens of Eaton Falls. Even though each book focuses on a different couple, the previous books must be read since there's an ongoing main story arc.
In this book we get Callisto and Pietro's journey to their HEA. And the journey was full of turbulence, caused by internal and external forces. Pietro knew at first sight that Callisto was meant for him. He was so sweet and such a smooth talker (but not fake or annoying), and was so happy to simply have Callisto by his side. Callisto meanwhile fought an internal battle, he wanted Pietro to be his soul mate but the stars had shown him otherwise. But sometimes if the stars can be changed. And I think with Pietro's love for Callisto made it possible
But as they tried to connect their souls, the enemy known as "the beautiful one" is trying to destroy them all. And he has gotten stronger and sneakier with each attack. But the Covens have found a way to triumph. They are also closer to discovering the "beautiful one" secrets.
I love that the main story continues throughout the books, keeping me on my toes, and in suspense for the final revelation. But it doesn't feel repetitive since each each book offers new and different twists and turns, revelations, and each couple has their own unique powers and personalities and different conflicts. I can't wait for the next book which I hope is Willem since he has been placed in a sticky situation, lol.

Mia Monroe's foray into paranormal romance has not disappointed at all! I thoroughly enjoyed her contemporary romances and was excited and pleasantly surprised to read and enjoy her new paranormal series 'Covens of Eaton Falls'. Her world-building has been exceptional - from the mansion that Augustus owns in the first novel, we pan out in the other novels, to the town of Eaton Falls and, eventually, New Orleans. We also discover, along with the Witches, that there are other Supernatural beings in this world - Dragons, Faries, and Merpeople, to name a few.
This new novel, Cosmic spells and Vampire lairs, was fun to read and brought us to New Orleans, where we discover other covens of Witches and Vampires. We also get to see the world through Pietro and Callisto's eyes, which, to be honest, I couldn't get a bead on in the first three novels. I'm glad that we got this peek into their lives. It took them a while to finally realize they were it for each other, but when they finally discovered they were true mates, the chemistry exploded...all over the page. Not to take away from their slow burn, because that was also amazing. I can genuinely say that I am thoroughly excited for the next novel in the series.

I found this to be a sweeter story than the others so far, more about the relationship development between Pietro and Callisto but still with plenty going on regarding the overall series arc.
It's so good to see the vampire and the witch coming together, though with reticence from Callisto as, at least to start with, it's not written in the stars. This is how he gets his information and hints for life, being able to read the stars and tarots. Pietro is more than happy to bide his time, waiting for Callisto to see him, as they also work with their friends, brothers and covens to find out more about what the big plan is regarding the upcoming war and who they are fighting against, other than calling him 'The Beautiful One'.
I enjoyed how the MC's played off of each other, more than happy to flirt and develop their friendship before moving on to anything deeper. More information regarding what they will be fighting against slowly comes through as the witches use their sight, intuition and connection with spirits and stars. There is one big revelation that will have them all questioning what comes next and how to win this war. I'm also very interested in Willem's story with how things played out for him and others in this book.
A great continuation of the series, building it up to bring a couple more fated mates and then the climax to the upcoming war.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Absolutely love this series!

I’ve read quite a few of Mia Monroe’s series, but I especially love the Covens of Eaton Falls. It’s sweet, intriguing, steamy and captivating. One of my favorite thing about this series is parallel plots. Each book follows a new couple, but the main plot is ongoing in each book. I love that each time I finish a book, I feel happy and satisfied but also ready to see what happens in the next book. It also helps feel like the main plot is not being rushed. Every character and couple are so unique too. It doesn’t feel as though I am reading the same thing over and over again. Their abilities, personalities, relationships and struggles are all different. Each time I finish a book, I think I have a new favorite. I really love Riley from the 3rd book, but man, Callisto is a close second. His personality and style… chef’s kiss 🤌🏻😍. It’s safe to say I loved this book and I am so ready for the next in the series to come out! ❤️

Wow this was really good! I was so excited to grab the next book in this series and learn more about the continuing story and it did not disappoint. I thought the balance between continued plot and romance was really well done!

These two were SO sweet together! I really felt for Callisto when he was realizing that his beloved stars that he relied on so much could have been wrong or not telling the whole story but watching him believe in Pietro and their fated connection was really satisfying and beautiful. Pietro I’m general was so swoony and the way he expressed himself was so romantic and genuine! I also really thought these two were extremely hot together and had great chemistry in and out of the bedroom.

There are some major reveals and discoveries in the continuing plot that I found really intriguing and definitely had me salivating for more from this series!

Stargazing love

Callisto and Pietro are fun and interesting characters. Callisto spends much of his time looking to the stars and Pietro spends his time watching his star witch. It takes a bit for Callisto to see that Pietro is his, but the two figure out how to blend time together with time for protecting their growing group of family and friends.

I liked their story and how these two bring out the best in each other. Pietro is great at reminding Callisto about how special he is. Callisto brings life to Pietro's world.

This story is a great addition to this series. I loved the characters and being able to learn more about our guys. More secrets are revealed and the group learns what they need to do next.

I can't wait for the next book to see what happens next in this world.

This is another sweet story by Mia. We are back with the witches and vampires we have grown fond of in the last books and the overall story arc is continued. It is clear this book is not meant to be a standalone but I prefer diving into a series anyway :) Pietro and Callisto are a supersweet, very harmonic pairing. Callisto's quirks are perfectly balanced by Pietro's more quiet nature. Or is there another side to him that is uncovered as their relationship progresses? Well, of course there is! There were some very intriguing teasers for the future installments of this series as well and I am looking forward to finding out how it all unfolds.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Stardust

“Look at us. A witch made of stardust and light with a vampire made of blood and darkness.” Callisto and Pietro sparkle like the stars that guide their way. So sweet, so tender, it’s obvious how much they cherish each other. And I adore how they take the time to learn about each other, even as they fight their attractions. So adorable these two.

I’m loving our underlying story arc (not a standalone) and how the winds of change are here. I am chomping at the bit to see what will happen next with this amazing found family. Also I’m really, really hoping that Willem’s book is coming soon and that he gets all the love he needs, and I mean all. Can’t wait to see how it’s all revealed.

Who knew that Pietro could be so romantic? Goodness. He had this whole Old World, dark, gothic romance thing going and I was absolutely here for it.

Callisto holds him at bay for way longer than necessary, in my opinion. He lets the stars dictate his life and is convinced that they are destined to be star-crossed lovers. Thankfully, with the help of a few friends, he starts seeing what is right in front of him. He and Pietro were so swoony together. They sort just…fall into one another. I loved that so much.

There is a lot going on in this story regarding the supernatural war that’s coming. We gain new information and meet a few more people willing to help. The world building in this series is so well mapped out and engrossing. Monroe is definitely doing vampires justice.

The search for “the beautiful one” continues in this 4th book of the Covens of Eaton Falls. Callisto is a witch whose focus is on reading the stars as well as tarot. Pietro is a vampire in Augustus’ coven who is paired up with Callisto to protect him. The attraction between them is palpable, but Callisto believes the stars told him they were not compatible. Pietro would do anything to have Callisto as his mate, but will stand by him as his friend if that’s all he can be. The story reveals some more truths about the great overarching mystery/danger, and a trip to New Orleans has Callisto rethinking Pietro as his fated mate. Definitely looking forward to more revelations in the next book, as well as more vampire/witch pairings!

Castillo and Pietro's story is so sweet and sexy and it's the latest addition to the Covens of Eaton Falls series. Castillo is a witch and Pietro is a vampire and he would do anything to protect Castillo. He's also in love with him but Castillo doesn't feel the same way. Castillo knows there is something between them but doesn't want to act on it because he doesn't feel that Pietro is his fated mate. The two realize that they need each in order to save the world and keep everyone safer. It was great seeing the previous main characters and meeting new characters. The book is sweet, romantic, and action-packed, with some angst, and intense moments and their sexy times are hot. The book had my attention from start to finish and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

Absolutely spectacular! Mia’s debut series into paranormal romance has been 10/10! I’ve been loving this series and the mystery aspect the background plot has brought with it! This has been my favorite book out of the four that are out right now. The book has so many elements that make this story easy to devour and keeps you hooked, ready to see what happens next. One of my favorite elements is that we see the different gifts or types of magic our witches specialize in. And the way Callisto interacts with magic through the universe energy is very beautiful in my opinion. The devotion and patience Pietro shows makes this romance much more intense when it inevitably happens. It’s a really amazing story and series, can’t wait for the next book!

I didn't want to put this book down... I took it in the shower with me, I read it while I ate, I even finished it sitting at work. Callisto and Pietro's romnace is a sweet fated mates/perfect timing story with a slow burn and fire climax, but we also get a lot of details about the Beautiful One and the reasons for so many of the past and present encounters and the roots of the dark magic and sinister plot!

This book is amazing on multiple levels, pulling pieces from past books, bringing in new twists and of course telling the love story of sweet, patient Pietro who has so much backstory and Callisto, whose head is literally in the stars and needs signs before every move...

We also get to travel to New Orleans, Salem and watch the whole coven continue to solve the mystery afoot...

Callisto and Pietro have become my favorite couple so far in this series! I loved seeing the sweet and sassy star witch and the dark and morally ambiguous vampire find their way to each other throughout the book. There were times I really wanted to shout at Callisto to just believe in their connection but it was fitting that it took some time and confirmation from those they trust that their love is true. There were many different aspects of the larger storyline that were finally revealed but just as many questions were raised as well! I am so excited to see what is going to happen over the next two books in regards to the war but I am just not ready to say goodbye to all these amazing characters!!

Cosmic Spells and Vampire Lairs is beyond all of my expectations. It's hot, it's sweet, intense, exciting, and it sets up the next book perfectly. I definitely recommend reading the series in order to better understand who all of the side characters are and to follow along with plot easier.

The relationship between Callisto and Pietro is literally written in the stars. They're friendship in the beginning is cute and enjoyable to read. They're fated mates but Callisto is so worried they aren't he doesn't want to hurt either of them by getting too close and risk having their true fated mate show up. Pietro's care for Callisto is toothachingly sweet.

The storyline that continues just sucks you right in. I'm so heavily invested in what happens next. Who is the "Beautiful One"? How did he get his powers? Who is helping him? Who will fall in love next? I've got to know!!

This is a must read series if you like vampires and witches. Especially if you're into fated mates and hot af steamy scenes. Mia is a true storyteller and world builder.

4 stars

Pietro has been intrigued by Callisto, his star witch. Callisto likes Pietro but every time he reads the stars, they say that they are not compatible.

Prince leaves and everyone tries to find him and figure out why he left. They discover there is a darkness inside of Prince and he left to protect everyone. The covens find out who is behind the war and that there is a traitor in their midst. They communicate with Sylvia and discover how they can win the war. Callisto is told that Pietro is his fated mate and finally lets himself make a move.

A continuation of the Eaton Falls series which explains some more about the overall story line of who and what the Beautiful One is and their plans. I liked how the overall story line flowed in this book, it has more informative and a little less dramatic than the previous books but the romance between Callisto and Pietro seemed a bit forced. Callisto is attracted to Pietro but thinks their relationship isn't written in the stars therefore he won't get involved. Then after talking to another witch he changes his mind and decides their love is destined so he gives into his attraction and they fall in love. I'm enjoying this series and am eagerly anticipating the next story.

Amazing continuation of this series! This is such a sweet story for the star witch Callisto and the vampire Pietro! These two were adorable and made for each other! This story is just so intriguing and keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see where it’s going next with the war going on. We get more info on the Beautiful One and where he’s getting his magic and power. So many awesome characters that just make this series amazing! I can’t wait to read more! ★★★★★ STARS!!
I'm just loving this series more and more. Callisto and Pietro are so damn swoony and hot AF. I absolutely love how these vampires act all alpha and tough but are complete mush when it comes to finding their mates. These two were just the sweetest together.

Mia Monroe is absolutely nailing this series. The continued mystery plot throughout is so well written and paced out. She's managed to keep me genuinely intrigued, entertained and anxiously wanting to know the outcome. At the same time, the mystery doesn't overshadow the romance and I'm totally hooked.
