Just when Tokyo thinks life can't get any worse... she loses her sister. Depression rears its ugly head and she finds herself in a hole she's barely able to climb out of. As a result of the darkness that she can't seem to escape, a friendship that was once dear to her shockingly comes to an end. Surprisingly, through it all, Haram is there for her in ways that she would have never imagined.
It isn't long before Haram succumbs to his mental woes too. Mental woes that threatens his union with Tokyo. Because she's the light of his life, he doesn't want to lose her. Without much of a choice, Haram shares his deepest––somewhat, ugly––truths with her. Solace 2: A Hood Love Tale is the beguiling sequel to the highly anticipated series. In part two, layers of both Haram and Tokyo will be shed. Question is, when Haram shows Tokyo who he truly is, will she be able to stand by his side?
For as long as Miss Candice could remember, writing has been her passion. In the beginning, she wrote poetry. Later on in life, when she was about thirteen years old, she was introduced to fanfiction.
The Coldest Winter Ever was the first urban fiction book she read. It wast then when she took Fanfiction to another level. She perfected her writing skills, and began to write Urban fanfiction. At first, writing was something she did in her spare time. Something that was therapeutic to her. Never in a million years, did she think she would become a published author, although it has always been a dream of hers.
Now, at the age of twenty-eight, she's penned over ten bestselling novels with many more to come.
In addition to writing, She's also CEO and founder of Miss Candice Presents.
This series is developed really well! The depth and emotions written regarding these characters is truly felt through each page. The second books stars with heartbreak and I feel soooo bad for Tokyo… I definitely shed a few thug tears. We really got to see both Haram and Tokyo at their lowest and they were truly each other’s Solace. I’m glad we got a deeper understanding of Haram’s mental illness! I feel for him🤧 I already knew Diara and Khadijah were going to be trouble. Haram should’ve been up front with Tokyo and now look at him…. SMH! I can’t believe Mike and Sahara showed their faces… THE AUDACITY! This series is a page TURNER! I’m ready to see how it ends! I’m rooting for them! 😩😩
Ion even know what to say smdh. Together Haram and Tokyo had grown so much. She accepted everything that came with him. They both had experienced each other at their worst and chose to move past it together. I didn't understand why Haram didn't lay all his cards on the table when they came to an impasse. I know he was young, they were young but he mishandled this situation terribly. The worst thing he could do is let another woman have something to hold over the woman he loved. I don't know what outcome he expected smh. The blissful love they had been experiencing came to a screeching halt. I'm low-key concerned about Tokyo because she had become so dependent upon him.... I guess we will see how this all shakes out in the last book.
SN: I also would have appreciated more affection in this book. Now that they are officially together there was no action. They moved and didn't christian the house?
Solace 2 was an excellent follow-up to book one. Book one follows Tokyo’s life and how one tragedy causes her to lose the two most important people in her life. Unable to deal with the aftermath of the tragedy, Tokyo falls into a deep depression. While navigating through her emotions, she finds comfort in the most unexpected person, Haram.
Solace 2 picks up where book one left off. Haram and Tokyo are now dating. Things seem to be going well until one unexpected conversation with Khadijah causes Haram to fall into a deep depression. While Haram lies around sulking, Tokyo does everything she can to get her sister back. After days of not hearing from Haram, Tokyo is determine to discover why she has been avoided. When Tokyo feels that all hope is lost, she finally hears from Haram, and it is at that moment Haram finally allows Tokyo to see the real him. While things progress in their relationship, there's one secret that Haram is withholding… Let’s see how everything unfolds in the finale of Solace!
I loved how the author spent time shedding light on Haram’s mental health. I love how accepting Tokyo is towards him and how hard she fought for Spacey. It was a bittersweet story and I am eager for the finale.
Whew Lawdddd Miss Candice is killing me with this To Be Continued. Two broken people can either lift each other up or break each other down further. Tokyo and Haram was broken but the both of them are able to lean on each. Tokyo lost her grandma and with CPS stepping in. She lost her little sister Spacey to the system and that broke her down further. Legacy mother was scandalous for what she did. I knew it was her that called and Tokyo had every reason to be angry. I was waiting for Tokyo to go upside Tempest head and Tokyo didn't disappoint. Tempest wasn't Tokyo friend. She was a hater. Haram mental illness caused him to act out a lot but I also believe even without it. He would still be the way he was. Haram isn't a people's person but he's definitely good at spotting fakes and snake's. Tokyo was one of the only people who finally saw him for him when he was helping to pull her out of her depression. I was proud of Haram for telling Tokyo about his mental illness but he still has a secret he was hiding. I was disappointed in Haram though. He should've been honest with Tokyo about what Khadijah told him. It happened before him and Tokyo got into a relationship. Khadijah is petty and messy. Now that the truth is out. I see her trying to cause problems in Tokyo and Haram relationship. That is if Tokyo even forgive Haram. Syn knew he wasn't ready for a monogamous relationship. He had a fear of commitment and should've been straight up with Legacy. I have a feeling that Dairia is going to be a problem in their relationship when the truth comes out.
Poor Tokyo every time things are going well something happens to destroy her happiness. Damn Haram I really feel bad for him at this point but he should have been upfront about the situation beforehand by telling Tokyo. I just hope it doesn’t cause him to spiral out of control. I know Khadijah trifling behind was probably the person who put those results in the mailbox she was so jealous of Tokyo and Haram relationship because he didn’t want her she couldn’t wait to drop that bomb. Syn is so trifling I hope that Legacy leaves his behind in the dust and move on especially with the games he is playing how can you be in love with someone but pull back from the relationship to cheat because your feelings are too deep for them make it make sense. Miss Candice you came with the heat on this series I can’t wait too see what happens next!!
In the first installment the author stated it would be the preface/back ground info. So I expected book two to be more of a story. This book didn’t pull it together for me like I thought it would. Yes questions were answered but not to the point that this book should have a continuation. Book two could have had less words and made more of an impact if There was more dialogue or real time interactions. Every time I thought we would get more out of Tok and Rams relationship it skipped months in advance. We had to rely on the author telling us what everyone thinks and feels. Just expected more…
I decided to read the entire series before I left my review so I could get the whole picture. I realllllllly wanted to give this series 5stars, but sadly I just couldn't.
I absolutely loved the plot and theme of this love story! I loved that it wasn't the typical good girl/bad boy structure, even though it's definitely my favorite to read. There were a lot of components that made this story stand out amongst similar writes. Having two broken people make each other whole is an amazing read, however the delivery is what ruined it for me.
In my opinion, there was wayyyy too many description paragraphs and not enough dialogue. I felt that about 80% of the story was told by the author or read through the characters thoughts and that made it extremely hard to read. I ended up skimming those parts and jumping to the dialogue parts in book 3 because I couldn't take it anymore. I feel that it's best to let the characters tell us their story through their interactions with the other characters and the narrator/inner monologue be minimal and only used when situations call for it. I felt like I was being told about their lives majority of the book instead of experiencing it through the characters. This also created a lot of repetition.
I absolutely loved the characters growth, it was amazing to see a strong man face mental health issues, however I would have also loved to see him get help through therapy to further enhance his growth and development after all he came down from. It was hard to believe that all it took was his brother being shot to start taking his meds regularly, again. He was battling week long depression episodes and manic states and all of a sudden he is now more responsible with his meds. I found it hard to accept with the severity of his condition. There was also a lot of time jumping around that wasn't clearly stated so it was easy to get lost in what was happening, or where they were in the time frame of the story. I'm happy with how the story went, I just wish it was easier to read. I may look into this authors future work to see the development of her writing style since majority of her writing skills are great! I hope to read more in the future!
Miss Candice did it again. She never disappoint. I need part 3 ASAP. I hope Tokyo is ok she has been threw so much. I’m glad she got spacey back. My mom and dad need a good beat down. They have the audacity to darken that door step after what they done. Harem is bae I like him and Tokyo together, but I hate how he’s treating Khadijah she doesn’t deserve that. She didn’t make that baby on her on and especially if he has bipolar too. He should have at least told his mom. I knew it was going to come back and bite him later. I can’t wait until late may early June to read the final book 📖
Ok I liked this Tokyo way better than the last book. She overcame her grief and did what was needed to get her sister back. She also got over feeling betrayed by her bestie and made up with her. Haram as always did what was needed to take care of his girl including telling her about his illness. I wish he would have told her about the baby I fear this may set her back with how connected the two of them are. I absolutely love the character growth in this installment including Legacy starting to get a clue about Syn. What’s done in the dark always come into the light and he’s about to lose his girl.
Emotional. Roller coaster…. 🫠😕💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️🙁☹️😣😖😫😩🥺🤦🏾♀️😢😭😤😠😂😳😢😭🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤬🤯😖😣😟😞🤪😌😌😍🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🔥🔥😘🥰😍🥰🙂😣☹️😞😝🥹🥲🤣🥰😍🥵🥵🧐😟🤩🤯🤬🫢😘😘🥰😍🤣😟☹️😣🤬🤬🤯😘🥰😍😍🫣🫣🫣🤭🫣🫣🫣😟😔😔😞😕🙁☹️☹️😫😩🥺😢😭😭😔…..everything I felt reading this series.
I liked that this book took the time to explore Haram and Tokyo together. I love that Haram had always had a thing for her but didn't really know how to approach her. As loved/feared as he was and as confident as he was he was still like any other guy who had a crush on a girl. This book definitely showed more of Haram's sweet side...even if it was only toward Tokyo.
They were put into situations that exceeded their age and this book definitely showed how quickly they were forced to grow up due to their circumstances. Tokyo's battle with grief over her grandmother, Space being taken away, Haram's battle with mental illness, his struggle with how he fit into the world, the baby...the list goes on. I think Haram also overestimated Khadijah's friendship because they had been friends for long. Once upon a time they were friends but she also developed feelings over those years and convinced herself that if she did something to keep him things would one different.
I knew that it would take Tokyo by surprise but I just didn't know how the news was going to be delivered. And like the master of cliffhangers that she is...Miss Candice dropped the bombed and hit me with a "to be continued..."
Omg this series is so good but damn it’s a lot to handle Haram deserve to be happy and I have a feeling that baby still isn’t his because who dropped off the test results it supposed to come in the mail not a random person dropping it off. I hope Tokyo didn’t leave him for real at least let him explain. Now Syn and legacy idk know about them if Syn spending to much time with the side chick he should let legacy go. Knowing his ass he probably got somebody pregnant smh . I hope we don’t half to wait long for part three.
I can't wait for part 3. Legacy was somewhat responsible as so her mother for cps taking Space, and I didn't blame Tokyo for being mad at her, but I was gave her a second chance. Tempest deserved those whopping bcuz she was a fake friend from the beginning. Haram was heaven sent to Tokyo. She needed real people in her corner. Haram should've told her from the beginning. I'm glad she got Space back. I hope her and Haram get it together in the next installment!
Tokyo has gone through so much trauma. The love she and Haram shared was good for the both of them. Losing Space nearly took her over the edge, but Harem was there to console her. Tempest was definitely not a good friend. She deserved what she received. Haram she have told Tokyo the truth about Khadija from the beginning. Waiting patiently to see what part three brings!
Why you left us hanging like this? Whyyyyy? Am so happy that Tok and Haram got together. Everything is changing around them. I have a strong feeling legacy is gonna catch Syn cheating. Don’t know what their relationship would become after. This novel has me on a emotional roller coaster ride. I was praying for the dna test to come back negative but it wasn’t in our luck. Great read Miss Candice I hope book 3 is close to finishing cause I stay ready!
I was sad that this second installment came to an end so quickly, but very happy I was able to catch up and that things were going so well, until they weren't. I'm afraid for where the next book is going because too many of Harem's family has mentioned what a broken heart will do to him. Tokyo is young, which excuses why she reacts and responds the way she does. I hope they can get it together because it's obvious that they bring each other peace.
I love Haram and Tokyo together. They get each other in ways family and friends can’t understand. I hope they can work out there issues, because I feel like Tyra Banks right now. I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU HARAM, WE ALL WERE ROOTING FOR YOU!! He better fix this mess, he should have been honest with Tokyo from the beginning of finding out his news. Hopefully she don’t be too harsh with him, because it did happen before them.
Your writing never ceases to amaze me!! Good job writing about Haram’s bipolar disorder. Please let this be fixable lol I love Haram and Tokyo together and I don’t think either of them will be able to take this the right way. Khadijah foul for dropping that in the mail box like that! Syn is showing his behind badddd!!! Ugh… Part 3 me immediately!
The story has been pretty good so far, my only complaint is that this book is being drug out to get as many parts as possible in the series. The story in my opinion is not one that needs that. It truly takes away from the love story. That and each book is short and over before anything could truly happen. The ending was anticlimactic as well, it didn’t leave me sitting on the edge of my seat craving to know what would happen.
Whew I knew it 🤦🏾♀️ I just knew that heffa was gone come with some bs 😒 her momma is trifling for calling cps on her , she knew she was trying 😩 she literally had lost everything. I don’t trust Khadijah at all 😒 that can’t be his baby , she think she slick 😑 ! Haram know he shouldn’t have kept this a secret especially if he hadn’t done anything wrong 🤦🏾♀️ what did we learn from his mistakes class 🗣️ Just TELL THE TRUTH FROM THE BEGINNING INSTEAD OF KEEPING IT FROM YOUR SPOUSE
I started this series but never picked it back up. So glad I decided to spin the block. I hope that Tok and Haram are able to bounce back, I just wish he would have been honest with her. Kahdijah knew exactly what she was doing with her bitter self. I know Tempest is gonna be happy. But I hope my girl Tok boss up on ‘em. Good read, expect part 3 to be just as good.
Love you did that with part 2. I loved it so much I really want Haram and Tokyo to make it I really do. I knew that he was afraid to tell her about the baby. I was so happy that he did open up to Tokyo about his mental health because that’s definitely hard to do. I’m happy that Tokyo got Space back. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next.
I understand part one was an intro on Tokyo and Haram.. but I guess I was expecting a bit more for part 2. Instead it kind of focused on their depression which was mentioned in part 1.. I guess I was waiting for some explosive love or something. But as usual it was well written which is why I gave it 4 stars
Oh lord why would Tokyo leave noing that he was with that girl way before her he done been through enough heartbreak already i hope they get it together they need each other for real and she need to whoop Tempest every time she see her for saying that foul stuff to her I'm want Syn to have a happy ending too she deserves it what a great read
There were so many ways to end this book but i would have never thought it could be like this. I love that she stuck with him through it all and i hope this next one will be the finale for this troubled couple. I'm ready for the brothers issues next and someone to deal with Mike and Sahara ass.
I knew his secrets were going come back to bite him in the ass. I love how to you tackled mental illness and she should've put a bullet through her parent's foreheads!! I'm glad she dragged Tempest, I saw she was snake from the first book.
Miss Candice, could you please be so kind as to dropped Part 3 soon and very soon🙏🏿
Ram!!!! Rough and Triggered at any given moment, but I love him. So, I’m gonna stick beside him. I would love to know more about Vali. We’ve experienced a lot with both Ram and Sun, but not Vali.
Tok has the greatest comebacks and they’re totally low and what people aren’t expecting from her.
I always read these books and them tell my man about them. He’s always in suspense wondering what’s happening next lmao. Today, I was like she left him and the book ended.
He told me to tell Candice to get that book out expeditiously, because he needs to know how it ends lol.
Awwww man! I hope that Tok and Haram can survive this! I love them together. I hope that Legacy give Syn exactly what he deserves! Tempest really had some nerve and paid for it! Lol I love how the story touched on mental illness. Great book. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out!
