Wow! Just wow! This gripping mystery is just UNPUTDOWNABLE!!😍 I finished it in a single sitting!!

Packed in only 313 pages is a mystery about a twenty-ish girl who is found profusely bleeding on a mountain trail in Himachal by a lovely middle-aged couple, Aiden and Vanessa, who then adopt her. This girl is absent on all social media platforms and her family couldn't be traced by Police.

With nightmares and blackouts, she continued to live her new life with her adopted family, until a stranger walked into her life.

You can swipe to read the blurb.☺️

Okay, so I absolutely loved Aiden, even Vanessa, but Aiden more ☺️. Aiden is a supportive and caring husband of Vanessa, who completely adores her and Shanaya. Shanaya soon gets pretty famous in her small village in Himachal as the lost girl who is now adopted by the Josephs.

Throughout the book, I felt that it was almost a pattern, that the minute I started trusting a character to be of good intention, he/she would soon turn out to be suspicious. And that makes it an amazing page-turner!😍

So trust no one, not even Shanaya, the lost girl 🤫

Loaded with lots of twists and turns, this book is largely based on a beautiful village in Himachal. I really enjoyed reading the vivid description and wished if I could be there and visit Pop's cafe, which was run by Aiden.

There were a whole plethora of emotions that I felt while reading it, which just goes on to show the brilliance of Shetty's writing!😍

I was angry with Shanaya so many times for the decisions she took. I literally wanted to just have a conversation with her on why she can't be a bit more cautious and a bit more open with the Josephs? I mean they are amazing people and they love you girl.😁 But that kept me totally immersed in the story!😍

The ending, oh the amazing ending, that is when all the mystery unfolds right there in front of you. It was a bittersweet ending but at the same time super satisfying too!😍

The narrative opens with a girl escaping for her life after being attacked. She soon falls down the incline and hits her head on the hard ground, where she quickly loses consciousness.

She hasn't been able to remember anything in two years, and no one has come seeking her. She wondered whether she'd ever been a horrible person in her past life.

By the Josephs, she has been given the name Shanaya and will remain with them. There's a good chance that a complete stranger has seen her.

As the story progresses, it becomes more gripping. Even though it's a page-turner, the text is simple enough to understand. However, I felt the writing style to be sophisticated, although it was a little too long for my taste.

Despite this, the title is relevant, and the characterization is spot-on. In conclusion, some unexpected twists and unsolved issues were there, which wasn't very fast-paced.

As a final recommendation, the book is suitable for novices. When I start reading one chapter, I read the whole book in one night.

If you love thrillers and mysteries then you really don’t want to miss this one.

I would like to start off thanking the Harper Collins team for sending me an arc of this incredible, incredible book. I would’ve never picked it up because I’ve never really submerged myself into thrillers but I can clearly see that I was wrong.

This book is going to change everything. I will be reading more thrillers here on!

(Pros)
I genuinely cannot speak enough about this book. Killer plot twists? Check. Loveable characters? Check. Nerve wrecking plot? CHECK.

Shanaya is a girl in her twenties who is half killed and left to die. The Joseph’s find her and take care of her like their own daughter. Shanaya has no memories of her life before the incident and suffers from PTSD. She begins to live a new life around people who love her. But suddenly there is a stranger in town and he knows Shanaya from her past.

That is where the book takes a huge turn. Shanaya starts getting flashes of her memory and acts on it. If I was to tell anything more then that would just spoil the book for you guys because the whole book is filled in plot twists.

The writing is immaculate and the connection of plot twists is outstanding. The plot twists may have been slightly predictable but when my suspicions did come true it just made me feel like a detective which I LOVED! Also, the characters of this book are the definition of good people. They are the epitome of selflessness and love.

(Cons)

I loved this book from the bottom of my heart. The only reasons I have deducted one star is because the third person PoV made it harder for me to connect with the characters but that is on me. I generally do not do well with 3rd person PoV and take time to adjust.

Another reason I deducted one star was because some information in the book seemed a bit non-important for me. It didn’t have anything to do with the plot so it made me skim over some pages just because I was anxious to know what happens next. But I think that just shows how amazing this book!

However this book is definitely worth it! You would be seriously missing out if you don’t read it. It deserves all the love in this world💙

Having read my share of thrillers where a character loses their memory over an accident, such similar plots don't normally hold my interest that easily. However, The Lost Girl by Sana Shetty is very atmospheric and I absolutely love desolated, unpredictable settings.

Set in a quaint little picturesque Himachal Town, the story begins with ex-cop Venessa finding a twenty-something girl, unconscious and half frozen death on the ice clad hills and then rescuing her, later adopting the girl who has no memory of where she came from or what happened. After so many attempts to find out more about the girl, there's still no clues two years later and she's now called Shanaya and very much accepted by the small town folks.

All is well for Shanaya and her new found family and friends until one day a well dressed stranger walks into the Cafe only to trigger memories and nightmares that are burried deep in her brain for a good reason. Is it for good that she remembers her past or will she encounter the dangerous path that nearly killed her, yet again?

Fast paced there's not a single dull moment in the book. Finished reading this in a single sitting. Sana Shetty is an incredible storyteller with an impeccable vocabulary.

A girl trying to escape her death through running in the chilly areas of Himachal but in the process of escaping she fell down from the edge of cliff. Aiden Joseph and Vanessa Joseph found her when they were on morning walk. The girl had lost his memories when she was adopted by Josephs, they named her Shanaya. Shanaya and her story become famous in the hills but soon her past tried to meet her. A corpse was found in the hills by shanaya and the investigation led it to her. Her fiancé meets her let her, and her memories got back on track and her enemies’ people tried to again kill her. The story was fast paced and page-turner in behavior and very descriptive but the storyline is average, you can’t predict the killer because they are inserted almost in the ending, the story behind the killing of shanaya was not up to my expectations. When book crosses the passages which were describing how some people want to save and some to kill, someone very powerful is behind all this mess, how people are keeping an eye on her without her observation for two years, and how such a girl without any enemies fall in this hell. In the end the secret unfolds with an unpredictable yet moderate. Fighting scenes deserved to be admired for their writing style.

Tell me about the thriller you read recently. I read Lost Girl by Sana Shetty, which is set in Fagu, a town near Shimla.

The story begins with a girl who is hurt and fleeing to protect herself. Soon, she tumbles down the steep slope and halts on the hard ground, where she loses her consciousness. Will she survive? Yes, she survives. She is saved by The Josephs, who spot the blooded tracks during their morning run. Vanessa is an ex-police officer married to Aiden Joseph, and they own a café there.

Two years go by, and the girl hasn’t been able to recall her memories, and neither did anyone come looking for her. She thought that she might have been a bad person before. She is named Shanaya by the Josephs and stays with them. By the way, a stranger seems to have recognised her.

This is an intriguing thriller gaining pace with every flip. It is a pageturner, and the writing is quite easy to comprehend. The writing style is mature, but I found it a bit wordy. Nonetheless, the title is pertinent, and the characterisation is precise. The climax wasn’t rushed, but there were a few immediate twists with a few unanswered questions.

At last, the story is recommended for beginners. This might help them learn how I am going to read one chapter turns into reading that novel fully overnight.

*Thank you Harper Collins for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*
This has happened for the first time with me where the story starts in a particular mood and vibe but halfway, all of that completely changes. The main character has forgotten everything and has started fresh with her newfound parents who have adopted her in the hills. With her new life, she tries to find the forgotten past, so that element blended well into the story. It created a sense of mystery for me which kept me hooked to the story. I would like to appreciate the world-building that the author did. The beautiful village in the Himachal gave an eerie feeling to the story.

Halfway the story completely takes a turn. It was very unexpected and the author further introduced some more characters in the story which did not disrupt the flow of the story in any way. The ending was bittersweet, yet unpredictable and meaningful. The writing is immaculate and the connection of plot twists is outstanding.

What I Liked 👍🏻
The world-building of the story.
Change of events halfway in the story.
Forgotten past trope.
Unpredictable and meaningful ending.

What I Didn’t Like 👎🏻
Irrelevant information in between which made me skim some pages.

I highly recommend this book for those who love dark, twisty murder mysteries with a forgotten past trope with a dash of romance!

After having an unsettled heart on a Sunday, all I could think of was dashing out of the house for some peace time. So I did.

Spending an hour and half at Versova beach, I calmed myself down and headed to my next destination @crosswordbookstores Juhu. It was here that I came upon this one by Sana Shetty.

Now being an absolute fan of Agatha Christie, suspense/mystery novels always held a high esteem in my eyes. However, awestruck by the cover and book blurb I took a chance and brought it home. To be honest, this one's more a Bollywood styled suspense thriller sort of story. I was really gripped until the core reason of the plot unfolded. As I was hoping for something better, it felt like a disappointment. Also, the end seemed abrupt; it could have gone on for 2 more pages making it interesting.
.
.
Still, I'd say it's not bad for a first time writer. And definitely it's worth the read (#unputdownable)

A thriller novel based in a hill station near Himachal, India. The story starts off by a retired police officer finding a girl unconscious near the river and decide to adopt her and give her a new identity. What I really liked about this book is that it kept me hooked since the 1st chapter and is fast paced. When I thought I knew what was going to happen next, I was caught off guard! I liked the way Sana Shetty has unfolded the plot twists, making it even more intersting to read.

I'll avoid giving spoilers, but I will recommend this book to people who love thrillers like me. Looking forward to read more such novels from Sana Shetty.

Set in the beautiful town of Fagu, a few miles from the scenic city of Shimla where everything is picturesque and calm but something miserable happened in the dark two years ago.

On the icy hills, lying unconscious and frozen is a young girl with no name or memory and nobody on the look out for her. Rescued and adopted by a local family, she’s now called Shanaya. In two years she build a life with all the locals of Fagu, works at her new parent’s cafe, makes new friends, and loves being with the Joseph family.

Until one morning, a stranger walks in the cafe opening many doors of Shanaya’s lost memory and triggering a sense of fear amongst her new family. In between her blackouts and blur memories she is not ready for what awaits her.

The deeper she went in her past, her present started moving towards danger. Does she really remember the past or is believing what she’s made to believe now? The second half of the plot is packed with multiple twists and was nothing less than a mystery movie.

The characters were all strongly depicted and each one had their own story to carry forward. What I felt lacked was the POVs of some of the leading characters in those critical moments. But for a debut, this can surely be up on any OTT platform as a thriller series.

The bond shared by Shanaya and Aiden, her foster dad shines throughout the storyline. Also, her close friendship with Phavit was really special. The author made sure to value relationships even in such a mysterious setup.

If you’ll feel the end is highly predictable, you’ll be caught off guard.

First of all I have to say that teh author is a good storyteller who obviously knows the taste of readers who prefer thriller anyday.

I won't waste time on the blurb which can easily be found on Amazon where the book launches on 5th May.

I liked the way the book starts off and the visual descriptions of the small hamlet in Himachal Pradesh is beyond beautiful. The words should be used by the hospitality industry to lure the travellers to the place, they are that appealing visually. I am too tempted to visit the imaginary place and spend an evening in a said café.

Well placed plot twists and the interest building in the reader is the author's forte. The writing is smooth and there's not a dull moment and one cannot stop turning the next page. There are events which follows another quickly and I won't be surprised if this gripping mystery is adapted by any OTT platform as the pace of the story is perfect.

Only the deliberations in building a few characters are marginally pushed, which I think isn't necessary. The flow of the prose is otherwise impeccable and entrancing.

Do trust me, if you are having a bad reading slump and want to read an easy going page turner, just go ahead. It's your book. And, for thriller lovers this is a good book to be missed.

Thank you @harpercollinsindia for the review copy. Thank you @sana for such a quick paced thriller, I will be waiting for your next book.

Vanessa, an ex-cop and her husband Aiden find a badly hurt girl in her twenties, who's barely alive at the end of a hidden track at the foothills Himachal. Fast forward two years, the lost girl, now called Shanaya, still battles PTSD and nightmares while working at her foster parents' cafe. One fine day a stranger enters the cafe, and triggers an avalanche of memories and nightmares from the past of Shanaya.

This moderately paced thriller keeps the suspense until the end and is a gripping tale, a little too descriptive but an engaging one. The writing is appreciable, well-presented and well-built characters that bring life to the story. Perfect for a thrilling experience along with scenes from Fagu, a serene hamlet near Shimla. I'm in love with the book cover, that's brilliantly gorgeous. An amazing book, I'm thrilled to read more from the author in future.

I was up all night reading this one, and it's an exciting novel, this book has the ability to be picked up as a movie. Overall, I would recommend this novel to anyone who loves a good thriller.

LOST GIRL -SANA SHETTY
4⭐

PLOT -
Ex cop Vanessa and her husband Aiden are living a blissfulife at a small non descript hamlet at foothills of Himachal when on an early morning treak they find a you g girl in her twenties very badly hurt and barely alive.
Now 2 ya later that list girl is called Shanaya who is suffering from PTSD and cannot remember her past.
Until as stranger comes to the cafe owned by Aiden triggering memories and nightmares which will not only threaten her life but also of everyone she has ever loved.

MY THOUGHTS
I love reading thrillers which are set in remote towns..the whole secluded forest trails, chilly winter vibes and this one was spot on in that aspect.
Right from page 1 I was invested in the story ..it's more of a mystery than thriller and it's only after halfway that it all comes together and one can't point out as to the person responsible till then!s Shetty has crafted a great story and for a debut novel it was really good.
There were a few grammatical errors which could hv been edited better.
But the narration, characterization esp of Aiden and Phavit was good...i won't be surprised if it's considered for OTT platform....as this story is more of a visual kind...full action and drama in an atmospheric setting .

Just a terrific thriller ! Just amused by author @shettybooks how briefed each detailing of the crime scene 🎬 and so much to think in the perspective of each character . The book was been highlighted by @harpercollinsin where there was some contest it caught my eyes to read up so was the book on to me .

Back to the story ! A girl who was found in the hills with almost severe injuries by Aiden and Vanessa . They brought her a life but she lost memories of the past where doctors told that she would blackout if she strains . As she had frequent headaches and nightmares that was in real too . As she was in Cafe where the couples started in the main city she had a good friends named Phavit and Nima . They helped her heal . They were hid a truth from couples but Phavit knews them and when Vanessa being an Ex-cop found out ,there comes a twist 😉

Wanna know what next happened the girl named Shanaya (was called by the couple) go grab yours 😉

Much recommended to everyone who loves thriller fiction

If anything we are to blame for how rotten everything has gotten here. This corruption, this power we give to people who don’t deserve it, we are responsible.

Reading Lost girl by Sana Shetty was exhilarating. This crime thriller can truly make you hooked to the book. It can keep you on your toes till the end, as the lost memories of Shanaya unfurls in her mind, the twists and turns also unfurls for the readers. The Joseph’s find a strange girl bled to death one morning on their morning jogging trail. A strange girl, who doesn’t remember her past, battling with her life survives and becomes a part of their family. For 2 years she is still battling for her memory, to know who she was in the past and what her real identity when the danger starts getting to her. The moment she faces danger, her memory comes back to her. Will the person who has immense power and the one trying to hunt down Shanaya and kill her will win or will Shanaya finally be able to give justice to the ones she has lost in her past by taking down the person before she is taken down?

The story is upto the mark with no lengthy scenes or unnecessary plot added into the story. The language is also lucid however there have been some editing errors which showed that there was a lack of proper editing during the process of this book being published. It’s definitely a good crime thriller read on a good sunny day.

Content - Fagu, a serene, calm little helmet in the lap of nature, near Shimla. Vanessa and her husband Aiden Joseph lived there in a beautiful cottage and run their small cafe in the city of Fagu. Vanessa is an Ex-IPS officer who retired early from her career due to some reason and doesn't want anything from her past life. They are living a simple peaceful life until oneday they found an unconscious and almost dying girl in the jungle when they went for their early jogging that morning. The girl lived after treatment but she doesn't remember anything about herself. The girl starts to live with the family as their own daughter as the Joseph's are childless. They named her Shanaya and even she loved them back equally.
.
After almost 2 years of uneventful life, suddenly a stranger appears in the Joseph's cafe and Shanaya got the biggest shock of her life. She began to meet this stranger more often gets to know that he is her fiancé. From there on, Shanaya and family's life turned upside down. As much as they go deeper in the mystery, the more their lives got into life threatening danger and they should fight together to get out of the situation.
.
How did Shanaya end up in this horrific situation? Is this stranger a friend or a foe? Will Shanaya get back her memories? What dangers are lying ahead of Shanaya and her family?
.
Read the book to know the answers.
📖
📖
My Views - The book from first to last is such an interesting and thrilling read, you will hardly keep the book down. The introduction part itself is enough to keep you hooked to the book. The book is full of twists and turns and thrill and mystery. You can not guess who is the culprit and you will keep guessing.
.
The narration and storyline is amazing. All the characters are well-built and very important for the storyline. Really like the character of Phavit who selflessly helps Shanaya without caring about himself.
.
The climax is thrilling and you will get all the answers. The language is easy and understanding.
.
Overall a gripping, fast-paced, thrilling read. Recommended.

A day that feels like a nightmare, a day that brings back dark memories, a memory that haunts her to date, but what haunts her the most is that she can't remember who she is and how she ended up in the foothills of Himachal.

Yes, the storyline is intriguing, but the plot makes the book more interesting.
The book begins with Vanessa and Aiden going for a walk but noticing something in the bushes. At the end of the hidden track, they find a girl almost dead.

Two years later, the lost girl lives a life full of nightmares and an urge to remember who she was and her life before ending up in the Himalayas.
She goes by the Shanaya name given by her foster parents. She has great friends and foster parents who love her a lot, but she knows the nightmares she dreams about are not just dreams.

When she tries to follow the bushes to find some lead about her existence, she realizes that the dream isn't an illusion but her past digging up in the present. And the circumstances are worse than she could have imagined.

How did a girl in her twenties end up in the bushes on a cold winter day? What is her existence? Who is she?

To know more, read this thrilling, mysterious book which will hook you from the first page.

The book is a page-turner, hooking readers to read the book in one sitting. The character development of the lost girl is beautiful. The story progresses gradually, revealing the minute details making readers engaged with the plot. There are multiple characters and strong motives that help Shanaya find her identity. I loved the plot line more than the storyline.

The story is not just about finding Shanaya's real identity but challenging the stereotypical thoughts, breaking the patriarchy, and not getting affected by the power to find the truth.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Sana Shetty! This is a beauty! I am lucky I came across this intriguing suspenseful piece at an airport!

The twists and turns, in a smooth journey with the characters. The constant guess on who's who!

It only increased the expectations and the fear that the ending should be as good as the build-up. And then, bam! (I love saying bam in book reviews) I binge read the last 100.

Can't wait to read more of your work!

I stumbled upon this book because of this enthralling cover and then it intrigued me till the end. I felt fascinated while reading this thriller, it never sounded anything near like a debut novel. The way the author has woven the story into a picturesque narrative, every murmur in cedar leaves could be heard here.

A gripping, spine-chilling thriller wrapped around the mystic hill station Fagu. You would be able to take a breath in fresh air filled with the smell of pines, you could hear boots crunched on the gravel road, and the author has an excellent grip on playing with words.

It all started when the Josephs discovered Shanaya in a gravely wounded situation. Later they would know that the girl they saved from the bushes had lost her memory and then they named her Shanaya. After almost two years Shanaya met a person who has gray eyes, wore wavy hair, and made her familiar with his presence. On her quest to know more about her past she begins to know that her friend Nima watching her and following her everywhere, but why?
In the end, while resolving all the mystery author gave us a twist that blew my head. A totally unexpected and thought-provoking twist that fits well with today's world.

In her crispy, flawless storytelling style author touched on the mind-boggling twisted theme so well. It has friendship, betrayal, love, social taboo, trust, power-hungry moguls, everything well articulated in a pictorial view of the hill station. Every character was well developed but I would be glad if the author described Phavit a little bit more. I would highly recommend this book to every thriller lover.

The author has a fantastic storytelling style, I would love to read more from her, waiting for her next book.

The cover of the book could have been better. The title is totally apt. The plot of the story is engaging, unpredictable and mysterious. It is a perfect blend of mystery, thrill, emotions, and care with lots of twist and turns. The author has very well narrated the story in descriptive manner.

Language used is simple and lucid. Characters are well developed by the author. I liked the character of Aidan. The flow of the book is fast paced. The climax is hair raising.

Overall, a thrilling read.

Rating - 4.4/5

I recommend this book to thriller lovers out there.

Amazing crime thriller by author Sana Shetty is actually a very fine paced and captivating story.
Engaging writing style,.
Easy vocabulary.
Great story with satisfying twists and turns.
No doubt about a pretty book cover.

Story revolves around a girl, who is found by Joseph in critical situation. She somehow survived but has lost her memory. After two years her past interferes, and along with her identity, old but forgotten dangers too appears.

The thing I love the most is no scene is very lengthy. Though it feels like something is kinda missing... still couldn't get actually what it was??
No part is actually boring.
Very well written.

I'd recommend it to everyone interested in thriller.

Lost Girl is taut yet enjoyable. It's a closed book drama that ensues in the mysterious and formidable hills in Fagu. Written passionately, this story leaves the readers in a conundrum of finding out the protagonist's past. It revolves around the themes of friendship, trust, betrayal, acceptance and redemption. Trust me when I say this (because it's rare that a thriller grips me to this extent)- this book is amazing!

A Harper debut of author Sana Shetty, this novel was gripping in a manner which I somehow saw coming but could not put down. The plot involves an amnesia-stricken girl who is adopted into the family of Josephs after her unfortunate accident in the ravines, which left her with a scar on her face and her memory. The story paces as things about her become clearer and the ones who wished her dead, catch up to her and her newfound family.
Fast Paced, easy-to-digest thriller and a great debut.

After I finished the book, I found the title of the book to be apt.
If you have read my reviews, you would know that I am not very easily pleased when it comes to thriller. So believe me when I say this, this one has to be one the good thriller I read by an Indian author.
The story starts with a girl being brutally attacked in a snowy mountains. Fast-forward to a few years, we see the girl who was attacked has lost her memories and people of the hill station has adopted as her own. In the book we follow her as she unravels the mystery of her past and who and why attacked her.
The story is very gripping, and every time you thought you have cracked the mystery, the author presented another twist in front of you.
I thoroughly enjoyed the writing, and I do feel it has a scope to be turned into a screen adaptation.

She got everything new, except her past which was nothing new to her, it was old. Even though she got a new home, a new life, a new family, but her is past is still old. It is as they say, 'the past always haunts us.' An old deadly secret came back to her haunting.
After reading the book, it kept me thinking for days as to how people can be so cruel just for measly little things. Also it kept me wondering why are humans so difficult to comprehend. I kept contemplating with this fact for a long time. One can truly experience the meaning of 'loss' with this painful story.

The majority of the context ensures we're lost in a chasm to uncover the protagonist's real past. It goes through a series of sequential nature of mankind like friendship, family, loyalty, trust, betrayal, despair & death. Also, the content carries with it layers & layers of details with it. There're so much information gathered in various parts encapsulated with twists; & with each turn there's a new mysterious story which unlocks a new past altogether. The central protagonist is left to die in a very brutal manner. Unable to find her way; she barely clinches onto her life. After surviving this ordeal, she gains a new life. In return, she's also accepted into a new family. No-one around her vicinity really knows about her origin, let alone her true whereabouts.

She met this tragedy in her youth, which has been taken away & cannot be recovered easily. The true meaning of loss is defined as having something or someone leave or be taken away from you, a feeling of grief when something is gone, or a decline in money. For instance, the loss you feel when your parent dies. An example of loss is when you are fired from your job. An example of loss is what you feel when your pet dies.

The psychology of loss focuses on the perception of major loss deriving from events such as death and divorce, but also on the perception of major loss in connection with such diverse phenomena as loss of employment, loss of bodily functioning, and being the target of violence or prejudice, including genocide.

It's the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away. Often, the pain of loss can feel overwhelming. You may experience all kinds of difficult and unexpected emotions, from shock or anger to disbelief, guilt, and profound sadness.

This one was a good thriller, although my copy had a bunch of errors, which I'm going to blame the editor/proofreader for those.
Other than that , the plot of the book is pretty gripping and keeps you wanting to read more and more pages as you go on.
I enjoyed the twists and turns Sana has intertwined into the story. Her descriptions of Fagu and all that transpires in the tiny town with our heroine , Shanaya/Kiara, are pretty vivid. It's almost as if you are there with all the characters , living the story with them.
It's a good 1st attempt by Sana Shetty, and I look forward to reading more of her work.

P.S : Editing to add , I saw the cover of a book 'The Frozen River' by Ariel Lawhorn, and it must be a coincidence, but the cover of that book is freakishly similar to this book 🤔
