BASIC FACTS:
Pages: 292
My rating: 4.5
Genre: RH Tech Thriller, Contemporary
Themes: Woman in hiding, Man Killed, mystery/thriller, Stalker
Protagonist Ages: 27 and older
Pacing: good pacing, not too slow not too fast
Plot Rating: 4/5

Savage Traitor is a different kind of RH. I love it’s a Tech Thriller, with a FMC who is a genius with tech. There are so many facets to Henley (FMC) and they are described really well. I also like the other main character and I’m not sure, if some of the people, who I think are the side characters, are more than that. In the first book Henley meets the Santos brothers, but not much happens in this book regarding the relationship. But they are slowly but surely building trust and a friendship, which evolves into more very slowly. I really enjoy a good story and I enjoy the slow burn rh, where there is a good relationship building. The story entertained me and sucked me into this world. It’s the best book I read this month!

Edit: After the fourth reread I still love this series. It never gets old.

I saw the cover and straight away thought ‘SPACE’. Surprisingly it is not set in Space, but regardless I really enjoyed it anyway.

It’s set around the world of tech, and the plot includes hacking, virtual reality, cyber security and other tech stuff. I’m not very technically minded by it was a cool addition to the book.

The fmc is a hacker and is on the run, so she’s very good with fake ID’s and works from home doing these massive coding projects. She also went to MIT. What I’m trying to say is that she is a loner and is in hiding, but she makes a lot of money. She is very much a badass, despite being shy at points. I liked that she wasn’t too cocky or in your face.

This is a reverse harem and the MMC’s are all related, via blood or adoption. They refer to each other as being brothers though, which was very sweet. From finishing the first book, it seems like there is only 3 of them, but they are all very likeable and I am yet to hate any of them (I can be judgey). It’s also a multi POV.

The romance is definitely on the back burner in this book, but I surprisingly didn’t mind that at all. There are so many plot twists or general action that constantly kept me engaged. The spice level was a negative number, literally a kiss or two occur, but again I don’t think spice was necessarily needed in book 1. Holding out for something more in book 2 though.

Saying that … I think because of the lack of spice the MMC’s overcompensated sometimes with really cheesy lines. I mean they seemed cheesy to me, but they could be interpreted as romantic by some people. I definitely could have done without some of those. A lot of normal, non cringey, tentative moments occur as well though. I liked those.

I don’t know if the stalker plot twist was needed. I understand that it aided the backstory, but in the grand scheme of things it felt a little irrelevant and I kept forgetting about it.

Honestly it was a solid read and I’m currently downloading the second book.

Side note - If someone knows of a book with a space harem, please let me know. I didn’t know I needed this trope combo until now. 😂👏

this was fun!! a bit of a different concept with the advanced tech etc, which was interesting and helped this book stick out amongst the masses. it is not set in space despite the very space-vibe cover (a surprise for me), but nonetheless it was a fun plot with a pretty great heroine who was ultra cool, calm, and collected, and SMART, which was really nice. men were alright! i have no real thoughts about them, but i didn't hate them. overall, i got quite sucked up into this book, and had a good time.

fast-paced but somewhat slow burn
tech stuff I understand nothing about but not boring
super cool MC
cinderella dress moment

the book ends on a cliffhanger, just like the author says upfront but it's kind of a cliffhanger you can guess what just happened.
the story's fine but tbh, the book is so enjoyable because Henley is a hell of a woman. she's strong, super smart, cunning, and 100% the boss in this relationship so far.
but while her whole story started because of a stalker, we don't get much about it so far. right now, she is focused on solving her mentor's death.

I'm kinda super excited to see the upcoming drama unfold.

The IT references are somewhat accurate, but a few things were over the top. It was a fun book tho! Mostly because of the action, although I wish it had more character development so I could get attached to them.

And errr, the portuguese was /right/ but I wouldn't say caralho means fuck hahaha it means a huge penis HAHAHAH fuck is foder, or foda itself.

Also I'm from Rio, we only say caralho at high peak of stress, and it feels kinda awkward coming that often from a character we are supposed to like. Porra and Merda we say more often, casually even.

If you can get them to say "Filho da puta" more than "Desgraçado" on the next books I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER it just sounds better ;D

The first 15% was so boring, it was just showing what happens and her journey to SEI. After that I was so hooked I couldn't put it down. There are some very cheesy scenes and lines. The romance was a supperr slow burn, I'm hoping we can get a little more of it in the 2nd book. Wondering if there will be more than 3 men in her harem...👀

Savage Traitor is a roller coaster ride of fast-paced danger and suspense with interesting new characters. I really enjoy how Ms. Brie always sparks my curiosity to see how her characters and stories are going to evolve. Her FMC, Henley, in this one is a genius who has experienced trauma and is basically existing in isolation, but still finding ways to challenge her mind and make a difference in the world. However, that existence is shattered with the death of her mentor and the path that sets her on. The story is told in first person, multi-POV, and is slow burn with little to no sexual history depending on the character but doesn't appear that anyone's a virgin.

Henley doesn't know who to trust and while I understood that, I didn't always like her choices or the choices of the guys she meets, who are also embroiled in this surprise attack/chaos. Whether I understood them all the time or not, the three main male characters are intriguing and smoking hot. They're wealthy businessmen and a family prior to meeting Henley. We get intros to their basic characters, but there's a lot still to delve into. There's insta-attraction between the main characters with some kissing happening, but everyone has secrets for most of the book (some still by the end) so there's a significant amount of relationship and character development to come.

Some of the bad guys are clear and others are still a mystery. Henley also has a stalker who is the cause of her past trauma. None of the bad guys pull their punches and there is death and violence. I did have trouble at times connecting to what was happening and I think it was because of the fast pace along with the technology focus. Ms. Brie says in her author's note that this is a passion project for her and it won't be for everyone, which I respect, and I did end up skimming some of the techy parts. I am super curious about what's happening next and I did enjoy the suspense parts of the plot, as well as the more character-focused times where they could open up some. I think there's great growth opportunity for all of the characters and Ms. Brie is usually excellent at that so I'll be checking out book 2 when it's released.

There's no mm/ff or ow/om drama. One of the guys usually has a group of women surrounding him and we only see them in passing at one event, with no romantic or sexual contact shown. I'm not 100% sure what's going on there or if there'll be drama later but I don't think so since he seems to be using them for appearances.

I really enjoyed this and flew through it. I def had issues throughout the book with some of the dialogue being unnatural and situations being cringey but the plot and suspense was so engaging that I found it easy to keep going. The dynamic between the characters def helped too. This is my jam though— the sweet, sassy, shy h who is out of her comfort zone and the dudes being protective but also assholey. So good! Im excited to read the next book!

Rh with slow burn and some brazilians hotties in it? Count me in!

For starters let me say that I'm Brazilian, so I might be under influence of the soft spot that I have for my country.
I loved the boys and their dynamics, loved Henley and how loyal and fierce was But mostly, I loved the tech talk, the hacking stuff and the goodies that come with it.
The author nailed on the subject!

Is the author very tall, slim and blonde or wishes she was ?Main character Seems very similar in appearance as “the Rowan” mc. As well as the coming in from the cold and meeting a bunch of men who are suspicious then gagging for her. I’ve read better cyber mysteries and the romance and connection was lacking

Incredible from start to finish!

The story: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
The Heat: 🔥🔥

Whether she's writing a high fantasy series or a dark tech world, Stella Brie's writing bleeds passion that adds more and more depth to the story. Once you start reading it's impossible to stop, between the vivid characters that I became instantly attached to, and the fast paced adventure that never slows down, I couldn't look away if I tried.

This is story is for the nerds, geeks, and loners, and I proudly include myself in this grouping. So does Henley, our heroine that I adore. She's strong, with more layers than her beloved burritos, and someone utterly fascinating to learn about as the story goes on. I loved how she doesn't hold back calling these boys on their BS.

The Santos men are smoking hot and fiercely protective, one of my favorite combinations. Where we learn a lot about Henley, the guys still have a lot to be revealed as we get to know them. I can see how they each have some growth to do as well, and I look forward to Henley pushing them towards that!

I'm so excited to see where the story goes from here! Especially after being left on that INSANE cliffhanger!!! Being a fan of the authors writing from the beginning, I can say her stories get better and better with each one!

It’s good at first when everything is being revealed and set up but when they team up.. it’s not interesting. The romance isn’t romancing. I felt nothing and the men are indistinguishable to me at 80% in. The business techy and espionage stuff is the best part of this book but only when it’s setting up. The mistrust angle was used for too long for her to not do anything but hang out with them. Tick tok, girlie! You have a timeline! Get working! Oh well, I lost interest now and really couldn’t care less what happens in the end.

I knew I had to read the series when I finished Lethal Vengeance. This didn't disappoint. Fantastic world and plot building, really good action scenes, the different identities, revelations, friendship, all the details, relationships, that cliffhanger. I'm hooked. Thiago, Grayson, Mateo all a family and hot, different men. They compliment Henley really well. I'm starting book 2. I need to know how it ends. And I need them together 😍

This one was kind of a mixed bag for me. Love the thriller aspect, the men are swoony, and Henley is a delight. But there is a bit of weakness in the relationship development and some over description in the writing. I do not need to know every item that came in a particular breakfast order.

All the tech stuff went in one ear and out the other but I got the vibe, ya know? Also I have a negative view on NFTs and the whole “metaverse” thing tied up in that so that aspect did absolutely nothing for me.
The plot is kind of bonkers and seems a little over the top for what we currently know but obviously there is more to be unveiled in the next book to give more substance to the motivations of the bad guys. I’m guessing Henley’s stalker is the one behind it all and I’m excited to see how that plays out.
I feel like the men let Henley in a little too quickly. I would have loved a little more distrust and tension from their side. It felt a little too easy. I feel like Thiago and Greyson should have been more suspicious and calculating when it came to her initially. With Mateo, things felt like they happened a little outta the blue. I think more could have been done to build things up and create tension.
Also, I get that there is a lot more going on in this book than just romance but I would have loved to see more of Henley’s internal romantic thoughts on the guys and how she is processing that in the midst of all that is going on.

One other thing that really got on my nerves is how often it was pointed out how much Henley eats. Multiple times it’s pointed out how surprised the men are that she eats larger amounts of food than they expect. It’s always framed in a way to put down other women and show how NLOG Henley is. Drives me absolutely insane.

On the whole, I liked the book. I stayed up waaaaay too late reading it because it kept me hooked. The plot is quite interesting but I think the romance and how it is developing could use a little more time and attention.

Gripping

This is the first book in a continuing series. The book ends on a cliffhanger, so be warned!

Henley is a technological genius. She’s also in hiding from a stalker who ruined her life years ago when she was at MIT. She didn’t get to graduate because of him and eventually had to fake her own death to get some degree of peace. The man who is her only friend, mentor and saviour works with her in a virtual space. They have never met despite collaborating on many projects together, when she is woken one night by her house alarm, she discovers he has triggered it virtually so that she will see a video of his murder.

When Henley received a package with his last wishes, she ventures out of her safe cocoon for the first time in years and drives cross country to try and safeguard their last innovation. In the process she meets her friend’s family and she has to find a way to learn whether they are to be trusted or not, and if they are trustworthy can they keep her safe.

I loved this book. I’m surprised I loved it as I really really enjoyed this author’s last series, The Killian Blade. This is a different sub-genre, though it is still an RH book, though there isn’t a massive amount of romance in this first book of the series. This author is the queen of the slow-build. Stella Brie is a gifted at creating fascinating characters and making you care about them, all whilst weaving a complicated and gripping plot around that core.

Henley is a fascinating character. She’s brilliant, dedicated, determined and lonely. Her work is her life and taking this journey at the request of her friend is her first foray into physical espionage. As she’s so intelligent she works out intriguing ways to get information, however she finds the whole thing quite terrifying. She’s much more comfortable in the virtual world, but the longer she spends in the real world, the more she likes it.

Her friend’s family is comprised of handsome, intelligent and successful men in their 30s. They are equally suspicious of Henley as she is of them because they are all are working from incomplete data. The story unravels slowly as each slice of information uncovered reveals not only who is the traitor but more about who the main characters involved are. It’s a careful dance between running headlong towards each other and fleeing away as fast as they can. Each swing of the pendulum brings them closer together.

This is an impressive book and I know I’ll probably re-read it several times and will probably get more out of it on each repeat, because that’s what happened with the first series by this author. I also know this because I already want to read it again! This is such an exciting start to a new series.

Sigh...so good!
This book was amazing and I can't wait for the next one. I have been so impressed with Stella Brie since I happened upon her Rowan series. She is just so completely thorough. There are no plot holes or unfulfilled potential in her books, they are just So well done.

What I loved:
1. The MFC, Henley, is a tech genius and she actually reads as a tech genius. There are so many books out there that give someone this title and then the characters are dumber than rocks. (I'm looking at you "Vested Interest") Not so with this book. Everything is very smart from the writing to the characters.
2. It's a slow burn between the love interests, but you feel the intrigue from the beginning.
3. Pacing was spot on and kept me glued from the first page.

If I had one complaint:
1. The storyline wasn't wrapped up. (But honestly it didn't really feel like it.). It's a pet peeve of mine for series to have mini conclusions to each book, even if there is an overarching plot. This didn't seem to really bother me with this book though, it felt completed, even though it was left on a cliffy.

“The Savages” book one -Savage Traitor and book two Savage Ruin. Of course book one ends on a cliff hanger. Lucky for you both books are published and you’re green lighted to rush from one right into the next.

Why I recommend? It’s not very often you find a heroine who is both vulnerable and kick ass. There is no doubt that Henley has some hacker skills to die for. I’m confident you’ll be rooting for her as well when she finally able to overcome the pain from her past.

Savage Traitor took me a minute to get into. I started it and then kept getting distracted by the dumbest things...

However, once I started actually reading and not just random glances between my iPad and the telly and the stupid game on my phone...

Holy. Forking. Shirtballs.
This was good.

Henley (loved that name, btw) is essentially in hiding. She lives/works/everything in her loft. She's a retired hacker who works with her mentor to create tech that will help people. After some stuff goes down, she's forced out of her comfy little bubble and back out into the real world.
Things get crazy; she eventually meets Grayson, Thiago, and Matteo; and together they are trying to figure out what's going on and getting revenge...

I really don't want to spoil too much, so I apologize my lackluster summary.

Anyhooskies.

Henley. She was great. I loved her. It's been a minute since I've had a heroine that I didn't despise or only partially like. So, that was refreshing.

Thank you Ms. Brie.

Henley was smart and could take care of her self. She didn't depend on the guys to save her or expect them to come to the rescue. She was all about doin it herself. Love that.

They guys were great as well. But it's a toss up between Thiago and Mateo being my favorites. I'm leaning more towards Thiago.

This was action packed and I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of the book. Figuratively, of course. I mean, how can you comfortably read while sitting on the edge of a seat. No thanks.
Anyways, I digress.
Lots going on here. I can honestly say I didn't skim a single page.

Shocking right?

I was at least. I skim a lot.
It's this incessant need to finish a book and find out what happens even if I have only the barest hint of interest in the story.
It's a problem. I'm working on it.

Anyways. Wait, what was I saying?
Oh right. Lots goin on here. Henley's doing her super secret squirrel mission stuff, the guys are trying to figure out what the heck is going on, and then the bad guys are doing bad guys stuff.
There's lots of characters, some I'm kind of bummed are only secondary and not members of her harem...

Cruz.
I see you, boo.

And then I get to the end and its a cliffhanger and I was mad for like 2.5 seconds before realizing... the second book is already out.

I win.

HmM. On the fence.

It was all great and amazing up until Henley and the savaged met at the safehouse. After that it sort of slowly started sliding downhill. But not that steep a hill. Maybe a couple of degrees.

For example the romance was a bit weird. How the guys kept touching her all the time even though they just met. And then there’s Henley. Apparently she feels nothing about kissing two brothers at once. I mean yeah this is an RH but usually that type of reaction is there if the characters live in a world where harems are the norm or the men have been known to share. Not the case here though. So the romantic progression was a bit awkward for me.

There’s also some bits about the writing that irked me. Sometimes characters start speaking all of a sudden but we don’t get their names at the start. Instead it’s all he said he said for some while until another character thinks/speaks his name. For the space of that conversation I’m at a loss who’s doing what so after the name has been dropped in the middle I have to go back and re read the conversation so I can get a handle on what’s going on, who’s doing what. A bit problematic flow-wise if you ask me. Instead of going for a smooth sail we’re sort of hitting strong waves and being pushed back a step or two.

So yeah. I had very high expectations for this book for some unknown reason. Don’t ask. I guess it was the blurb. While I won’t ultimately say the book wasn’t what I expected (in a bad way), it still wasn’t what I expected (in a good way). If you catch my drift. Not what I wanted but not what I didn’t want either. That probably means I will be continuing with book two.

P.S. I guess the hints have been dropped that the stalker is the one helping out Diego’s boss and per dramatics bossman is probably going to be that of the Brazilian cartel Thiago is hiding from. ( Stalker cause they keep speaking of him as a genius and a hacker. )
Anyway thats my guess. What I wanted to say is. I hope it’s not Sterling. Usually it’s someone we’ve met already at this point. But I don’t want it to be Sterling. I mean. He’s British ffs. How can he be the bad guy :(

P.P.S. I just realised there were no females in the whole book. Other than Mateos mother and the boys dates. No one. Wow…….

Not my definition of a romance and I'm thrilled!

I didn't realize I was burning myself out with RH romance. I realize there are popular tropes for Contemporary RH... but I either don't enjoy them or am sick of reading the same story over and over, just with different characters.

Savage Traitor was a breath of freaking fresh air. I've always loved thrillers, and the addition of tech makes it even better. Being a certain age, I'm more than aware of how much and how fast the world is changing. I'm in love with that aspect of this book. I love that Henley is a genius... and a Hacker. I wish she didn't have a stalker cause that sub-trope is so overused and think the story would have been just as good with that left out but I maybe she wouldnt have the extra skills she has unless she was sketchy? Idk

Thiago, Grayson and Mateo...what to say. Tall, gorgeous, strong, intelligent, loyal, rich (hey! Doesn't hurt...lol). I'm kind of surprised there was so much betrayal within their company. Diego is a dick. Wah wah...I want more, it's not fair. Typical for someone who'd rather have something given to them rather than working for it. I suspect Diego's boss is also the stalker. (It's a mystery too... another genre I love!) We'll see if I'm right.

I don't normally like slow burn. I feel like, I'm reading a romance with multiple love interests... get on with the good stuff! 😊 I didn't miss it at all. In fact, I think it would have detracted from the development of the story. Not only that, I don't know how it would have fit. There's time to develop that in book 2. (I can't believe I just said that.)

This is my first read by this author. I saw a random post in a Facebook reader group and I said, what the heck. It far exceeded my expectations. I couldn't be happier and wholeheartedly recommend this book.

This was the book to pull me out of my slump

What the title says. I feel like I’ve been in the worst book slump for the past couple weeks. I’ve read dozens of books, and in the general sense enjoyed each of them in the moment, but none of them really stayed with me—none of them scratched that itch I’ve been trying to reach for ages. I lovingly refer to them as “junk food books,” simply because they are wonderful and filling while reading, but I realize after the fact that I still feel a little empty.

Oh, but this book. I’ve gotten so very burnt out on not only reverse harems, but romance books in general because I feel like so many of them follow the same formula and are always such fast burns that I never actually feel invested in the story—it’s just another vehicle for steam that I end up skimming through, cause there are only so many ways I can read about people orgasming before you’ve read it all before. But I digress.

THIS BOOK. I’m so invested. Actual slow burn, but not glacial. Believable relationships. A fresh storyline I’ve not experienced before. A main character that, for all her skills, is still human—still has doubts, still has fears, and the main thing pushing her to keep trying is the need to avenge the one person she’s been able to call a friend.

I am both glad I read this book, and frustrated that I read it, since the next book isn’t out yet, but I have less than a month to wait (thank god). While this book does technically leave you on a cliff hanger, it’s not one of those “smack you over the head in the last two pages to leave you reeling” kind of cliff hanger, but a genuine set up for the next book.

I look forward to the next one 💕

I FLEW through this book, and I don’t have too many complaints. I really, really enjoyed it.
The plot is fast-paced, but the romance between our FMC, Henley, and the guys is more of a slow-burn.

I enjoyed the thriller aspect of the book. We’ve got a stalker, a murderer, and a big boss trying to get his hands on the tech. This book doesn’t really have a boring moment so I was grateful for that.
I did, however, dislike the stalker aspect because even though we know she has a stalker, and we know what he’s done in the past and how dangerous he is, we don’t actually see him in action in this book at all.

I also enjoyed the overall plot for this book. I’m by no means an expert in coding, cryptocurrency, NFTs, or anything like that… but I did find the concept interesting, and it really makes this book stand out from others I’ve read.

My biggest complaint in this book is that it seems like we’re on the “I’m not like other girls path.” It’s addressed multiple times in the book just how much Henley eats, and we also get the very clear picture that she is NOTHING like the type of girl the guys usually go for. I don’t like the insinuation that Henley is somehow better than these other girls the men have had or been around in the past bc she eats!!! Wow!!! The men are drawn to her because she’s so different….. It’s just annoying and unnecessary, and a part of why I don’t think this book is 5⭐️.

The book ends in a cliffhanger-because it’s the first book in a series, so of course it does. I’m intrigued and will definitely be picking up the next book.

Please note that this review is for the completed duet, not the individual books.

I didn't think Stella Brie could get any better after I read the first three books in the Killian Blade series, but this time, I am thrilled to be wrong. The Savages Duet proves to be a master class on weaving romance, intrigue, action, and spice into a story that kept me enthralled to the very end.

This story reads like a mafia thriller. It has all the danger from car chases to kidnappings to the ultimate justice for those who were wronged. But the best part is that it ISN'T a mafia romance. While not entirely innocent, the heroes are business men who are not remotely related to organized crime. It is brilliant because there is no map telling you what to expect, and I love, absolutely adore, a book or series that surprises me.

Henley, the heroine, will tug at your heartstrings from the very beginning with her solitary, lonely existence. It is so immensely gratifying to see her grow into a confident woman who owns her life and takes on the world. Each of her guys has his own issues to overcome, and the way the all four characters bolster and support each other is such a delight.

Even with all of the wonderful things I want to say about this duet, I feel it is essential to ask that you please don't skip the Author's Note at the beginning of the book. It includes some very important potential triggers due to the abuse, stalking, and violence experienced by the characters throughout the story. Mental health is important, so please read responsibly.

This book was almost 5 stars. It kept me up and hooked constantly. The plot was absolutely amazing and fantastic. I was completely hooked by the thrills of it all. HOWEVER, while I really like the fmc and pretty much all the characters there are massive issues with this book that I didn't like.
The relationship aspect felt weird and forced. It felt rushed and like it was almost a second thought added in. It just felt out of place. The fmc acts a lot differently when she interacts romantically with the guys or even when she is having a minor dramatic spat about clothes. The things she says just come out weird - no one would talk like that. Also, it just feels out of character at times. It also felt like it was all of a sudden. Just suddenly, they have feelings for her and she is obviously catching them for them amongst all this distrust and it just didn't work for me.
And as far as the guys go..they have been dating for so long. They have never been with someone like her before?! It just doesn't feel right. They like her because she eats and because she is different. And unfortunately that point is hammered home every other paragraph it seems like when its a guys pov.
All in all, a great book but the author would have been better off leaving out the romance and just keeping it as a thriller. Romance is not working in this book.
