Blisswood Brothers #1

Something Right

Rate this book

It wasn’t in my plan to take care of my teenage sister, but with our parents now gone, I move back to the town I left 12 years ago to do just that. My sister is full of attitude and doesn’t miss the opportunity to remind me that I’ve traded off my corporate office for small-town antics or that Brooke Rivers, of all women, is living next door with an adorable three-year-old kid who may just wrap me around her finger—the kid, I mean… okay, the mom too.

But it’s complicated.

It involves a weekend way back, in a bed Brooke and I never left—the memory of me hurting her, and the moment Brooke got her chance to hurt me too. In her head, she’s built a giant wall between us. In my mind, I’m determined to tear it down. And as luck would have it, I need her cookies for the high school bake sale, and she needs my skills at putting together her daughter’s new playhouse. Soon we are exchanging favors, and even better, our clothes are ending up on the floor in the process.

But she’s adamant that there is too much at stake for us. And when a twist of fate hits us, unexpectedly revealing a secret, I’m beginning to think that she may be right, or just maybe what she and I have may finally be something right…

Grayson Blisswood will make you swoon in this second chance novel set in small-town Midwest. This is book one in the interconnected Blisswood Brothers series but can be read as a standalone. The series follows the brothers as they run their family winery & farm, the Olive Owl, and find romance along the way.

Evey writes heartwarming romances with steamy moments, often in small-town settings with an element of sports. An American from the Midwest, she now lives in a tiny country in Europe where it rains a lot. That is probably why she occupies her days typing away on her laptop with music on repeat and slow-roast coffee nearby. Oh, and she vows to never break up with cake.

I didnt like the hero that much, it felt like he didnt respect Brooke's boundaries at all. I also didnt really feel the love that much from his side since he basically left her for years and only talked to her so they could hook up and then leave again.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I didn't care for this story. Second chance romances is one of my top 5 romance tropes, so the nature of the story isn't my issue. What I didn't like was that our hero Grayson, really didn't seem to love Brooke. He sure wanted sexy time, but his inner monologue lacked thoughts of love, instead focusing on lust and conquest. Overall, an ok story. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

4.5 Stars for Something Right (Blisswood Brothers #1)
Something Right is a wonderful start to the new series from E.H. Lyon’s and if single mum Brooke Rivers and Grayson (Gray) Blisswood’s second chance romance is anything to go by this author will certainly have a hit series on her hands.
Gray has returned home for the first time in twelve years and truth be told he is only there to take care of his teenage sister Lucy after their father passed away. If he could move Lucy he would but that’s not meant to be but things are about to get real interesting when he comes face to face with his neighbour Brooke because this is a woman he shares a complicated past with….
Brooke has all she needs in life, her adorable daughter Rosie is all she needs until Gray comes back so will this second chance bring love and happiness and will Gray decide it’s time to settle down,
I fell hard and fast for Gray and I’m excited to get to know the rest of the Blisswood brothers, I adored Lucy and Brooke but it was Rosie who nearly stole the show with her cute one liners. This is a well written, beautiful second chance romance that will appeal to a wide range of audiences. If you love small town romance/ second chance or single parent stories I urge you to one click this gem.

Grays has returned home, his father has just passed and named him as the guardian to his younger sister. But, as surprises come to light, a bigger plan is in place.

Brooke and Grays were everything in High School, but he has dreams and wants to experience the big city. She stayed behind and is now a single mom. Now that he has returned, and they are in each other’s orbit, are the feelings still there?

This new series covers a small town with all the antics and gossip. Something Right gives us a second chance, a broody teenager and a darling three-year-old. Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster, but a book worth reading! I like where this series is headed; bring on the next Blisswood brother.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

4 star review of Something Right (Blisswood Brothers #1) by E H Lyon

E.H. Lyon is a relatively new author to me. For the last few years I have been gravitating to single parent stories, add in that it is set in a small town and I couldn’t wait to dive into Something Right, book one in her latest series.

This was an entertaining, at times emotional read that left me a smile on my face and I cannot wait to read more in the series. Grayson (Grays) Blisswood has returned home after twelve years to take care of his teenage sister, Lucy.

Living next door is single mum Brooke Rivers, a woman he has a complicated history with and her cute daughter Rosie. When they came face to face again, the sparks still sizzles between them but there are complications.

I fell hard and fast for Grays, such a swoon worthy man and little Rosie almost stole the book out from under Grays and Brooke. From the first chapter to the last I was invested in this fast paced story. It was a heart warming, sweet, romantic second chance at love story with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in.

I cannot wait to read more of the Blisswood Brothers and their Olive Owl winery and farm.

I love second chances. Grayson Blisswood not only got a second chance with his high school sweetheart, but a third. Will he finally realize what is really important? His dream was architecture, not working n the family business, Olive Owl, so he didn't look back on his small home town or Brooke Rivers, the girl he left behind, not even asking if she would come with him. But they got a second chance four years ago when they were both in town, but he wasn't willing to fight for them. Now he is back to take care of his teenage sister and Brooke is living next door with the cutest little 3 year old, Rosie. Will she give him the chance to break her heart again? It doesn't take a lot of imagination to know how this ends, so I found the "conflict" toward the end silly. Still I like the characters, banter and the author's writing style.

I read an ARC provided by NetGalley.com. The is my unbiased and voluntary review.

I really liked Brooke, Lucy and the other Blisswood brothers. Grayson was ok but not really compelling. I needed to feel his love for Brooke and it seemed more driven by sexual desire. His 3rd act issues were annoying and seemed inconsistent. I think my biggest issue with this story is that the big “reveal” was so completely implausible. Overall, this book was just ok - interesting enough that I’ll probably read the next book.

I struggled with this one and didn’t really like Greyson. He seemed to like the sex, but I didn’t feel like he really cared about Brooke. He seems to be stringing her along.

This is a start of a new series about 3 brothers and one sister, Knox, Benett and Grayson and their sister Lucy who live in a small town in the midwest called Bluetop.

Their dad has died, and Knox and Bennett run the family farm/Inn/Winery called Olive Owl. The sister is Lucy, who is 16 and Grayson, comes home to take care of her as Grays father asked him to be her guardian. Gray and Lucy live next door to the girl next door and Gray's ex, Brooke, who Gray has always been in love with.

Brooke has a 3-year-old daughter named Rosie and she is a single mom. She has loved Gray her whole life and they were high school sweethearts. But she has never felt like she came first with Gray and he picked college over her and then 4 years before he picked a new job over her as well. When she found out she was pregnant with Rosie and it was her exes child she lost her chance with him.

Now he is her neighbor and Gray wants to pick up with her again. But she now sees who he is and she wants to come first with whoever she dates and so Gray has a lot of work to do if he wants a third chance with her and Rosie.

I really enjoyed this story. Gray was kind of irresistible and sweet and hot and romantic. I totally understood why Brooke has a hard time resisting him. These two sort of form a family of sorts with Lucy and Rosie and it gave me all the feels. I really enjoyed this new series start and the characters I got to know and can't wait to read more.

I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Such a cute story, with a great balance of steam and sweet! It was so easy to invest in Brooke and Grayson's 2nd chance romance... so much that I wanted to throw my kindle a few times.
Glorious, glorious tension. There were plenty of opportunities for E.H. Lyon to take things over the top, but the characters, background, and setting stayed realistic. I adored this book every step on the characters' journey.

LOVED:
* The Blisswood Brothers... swoooooon... I'll be reading the whole series, thank you very much
* The small town gossiping... Sally-Anne sounds like a hoot!
* Lucy and how she can be both vulnerable, and put her brother in his place

WOULD HAVE LOVED:
* I wouldn't change a thing... and I hope to get glimpses of Brooke, Grayson, Rosie, and Lucy as we travel into the next story... which I'm very much excited to read!

Thank you to the Netgalley and E.H. Lyon for the advanced reader's copy in exchange for my review. This is my honest review.

New year, new series by E.H. Lyon. Something Right is book 1 in the interconnected Blisswood Brothers series but can be read as a standalone.
Something Right is a light-hearted and entertaining story about love, second chances, regret, and forgiveness.

As always, E.H. Lyon wrote the story in a flowing and fast-paced style that's easy and enjoyable to read. She managed to create real-life characters with relatable thoughts and emotions.
Something Right is a series starter, so there is lots of world-building, but it's so integraŧed into the story. It is exciting and made me curious about the upcoming books.

I enjoyed Brooke and Grayson's story. It's a fun story filled with emotions, humor, steam, swoon, and twists I didn't see coming.
I can't wait for the next Blisswood brother to get his HEA while following Brooke and Grayson's life in the background.

I received an ARC from the author but am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This was a wonderful and fun second chance romance. Greyson has to come home from the city to take care of his teenage sister, Lucy, after their father dies. He finds he lives next door to his highschool girlfriend, Brooke, and her beautiful daughter, Rosie. The tension is hot and palpable between these two but a few twists and surprises are in store for our wonderful characters. The author does a fantastic job bringing these characters to life and truly making you feel their feelings! This was a fun, witty, and hot romance!!!

E.H. Lyon got Something Right about the first book in her Blisswood Brothers new series, a great start! Grayson and Brooke and adorable Rosie were the perfect choices, in this hot 2nd chance romance.

Grayson is back home in his small town, as the oldest, he is now the guardian of his 16-year sister Lucy, this brings him right back next door to his first love and really only love Brooke, but their relationship has been full of ups and downs since they were teenagers when he decided to leave their small town for the bright lights of the city. But now he's back and the feelings they have for each other are as sizzlingly hot as ever, but Brooke has a little girl now, Rosie who is as cute as a button, and Brooke can't afford for her little girl to fall in love with this man who could up and leaves at any time, but try telling her grown-up heart that.

This is a rollercoaster of a ride and one that was a joy to see unfold. I for one can't wait for the next book in this series.

Brooke and Grayson were always a thing, since they were teenagers. Grayson chose another path and left her behind, never thinking that she could be part of that path if he wanted it bad enough. Then he ended up in their hometown again and found himself as Brooke's neighbour. Hers and her little girl, a girl he secretly hoped he fathered but got his hope squashed before he could voice it. Will this be their time or will they forever be trains passing in the night? This is a story full of second chances, regrets, forgiveness but also humour and lots of love. I look forward to the rest of the series and getting to know the characters. I received an ARC copy and am leaving a voluntary review.

E.H. Lyon’s New Series is Everything We Want in a Small Town Romance!
Oh my WOW, E.H. Lyon! “Something Right,” Book One of her brand new Blisswood Brothers small-town contemporary romance series, is absolutely EVERYTHING! Grayson and Brooke have been on a winding road to their HEA since they were in high school. This is a roller coaster with all kinds of super-hot chemistry, aww moments, and a relatable, genuine, amazing cast of characters that sets up the rest of the series and IMMEDIATELY garners a following because we get completely invested in everyone from Grayson’s siblings to Brooke’s lifelong BFF. As with every Lyon book I’ve read, this one has a great plot with some twists and turns, and it completely captured me from Page 1 to “The End” - so much so that I couldn’t put it down. All the stars here!

3.75 stars --SOMETHING RIGHT is the first instalment in EH Lyon’s contemporary, adult THE BLISSWOOD BROTHERS erotic, romance series. This is former high school sweethearts, architect Grayson Blisswood, and single mother/ hospital administrator Brooke Rivers’ story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Grayson and Brooke) SOMETHING RIGHT follows the second chance romance and relationship between former high school sweethearts, architect Grayson Blisswood, and single mother/ hospital administrator Brooke Rivers. Twelve years earlier Grayson Blisswood left the small town of Bluetop Illinois heading for bigger and better things, leaving a heartbroken Brooke Rivers’ behind. With only the occasional visit back home, Grayson would eventually settle down in Chicago, never forgetting about the woman he left back home but weeks after their last visit, Brooke announces she is pregnant with someone else’s baby, sending Grayson into a spiral of loss and love. Fast forward to present day, Grayson returns to Bluetop, Illinois in the wake of his father’s death, to look after his sixteen year old sister Lucy but Grayson never expected to pick up with Brooke, from where they left off, until the heart demands more than a passing interest. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Brooke and Grayson, and the potential fall-out when the truth is revealed throwing our couple into another spiral from where they may not return.

Grayson Blisswood has never stopped loving Brooke Rivers but school, life and a career as an architect sent Grayson to the big city where he started on the ladder of success. Never expecting to come home to look after his younger sister, or work the family owned winery and farm, Grayson struggles with his return to Bluetop Illinois but none more so than Brooke Rivers. Brooke Rivers is a single mother who battles between head and heart for a man who is about to break her heart, again. Brooke has struggled in the years since Grayson left for something more, a struggle that continues with the possibility of breaking her heart, all over again.

The relationship between Grayson and Brooke is a second chance romance; a rekindling romance in which our couple never stopped wanting one another but life, death and children sent them in different directions, coming full circle with the realization that Bluetop Illinois may be where they begin anew. The $ex scenes are intimate passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Grayson’s brothers Knox and Bennett, as well as their sister Lucy; Brooke’s three year old daughter Rosie, and Brooke’s friend and salon owner Kelsey. Bennett and Kelsey’s story line is next in SOMETHING MORE.

SOMETHING RIGHT is a story of second chances; heart break and forgiveness, acceptance and love. The premise is captivating and engaging- the twist was easily deduced; the romance is impassioned and intense; the characters are energetic, colorful and animated.

Book 1 of 4 is a second chance small town romance in the Blisswood Brothers Series. Grayson Blisswood and Brooke Rivers were high school sweethearts. Grayson wanted nothing more but to leave Bluetop and never look back. Brooke never wanted to leave. After years of not being in town except for a quick family get together Grayson is back for good. His father had named him legal guardian of his teenage sister. Brooke not only lives next door but also has a three year old daughter. But the connection he still feels for Brooke has him wanting to really consider settling in the town he once wanted nothing to do with.

My rating:☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️(5/5)
This is my first second chance romance and my first small town romance read and I loved it! Couldn't have asked for a better way to dive into these tropes! With the amount of love and affection Brooke and Grayson clearly have for each other I was shocked that it really took his father dying for him to move back into town and consider a real future with Brooke. Rosie was never in the way of his thoughts of settling down and considering a future with both of them. Goes to show pride can truly be your own worst enemy.

🚨🚨Spoilers below read at your own risk🚨🚨

One of the perks of a small town is you know everyone. The down fall is that therefor your dating life is in display for the whole town to see. Brooke has managed to be a single parent for the last 3 years. Grayson has focused on his career as an architect and used that as his excuse to stay away from the small town he grew up in. 4 yeas ago in one of the few instances Grayson was in town for his parents business he and Brooke rekindled their high school romance. That one night ended with him in a flight to a new location for his career. When Brooke reaches out telling him she is pregnant but is too far along to be his. His world stops because he was coming up with ways to try to make it work with her. With how fast he gave up any chance of their being a 'them' shocked me. True at the time he didn't know how involved the baby's father would be but the moment he heard from a family member Brooke would be a single parent and the father had signed away his rights. I would of thought he would be the first one reassuring her if anything because he knew her so well and out of respect to what they had had for so many years. Once he is back in town and meets Rosie his love for Brooke only intensifies. Willing to not only go at whatever pace is best for Brooke but even considering Rosie in the situation. So the moment he finds out that he is the father is so shocking that he is resentful. Getting to be the real father instead of having to adopt Rosie would have been great news. He resents though that Brooke never voiced her hesitation on the paternity. Which could have been avoided as well had he been around as her friend at any point after finding out. Outside of wanting to slap some common sense to him here this story was so stinking cute!!

Something Right is the first book in The Blisswood Brothers by Evey Lyon. Grayson Blisswood finds himself back in his hometown after his father’s death in order to take guardianship of his teenage sister, Lucy. He traded his corporate job in the big city to small town antics and Olive Owl, the family winery and resort. Their neighbor is none other than Brooke Rivers, his high school sweetheart and the one he never forgot. Now she has an adorable three year old daughter and he finds himself finding ways to spend time with them both. Grayson realizes that the fire still burns; however, Brooke is determined to keep the distance between them friendly. What they didn’t know is that fate would throw open a secret Brooke is desperate to keep hidden. Will this secret tear them apart completely? Or will it lead to something right?
Something Right is a second chance romance with heart, drama and lots of fun moments. I was immediately drawn into this story and could not put it down. I loved all the characters. I read a few reviews that called Grayson a jerk for his reaction to the secret. And, yes, he acts like a jerk; however, I feel his reaction is realistic. And other characters helped kick him in the butt to open his eyes and made the situation feel very, very real. The entire story flowed that I was engaged. It was fun with a few laughs and smiles. There were dramatic and sweet moments. I closed the book with a smile and eager to read the rest of the story. If you enjoy second chance romance, I highly recommend Something Right.

Something Right is available in paperback and eBook.

5/5 overall
2/5 spice
1/5 humor
1/5 emotional

This was soo sweet. Its a high school sweetheart / 2nd chance read
So there was somethings I had against the MMC. When he found out about the kid he said he needed space to figure it all out, which is fine and dandy - except for the fact he came to her and they did the dirty then RIGHT after tells her it was a mistake and he needed to go - LIKE BRUH!
She definitely let him get away with it though, he got away with so much and she just fell back into him.
She was right when she said that he never included her in his future dream plans. When he left at 18 and again later in college. So he really can't blame her for not voicing her wishes. She had a feeling but was listening to the doctor so really, to her it was wishful thinking that it would be true. So he can't blame her. Its not like he came back for her at all. Like she said, even if it was true, he would've rushed back to do the 'right thing' and that would've caused him to lose everything he dreamed of having for his future. Idk it just felt too easy for him to come back into her life like he hadn't hurt her and left at all.

but really it was sweet how no matter how many years or what's changed, they still feel that spark for one another and can fall back into one another like no time passed. ugh!
too cute <3

I am really excited about the rest of the family's books. I KNEW something was going on with Kelsey and Bennett :D Plus I'm really looking forward to Lucy and that one guy too <3

This is my second book by E. H. Lyon and I really enjoyed it, the plot kept taking me until it left me intrigued even though I knew it was a second chance between school sweet hearts
.
Grayson is forced to return to his hometown after his father's death to care for his sixteen-year-old sister and the family business alongside his two other brothers. Having dedicated the last twelve years of his life to his job in the big city, he has no idea how to raise a teenager or deal with college moms demanding bake goods.
.
Luckily her neighbor may have the solution to that problem and the missing piece in her life since the last time they saw each other four years ago.
.
Brooke has another idea in mind, to reunite with her sweetheart and clear the air to move on with her life. As soon as they share the same space again, the air becomes difficult to clean with the energy attracting them like a magnet. But Brooke is not the same girl she left behind, and with a young daughter to care for, things can get more complicated than they seem at first.
.
Despite the clear outcome, I really enjoyed the road to it and how it was taking shape, a very good and entertaining read that left me wanting to continue in Bluetop reading about the Blisswood brothers
.
.
.
Thanks to E. H. Lyon and Victory Editing for give me this great book in exchange for my honest opinion I really enjoyed reading it

Brooke Rivers is the woman he cannot forget, the one that captured his heart back in high school and still has a hold of it today. But he went and left town for college and never looked back, and broke her heart in pieces with every step away he took. Now he's back in town, she's his next door neighbor, and hopefully back in his bed very soon... but first he must figure out a way to make things right with her and re-earn her trust. Which is going to be easier said than done, as she wants no part of him!

The pages of Something Right hold a second chance story that will warm your heart and make you blush! These two had a lot of baggage to sort and wounded hearts to heal, but once they had all that squared away it was nothing but sweet heart-squeezing happiness. From the get-go these two had me in their corner and at their mercy, they were quite the entertaining pair. I loved the watching Grays work his way back into Brooke's good graces and sweep her off her feet, and Brooke putting him through the paces. They had me laughing and smiling throughout! I really enjoyed this one, it was rich with feeling, had characters that were easy to love and a story line that kept me enthralled! I cannot wait to see what comes next for these characters! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

#somethingright is book one in the #blisswoodbrothersseries by @authorehlyon

Grayson left his hometown after high school for the big city with big dreams of being an architect. He didn’t come home often, but when he did, he always managed to connect with his first love. After an amazing night together, he leaves to go on a business trip. Weeks later he finds out she’s pregnant with another man’s baby. He’s now determined to stay away. Until the death of his father leads him back home to be the guardian for his sister. Can he stay away from the neighbor who initially stole his heart or is their bond too strong and will always keep them together?

Brooke is a single mom doing her best for her daughter. She has great friends who help anyway they can. Seeing her first love back home is a whirlwind. As much as she wants him there for her she knows that’s not the reason. But when they start to become extra neighborly lines get blurred. Can she see through them for true happiness and a family or are there secrets that risk it all?

I really enjoyed this book. I love the family and everyone being involved with some tough love. The second chance romance is perfect and has so many other perfect troupes. Definitely recommend!

4 1/2 Stars for this second chance romance!

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it won't be my last. I loved Brooke and Grayson and rooted for them to have their happily-ever-after. I also love it when there are kids in a book and Rosie is just a little cutie! This is a very steamy romance that had me laughing one minute and my heart breaking the next.

At first, I thought that Grayson was a little self-centered because when he left for college, he didn't include Brooke in his dream future even though they had been dating for a couple of years. But then he (temporarily) gave the city life up so that he could be his younger sister's guardian when his dad passed away ... so, he redeemed himself lol. I thought that Brooke should have made Grayson work much harder to win her back and maybe even make him jealous in the process.

The banter between the characters is very realistic and the author set up the rest of the series very nicely. I can't wait for Bennet's book which is next. A fantastic start to the series!

I received a copy courtesy of the author through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
