The Napoleonic war is over and Napoleon is safely stowed away on the island of St. Helena in the middle of the Atlantic. But far from getting a well deserved break Marty has to thwart an attempted assassination in Paris before taking to the Mediterranean in support of the Ottomans. But is that his real mission or just a smoke screen? The Ottoman Empire is crumbling and there are big prizes to be had with careful preparation. Job done he returns to England to find the Prime Minister waiting to send him away again. This time in a diplomatic role as the new Military Attache in Calcutta while the British are at war with the Maratha Empire. But as everyone knows Military attache's are all spy's, aren't they? The family go with him. Beth and James' emerging talents are tested to the limit as a dynasty is born.

I am descendent of a long line of Dorset clay miners and have chased my family tree back to the 16th century in the Isle of Purbeck. I have been a public speaker at conferences for most of my career in the Aerospace and Automotive industries and was one of the founders of a successful games company back in the 1990’s.
Now in my sixties, and living in the Netherlands Antilles, I finally got to write the stories I had going around in my head for many years. Thanks to inspiration from the great sea authors like Alexander Kent, Dewey Lambdin, Patrick O’Brian and Dudley Pope I was finally able to put digit to keyboard and start writing the Dorset Boy series.
I make no apologies that I write for myself. The stories emerge as I write and I am often surprised by the twists and turns that they take.

Before you read this one, please realize it is a continuation of a series: you will need to read the series in order or the characters / plot may not make much sense to you. The author picks up where he left off and now there is a new generation at play. You will also get a taste of old-fashioned ship battles as well as a little bit of a history lesson. I am reading each of these in order, going to the next one immediately and can’t seem to put them down. I picked this up for “free” with my Kindle Unlimited subscription vs. the regular price of $3.99 – I certainly received more than $3.99 of entertainment value and I am sure you will, also.

The frustrating oversights in proof reading lower five stars to four!
Once again a cracking read, editing errors not withstanding, fast paced action and well thought out plot keep reader's attention!

the dynasty Carrie’s on, a grand family business
This is just such a fun series. The family members are all evolving . Espionage as the business model makes great tales.

Another enjoyable Dorset Boy read - slightly disappointing ending this time but will definitely read the next one.

This series stays strong, is entertaining, and is fun to read. Marty, his family, and his Shadows are off to India to save the Raj. On the way, they destroy the various ilks of Malay pirates and their ships as they rescue some of their sailors. From Calcutta, the next generation steps up nicely to assist their still quite capable patriarch in smiting bad guys and thwarting His Majesty's enemies.
