Alien Bride

Rate this book
Alessandra Kennedy wakes up to a veritable hell, locked in a cage and held captive by aliens. But her greatest fear is of what lies beyond those cell doors. What horrors will the new life beyond her prison have to offer? She imagined every worst case scenario and all the horrible things that might await her, but never once did she imagine she would become an alien’s bride. The strange new culture that takes her in certainly does things differently than humans. Will she be able to get through the time she shares with her alien husband (without arguing) for long enough to make it home? Or will she lose her heart somewhere along the way?

Kye Amara, the rich and cocky diplomat, has always had everything at his disposal: money, women, success. But when a neighboring government tries to impress him with a gift of five beautiful slaves he finds himself drawn to one of them. Quickly this human tears down everything Kye thought he knew about himself, challenging him in a way he has never experienced before. Has Kye Amara finally met his match? And will he be able to prove he is man enough for his ALIEN BRIDE?

Great space odyssey!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜
Heat: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📔📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 😒😚🥲😍

The heroine: Allesandra - she went to sleep one night and woke up to find she was abducted by aliens. She was deloused, implanted with a translator, poked and prodded, given injections then put in a thick plastic cage naked. Other alien females were there as well, though the plastic was too thick for them to talk to each other despite their translators.

The Hero: Kye Amara - He is an ambassador from his home planet Isleria of who is given the gift of 5 alien females as a tribute for the impending alliance between his planet and the colonies. He is arrogant and entitled, also tall, beautiful and frightening.

The Story: Luckily for the females, they immediately are brought onto another ship and given to the ambassador, who in turn gives them to an assistant that tells them they will be taken to Isleria to give testimony against the slavers and they would make every attempt to return them to their home planets.

Alessandra is surprised to find out that she is now the thirteenth wife of Kye Amara. The aliens are all strange and expect certain things of her and act like she is crazy for not understanding their technology. She is suffering from PTSD while trying to get to know her temporary husband. I saw some other reviews where the reviewers didn’t like Alessandra, but I thought she was fine and acted about what I would expect in her situation.

This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration. The narrators were Mason Lloyd and Noelle Bridges. They both did a great job. Mason Lloyd does the narration on a lot of the Ruby Dixon books, which I have been listening to lately and I really like his interpretation of alien males. Noelle Bridges has a soft, clear voice which is both pleasant and fits the character.

I didn’t at first see how this book was related to the first in the series, but when the UPC was mentioned, where Rennek and his friends had worked before going into business with his brother I knew. I liked the fact that this book was completely different but in the same world as the first book. I also liked the fact that the story and the romance took first place and it wasn’t smutty, though there were intimate scenes and the main and supporting characters were all terrific.

I enjoyed the initial banter until I'm in 50% and I realize I hate Alessandra. I finished it because the story itself was interesting and the secondary characters were wonderful. I loved the hero and I think his evolution proved he's a much better character. Will review soon!

Alessandra wakes up in hell. She's locked in a glass box, unable to hear anything around her. But she can see and all she sees is other...women in similar glass boxes to her own. The only difference is? The other women aren't human. She's been abducted by aliens. But, the ordeal isn't over when they finally let her out. Instead she is given to an alien ambassador as a gift and ends up being his bride. Kye has just been gifted a disaster. Slaves! His government strictly forbids the slave trade, but he accepts them to avoid an intergalactic incident. He also can't help being drawn to one of the females, a female he makes his bride.

Urgh, my synopsis didn't explain this book very well, here's a better (shorter) one: fiery human + arrogant diplomat = fiery and passionate romance.  This is the second book in the Elysia series by Tracy Lauren, although it can be read as a standalone. In fact on Goodreads and Amazon you will find it listed as a standalone, however, it does link and share characters with those in Alien Instinct, which if you haven't read you definitely should.

I really enjoyed this book, I absolutely loved the heroine Alessandra. She'd been thrown into a horrible situation aka sold into slavery to a dubious rescue by Kye. I say dubious as he and everyone else does their best to minimise it so it doesn't interfere with their own interests. Alessandra does not just meekly accept that. Just like she doesn't meekly accept the marriage to Kye, even though he is handsome with some killer pheromones. I really liked that about this book and I could really feel Alessandra's frustration, especially with Kye.

Kye had some growing to do. He started off this book arrogant, selfish and a bit entitled. But he was a good hero; you could see he had potential. However, his completely inability to acknowledge the wrong done to Alessandra put him down a few notches in the attractiveness scale. But, as you read Alien Bride you could see his character evolve as his feelings for Alessandra grow stronger. Then, we get to the redemption part of the story. There's a lot of books out there where the hero acts like a dickhead but then confesses his love and all is okay. Not good enough. In this book I was really happy with the way Kye redeemed himself and came through for Alessandra.

However, despite their contentious relationship their mutual attraction was obvious from the start. As the book progressed their bond just grew stronger as they developed more of a friendship...with a fantastic undertow of sexual tension. Lauren also injected this book with plenty of humour and despite Alessandra's dire situation at the beginning of the book, this was a fun read.

This was a great read, romantic, funny but with a good amount of depth; Tracy Lauren is a new author and this is only her second book but she's definitely got a fan with me, I can't wait to see what she brings out next.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Plot/Storyline: 📖📖📖📖
Feels: 🦋🦋🦋🦋
Emotional Depth: 💔💔💔
Sexual Tension: ⚡⚡⚡⚡
Romance: 💞💞💞💞
Sensuality: 💋💋💋💋
Sex Scene Length: 🍑🍑🍑🍑
Steam Scale (Number of Sex Scenes): 🔥🔥🔥
Humor: Yes, a bit. Lots of banter
Perspective: First person from both hero and heroine (alternating chapters)

(These are all personal preference on a scale of 1-5 (yours ratings may vary depending what gives you feels and how you prefer you sex scenes written, etc) except the Steam Scale which follows our chart from A Love Less Ordinary )

Should I read in order?
It’s not totally necessary but you’ll get a lot more understanding of the second half of the book’s location and characters if you read book 1 first.

Basic plot:
Kye gets a gift of 5 slaves and chooses one for his bride.

Give this a try if you want:
- Sci-fi romance
- Higher tech space atmosphere (not primitive)
- Lots of hero growth and turnaround. He begins as a cocky, arrogant diplomat and ends literally on his knees for his heroine
- Fated mates but it’s not instantaneous/instalove
- Hero has never been kissed (it’s not a part of their culture – he IS experienced)
- Abducted marriage? - the heroine comes to after being abducted and realizes she’s married to Kye
- Alien hero with elvish features/curly haired, curvy hipped, musically inclined human heroine

My thoughts:
There’s something about Tracy Lauren’s writing that I am just loving. I adore her heroes and heroines. I like the world she creates and the way the side characters brighten everything up. I find her heroes so...playful! And I love that. There was some great banter in this book for me and things that made me laugh and smile.

Some parts were definitely a bit slow. And it felt like a slower burn to me than book 1. But it had the best build up for tension for me. When it finally culminated in an elevator ride I was so ready for it. But I loved the hero’s growth in this book. It was amazing to see and it *actually had a grovel. I have read way too many non grovels. I’m not sure if this will be enough for everyone after how selfish he was...but I loved him at that point so of course I forgave him.

There was an emotional pull about this book towards the middle that really gutted me. I really loved the build up and angsty feels in this one. The slow parts (and there were quite a bit for me) took my love for this novel down just a bit. Still, I really enjoyed it and plan on reading all the Tracy Lauren I can get my hands on.

Quotes/thoughts:

“What does our marriage entail, exactly?” I asked. “Do we have to...um...”
“Have sex?” He finishes for me.
I nod.
“Only if you ask nicely.” He raises and eyebrow expectantly.

UGH THIS SCENE KINDA BROKE MY HEART!!! And then they had hot make up sex and I was in heaven…

“Tell me what Lauret said to you,” I demand.
“Oh, god!” She rolls her eyes and averts her gaze.
“Tell me now!”
“It was nothing, Kye! Why does it even matter? No one is gossiping about your promiscuous human wife. No one even cares and if they do, well, I’ll be gone in a couple weeks anyway. You are do damn caught up in other people’s perceptions-”
“You think that’s what this about? That I worry what people will say?”
“You’ve been on my ass about talking to other men since the night we met. What am I supposed to think? That you’re jealous? We aren’t even really together,” she laughs, as if the idea is absurd, as if my feelings are a joke to her.
I pound the glass windows on either side of her head, pinning her between my arms. She startles. Her eyes go wide and her mouth clamps shut. How can she still not understand? We are together. I hang my head for a moment before I speak. My forehead resting against hers. She goes still at the contact.
“I’ll ask you one last time,” I say, struggling to control my voice, “But I already know the answer, so don’t think to lie to me. WHAT did Lauret say to you?”
“If you already know the answer,” she starts defiantly, though her voice is just above a whisper.
“ANSWER ME!” I yell, pounding the glass again. She hesitates, but only for a second before she decides to tell me what I already know.
“He asked me to dissolve our union and to marry him. He wants a permanent marriage but perhaps more importantly he also offered to take me home if that’s what I wanted instead.”
“And what is it you want, Allesandra? Are you still looking back on that beach?”
“Fuck you,” she says and pushes me away from her.
“Or is it Lauret that you want now?” I ask, coming close again, undeterred by her swatting hands.

The author told us that this second book would not be in-line with the main series, and that is true, and unfortunately it prevents building on the first one. The H is presented as a self-centered oaf living on his laurels, and he just can't break free of this, even when confronted with reality. The h is trapped far from home with no friends and no resources. She finds ways to maintain her sanity, but doesn't really work to improve her life.

About 2/3 through, the book merges with the mainstream story, and things get better. The H is still an idiot, but the h finds strength and purpose. By the end, unsupported characters arrive to save the day, and all is forgiven, mostly. I didn't find it very satisfying.

However, the lead-in for the 3rd book intrigues me, so I'll be reading it.

This book feels and could be a standalone as the overaching story line is presented ..but you should read all the books!
This story starts out with Alesandra beign kidnapped and sold to an ambassador and the intensity of the book is kicked off from there. I loved the banter, the tough girl attitude, the nonchallant sex appeal and the overall fated mated vibe. another alien human love story win for me

Ungrateful, Mean, Play the Victim Heroine.

The Heroine in this book is one of the worst h’s I’ve come across so far in SFR. She is abducted, wakes up, sold to the Makaan (elephant ish sounding aliens), kept in a glass walled cell able to see four other alien women also caged for weeks. Then she’s given as a gift with the others to another alien race.
She was NOT sexually assaulted, she was not best besides a prod poke apparently once or twice, she was ignored by her captors. In general as far as abducted human stories can go in SFR, she had it good. She even admitted to worrying it would get worse.
Once she is on board the new alien species ship they are unchained and told that the new species does NOT condone slavery and they will each be placed with a family until they can be returned to their planets.
The ambassador and ships owner, Kye Amara, has taken to the human and chooses her. In their culture instead of dating they take wives while looking for the person they want to permanently bond with.
When Kye explains to Alessandra about his previous wife, she of course makes fun of him. Instead of asking for further explanation or even trying remotely to understand their culture she’s instantly judgmental. She won’t even hear him out and keeps saying she’s not his wife.
She’s mean to him, not affectionate, won’t talk. And she keeps playing the victim because he doesn’t pepper her with questions constantly. Well, of course he’s not. He’s trying to joke and talk with her and she just constantly keeps having tantrums and being a real b*tch!
Some reviews complained about him being rude or self centered. Are you KIDDING?! Sure, he was full of himself. But he provided for her and tried to make a connection. She did not even try! He kept goading her for humor to try to form some type of connection. Then he would try to be tender. It didn’t matter what he did she kept shoving him off.
Then she starts hanging out with the band, staying out all night, wouldn’t stay away from Lorat and other men about the ship. Even after she saw three then all the other previous captives find happiness she kept pushing him away and her behavior with immature, self centered and embarrassing for him.
WHO goes into another culture and ignores and disrespects their ways and doesn’t even at the least ASK QUESTIONS? To at least TRY to see their POV from their cultural perspectives. RUDE WHINY LITTLE HUMAN WOMAN NAMED ALESSANDRA IN THIS CASE!
When a woman shows up telling Al that their is a small human settlement she can go to, Al immediately says yes and jumps up. No second thoughts for Kye and his feelings. Because she feels offended and betrayed that he JUST FOUND OUT the night before and didn’t tell her ASAP. Oh but, again SHE is the victim and it’s not her fault that he didn’t tell her ASAP because once again he found her with Lorat and letting him rub all over her.
Then they finally have sex that night all night and fall asleep. The woman shows up and tells her. He didn’t have a chance to tell her and she just leaves him!
He quits his ambassador role and goes after her. This dumb whiny poor excuse for a human isn’t even happy when he shows up. Then she tells him over and over they will only be friends and she basically ignores him and lets him be an outcast.
Again there are time after time in this book where it’s ALL about her and she’s doesn’t take into account that he needs to grow too and learn. She expects him to behave by human standards that human men don’t even follow! She didn’t even have a bad abduction experience. She herself doesn’t cry over it or act that bothered playing her music and staying out all night on his ship. But he’s somehow at fault that he doesn’t smother her asking about it!? Of course he doesn’t because he’s too busy FENDING OFF HER PHYSICAL ABUSE AND VERBAL ABUSE!
She destroys his room and belongs when he goes in a two day business trip. She’s a moron and didn’t try swiping her hand over door panel to open it. She thinks she’s trapped in the room and lashes out. Then when he returns she flips on verbally attacking him. Then PHYSICALLY ATTACKING HIM! She throws books and then starts hitting him with one.
Well, if she hadn’t again been mean to him before he left when he was telling her he was leaving she could have asked about going around the ship etc. but NOOOOPE she’s the victim of course.
Oh and she calls him an idiot twice. Even though it was “kiss me, you idiot” it’s still rude and insulting.
She’s consistently ungrateful, self centered, all about her, playing the victim role, no care for his growth or feelings through the whole book.
HE DESERVED BETTER THAN THAT. I honestly feel sorry for him.
This book is a HARD NO for me. She’s horrible heroine and he while not perfect was trying and deserved better. Sex scenes were also super bland. And took forever to get to. Also, no real affection between the couple because she was too wrapped in her own bubble and busy embarrassing him.

This was surprisingly refreshing for an alien mate romance. Alex is abducted by aliens and then rescued by another that makes her his wife. The banter between them is funny and I love Alex kiss ass attitude. She never appears to weaken when she's around Kye. She remains strong, funny and capable. I loved that Kye was diplomatic but firm. He showed a lot respect for Alex wishes and learned to get to know her first before engaging in sex. Lovely story. Engaging and unpredictable

It took a while for me to warm up to both Alessandra and Kye but the story kept me hooked. Alessandra is determined to keep Kye away and poor Kye makes really stupid mistakes.
I'm really liking the universe building

Hmmm, I liked the premise? The background of the book?

Okay, so Kye our hero was kind of a douche scratch that, thinking back he was a real asshole of a selfish douchebag who thought he was God's gift to women but he gets better, there's character development and he redeems himself. . . maybe. Okay, yes he kinda does.

Alessandra our heroine was wasted potential drowned in woe-is-me and depression. Honestly, I get it, being abducted by aliens and waking up in a glass tank can take a real sledgehammer to the nerves but of all the possible horrific things that can happen to you in this situation, she gets complete radio silence.
No abuse, no rape, no slavery, she's just trapped in a cage side by side with other alien females and they can't speak to each other.
But does she count her lucky stars? No.
The pity party just never ends with her and I can't say there was much development there.

Mostly I was just happy they ended up together cause of how much effort Kye put in to change himself for her.

I was so frustrated.

I wanted to like thos book. But truthfully, I was frustrated and infuriated. The main lady did not stand up for herself. The main man was a condescending prick and got away with being a complete asshole. I only got to...20%? before I had to put it down. I will not be picking it back up.
Now I have to go calm myself down.

Relationship Dilemmas

Tracy Lauren has written, in Alien Bride, an exciting romance that has all the mishaps when cultural differences collide.

Kyle Amara has everything he wants; power, women, money, but then he finds the ‘alien’ human, Alessandra, intriguing. She, on the other hand, is just looking for some help to find her way back to Earth, after being kidnapped.

The dance that plays out between these two, and a host of other characters, highlights just how important communication is when Love is involved.

The second book in the series takes a big swing in a different direction, taking us away from the main storyline and introducing new characters. I found it far more succinct than the first book but was disappointed by how little it related to the other book, it definitely felt like a standalone.

I enjoyed Alessandra and found her to be a far more relatable heroine, she is forced into a marriage with an ambassador who cares more about not villanizing her abductors than understanding the shit-show that is his new "wife's" life as a slave. Despite them being the "good guys", she essential stays a slave since she is given almost no autonomy and no one deems her worthy of teaching their ways though they expect her to understandand abide by them. She is at a disadvantage of knowing nothing of their culture and what's worse is that one tries to learn about hers. Her partner is infatuated with her yet he knows almost nothing about her or her desires which he doesn't realize until 75% into the book. It picks up when Alessandra finally is brought to our original set of humans. I might not have continued the series if the lead up to the next book wasn't so inticing.

What to say....what to say. Well, I really did NOT like the character Alessandra very much. Nope, not at all. Granted she went through trauma ... blah, blah, blah, but found the interactions with Kye (love that name) over the top. I also hope the story moves away from this Serenity/Firefly mock-up of technically advanced people choosing to live like primitives. Have Madreed spare some plates/utensils and mattresses from her spaceship, for heaven’s sake, and stop this basket-weaving, pottery-making lifestyle. It made sense in Book 1 before they were rescued, but beyond farming/animal husbandry, and some sort of therapeutic process, it no longer jives. There’s enough traffic into and off of the planet that they don’t need to become some kind of alien hippies living in a commune.

Hot dang! Another stellar hot alien adventure!

Alessandra was abducted and then given as a gift to a pompous alien diplomat. What a nightmare! Fortunately for her, Kye doesn't agree with enslaving other races and intends on returning her to her home planet. Unfortunately for her, Kye means to take her as his bride in the meantime and take the benefits that title affords him.
Well, Alessandra is not going to wilt to Kye like he's used to, and Kye is going to get into more than he bargained for.
Freedom for Alessandra means home but a new home awaits our heroes on Elysia and we all get to see Rennek & Kate (and everyone else) again!
I loved this book. Action, drama, love, sex... It's a Rollercoaster and I highly recommend taking the ride.

My first book by this author, enjoyed this sexy, abduction / rescue story. This universe was well developed with interesting details. The length of the story was good and really gave you an in-depth read without being too long. The love story between the main characters was a slow burn and I wanted to strangle them both a couple of times but it was a fun, passionate journey.

The series is progressing well. Ally got on my nerves. She didn’t try to see what new things Kai could introduce her to. Most of the conflict came from neither of them speaking their whole truth. But she would over react to little things that some girls would have found cute or enduring.

So this book was free with my audible subscription. So I decided to give it a second chance because I liked the first book. But this book was really nothing similar to the first book where the characters were very much likable.

I did not like the main female character nor the main male character. The female was annoying and irritating and I don’t think they made her likable. The male was very self-centered and self-serving and I don’t think it was a combination of love. Overall, I gave the story a try up until the free book trial ended. I had the opportunity of buying the book for one credit, but I decided that it was not worth it.

I am interested in following the main story from book one. I actually do not know why the author decided to break the books up like this. I feel that it would be better to have continued with the main story instead of bringing in a completely new character and storyline. also I did not care for these characters.

I will read book 3 because I am curious about the other characters.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This book was really long winded for what it was plus there were so many red flags 🚩
The human female was given as a sex slave to a government official who apologized for the inconvenience as his government is against slave trade but he is more concerned about remaining neutral in the situation then trying to help her or the other women who were with her.

She’s constantly denied the right to talk about her horrible situation and is told to keep it to herself. She was married off without her consent to the government official, he is extremely self centred it’s so hard to get through this book.

She ends up leaving and going on the planet that the other humans have started to colonize. Her husband wants to start over and follows her there to show he chose her but he still lies and she takes him back. I know it’s meant to be a redemption story but I was still not impressed with him.

This book was so hard to get through! 🤦‍♀️

I didn’t like the H. Yeah, he grows in the book and ends up doing some good stuff … but he’s still essentially selfish and amazingly so. In the beginning he doesn’t want to hear about the h’s experiences being abducted and forced into slavery because it is politically inconvenient. When he accidentally causes her to be trapped in a room for two days with minimal food and water he doesn’t feel bad about it at all, just finds her “primitiveness” amusing and is upset she’s using his antique to entertain herself. I honestly have no idea how they develop a relationship- how can she overlook that extreme level of callousness?! Even in the end, he still tries tricking her into getting back with him.

I just don’t get it. To me it’s not an HEA because she got stuck with him (even if it is her choice).

I hope the next book is better.

Somehow this book surprised me by how much I loved it. In the beginning, I sobbed because the guy was a douche bag and broke the heroine’s trust. And yet, I felt like I could keep going because the author allowed her heroine to fight for herself, to stand up for herself, and tell him off. At no time, was his behavior okay. I find so many times guys are allowed to act like douche bags, especially in alien romance. And it drives me absolutely nuts! Because the guy acts like a douche bag and the woman still falls in love with him. In this case, there is character development, there is growth, there is tension. And there is acknowledgment of an imperfect relationship with imperfect people but it was still so good! I just loved it. So, if you can make it through the douche bag beginning, I do think that it is worth reading.

This is only the 2nd book I've ever DNF. I didn't really care for the H, but I couldn't stand the Allesandra!! Her attitude and unrealistic expectations just frustrated me to the point I was actively looking for other things to do besides read. I kept looking at how many pages I had left and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I will read the next one and hopefully it is better because I enjoyed the first.

A Sweet Alien Romance

Genre: alien romance
Tropes: abduction, opposites attract, pheromones, miscommunication trope, fated mates
Spice: 2/5 very light on spice. 3 scenes, using words like "he reached his pleasure" and "her core"
Content warnings: non-explicit off-page trafficking and slavery.

Alessandra was abducted, held captive for weeks, and then given as a slave to an alien diplomat, along with 5 other alien females. Fortunately for our FMC, the diplomat is part of a race that does not condone slavery. Instead, he takes the females into his care, and each one is assigned a caregiver to take as a husband. Alessandra is claimed by the diplomat himself, Kye.

These two could not be more different. It's The Odd Couple, alien edition. Kye is arrogant, shallow and cocky. Alessandra is artistic, traumatized and homesick. Alessandra comes off as ungrateful and annoying, and Kye is insensitive and secretive.

They are both terrible to each other, but Alessandra is nearly unhinged. Obnoxious level 100. Alessandra rages and destroys Kye's property, and assaults him. He brings her to a formal political party while she is dressed in a crop top and sweatpants, but this is only after she refuses to change into something else. The author doesn't make it easy to like her. Off-page she is making friends and doing all kinds of great things. On-page, she is fighting with Kye.

They fight until they make a truce, then it is sweet. They finally become friends. But it is pretty one-sided. Kye is the center of attention, always talking and after weeks together, he knows very little about the FMC. In fact, he doesn't want to know much about her, because her traumatic past interferes with his diplomatic mission. Everything goes sideways multiple times, mostly because Kye has hidden important information and Alessandra impulsively overreacts.

This was a standard alien abduction romance. We had cultural differences, the PG-rated version of abduction/trafficking, and language miscommunications. I am still trying to figure out what a retreat is. And why, oh why, must the FMC of every alien romance book insist on using pop culture references and idioms that don't translate properly to the MMC??

There were a lot of good ideas and missed opportunities. The MMC and his political stance regarding the species that did the trafficking could have created more drama earlier in the book. The pheromone spikes were interesting and erotic, and could have been used more effectively. There were quite a few plot holes but I didn't think too much about it, mostly because it was an average, forgettable story. I don't plan to continue the series.

A SOLID 3.5 STARS!

THIS ONE HAD ME INTERESTED, THEN VEXED AND THEN BACK TO BEING MILDLY OK WITH IT. WHY? BECAUSE THE HEROINE JUST COULDN'T MAKE UP HER MIND WHETHER SHE WAS GOING TO LOVE HIM OR NOT. AND THE BEGINNING CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD WITH HER ALMOST PSYCHOTIC TANTRUM...EVEN IF IT DID MAKE ME LAUGH.

HERO is an Ambassador who deals with relationships between different races, making peace treaties and etc that benefits their colony. When he saves our heroine and the other females from the Maakan race, abhorrent creatures who abducted them only to gift them to Kye. Kye while holds a powerful position, is quite naiive about the female race apart from SEX and having been married and divorced 12 times. Being married is their equivalent of Dating. When he chooses Alessandra as his bride, he is in for the time of his life and multiple hair pulling moments when she won't submit to him and is unlike any female he ever had. One minute she's screaming at him, then she's throwing things at him and they are both fighting though it bordered more on amusement for him. Kye is the one who fell for her first and I did admire his determination to win her heart even if he botches it up so badly. But points for trying right?

HEROINE is a little bipolar if you ask me. She started the story with a bang when she just starts shouting at the hero later for just doing things all wrong. While she's feisty and has a mind of her own, some moments I don't like her at all because she didn't acted rationally. She reminds me of an involuntary tease who baits Kye without even knowing and always pushes him away. Clearly it confuses me if she even loves him because half the story progresses and we see Kye gushing him feelings TO US THE READER but Alessandra is happily doing her own thing as a musician for these aliens. Then, when she discovers that he didn't tell her truth (actually he was too caught up in the sex and didn't tell her), she ups and leave his ship with an organization that rescues women like her. Kye ends up following her and she's not exactly nice about it at first. I get that she doesn't know whether to trust him but seriously give the man some slack.

OVERALL I felt absolute pity for the male hero here because he was always chasing after the heroine who showed not that much interest except for a few mentions, and then some bouts of sex. While he was arrogant in the beginning, it was merely because he didn't know better. Sadly, the heroine was the no-no point for me here, although the story did have its moments.

Very mediocre story . Kaye, our main champ,is vein, shallow, self centered and insensitive ashole. Alessandra, our heroine, is just as unlikable. If in the beginning I somewhat liked her,her attitude is quickly dousing any good feelings about her. So the story. Ali,as she hates to be called and for that reason alone I will use that shortening, gets abducted and mistreated. Nothing truly terrible happens to her. Yes,psychologically it is hard and unpleasant but no physical trauma. As soon as she gets rescued, she becomes a demanding, unbending queen. Yes,our champ does not treat her as we would expect from human hero, but she completely ignores culture of her rescuers instead demanding to be treated by human standards. She does not try to learn,to understand or even communicate her perspective instead choosing to be aggressive, depressed and look for every chance to find herself superior. She truly does come across as ungrateful bitch that expects from everyone attitude and understanding, bending to her will and whims while giving zero in return. So these two awful characters supposedly falls in love. I missed how that happened and why. It was more like wham, bam and author stated they have romance. For me personally the most annoying part was how unforgiving Ali was. She does not ask why or how, just passes her judgement and it always is unfavourable . When someone plays victim so mutch ,you loose all respect for them. By the end of the book, Kye had made some character growth, tried to atone for his misgivings and sacrificed a lot. Ali ,on other hand, have deteriorated in more shallow, more self worshipping cow. I really wished she was killed off at some point and our champ looked elsewhere for love.

Epilogue and even a chapter before that is in authors usual style-quick stomp through to happy ending, skipping over million of important things. Very unsatisfactory .

To be honest,I was greatly dissapointed by this book and even considered giving it only 1 or 2 stars, but writing is somewhat good despite unsavoury story and I am feeling charitable. Do I recommend? Definitely not. There are books with villains as main romantic couple, who are more relatable . I would recommend to skip over this book. The only information perhaps needed to not get lost for next one is that Ali and Kaye are now on Elisya and so are 12 unnamed human females that has no backstory in this book. You are welcome.

Okay. Kye. I just...didn't love how dismissive he was about Alessandra's experience at first. And it wasn't that he was dismissive exactly. It was more that he didn't want to know because of political and cultural (possibly) reasons that ended up putting Alessandra in a rough place mentally. It took a long time before he realized that by not offering support he made things harder for her and I JUST WANTED TO SHAKE HIM AT TIMES.

On the other hand, their battle of wills did help to keep Alessandra focused on the here and now and not on what came before. STILL. (Yeah, I'm still a little mad at Kye for not realizing what she needed, but I also kinda get it. Kinda.)

As for Alessandra, she was a champ for putting up with everything she did. Kye's people might have rescued her and the others, but they had a weird way of dealing with people who are traumatized. Again, there are cultural things going on that didn't seem to bother some of the others who were rescued along with Alessandra, but STILL.

For the record, Kye made a lot of mistakes, but he got his head on right and did the right thing. Eventually. After, you know, SEVERAL wrong turns and mishaps. Plus, we got to meet up with the other rescued humans on their dangerous, ruin-riddled planet. (I like ruins that get repurposed by humans. It works for me!)

Misunderstandings, steamy kisses, a cocky hero who has to find some humility, and danger from an unexpected quarter. I'm digging these aliens even when they're totally clueless and need to be smacked up alongside the head.

What can I say

Umm first off I loved Kye bless his poor alien heart and his totally misunderstood self. Alessandra OMG she irritated the heck out of me most of the book, at the beginning I totally understood her frustration with him. I even laughed at a lot of their quirky little fights and misunderstandings. Then it just got to be freaking juvenile, I understand it had to be hard with the whole cultural alien differences. However even after just reading a little of it I was able to make sense in Kye's culture if you're in a relationship instead of calling it a relationship like humans would they consider it Marriage, now if the married couple decide to make it permanent they would have a permanent bond. They also referred to it several times for example: Aru and her mate were in a Permanent Bonded Marriage. I don't see how Alessandra if she's so dern smart she couldn't piece this together. This is one of those books where they rave about the heroines being a no nonsense, sassy mouth, kick butt female and I enjoy those for the most part but it's a delicate balance and I hate to say the author kind of went over board with Alessandra she became more annoying then anything. I would still recommend anyone to check out the series for them selves because it was a decent read.
